Gucci Eau de Parfum II

Useed to wear to work as I got my 1st job, and was on cloud 9 for as long as the bottle lasted: this is really THE fragrance to make a woman feel that she is PERFECT: I felt so complete wearing this! The dominant blackberry shares the spotlight with a very tender jasmine, and indeed there's a fizzy-bubbly quality to it, so it has a "zing" even many hours later after the spritz, and just enough sugar to distinguish it from unisex, but less than required to place it right onto the "tacky stuff" shelf: the sweetness amount is juuuuuuust right! Coming off a little powdery at the start, it clears up and has only a tiny soapy shade, which is just enough to make one feel a minute-ago-out-of-the bubble-bath fresh; then there's a cool fresh surge of morning spring air! - this gave me personally such a mood lift everytime, despite quite a rocky patch in life I was going through back in those days. It also gives an incredible amount of confidence: what ingredient exactly that is - god knows, but as if by magic I would feel like I was a very self-established successfull businesswoman, who knows what she wants and will be respected and valued at all times, but will not give up her femininity even if she wants to "wear the pants" sometimes! This fragrance is indeed unique and is not like anything from the wide floral range available these days: one of a kind, therefore makes you feel even more special. And it is not a pink fragrance that is worn by every 15-year old on the block, it is indeed more raspberry-lilac coloured with a transparent cotton veil (the powdery aspect) and it sounds incredibly sophisticated on the skin after the drydown. I 100% agree with those who chose it or is considering choosing it as a wedding fragrance: it has this " fresh new start" feel about it. I actually loved the bottle and its heaviness and stability: for a "got-up-too-late-so-running-like-a-headless-chicken-around-the-house" type that I am it was a godsent, since I was deeeeeeply traumatized once by dropping a tiny round flakon and losing the whole contents of a VERY pricey scent on the carpet ( that persisted smelling for years thus reminding me of that black day of the year!). For those, who like to travel through life with their perfume in a handbag there's a perfect solution such as a 30ml version of it - probably designed especially for that purpose, so I really can't see an issue with usage comfort here. The big bottle looks veeeery refined without looking like an item from an apothecary ( I know,I know, there's a charm in that too, but not for this kind of scent imho). I have used up 1 big bottle (75ml) and a small one (30ml), and after years of playing with other scents I am ready to come home to this one - for warm seasons ( it is so full of spring that I cannot imagine this being worn in winter, when I am gasping for a cosy or sultry oriental). It used to be my day-and-night scent, but as an eveningwear it only go with a sleek bordering on minimalistic look: straight lines, minimum accessories , an impeccable hairdo (updo) and pastel colours - the effortless chic that is so hard to attain sometimes! I can see this being a very obvious "rich b**ch scent, at least it makes me feel that not only I am worth a million - I also have one!:) Since I don't, I will be roaming ebay pages in a search of a bargain, starting now!

Edit: Aahhh I got it! After a few months of searching, I got super lucky and finally got a big bottle of this from a verrryy generous person. My heart could explode. It's everything I remembered it to be, and I'm so glad to find it again! I gotta ration my sprays, so I'm def still hoping that Gucci revives this one or I can find a good dupe easily accessible in the US. I've tried most of the top recommended ones on here, none of which really come close. But I just ordered Peony & Peppercorn from Banana Republic, so I'll be able to do a comparison & review once it gets here. Fingers crossed! ----------------------- I FINALLY found the perfume I was looking for!! I had a sample of this back in the day (mid to late 00's) that I kept in my wallet/coin purse. I loved it so much, but never had the funds to purchase. I never imagined Gucci would get rid of something so popular. I had my little spray for years, and I always kept it in its little pink case due to its potency. To this day, I still remember it so well. The sample made my entire purse smell soo amazing - a beautiful peppery, rosy, fruity, pink floral smell that lasted forever. The memory of this is still embedded so deeply in my brain. Fast forward to the last couple months, I suddenly remembered the little pink Gucci perfume I had before, and I started looking all over the internet for it. I was looking thru all of Gucci's pink perfumes and I kept seeing this one. After many blind buys and tons of searching, I looked up the sample version of this, and I finally saw an image of the exact little pink plastic case I had. I finally found it. What was excitement quickly mixed with sadness and dread, as I realized that in my search, I'd come across many people also looking for this one or it's dupe. There were a couple on eBay, but they're going for hundreds of dollars, and that's still a gamble. Alas, I am still on the search. I will continue to seek out this perfume and try some of the similar ones listed here / on forums. Maybe one day I'll get lucky and find a bottle of this leftover at a store. Or maybe Gucci will decide to revive this fragrance. For now, I'm just glad I finally figured out for sure what it is I've been looking for.

