Gucci Guilty Essence Pour Homme

⚠️ A little caution: This cologne causes olfactory fatigue very quickly for me. I can only smell it on myself for the first 1-2 hours, and then my nose completely stops picking up the scent. BUT... everyone else around me can still smell it! I was genuinely surprised. For example, one day I sprayed it around 8:00 AM before work (just 4 sprays: one on each side of my collar, and two on the back of my neck). That evening, around 7:00 PM, I went out for dinner with my girlfriend. She immediately complimented me, saying, "Your cologne smells so lovely!" She said this even though I couldn't smell it at all anymore. (However, when I took off my shirt, I could still catch a faint trace of it.) As an Asian person, I think this might be well-suited to the Asian nose, or perhaps my skin chemistry. I have received many compliments from people in the office asking what cologne I am wearing (but of course, I didn't tell them! 😉 I don't want everyone in the office smelling like me!). Scent comparison: Gucci Guilty Essence smells very similar to Gucci Guilty Black. However, I feel that the Gucci Guilty Essence causes my nose to become accustomed to the scent much faster than Gucci Guilty Black. With Black, I could always detect a faint hint of it throughout the day. With Essence, the olfactory fatigue hits fast, yet people nearby can still definitely smell it on me. Final Verdict: I truly love the scent of Gucci Guilty Essence. It makes me feel clean, fresh, and slightly sweet with a noticeable green undertone.

This fragrance gets a lot of hate and I can understand where it's coming from, but personally I love Gucci Guilty Essence. It is a simple fragrance that is executed very well. A dark green fougere that is very patchouli forward. Combines an aromatic lavender, herbal green patchouli, white florals, and a classic cedar base. I love GGE because of how versatile it is. You can wear this in literally any situation, any season, any time and you will smell well put together. For this reason I bought the 6.7oz bottle. Quickly becoming a main contender for my daily fragrance. Does it reinvent the wheel? No. Not every fragrance has to be some complex, thought provoking experience. GGE is a perfect example of a dumb reach. I see quite a lot of reviews saying GGE has poor longevity and sillage. Keep in mind this is an EDT concentration. I put 7 sprays directly on skin and got nearly 12 hours of performance in a 90F factory. I've worn EDPs with much worse performance. HEAVILY slept on fragrance. Gets a ton of unwarranted hate. I love it. So sue me.

The name change really fits it now - it takes the "essence" of the original and adds a bit of character to it, unlike GG Absolute or GG Oud where it's a completely different thing. To my nose, this basically smells like the discontinued Intense flanker, but instead of the amber and chocolatey patchouli, it focuses on the coriander, lavender and cedar, making it a bit fresher and greener. It's quite redundant if you already have the original EDT or the Intense though. Great for everyday wear, it's fresh, safe and masculine, I'm sure no one will dislike it. The performance isn't as bad as people say/have said about Guilty Black, it should last 6-8 hours on your skin and project for an hour or two without any issues. This used to be expensive, but as of now it hit discounters, so it can be a worthy pickup if you are looking for something different than the ambroxan-heavy and candy sweet designers released today.

Gucci has re-released Gucci Guilty Black as Gucci Guilty Essence. Same fragrance and notes, with a slightly different bottle and a new name, Essence. I get a mainly lavender and patchouli fougere, it smells fresh and clean with its cedar base holding it all together. This is definitely a "men's" fragrance. However, I find it rather unoriginal and generic, especially considering that most of these Gucci Guilty fragrances have the exact same scent profile. I like it, but it's far too expensive to justify buying at retail and prices even on discounters are still ~$90. I would see this being a great fragrance for someone just getting into the hobby, someone who just needs something that smells fresh and clean without needing to impress. It'd be excellent for office wear or as a daily driver dumb reach.

I wear this at work. I spray on skin and on clothes. By the time I get to the office, it’s already just a memory of itself. It’s very discreet for the rest of the day but I still catch faint whiffs here and there, especially if I’m walking up flights of stairs etc. That’s what it excels at. It’s so weak it won’t ever bother anyone, but when people pass me by or get close, they catch hints of it. Even though there aren’t any notes of mint, lime or white rhum, the opening always reminds me of a freshly made mojito. I love it.

A clean, non complicated easy-to-wear scent. It mainly consists of lavender, orange blossom and cedar, and what I particularly like about this is the very reserved use of amberwoods or ambroxan in the blend. Honestly it is such a reliable, uncomplicated scent that it's impossible to dislike. I even love it for how practical it is, the ultimate dumb-reach fragrance that fits every scenario from april to october. Sometimes you wanna play it safe, smell good and be sure not to disturb others and this will do it.

Smells like Guilty, but as the name says, the Essence. Smells rich. Just a few sprays lasts longer than a few hours. More versatile. Layers well with other woody fragrances to extend the performance. I would easily wear this in the winter. I don't get offended by the mild aquatic in this and I hate aquatic. Maybe it's the soapy lavender opening moving into the neroli and orange blossom. Only need a handful of sprays and it's perfect for a night out, lile a darker and more mature version of Guilty.

