A Floral Verse

I bought samples of three of the ones in this collection I thought I’d like best, the vanilla one, a chant for the nymph and this one. I thought for sure a chant for the nymph would be a must. I only tried it once but it didn’t smell super unique nor worth the high price. This is by far my fav or the eclectic three I choose to sample. I get no milkiness which is good, it’s a very floral feminine frag IMO, it smells clean and beautiful. I’m not sure how unique this one is either, but I do think it’s a frag I could see myself wearing as one of my florals. I get the jasmine, but it’s not very heady, it’s mixed with a slight light honey smell, it’s not overpowering nor offensive. If I could find a good deal on a bottle, I think this might be the one I’d buy in the group, though I think there may still be one or two I should maybe try out and overlooked. This one so far has been one of the better floral frags I’ve sampled in gerneral and I like that it isn’t overly complex, and only did one spray on one side of my wrist, and can’t stop smelling it. I don’t get any tea notes either but maybe I wasn’t overly generous w my spraying so I’ll be playing w this for a bit but I have put it in a want category for now. I think it could be worn year round, and would recommend it for floral lovers that don’t want the annoying citrus notes and overbearing other notes that can ruin it. Also not powdery IMO at all, which I’m not a fan of either, it’s more aquatic if anything.

Under the new creative direction of Gucci Alexandra Monet signs one of the most interesting fragrances of the collection The Alchemist Garden, after the departure of Alberto Morillas. A floral verse is a beautiful fragrance of dark/light shades, which beautifully mixes the note of black tea of Sri Lanka with the Jamin Sambac of India, both notes are perceived from the opening of this fragrance, this duo that incorporates the relaxed, dark and astringent aspect of black tea and the shine of the jasmine sambac in all its splendor (but not indolic), the jasmine comes accompanied by stems and leaves and is that this fragrance has something green and chlorophyllic that makes it super interesting, it feels a jabonous sensation but including a touch of sweetness perhaps of an undeclared vanilla brushstroke and that at times feels plastic and burnt, all on a high quality white musk base. If you like fragrances with tea and white flowers this would be an interesting option but it moves away from that bright green tea of Elizabeth Arden and the relaxed and white floral Wulong Chà de Nishane, a different proposal of Gucci where you notice like in almost all of this collection the high quality of its components and that like the others maintains a moderate to discreet performance.

For me, this is one of the most naturalistic interpretations of black tea I’ve ever experienced. There is a gentle astringency here, just like in a freshly brewed cup of real black tea. Jasmine blends beautifully into the tea note, adding a soft sweetness and a delicate floral nuance, which makes the composition unfold with remarkable refinement. I don’t detect musk as a separate note, but I do feel it working in the background - smoothing the edges, softening the transitions, and giving the fragrance an incredibly airy, smooth, and cozy character. Overall, the composition feels airy, delicate, yet very expressive, centered around a tea accord enriched with tender jasmine sweetness. I find the fragrance absolutely all-season and see it more on a feminine audience.

A candidate for a 'scent of the year' in a luxury category for me. One of the more interesting and memorable releases of 2023 that I had a chance to smell. How does it smell? I don't recall smelling anything similar. I'd describe it as powdery, lush, green but in a warm way. It dries down to something that resembles tea more closely. However, it's not the light and bright type of tea you may find in Nishane Woolong Cha. It's a deep and darker type of tea. Captivating. Unisex. I had low expectations towards Gucci, but this is surprisingly good.

I was genuinely surprised by how much I love Gucci A Floral Verse. I didn’t expect a tea perfume to be so captivating, but it’s become the standout in my collection. It’s everything I never knew I wanted in a tea fragrance—balanced, soothing, and beautifully crafted. I recently tried Killian’s Imperial Tea, thinking it might compare, but honestly, it felt underwhelming next to A Floral Verse. It made me appreciate just how special this perfume really is. This is the best Tea perfume. I do not think anyone could have done better. 10/10

To my wallet’s disappointment, I ended up loving this perfume. It smells beautiful. It’s like a slightly elevated clean scent. This is what I would imagine an older, sophisticated, billionaire lady would smell like. It’s a very nice scent in my opinion, but some might think it’s too grandma smelling because of the powdery musk. You can’t really pick up on the tea because it blends in to too much, but it prevents the perfume from turning too musky/powdery.

Jasmine, black tea and musk, is a shiny and wonderful character, a perfume that smells beautiful, smoky and very attractive, jasmine clings to a herbal green spirit while black tea smokes the place with beautiful and attractive smells, musk is the basis here, a soft and beautiful woody musk, a new and wonderful composition.🌿🌱 I also feel that the perfume is very pheromonic and sexual.

I own about 60 fragrances (all high-end), and this is absolutely my new favorite. Nothing I own smells even remotely like it. It's absolutely stunning. For me, the green and rose notes are perfectly balanced by the musk and powder. I honestly don't remember the last time a fragrance caught my attention like this one has!

Very charming scent, the only one that impressed me trying the Alchemist’s Garden line at an airport. It is low profile but mysterious, like something lost, somewhat melancholic, no sharp edges, high value, not seeking attention, confident that it will be discovered. It insinuates sensual depth, values of a past era. Impression of undefined and rare, youthfullness, even adolescence and the unconsious art of seduction. The notes blend splendidly with each other, the base note, white musk, is a little too much for me, I would like it if other notes were more intense and this one played down so that the perfume would be lighter and more special, though the sweetness that it leaves is not only from the musk but also from the cleanness of dried herbs and flowers. I can not smell it on me for a long time, I have to ask other people how they perceive it. What great names this collection has, good job for the presentation.