i have been wearing this for years. this is my SIGNATURE scent, I love it to death, I love how it smells on me. it's so difficult to find this perfume nowadays, i had to go to at least 2-3 malls to find one. i hope this isnt gonna be discontinued, and im so freaking furious at GUCCI. why must they discontinue a good perfume?? this smells so fresh and fruity ( not cloyingly fruity), puts a smile on my face everytime i spray it on my body. this perfume has that effect on me. versace bright Crystal has almost similar notes as Gucci II, but Gucci is more peppery and fresh, whereas Bright Crystal is more on the sweeter side. the top note is the BEST, makes me wanna breathe it deep in me, never want it to leave me. the dry down is somewhat very soft, but it's there. i have been to many stores and tried every single perfume there is out there, hoping I could catch myself a dupe or anything that smells close to this, but there is none. NONE. NOTHING SMELLS LIKE IT, and thats what makes me super crazy about it. I will always repurchase this, I will always look for it anywhere I go, simply coz it's considered extinct nowadays. i hope there is a Gucci reps reading this now, I hope she or he will bring this matter to Gucci Ceo, or whoever that is in charge of deciding to DISCONTINUE this exquisite perfume. there is NO OTHER perfume that smells like GUCCI II, this is truly ONE in A MILLION perfume. update (30/3/17) been buying and testing lots of other perfumes but when i came home to this, i went weak at the knees, EVERYTIME. so bummed that Gucci Edp ii isnt available here anymore

I am so crazy happy that i have found a DUPE of this perfume, thanks to someone who commented below (thank you so much to this person, i can’t seem to find the comment back). I have been so desperately looking for this smell, when i’ve read the comment about the dupe, i took the risk of ordering a dupe version of this perfume and MAN IT SMELLS FOR 90% the same to me. In case someone is looking for it, the website is called: eclat.de and the number of the perfume is 222. I hope that people who love this smell so much like me will buy it there, so they will keep making it. I am even worried about the fact that when nobody buys it, there will probably be a risk of them not making it anymore. I have had more than 50 perfumes in the past decade but this one is my all time favorite... I have known this one for more than 15 years. I cannot explain why or which notes specifically but i think the combination of all the notes it’s just so unique to me. It’s smells like a fierce and passionate woman who knows what she wants without being arrogant, and a little sexy as well. Not like a sweet and lovely girl scent to me. Not too sweet but still feminine enough. Really nothing smells like it to me. This perfume will have a special place in my heart for the rest of my life ❤️.

I had been curious about this scent because I love the original Eau De Parfum even though they are complete polar opposites.. I stumbled upon three bottles of this and a tester at a Sephora so I squirted it on my wrist and I liked it a lot.. This is a modern pink fruity floral which we know is the common trend going on in women's perfumery.. The difference between this and the rest of the fruity florals is that Gucci Eau De Parfum II manages to give the fruity floral effect without the overdone fruity notes and the wallop of sugar that I detest! It goes on very fresh cool and tart! It stays tart through to the heart of the fragrance, and than the fruity notes start to show themselves more.. The florals are there but are tame and done just right! There is some musk and cedar in the base along with some heliotrope that grounds the scent and leaves a very nice simple pleasant drydown.. This is a classy, sophisticated fruity floral that can be worn by a women and not just young girls.. I really enjoyed experiencing this one.. The best fruity floral I have ever came across!

This is one of my absolute favorite perfumes and I still kick myself over tossing out the last few squirts from my 1oz bottle back in 2011. I hope Gucci brings this back. I ended up purchasing several bottles of a dupe from eclat.de called No. 222 on mention from Kaliyanei and Aneta_Kometa. I'm from the US and purchased directly from the German site. They updated the order within a few days to add shipping and it took about a month to get to me but well worth it! It's not a 100% dupe (though I have to admit, it's been over 10 years since I smelled the original). I remember the original being more fruity with the berry notes and crisp/clean with the slight pepper note - elegant yet worked for casual outings as well. This dupe is more floral on clothes, but on skin is pretty spot-on with the berry notes I remember. Longevity isn't as good as the original imo, but I'm extremely pleased to have this in my collection! I felt it was important to update with my experience for those in the US who saw the same mentions but weren't sure about purchasing.

