Moko Maori

This perfume made me cry. It smells exactly like the summers I'd spend at my aunt and uncle's farmhouse in Zeeland, NL. Which is funny since it's based on New Zealand. It specifically reminded me of walking through the dunes with the dried swaying grass, salty sunburnt skin, warm evening air. It's just so lovely and made me feel homesick for a time I can no longer go back to. It really works best when worn on hot skin.

All of Gri Gri perfumes are inspired by some tattoo technique. Moko Maori is a reference to the Maori’s sacred tribal patterns, contrast of dark and light and life on an island never far from ocean waves, hence a green marine character of the perfume.

I'm not familiar with the vegetation of New Zealand and its scents. To my nose, this fragrance is not green at all, I don't get any grass or fern. I percieve it as spicy (but not at all sweet), warm, and somehow reminiscent of dry earth. It's unique and well composed, and has good longevity. It's not for me for subjective reasons but Moko Maori is worth trying out.

I’m somehow getting a mix of ginger and cinnamon dry spices. I’m a sucker for green scents, but I can’t smell anything green in this! I have no idea what these plants smell like in actuality, so they could very well have a spicier, more aromatic lean.

Disappointing, feels misterious but at the end gives an overwhelming sweet earthy soapy base. Green is not too present. It reminds me some female classic parfums, shares some base with "Like This!" (not the notes). Hard to wear.

Moko Maori can be described as a woody, aquatic fougère highlighted with clean and animal musks. It is probably the most aquatic scent within the Gri Gri line. Sweet, dust-dry, metallic-citric, lightly salty and heavy on musks. I picture rose, lavender, coumarin, possibly oakmoss and cinnamon below a woody texture reminiscent of chalk and a cooling effect that I would relate to mint and geranium. It feels damp and dry at the same time. Somehow the combination of an aquatic appearance with a chalky texture and the challenging overdose of musks with sweetness make me think of Andy Tauer's perfumes. By this comparison Anaïs Biguine's composition seems slimmer, more decided, bolder. The perfume still acts suffocating on me, in a friendly way though.

J’ai beaucoup aimé ce parfum, je l’ai essayé directement dans la boutique à Paris. J’ai acheté aussi un petit format en eau toilette et un autre parfum ils sont un tout petit peu différent. L’toilette est un peu plus fraîche c’est très joli c’est frais a l’impression d’être dans un paysage imaginaire. C’est une belle fougère et les prix sont très abordables. Donc ce qui m’a permis d’acheter par la suite, une bouteille grand format en eau, toilette et grand format un autre Parfums.

This is flowery, fresh soap, & fresh grass. i can sense something dark as well but feeling the cooling breeze more. There is something gummy or gluey in here, something slightly sweet and freshly soapy. A summertime sexiness could bring this perfume to place. No bad tho but i prefer the "Tara Mantra".

The notes listed here are very much in keeping with the Maori theme, being a mixture of both native plants to New Zealand (Manuka, Kanuka and Kowhai) and plants traditionally used by the Maori people (flax and grasses). Being a New Zealander, I am very interested to try this one

Randomely tried this at butik. For me it is very meditative fancy spa-like green goodness. Unisex, calming, mind refreshing.
