Folie Douce

I am actually surprised that only 1 person has given a review on this perfume! It is made by two big noses, and I am a true fan of Sophie Labbe. I adore the work she did on the Gigli's and Popy Moreni's. This perfume is categorized as floral green, but it is actually very very sweet. The heliotrope almost gives this perfume a typical Sophia Grosjman feel to it. Chat Lunatique once compared it to Champs Elysees. To me it is more like a Grosjman child, but it is a very interesting perfume for those loving Heliotrope! Good luck! Action

I can't believe I waited for so long to finally get this beauty! I think this is a very underestimated and hardly known fragrance that deseves being praised over and over. I also find it more sweet than green with a touch of lemon zest. I must have almost nothing with a prominent heliotrope in my collection, because to me it smells very different from everything I have. Very elegant, unobtrusive but noticeable.

Some moments remind me of Poeme. I love it. The blackcurrant and cedar are the perfect foils to mimosa and heliotrope.

I have a bottle of this in EDT, and I would love to chime in with another positive review, but sadly cannot. By no means is this a terrible fragrance, but to my nose it starts off beautifully then falls flat after just a few minutes. As others have noted, this is primarily a sweet, creamy mimosa scent. The sparkling opening notes are indeed reminiscent of Champs Elysees - and I love that scent! However the sparkle disappears way too soon, leaving somewhat flat, sickly sweet dregs (blackcurrant plus ylang ylang?). When the basenotes kick in, things improve somewhat. The sickly sweet 'fruity' aspect is tempered by the musky woods. In summary, a potentially lovely scent, but I can't love its middle phase. UPDATE: It's been two years since I wrote the above, and I'm revisiting FD after noticing that lots of people compare it to the original Venezia by Biagiotti. What a difference two years (spent sniffing hundreds of other perfumes) makes! No longer do I smell any resemblance to Champs Elysees... in fact I don't even smell mimosa. Yes, the opening of FD is *very* reminiscent of Venezia. I can't explain why, but I get that "ooh yeah!" of instant recognition. That part doesn't last long, unfortunately. The sickly sweet fruitiness mentioned in my original review still kicks into gear pretty quickly. This time around, the fruitiness reminds me of a faux pineapple flavoured jelly(?) from childhood, and I'm not really liking that effect.

A lovely, less known find. As others, I don't sense much green in this, it is more of a sweet woody floral. The initial spray is quite pungent, but as the scent sets, it gets much better. I don't get much lemon from this after about 2 minutes of wear.On my skin, it very much leans into the vanilla accord with some sandalwood and a hint of musk. The heliotrope lingers with ylang-ylang, leaving a very smooth, soft drydown which I really like. The vanilla in this is not overly sweet but a bit spicy, woody and dry. Overall it's quite a lovely little scent, even if not my very favourite.

Glad to have found this vintage perfume again. It smells a little bit like a blend of vanilla soup and raspberry liquor on me, but I appreciate it all the same. It has a flowery facet that prevents it from being too linear. I think it could have been gorgeous if the ylang-ylang and honeysuckle had not been drowned in vanilla. Nonetheless, I wear it with pleasure twenty years after its launching.

Delicious sweet berry compote and buttery powdery heliotrope. There's a little vanilla sprinkles and savory cedarwood underneath but the berry and heliotrope are the stars. Interesting flourmand!

Fragrance Review For Folie Douce Gres Top Notes: Mimosa Black Currant Lemon Middle Notes Iris Bay Leaf Heliotrope Ylang Ylang Lemon Base Notes Sandalwood Musk Vanilla Cedar This was a beautiful discovery for me. This lemony floral woodsy scent is like a perfume with cameos by Shalimar L'Heure Bleue Esprit D'Oscar and Isabella Rossellini. It opens with a delicious mimosa and currant note so right off the bat smells like a fruity floral with a tart citrus. The lemon is used twice so it reminds me of the citrus in Shalimar L'Heure and Esprit D'Oscar. The heliotrope is the dominant floral note and it's a gorgeous vanilla scented heliotrope. It's my favorite flower. The ylang ylang blends well with the lemon. There is a spiciness and sweetness and powder. It's got a fragrant sandalwood and cedar and it has an Oriental persona as well. Beautiful. And the price is affordable. I highly recommend this.

Folie Douce is not really a floral green composition to my nose, unless there is something seriously wrong with my olfactory bulbs :-) Folie Douce is a lovely creamy fragrance, the trajectory would be more towards vanillic rather than green notes to me from the very beginning till the very end. I have this fragrance thanks to the courtesy of my Fragrantica Sister :-) and I must say it is very feminine and soothing. Lasting power and silage are acceptable; gentle but noticeable enough to get a nice whiff every now and then. The flacon is cute and quite practical in my handbag. Folie Douce reminds me a bit of L'Instant De Guerlain; both share the creamy and soothing feel and both are very detoxicating to my nose :-) All in all, FD is a great and very much underestimated juice. Well worth trying if creamy florals rock your boat.

Just delivered today. This is deliciously sweet flowery fruits to start, then eases into a really nice balanced effect of green notes calming the sugar down. Very subtle nuances of flowers I can not distinguish. Overall it has moderate silage. Super classy discreet lady is who I imagine wearing this. A sweet madness that is to be shared only with those who get close to you. The bottle is a keeper. This is an exceptional special elixir and one I will return to for very special romantic occasions, or in solitude when I want to savour a any 'feel good' aspect of life. Fragrance X prices are not crazy if you want to try this one.

From the far reaches of my perfume closet... Black currant and bay. Sounds like a Jo Malone. This reminds me of the black currant and bay jam I used to make, down to the acrid smell of burnt sugar when I left it on too long. Strangely compelling but I would probably never ever wear it. Rarely used vintage bottle.

This is lovely in the parfum if you can find it, very floral. In the EDT the fruits are more pronounced and it is more casual.