This is a beautiful scent for sure to be loved by majority of people. Yes, agreed it’s a safe smell but the ratings on this seem very unfair. An easy 4.2/5. Got it at a great offer price and Im going to enjoy wearing it and have it my humble collection.

By far the frag with the lowest rating here that I love the most. This isn't generic to me at all, even in a 50+ bottle collection. I agree with "perfect rainy day fragrance" This doesn't make my top 10, but it is definitely one of my favorites. 8/10

Just Gucci guilty black renamed. Seems good , safe option for a fresh clean fresh out of the shower lavender scent. Nothing special but women love it tho.

I had this fragrance for years and it was one of my favorites. Pretty good, pleasing fragrance for like $100 at Walmart.

Big fan of the scent, wish it lasted longer. I carry a travel spray to reapply with if I want it to last all day

Identical to GG Black, smells aquatic, green and fresh. Perfect for spring & summer occasions.

This Is The Prefect Rainy Day Fragrance

I am not a fan of the Guilty collection so it was a surprise that I really liked this . It's a very clean aromatic. It almost has a slight soapy vibe to it . You get the lavender , neroli, coriander at first . The orange blossom is very light , it not like in any other fragrance . Right away the patchouli comes on . It's the main carrier but it's a very light patchouli. I don't like fragrances with patchouli that really stands out . But in this it does it's job by mellowing everything out and kind of being the ride for everything else. After the woods kick in but also very mellow. It reaches its final stage pretty quick. Super mellow aromatic that is very clean and slight soapy. Not ground breaking but it smells really good. Where this fails is the performance. Normal application will result in a skin scent after about 30 minutes. It will be a close skin scent for about 4 hours then disappear. This is something you can apply heavy and not be offensive. It makes for a really good day time or work fragrance . I have gotten a good 5 hours out of this with like 10 sprays . If you want it to be somewhat strong into 10 sprays with 4 of the on clothes is a must. I don't mind respraying throughout the day so it's not a big issue but performance does suck. Aside from that it's a very versatile fragrance . I give it a solid 7/10

First thing is this smells good. Now with that statement it’s not something you should rush to get. It is better than Guilty EDT as far as performance and scent. It’s good for year round Signiture or office scent. But it’s still nothing special and even though it’s better IMO than the OG it’s still nothing special and a strong performer. Due to the price is why I am saying not to rush and get it. Even on discounters this is still way overpriced. I’ll give it a 4/5 only because I have the EDT 3/5 and this is better but I won’t buy again.

This stuff's OK... It's nice... It's pleasant... Honestly? If you're a fan of the designer frags found at your average Macy's counter, this is your vibe. (Yawn...) At this time, it's rated about 3.68 out of 5.00 here. That's about right. (Yawn...) Step up your game, people. There is better stuff out there. Let's at least TRY to show some personality. On a side note, I don't have it, but Guilty Elixir is a weak attempt to enter the Amouage Reflection Man space. Now THAT'S hilarious!! :)))

I tried a sample of this. It is a very nice lavender soap smell that everyone will love. It almost leans feminine which is not a bad thing at all. The problem is it does not last or project at all. I will not be buying this.

I had this fragrance as a gift and liked both opening smell and dry down smell. What made this fragrance not enter favorite fragrance is the longevity. I wish it had EDP version of something because this smells great.

I say this while actively liking the scent. I smelled it and immediately recognized it... Its Axe Kilo, I know because I used to wear that back in High School.

5 sprays around the neck lasts 2-3 hours before the scent is totally undetectable, and it sits close to the skin. This is an incredibly weak aromatic fougère not worth your time or the price--even at discounters. Incredibly similar to Gucci Guilty Pour Homme, just with less sweetness and more of a focus on the aromatics. It's a bit green. Might be a decent pull on a summer day, but again it only lasts about 2-3 hours before it's gone, so do you really want to waste your time with this? There are better smelling cheaper alternatives that achieve the same or better performance for summer. Skip this, the value and performance simply aren't there.

Opening really smells like %90 percent of the deodorants, but drydown is better. Woody, very earthy and tad a bit sweet-floral. If you smelled Guilty Black this will be quite similar to that but I say they are not exactly the same, original Black was more ''minty'' and this is more earthy. The performance is weak but it is better than Black as I remember. Overall, it will suffice. Not something very unique or not something that will get all the attention but a solid everyday-office wear. Same usage with fragrances such as MB Legend. The price is a bit expensive for the performance you get, so try discounters.

Got this in a sampler pack with 2 other Gucci Guilty scents (GG EDT and EDP) and this is the weakest of the three. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's a fairly generic soapy fresh scent (mostly lavender and wood) that doesn't last or project very well. Doesn't help that it's expensive too. Okay but far too many better more interesting choices and better values than this lackluster flanker.

Spray a lot, spray your clothes. This is a tough scent to keep going for more than 6 hrs unless you apply it heavily, or reapply during the course of a longer day. Smells great, but will be more generic to those familiar with the scent profile, as stated by previous reviews.

pretty generic "mens cologne" smelling leaning slightly green but its the typical middle ground cologne smell. almost like irish spring soap-type clean smell. not bad though just basic.

