Flora Gorgeous Orchid Intense

What a little beauty. I was hoping not to love this because, well... to be honest, I don't need another perfume. But oh wow. To me, it smells like a cold vanilla and cocoa milkshake by the beach. It's creamy, airy, and just... WOW. I'm not so sure about the 'Intense' in the name, though. To me, this simply smells like the original should have smelled if someone had done their job properly the first time around at Gucci. I don't know what it is with perfumes these days. So many new releases are weak and lacking in projection, sillage, and lasting power. Then, a year or two later, brands release an "Intense" version. Don't get me wrong, most of these flankers are lovely, but they often just smell like version 1.0 should have smelled if someone hadn't misread the brief in the first place. Maybe there's more to it that I don't understand. I do sometimes wish I could peek behind the scenes of the fragrance industry just enough to answer my own questions!!

It reminds me of Atheeri’s opening with a salt note; the cocoa is there for depth but doesn’t really show itself until later drydown. The salt note is there but subtle. Interestingly I do think this could potentially be worn year round; the salt and ozonic notes do well in mildly warm weather. Would want to test more in high heat. Lasts significantly longer than the original on skin. There’s something here that hints at feeling more mature than the original, but just barely. I really like this! I have Atheeri and a dabber size of the original, so I am content to test this some more before purchasing. Would not be surprised if I end up buying a travel size at least.

I’m really surprised by the performance. Today I went hiking in the mountains, rode an open lift and 6 hours later a random man complimented me saying he smelled me from a far and he needed to know what I’m wearing. I had this layered with terracotta by guerlain. I feel they’re a match made in heaven and my current summer obsession! Btw I own all floras and my least fave is gorgeous orchid. Not because it’s bad, not at all, it’s just not a me scent. Orchid intense shares a similar dna but it’s different, the almost edible warm cacao note together with the ozonic note makes it an amazing summer scent. I’m very impressed by longevity on me

A sephora employee was sniffing a test strip of this and saying "this smells like cantaloupe," so I was like "what smells like cantaloupe 👀" and had to sample what she was smelling 😅 I can get a tiny hint of cantaloupe, which I absolutely looove the smell of. I kind of had to search for what she meant, but overall I did enjoy the fragrance on paper. I'd go back to test on skin - it was really pretty. The same employee recommended the papaya scent from the brand Clean after I told her I liked this one. I tried that on paper, and it was nice as well. Not sure I could pull it off on skin, though.

I went and tried it expecting something heavy and dense based on reviews. This wasn’t that. This is a SALTY VANILLA. For those of you who are big fans of that category, like myself, it’s nice!!! At first it smells very similar to the original. Just slightly creamier with the chocolate and just a hint of salt. But very quickly on skin it transforms to a salty vanilla. I smelled it for over 8 hours. It isn’t a sweet powerhouse like the original, and that sweetness from the chocolate does fade away rather quickly, so that’s why I think people are saying that it doesn’t last.

I have this one and it's absolutely wonderful. I had the original (a 30ml) but got Atheeri in preference because it's so similar, but cheaper and slightly sweeter, which I prefer. But this one! It's deep, rich, addictive and so yummy that I fast got through my 30ml. I have now purchased a 100ml, in part because it's refillable and the other sizes are not (poor form Gucci!). But it is the kind of fragrance that deserves a wear several days on the trot, in any weather, day or night, so a great one to take on holiday. Versatile and highly recommended.

I blind bought this fragrance and it just came in the mail today. I love it! It’s an amped up version of the original with a prominent amber note coming in the dry down. Can you own both? I’d say yes. It’s definitely not the same scent profile at all. You only get the OG within the first 5 minutes. It takes a completely different scent journey. Is it a safe blind buy? No. It’s a very complex amber note. I’d say try before you buy. But I like it. I just can’t say for certain that I’ll wear it more than the OG, which is one of my top 10 fragrances.

This is very pretty at first spray and the orange colored bottle is very fitting. It reminds me of the yellow, original Gucci orchid, but just stronger. Beautiful summer scent at first spray. After about an hour, the cocoa and vanilla come out, or is what’s left, and it kind of reminds of a light fall scent. A bit confusing. The first spray is absolutely beautiful though and hooked me into a small bottle. The dry down reminds me a LOT of a Jo Malone scent a few years ago called, Salty Amber. I don’t like the dry down as much as the initial spray.

Hello my friends 🧡 . This is much more fresher than the OG, it is perfect for the hot weather because the ozonic notes are all the way there till the end. I feel like it behaves as a bomb of sweetness, it bursts at the start reminding the OG and after an hour it becomes the ozonic notes . This is my only hesitation because it makes you feel that it has no longevity and projection but it becomes a skin scent that it is there.

