Beyond The Wall

So... let me just say that the 2 releases Gritti had this year don't exactly give me a lot of hope in the house. And the reason is simple: the two releases are unoriginal, they both copy something. You're so Vain is a clear iteration of the Aventus/Elysium profile (tad closer to the latter). So what does Beyond the Wall imitate? None other than Xerjoff's Alexandria II. And it is actually a very good dupe - there's no oud at all in this, but the scent manages to perfectly (~85%) copy all the other facets of Alexandria II. I do occasionally get some wafts that have more unique components, e.g. at the open I got small cola vibes and as it dried I got some Christmas-like cinnamon hints, but besides that, it's Alexandria without the oud. 100ml for €235 isn't all that bad, but to me, the oud is an elevating component of Alexandria that makes it special (I'd know - I wear A2 as a signature). I would say this is worth if you can't afford Alexandria (100ml now retails €545). Re: performance - longevity is good-to-great, around 10 hours; but sillage is fairly poor - sits close to the skin.

Oh my, this perfume has me in a hold. I had no idea how much I enjoyed a soft powdery, aromatic scent like this. It’s creamy from the milk note, and the perfect amount of powderiness from the iris and violet. It’s ever so slightly green and I have been wearing this non stop since I got my sample. I just pulled the trigger and ordered myself a full bottle because it is most definitely worthy! In terms of the scent itself it’s a 10/10 for me! I can’t stop sniffing my arm! Update: As of June 2025 this is one of my all time favorite fragrances. It reminds me of Xerjoff’s Alexandria II but just a hint sweeter. I could bathe in this stuff.

milk scents are still having a moment, at least in my life. i am so glad i took a chance on this one because i think it’s gorgeous. this is my introduction to Gritti. it’s warm and lactonic, with some almost medicinal artemisia. it adds an unmistakable bitter, green tinge. without the softness of the iris, this fragrance would likely not be for me, because the there’s also a healthy amount of cardamom. as it dries down, much of the bitterness subsides, but you are met with a soft, palatable tea note. it’s such a delicious composition, but not gourmand. this is my kind of fall scent.

It's like I have finally dared and climbed over the wall. Anxious, I stand there, leaning my shoulder against the wall. It's made of brick with an uneven layer of plaster, dry, dusty and milky. Peace and quiet around, and I take steps through the wormwood wasteland toward a small garden not far away

I love this perfume I was on the hunt for a more wearable Alexandria ll for women and I found it. This is a beautiful woody rose very creamy and warm.

I'm obsessed. I can't believe I never hear about this one. It is phenomenal! It lasts and projects. If you are debating, get it!

The more I wear this the more I love it! It’s such an interesting and unique scent profile. Artemisia is wormwood/absinthe adjacent and it lends an anise note which I wouldn’t normally like but mixed with the powdery iris, ginger tea and milky musk it works.

This delicate floral scent reminds me of my Nana's gentle spirit. It's a light and intimate fragrance with a unique blend of powdery notes and a laconic touch. It makes me feel free and cheerful, but definitely not for everyone.

A woody rose scent??? I don’t know what HayaJ is talking about because this is a creamy lactonic aromatic iris scent. Nothing roseyy about it. Truly beautiful and completely unisex in my opinion.

This is what i wanted Celine Black Tie to be. Powdery, slightly green and woody iris, with added creaminess from the milk and sandalwood. Love!

Nostalgic florals and musk. Smells like your skin after you wash your hands with a floral soap but in a good way.

It smells exactly like the experience of getting a tattoo and I have to say I'm living for it.

It opens a bit medicinal and herby but that quicklY fades to a soft vanilla iris. the drydown is sexy but very sophisticated andvery elegant. Soft powdery like in the way angelic noir dries down, the milk gives me some kind of green vanilla feeling, the herbs especially the cardamop, are perfectly balancee and very subtle. Milky musk and powdery iris. Some cardamom and sandalwood. On my skin it becomes the fanciest make up powder! with hints of violet and maybe aldehydes? it is smooth, elegant and expensive smelling. Wear this to adorn a fancy attire, and a confident attitude. Really good scent!

Warm dusty spices, peppery notes, strong cardamom woods. Most of the notes are missing for me. Would’ve liked more tea and less cardamom and was really hoping for the violet and iris. Mostly warm dusty spices. It’s okay.

This is a baitiful iris scent, reminds me of Iris Dragees. It is sweet, powdery, with a bit of nuttiness. Venba has testers for around $100. Totally worth it!

GAH I love this. No notes - just smooth, musky goodness with a dry down reminiscent of a cozy old tea house.

Oh my, this sounds beautiful and intriguing. Can't wait to sample it (and read reviews on the meantime).