Wonderful composition of a soft peach or osmantus that vibrates showing its sour and juicy aspect, then soft and vanilla side, sometimes you can smell white flowers. Only one big disadvantage is that to feel it all you need to make 10 or more sprays. And even after such abundant use this perfume hugs you with subtle haze that always made me thinking that I need to add more sprays. Ok, reading pyramid now I can detect black tea, but this is not classic tanine-rich tea - more like black tea with dried berries and fruits. PS I have paranoia. I did million sprays just to smell this perfume from me, but what if other people are more sensitive for this perfume and now they are dying from the sillage?

Another one that initially just makes grade, but does grow on you with time. Multi-faceted, unisex and airy. This is a particular but simple blend of tea, pronounced and photorealistic white florals (Jasmine Sambac absolute) and a clothing-musk. Something you'd pick up off used denim and leather more than body odor. Interesting stuff, certainly worth a spin. Some might fall in love.

A musky tea scent. The jasmine, despite being a main note, takes a backseat and is actually pretty subtle. This is simple and clean but not sharp or indolic. I agree that it is very similar to Wulong Cha, but this has a little more projection and longevity on me.

Good amount of depth - as well as balance between the floral and green notes. By the pyramid all of the feminine-leaning fragrances from the line seem very plain but they are very complex on skin

A subtle, easy wear. I don’t really pick up any green tea. It’s another clean musk.

I was hoping to like this fragrance more, based on its reviews and the notes that it has. But A Floral Verse by Gucci was kind of a dissapointment for me when I tried it on my skin in David Jones. I can smell the jasmine somewhat, but this isn't really a pure white floral fragrance to me and it isn't feminine smelling either. It is definitely much more unisex. I can barely detect the musk as well. The black tea is most prominent in this to me, but combined with the other notes it smells more like a bitter green tea to me. There is no sweetness in this perfume at all. Longevity was moderate at around 6 hours, but sillage was fairly abysmal and this made this fragrance more of a skin scent. It would work for many occasions though both day and night during the spring, fall and winter. It is innofensive smelling too. It doesn't blow my socks off though and that's why I only give A Floral Verse by Gucci a 5/10.

The jasmine isn’t enough here for me. The dominant note is the black tea which gives a bitter note that isn’t working for me. It’s like when you cut a stem from a flower and it releases that acidic chlorophyll juice smell. A tart green floral with a bitter undertone.

I wanted to love this one so bad because I’m a huge floral green girl but it’s a total disappointment for me. I own the pink bottle and absolutely love it. This one is not for me

This. Smells. Horrible. There is a smokey smell for a perfume called A Floral Verse. Like, huh?!

I actually hate this and recoiled from the testing strip. It smells like cough syrup.

Think initially Imperial Tea, with the on and on incredible Alchemist's Garden cozy and warm smoke settle. Get bit green creamy milk, like that moment in Memoir Man in the opening, fourth day amply sprayed on arm, gets earthier, more and more woody like one wouldn't believe. More on the bitter side, balmy green, close tie with the Tea note, but Jasmine predominant, with the gentle musk to it all. Get the serene joyful, uplifter, an everyday pick, all purpose casual aand doesn't get loud if oversprayed. Personally don't get the spa sameness almost at all? Got it the first two times/days, in the imediate opening, lasted for 30 min tops, then next days barely got it anymore towards and in the drydown, so yeah, again: an Aura Tea scent, must try it out on own skin. Very pleased and surprised by the blind purchase, luving the line more and more.

Hmmm, reminds me of L'Artisan's Caligna. I'll say outright I'm not a fan of ozonic 'fresh' 'sea breeze', 'aquatic' or cold/thin jasmine perfumes. Not a winner on me, but of course the sales assistant practically wrestled me to the ground to force some of it on me. Can they please, please, just back off and let us explore perfume in our own way? Last time I was there the assistant sprayed something I didn't really like all over my coat sleeve, I was saying 'no, no, not on my coat'. Exasperating. Anyway, the perfume is ok, not for me, but if you enjoy an aquatic, edgy vibe you'll like it.

I gave this a smell today at Bloomingdales. It opened up with a beautiful realistic jasmine green tea scent, similar experience to opening a jar of high quality hand rolled jasmine green tea pearls, really lovely opening. It is accompanied with some sweetness. Then there is a clean and almost soapy note that intensified with time, I wasn’t the biggest fan of that. But overall, it is definitely a unique and pleasant scent, if you love jasmine tea and some sweet soapiness, you might fall in love with this!

Very beautiful and unusual cologne-type fragrance. I hate jasmine, but here it is very close to natural jasmine, also nice green notes and clean white musk. The bottle is also amazing, not just a white and gold one from the line. Very modern summer fragrance, more on the feminine side. Projection is moderate, but longevity is decent for the "green" type fragrance.

Store Test Short Review: Lovely sour but not indolic or heady jasmine, dries down into a clean spa-like tea. Underrated pick from the line, the tea is very beautiful and the jasmine is clean, it’s as beautiful as the other clean scents from the line. A bit misleading to call the jasmine a “sambac” though, this doesn’t have that signature scent.

Totally agree with the “cut a stem” review down below. A huge love for me, as it brings out the entire flower and not just some sweetened petals which often becomes boring after a few hours. If the pink Chat for the Nymph is like coming out of a spa, A Flower Verse is like the aftermath of a nice refreshing flower bath.

This is the only acceptable one from Gucci's Alchemist, I think. The other ones are cheapy quality, really, rather the normal line's works are better.