9/10 I love this one. There is nothing disagreeable about this fragrance to me. It is a people pleaser. I am surprised people are saying this is too green/peppery. I definitely get the pepperiness (from the cedar?) but it is not overwhelming at all and never dominates over the fruit. The slight wafts of pepperiness are what make this intriguing and peculiar to me and not just another jammy fruity perfume. This is all about the sweetness of blackberry and blackcurrant rounded out by the freshness of cedar. It feels like I have been transported to magical summer forest, which is exactly where I want to be! It is ageless for me, I feel it would be appropriate for any age of woman (or man) with a little bit of whimsy in their heart. Lasting power is not great with this one, I find it fades after a few hours. And I have to dig it out of the corners of the internet at ~~$50 for 1 oz. Boyfriend test: He loves this one. He will dig this face into my neck if I spray it. He is finicky about perfumes and hates traditional, heavy "old lady" perfumes.

I came back to add to my review below, since I've heard that many people get woody and peppery notes from this. I have to say that amazes me and it must be due to totally different skin chemistries. So if you are about to buy this, I highly recommend testing first. On my skin this a beautiful sweet berry scent with some peonies and violet. A very feminine and girly scent, the colour of which would definitely be pink if this scent had a colour (even if it wasn't literally pink in the bottle, I mean). No woody cedar notes whatsoever here for me. And trust me, my nose is usually very sensitive in picking up cedar notes, especially sharp ones (pencil shavings). Any spicy peppery notes? No, not on my skin. So this is a good example of a scent behaving in a very different manner depending on its wearer. That's a good thing, I would say, since it makes the scent a lot more interesting. But at the same time it might cause a lot of surprises if the scent is not tested before buying.

This is such a nostalgic fragrance for me. This was one of the first expensive designer perfumes I owned as a teenager in the 2000s. It was so different from the other scents that were popular at the time, Clinique Happy and Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise come to mind. Perfumes my mom wore. Not bad, but a little heavy on the sweet and fruity notes. Gucci II, however, is clean and crisp. It is the perfect combination of fruity and woody. There truly is nothing else like it. Although it would be an older perfume now, it remains timeless. It is such a classic scent that can be easily worn by today's youth, I believe. Such a shame that Gucci had to discontinue it, because as I said, no other fragrance smells anything like it. Also, thanks to the reviewer below me, tmr88, for recommending the dupe by Palermo! I'm going to have to try it when my current bottle runs out!

I may have written a review for this, but many years ago. So I’m onto my 3rd bottle. Rarely do I wear it, unless I need an urgent pick-me-up or I’m going somewhere nice. This may seem a little bit backwards, but I wear it rarely as I’m too afraid of it losing its special spark. I adore it so much I want to savour it & never ever tire of it.. if it’s possible to! Seeing as my current bottle is years old and sits on my bathroom sill with brief direct sunlight, I thought I would tell you how it’s held up. At least half of my other perfumes on the same window sill have lost their scent/gone stale. Gucci ii.. just as fresh and beautiful as when it’s new. Smells like no other perfume (note the ‘smells like’ section here & the comparisons almost have no votes). This scent is still my number 1 favourite, nothing compares, so elegant & happy, a definite winner :)

funny story... my birthday is coming up and i dreamed my husband gifting me this perfume gucci ll in full sized bottle and another 30ml size. it was so real that i could smell it in my dream and woke up in such good mood😄 i had this fragrance several times and everytime i finished one i got another one. i get bored easly and i don’t really have a signature scent but for me it could be easily gucci ll. this was literally best perfume of all times. smells like heaven. perfectly balanced between fruity, floral and green. very long lasting and not heavy, very bright, suitable for every season. the scent it self is on the cooler side so it’s ideal in a warm weather, but can be easlily worn all year around. gucci have to bring it back, exactly the same formulation! maybe a different bottle. it is the best scent ever. its just beautiful. i really miss it.

Gucci II is a long time love of mine. It was hard to find a few years after I first began wearing it so when I did find it I bought 3x50ml bottles. One is in use but I dread running out of it. It opens with what I perceive to be a slightly peppery green note in combination with fruits, mainly berries. The florals in this are very well blended and I can only distinguish what I believe to be lily from it. This fragrance also has a slightly powdery, woody finish.The bottle design is beautiful, rounded lid on a cuboid base in heavy glass, love the mix & match of shapes. Not travel friendly though and in a pinch it can be used as a weapon because of how heavy it is. Oh and great longevity on this one. It is a master piece and I hope Gucci listens to everyone pleading for this to be brought back.