I sprayed this on my wrist just once two days ago, and I can still smell it if I sniff close to the skin. And that's after spending quite a bit of time swimming in a lake yesterday! Sure, it doesn't smell the same as it did during the first few hours—the orchid is gone—but there's this really pleasant sweet saltiness left, and obviously no projection anymore

I like the OG, but the Intense is much better to my nose. It's deeper with a smoother, less sweet opening. I'm not getting much cocoa yet, although I suspect that's where Intense's richness comes from. While either fragrance can be enjoyed year-round, I'd say the OG is more spring/summer and the Intense is more fall/winter in vibe. :)

It’s close to the OG but performance is MUCH better. This lasts hours longer on my skin than the OG. The opening is a tad bit different but I appreciate it. Now is it a beast, no but I’m also not paying 500 bucks for it. I paid about 140 for it after I applied my points and my discount at Ulta.

A summery, beach-inspired composition built around salty, ozonic accords resting on a delicate floral sweetness with a touch of cocoa. This is not a sweet gourmand fragrance. (I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review) The opening is very similar to the original. The vanilla is more of a general sweetness and the ozonic accord gives it a fresh, airy quality. The cocoa is NOT what I anticipated. I expected a realistic dry, dark, bakery cocoa. There might be a HINT of that but I feel like that note is actually imparting something slightly fruity. This would be easy to wear in the summer and into fall.

I smelled this in store and really liked it! I'm not a fan of the original gorgeous orchid, it just smells like banana to me. But this one has way more depth. I didn't test this on skin, just on paper. So I can't speak for how it smells with my skin chemistry.

Just a blotter test but it is very promising. Juicy fruity-floral with delectable backgroung. The notes are abstract and hard to describe but deep. On paper it lasts very well. Reminds me of Dolce Garden with the gourmand note.

Smells tropical fruity, and not floral to me. It's creamy, almost suncreeny in a good way, but not fresh-floral forward like some of the other Gucci Flora's. It's not very cocoa-y in the beginning, but the longer it sits, it starts to smell like a salted brownie. Overall, a little thrown off by the fruitiness, but smells fruity dessert with salt and a hint of milk-chocolate--you'll probably enjoy this as a warmer weather fragrance if you love gourmands, but the salt may be polarizing (I love salt notes, but they can really change with skin chemistry)

I wore it all day at work and while exercising. I didn't receive any compliments, and I couldn't really smell it on myself either. Even though it's an "Intense" version, it has absolutely no staying longer. Compared to the original, this flanker is simply sweeter. And, I would definitely prefer the original scent.

It’s like a more refined version of a bath & body works fragrance that I can’t remember the name of but it’s not the deep rich “intense” orchid the name suggests, it’s a bit airy vanilla.

Weirdly, it smells like bananas to me. More so on the paper, on my skin this banana smell mixes with cacao a bit, but still a strong banana scent that gives me headache.

No. As a scent, it lacks the ethereality, airyness, the brightness and solar vibe the OG has. I detect 0 cacao. It's more grounding than the OG. Projection & sillage: HUGE. Annoyingly eternal 😂 And something weird that happened to me personally: I absolutely adore and own the OG and when I tested this one I was happy, because it's much more intense and almost the same (without the airyness, the brightness and solar vibe the OG has). HOWEVER, it has something grounding that made me nauseous for days!!! I couldn't believe it. I am a vanilla girl and after smelling this and having brought a test paper with me at home, I was nauseous to any vanilla scent ANY sweet scent. I'll stay away from it. 🤢🤢🤢 Update: it might be the salt note, which I don't detect per se, but I know salt notes make me nauseous! 🧂

Personally, DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE YEAR. I love the OG and looking by the notes here, the pyramid suggest this is even more ozonic and salty. Unfortunately, this is just heavier vanilla which made it cloying, at least in 25C heat. I see this being more appropriate for autumn and winter. I thought that this version will bring the best of the OG, instead, it's just a version with a deeper base and it lost the ozonic, airy aspect of the fragrance on the way, there's nothing marine about it, the pyramid on fragrantica is totally wrong. This version smells closer to most of the arabic dupes, which I have at least 3 so far (that's how much I like the OG, but none of the dupes replicate the very opening of Gucci GO OG, which has a unbeatable ozonic freshness), and because of this, I can't see myself buying a full bottle, can't justify the price vs performance. Is it heavier and more long lasting than the OG? Yes So if you want a long lasting Gorgeous Orchid and don't care about the OG opening but more about the drydown, just get an arabic dupe. I don't get a lot of the cacao, which I was also really counting on, there's a bit of it, but only if you're really sniffing into your skin. Really meh experience overall. I really wanted an amped up version of this for the summer, not a sultry vanilla one for winter if you know what I mean. SADDLY, they went in the wrong direction with this one.

