Noctem Arabs

Oud and tobacco does a great job together in Noctem Arabs. Initially the medicinal oud is a bit overwhelming, but after a few minutes a balance is established where oud and tobacco are supported by myrrh and patchouli. The oud smells like the real stuff, but it is softened in a nice way by tobacco. Sillage is very moderate, and the drydown is a soft cedar-woody scent embeded in a musky/ambroxan ambience. All in all Noctem Arabs is a wearable and enjoyable scent. Not very innovative, but great for days when you want to feel comfortable and friendly.

This is lovely, comforting, warm, mouthwatering, elegant, not overpowering, sweet / smoky / dry in a perfect balance. An excellent perfume, even if it's not groundbreaking or different. It reminds me of Sept.21.1966 by Rundholz and somewhat of Fortis.

a solid oud.. perfect on paper but on my skin it's too sweet. i wish it was more gritty to balance this out but as it is, i think this would be really beautiful on a woman

This is Black Afgano’s cousin that passed their drug test. Smooth, dark, with a slight touch of funk & sweetness. 7.5/10

#1809 in my “Tour de Fragrance” This is a nice tobacco scent, but a moderate performer. I prefer the myrrh here over the incense similar scents use and definitely more than no incense of any kind. I enjoy Alghabra “Eye of Seven Hills”, but I would enjoy it more with incense or myrrh or olibanum. I do like that this doesn’t throw in a strong rose note which gave the otherwise excellent Montale “Oudrising” and Voyage Royale “The Conqueror” kind of a grandma vibe. But, I have better juice than this on the shelf. Lot’s of it. Mancera “Red Tobacco” and “Red Tobacco Intense.” Even Paris Corner’s “Wild and Tobacco" and Maison Alhambra’s “Signatures II", both less than half price of Red Tobacco, are a bit better than this. And of course Tom Ford’s “Tobacco Oud” and clones thereof. I would put them all ahead of this. So, this is okay, but wouldn’t be in my tobacco top ten, so I’ll pass. Good Luck and Good Hunting!

I really don't get the comparison to Nasomatto Black Afgano. Opens to dry cedarwood and tobacco almost reminiscence of saw dust. Patchouli is next to non existence. The musk choice here is interesting. I would prefer a cleaner musk with patchouli in base. Perhaps adding some citrus to top. Sandalwood mixed with rest resembles playdough smell for me. Overall, it smells unfinished to me. It needs something to fresh it up or move farther to the dark side. Where it sits right now is missing character and it's unsure what it wants to be.

What's up with the Dr.- thing? This brand is not named after the Gritti Palace in Venice? Oh my bad, then. It might explain a lot as I expected better. I ordered some samples and this one has an overwhelming Oud note of the kind I don't really appreciate. To be honest I don't smell much else. Omnipresent, sharp Oud. Not for me.

I'm torn on how I feel about this fragrance. It smells nice -- a smoky, woody, ambery incense -- but it smells exactly like a softer, toned-down version of Ajmal Incense Wood, which I already have. I have no idea if Ajmal is a dupe house, but because I already own Incense Wood, it was disappointing opening Noctem Arabs and smelling something I already have. That said, there is one big plus for Noctem Arabs: its performance. It's not overpowering in the least but holy hell, does it project. I don't even understand how it's possible -- despite having a softer, more muted scent than Incense Wood, Noctem has crazy nuclear performance. I have almost 250 fragrances now but can rarely smell any of them on me unless I've sprayed it on my arm and hold my arm up to my nose. But Noctem Arabs is probably one of only two fragrances in my entire collection that I can smell even when my arms are down by my side (the other being Oud Maracuja). It's insane. I want to return Noctem because it's redundant with Incense Wood, but I'm leaning towards keeping it just because of its performance. That and I did only pay $80 for it, so why not just keep it...

Ghastly beyond belief... While the topnotes are deceptively pleasant, there is a strong, and to my nose, intensely unpleasant sweaty/ambroxan odour that ruins the wearing experience lying beneath them. This was a scrubber for me as I found the odour viscerally repellant - I have never experienced anything quite like it before. The oud element, on the other hand, is fairly understated and pleasant. This is a nice fragrance, if it wasn't for that one terrifying note!

It’s smells really amazing. It’s sexy and mysterious . I smell something fresh too but it’s really not strong. It smells warm and spicy. I only tested it and fell in love within the first spray. But i do not know wether the sillage and longevity is strong cause i only tested it. When i sniff my arm i smell it, so i guess it stays long but it isn’t a beast mode (like Montale, Mancera,....)

A more refined and sophisticated take on Black Afgano. Its not as harsh, has reduced sweetness, and has a deeper and woodsier profile. I never really enjoyed BA, I always felt the texture was overly thick, and viscous, and made me nauseous at times. This one however, smells neater, and you can actually make out the impression of tobacco. It also has a darker character. Solid stuff.

I personally enjoy the perfume. It is best worn at cool nights, accompanied best to a very sleek wardrobe and style. I'm middle eastern; when I decide to make an effort to clean up really well; and the occasion does allow to wear The Arabs nights; it does deepen the layered look chosen. this perfume is not for everyone though.

A gentlemen that I was sitting next to in a business meeting had a very nice scent; not over powering. I liked it and asked him what he was wearing. He actually had the bottle of Gritti Noctem Arabs in his briefcase. I am trying to locate this wonderful Italian cologne in the USA. Please tell me how I can purchase it. Thanks

the good thing about this fragrance is that i don’t get nose blind throughout the whole say. i know that the fragrance still projects till some point i can still feel the projection even after 5 hours of wearing i recommend it

Black afgano without the hash note. I own BA and they’re so similar