This perfume has a fresh citrusy opening. It wakens you up. After a while it gets softer. The citrus disappears and, for me, the red berries come in. The dry down is lovely. It turns to fresh and soft at the same time... I can't explain it better :-) . It's classy, not cloyingly. More of a springtime, summertime perfume, but if you like, you could pull it off all year round. It softens up a lot, so much so I think it has disappeared after a few hours. But if I smell my wrist, it's still there. It's a perfume that seems to have no sillage, but that isn't true, I just can't smell on me. But a day later I can still smell it on my sweater without having to put my nose to it. I love the bottle, it's very elegant and heavy. That does give it an expensive feel :-) .

I recieved my first heavy on glass of a lid, perfume,Gucci ll edp,I really like this one,i have nothing like this other than harajuku lover super G's by Gwen stafani if you wanna save,they smell very close,but gucci on my skin lasts&lasts,idk if its cuz its marchy lucky birthday month,but its an excuse for my perfume hual....shhh!Yeah so to me this perfume smells like a sexxy pepper,with being lovely strange enuff,it smells unique....but even though its new,ill only wear on special nights out,only due to being discontinued tho,like i do my black opium ysl,but this is different its a tomboy in a black little dress with her head up going to a fancy dinner at night.I liked after drydown about an hour&it lasts 8hrs,skin.

This is soft and sheer, very work appropriate. Fruity and inoffensive but that doesnt mean generic or bad. I absolutely love it and wish it were available in the large bottle. I can only find it in discount websites/ebay. It is underrated, for sure. It makes me happy whenever I smell it. This is the only thing I own a back up bottle of! EDIT: I broke into my backup bottle when my little 1 oz finally ran out. I had been using it very seldom, since I didn't want to use it up, so I had sort of forgotten (or perhaps my new standard is higher) that it disappears so fast on me. The longevity of perhaps a strong body spray. Still absolutely ADORE the smell, I just wish it was stronger and lasted longer on me.

This is a masterpiece without a doubt. So sad it discontinued. Managed to get my hands on a 30ml bottle. This is a cedar and blackberry fragrance the rest of the notes are there to provide the background. I've been trying to find a similar perfume and have tried the Paul Smith's Extreme woman which was created by the same nose and shares some notes but the tea note there diverged the two scents. Alas will have to keep on looking. What a shame they have discontinued it, it's absolutely divine and ageless, one of those that you can wear anytime anywhere and still leave a lasting impression. On the downside it is short lived but I can forgive that.

I am not a fragrance expert, but Gucci EDP II was my signature scent for years and when I smell Angel Nova on my skin several hours after ONE spray (because it is A LOT), it reminds me of the Gucci EDP II dry down. I always see the Gucci II described as a fruity floral, but to me it was more a fruity-woody scent and that is what I get at the end of Angel Nova (after you get through the rose - there is a very distinct rose stage that Nova has that EDP II obviously does not have). Would be curious if anyone else notices a similarity or if I just became so nose blind to the Nova that I wasn’t really smelling it properly anymore at that stage.

To me this scent is sweet and pink, almost a girly scent. Yet sophisticated enough for me to feel like wearing it. So it's not overly sweet, I guess the woody notes balance it out just right. And this scent has that certain coldness to it, which makes it adorable to me. This became one of my favorite scents at the time when I tested it at an airport some 10 years ago. It's been hard to find since, so I'm glad I have backup. I don't use it enough though, since somehow I find myself thinking it's a bit generic these days. Based on some reviews below I might be totally mistaken though. I should actually start wearing this more.

I consider this my "lucky" fragrance. It's the perfume I was wearing when my partner and I bought our first house - I wanted to wear something that made me feel confident because I was super nervous and this just made me feel like I could take on the world. Now when I wear it, it just reminds me of that excitement and being so happy and crying happy tears while drinking champagne haha! I love the berry notes in this. I don't wear a lot of fruity perfumes but this seems really unique to me. I'm so sad that this is discontinued and I use my bottle so sparingly. I'd love to find a dupe

Notes that stand out strongest for me are green, powdery and violet. It’s a masterpiece of a scent with ultra fem’, freshness that reminds me of spring and makes me reminisce about my youth and puts me in such a happy mood - a real treat - yet, they discontinued it! I got hold of the last two bottles I could but, private sellers were selling them at astronomical prices so I had to give it up despite it being my favourite perfume of all time but, Gucci have opted to deprive me of it! So gutted. Anyone who doesn’t want their bottle, pls let me know I’ll take it off your hands :)