Ok, hear me out. Firstly, I want to make sure that everyone understands that I absolutely do NOT compare Gucci to Guerlain as houses. These cannot be compared; they are universes apart. That being said, the only other time I experienced the vanilla-marine profile done well was in Aqua Allegoria Bosca Vanilla. That is a beautiful, very unique fragrance, and importantly, not floral-forward. So there is already a distinction. BUT! If you want a more - I really don’t want to say cheaper, so let’s say easier and less demanding fragrance (not that BV is difficult to wear, but more in terms of status), Gorgeous Orchid Intense can give you an idea of whether a fresh vanilla-marine profile can work for you. Another point: the intense versions of perfumes are usually much heavier and edgier, but that really isn’t the case here with Orchid. The main difference between OG and Intense is the cocoa, which would normally bring some density, but it really doesn’t as much as one would expect. The fragrance stays fresh. Not light, but not down-pulling either. The performance is solid, and in the dry-down you get much more of the orchid and vanilla, much less the ozonic marine notes. I’m generally not wowed by Gucci, and the Gorgeous line is more or less mediocre to me. Jasmine and Orchid are quite pretty, though.

I do like the OG Gucci Gorgeous Orchid, but on me it always lacked projection and longevity. When I saw this one at Sephora and tried it, I loved it. I sprayed a tester strip, my arm & sleeve. The scent was very detectable hours later. The test strip still has scent to it, weeks later. I do get the cacao note, along with the OG DNA. There is no denying this is a flanker. It keeps what we love about the OG, adds a twist on the notes and amps up the strength. Is this a beast mode fragrance? No. It is however an intensified version of the Gorgeous Orchid DNA. I'm not sure you would need both? If the OG performs well for you, you may want to try this one for the added notes and strength. If you were interested in that. Otherwise I think having one of them would suffice. Depending on your lifestyle, the climate you live in and do you want such a similar flanker. For me the added strength made this one an easy purchase. The price is on the higher side of designer. I just got it 20% off on the MACY'S app. This is a good one to me, other's may find it redundant or unnecessary. Definitely give it a try if you enjoy the OG.

I only tried it on paper, so no full review, but I just wanted to write that I'm pretty certain this has orange blossom in it. The notes don't list orange blossom, and reviewers mostly just list every note and pretend that they can smell them, so when a note list is short like this, magically people stop listing notes. They're exquisite noses suddenly stop working! On paper, it smells amazing and like a deeper, richer, juicier version of the original with a certain elevated "bouncy" or "spongy" quality from orange blossom that is perfect. And I already own the original and thought it was very good. Need to try this on skin soon.

I love the original, so I thought I would enjoy this with the addition of the cocoa. Where is the cocoa??? This smells like the original but none of the addictive qualities of the dewy green top notes. It's like if you took the OG and boiled it down in a saucepan, it's initially stronger when you spray it but I don't notice it hanging around for longer than a few hours. I will wear it for a few days to see if anything changes but as of now this is a waste if you have the original.

Slightly conflicted by this. I sampled side by side with the OG (which is more powdery) and the intense feels much sweeter and dare I say surupy, despite not any listed fruit notes, (love the cantaloupe mention at earlier reviews and I wish I was more familiar with it to compare). Not sure if it is unique enough but I can see it being mass appealing and pleasant.

It’s beautiful, like a dewy orchid growing on the rock wall by the waterfall near the sea. I love that it’s soft and velvety, almost warm like. However maybe the salt note comes off too spicy, musky, powdery to my nose and gives this scent a generic feel? It’s lovely but my scent sensitivities won’t let me be great.

This does not smell like the original or the Arab dupe at all. This is so warm that it’s a totally different fragrance. I don’t know why it’s saying marine all I’m getting from this is vanilla and chocolate. But like a solar version. The original is a cold sweet vanilla.

Definitely a lot more similar to the original than you would think based on the notes, I would say it's 80% the same scent. I detect no cacao here at all, it's a salty vanilla, I really like this, probably more than the OG which is lovely as well.

Exactly the same as the first yellow bottle of Gucci Flora Gorgeous Orchid. Way too similar and close to original Burberry Goddess with the added cacao.

It smells sort of like the original but more syrupy with better longevity and more depth i smell the cocoa and it has a tropical vibe.

There îs nothing new or intense about this one. Smell just like og with same poor longevity