My least favorite of the Guilty line. Not bad...just better options IMHO. It could make a very sage spring through fall office fragrance. Projection in below average, and it is a pleasant DNA...so not many will notice the fragrance unless they get close enough. Glad I was able to sample for a couple of days. I would have been super upset if I found all this out after full bottle purchase. Can’t stress enough....sample before you buy.

Again? We already had GG Black in the same bottle. Looks like Gucci marketing mignons are bored with their creativity. Can they imagine how we are bored?!

Gucci Essence EDT is okay, its a DNA thats existed for decades in cheaper brands from Axe to Curve for men; its simple, linear, inoffensive & mostly lavender & patchouli... very little orange blossom or neroli. Nothing more to say, save your money on something cheaper, not worth price

First impressions: (sample) What’s going on in here. It’s calming, then earthy and it’s sharp, but also weak. Nope. That’s a weird combination.

Personally I love this I saw the reviews and got a little sad. My boyfriend had been wanting this for months, and I finally scraped up some money to get it for him for Christmas. I gave it to him early cause we’re horrible at waiting to give each other gifts and I was just so excited to be able to get it for him. I know he’d be so sad if he saw the reviews. The scent is light and airy and masculine at the same time. It’s very refreshing and I think the dry down smells very unique. Maybe it just works really well with his skin chemistry. Subtle and tranquil it’s not one of those colognes that slaps you in the face when you walk into a room, but it is one of those when you get close to somebody you get a wiff of and you think “wow, they smell good”. I also agree with people that say the perfect rainy day scent but I also just don’t think it’s just that I think this is an awesome everyday cologne if you don’t wanna punch people in the face with intensity while wearing it. Every time me and my boyfriend went to Ulta in Sephora. He had to spray it on himself. I’m trying to get him into perfume/cologne like me safe to say I think he’s getting there. lol when we picked up this one, he’s already smelling other things and putting things on his future list like I do :)

Even if there was something unfortunate like a banned ingredient that could’ve caused a reformulation (just trying to think of something else that makes sense) there is literally no reason for Gucci to change the name Guilty Black to Guilty Essence. The only thing I can think of is Gucci is trying to take advantage of the fact that the general public doesn’t know or remember Guilty Black so they want to release a “new” fragrance to the general public and then have sales associates at department store and vendors for Coty/Gucci shove it down people’s throats and because this is just a safe & generic release it will sell well and make them more money. INSANELY lazy on Gucci’s part to do this. It’ll be funny if other designer brands do this as well with their older fragrances

lol this is a designer mainstream Gucci scent meant to be mass appealing and easy to wear. Why are so many people surprised this isn’t complex? I’m not blown away by it but your average person that’s not into fragrances like us will most likely really appreciate this and think you smell amazing. Especially the ladies. Not every scent has to be some complex I love it but it’s smells strange winter scent that you can only wear on the 5th of January on a night it’s raining and snows in 2 hours. This is a great spring fragrance! I do not recommend blind buying anything since testers are like 3 bucks each but this is a safe blind buy. This is similar to Chanel Allure Sport however this leans towards more towards fresh soapy scent then it turns into a berry like dry down. I originally got the Gucci Black tester and once I found out this is the same thing I got the Essence bottle. I can confirm its the same thing. They probably got rid of the term "Black" for PR/customer sensitivity reason. Only downside is it does feel a bit on the weak side when it comes to longevity.

Gucci Guilty Elixir is great so I have high hopes for this, but why have they basically used the exact same bottle as Gucci Guilty Black? Is it a flanker of Black? IFragrance says so but it's not shown in the marketing. Edit: "Gucci have rebranded their Gucci Guilty Black Pour Homme as Gucci Guilty Essence Pour Homme (Eau de Toilette), retaining the same beloved scent while introducing a fresh narrative around self-acceptance and authenticity." Just a new name for Gucci Guilty Black, the usual suspects will still cry about it I'm sure

It's not a re-launch per se, it's a "Re-stage." For whatever reason "essence" fits in better with their collection than "Black" - probably because it goes better with the lineup. Gucci Guilty, EDP, Absolu, Elixir, Essence. It feels less like a separate fragrance and more like a concentration - even though we know it's the older perfume in a slightly different presentation.

I can understand why someone would be underwhelmed with Guilty essence. the opening is very generic and kind of a mess of notes clashing. However, the drydown is much better, it's calming and smoother than the opening. Overall I d say 7.5 out of 10.

honestly don’t get the hate don’t buy this and the original as you don’t need both but i love the smell and it lasts long on my skin. to me i get alot of woods and pine notes if i were to describe it simply it reminds me of a forest in the morning.

GGB is one of my old time favorites! Real talk it’s a compliment magnet pure magic, but come on GUCCI AT LEAST RELEASE IT AS AN EDP OR PARFUM VERSIONS!!! SMH 🤦♂️ Of course I’ll buy it lol 😂

Another Dior Sauvage, Eros EDP, etc - lavender, patchouli scent. Its just a weak Axe deodorant fragance.

Got it cheap at Boots, but it's so bad it's not a good deal. Just get Prada Infusion D'cedre.
