I found an impeccably well-preserved bottle of QuiProQuo and the lemon in the opening is incredibly intact, which is shocking, as hesperidic notes are often the first to go "off" even a mere handful of years after a fragrance is produced. Astonishing. The green and petitgrain notes that follow a few minutes after application are wonderful as well. Dry and crisp, this greenness is accompanied by a spicy, peppery note that leads the fragrance into the heart. This stage vaguely reminds me of a greener vintage Hermes Equipage, with a plush leather lurking in the background. A woody ambience with what is clearly a natural oakmoss is what lingers in the dry down, several hours in; here it reveals the classic Grès DNA that is evident the base of Cabochard and Homme de Grès as well. Hitting jackpot on a decades-old vintage is something to be truly relished. This will be stored with much care.

Hey!!!!! I'm so thrilled that I have this, after all these years. In the meanwhile as I was tried to find it's replacement I found wonderful substitutes. Empreinte, le nuits de Hadrien, modern version of Cabochard.... But, this is the real one. The initial for me. It may be not so strong as I remember it, but yes, all of its notes are here. The only drawback is that their appearance is shorter. Sharp lemon opens the aromatic top notes. Soon, herbs come forth. A peppery note is somewhere hidden and woods leave their wonderful aura when it dries down. No, there was never a male version. This is for sure as I have the bottle of .....body 67!! which is exactly as that one I had 30 years ago. I'm happier than ever....

Quiproquo could be classified as a citrus cologne, but it also falls within the category of herbal chypre. It has a very natural, bright, clear and fresh grassy scent, from a combination of petitgrain, galbanum, and lemon. Perfumer probable add some dried plants such as verbena, thyme and rosemary to make it more green. Cedar is cool but not cold, which is perfect for relieving the heat in hot summer. The sharp lemon increases the acidity, and the strong pungency and slight bitterness are surprising. The existence of Cabochard can be discovered through Woody-oakmoss base.

Oh my God!. I'm haunted by that smell since I never replaced my 30 ml spray that was a gift to me in 1979. The smell lives in my memory as crispy, citrusy, peppery and leathery together. The only perfume I had found somewhat relative, was the "empreinte" by Courreges, also vanished! I'm searching for Quiproquo for years and if I ever found it, I dare to try it again, even if time will have fade it's power. Thank you that you added to your list as I had asked.

Thanks passionata. I searched and there is also ebay and an italian store that sells it. I know that these bottles must have been kept since the decate of 70's. I wonder how time has influenced the content.... I found 70 ml spray and splashes and I think that spray may be less influenced. I also beleive that it had never a male version under the name "quiproquo" yet, I may be wrong.

QuiProQuo ... "a favour for a favour" in translation- is a perfume from another Green Planet, yes, there is resemplance with Empreinte and some from Annick Goutal ones as Le Nuits de Hadrien The leather here is like soft sandals walking on cobblestones of the old town where lemon trees grow everywhere, and girls wear lipstick from the morning. It has very round soft base, so the citrusy sourness doesnt abuse the whole fragrance, which lives on that peppery-woody foundation. Its precious mls from dear akats, they show me the beauty of 70-s in perfumery. Prefer it to Empreinte as well as Annick Goutal similar ones, more soft, more complicated in its delusive simplicity.

Hi Yohji, we, italian people also latin native people, mean EQUIVOCAL when we use the latin expression "qui pro quo", litterally " one thing for another thing or in substitution of another thing". I'm very intrigued by this fragrance. I saw a vintage versione on a itaolian site that say " only for collection purpose". So I'm a bit scared about a blind buy. But I'm very intrigued, I love GRES so much!!!

It's a big citrus scent. I still have a half full bottle from the '70es and the scent has remained intact. The scent is a dry green, woodsy citrus scent very similar to the original Eau de Courreges, same dry feeling, same citrus. Very very long lasting, alas, as nothing around today.
