Todorac

This is a truly unique scent and I've honestly been struggling to find the words to describe it. I'll preface this by saying that I'm unfamiliar with several of the notes, so distinguishing them has been challenging. However some clear imagery has come to me as I've worn this perfume, so I'll try to translate that here. On first spray the swirling of cocoa and celery combine, both sweet and savoury at once. The cocoa is dry but not powdery, which intrigued me. A fragrant bunch of floral notes follow, though they aren't the prettiest flowers. They smell green, herbaceous and tinged with something faintly sharp and slightly sweet. The composition feels botanical rather than ornamental. As the perfume begins to dry down, it becomes even stranger and more compelling. Everything gets drier, and this is where the imagery truly begins. Though gourmand, this isn't comfort food, it's uncanny. I'm picturing a small plate of cookies given by an unsettling stranger inside their lone cabin deep in the woods. The semi-sweet smell of the cookies masks the bitterness of unfamiliar ingredients. This is not a cookie a child would enjoy, rather an acquired flavour. The stranger then offers a small cup with a somewhat syrupy liqueur inside. There's a faint booziness, certainly this drink is alcoholic in nature. To taste it is sweet and tart and sharp, thick enough to line your throat. And yet, this is still not enough to remedy the dryness of the cookies. The semi-sweet smell of them has disappeared and you are left with the true nature of these treats, which is earthy, herbal and strange. It's only after the food is politely ingested that the interior of the cabin becomes apparent. The base notes depict the room around: the animalic nature of the beeswax and musk of the ambrette signal a very lived in space, the dry air thick with hay and tobacco. Sandalwood and myrrh add smoothness and a subtle, smoky resinous haze. What fascinates me most is how this perfume conveys texture. I can smell dryness and syrupy thickness, tactile sensations expressed through scent! Hours later the scent has settled into a pleasant combination of all of the above. Curiously, on my clothes, the tobacco dominates. But it's a wet and sticky pipe tobacco rather than the dry leaf I smelled earlier.
