Gucci Nobile

GUCCI NOBILE, 1988 Walking through an English flower garden; ferns all around. The rain has just cleared and the soil very moist. I take a deep breath, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. A very long, profound, deep breath. When I spray Gucci Nobile, I am reminded of how aromatic fougere should be. I inhale lavender with its herbal medicinal facets, a lovely confectionary bergamot that imparts that foody-cremy take to the lavender. All is counterbalanced by a hint of rosemary and refreshed by a lovely tarragon (Les Indemodables are matsrs in using this herb). This opening paves the way to a floral heart: a garden surronded by tons of green notes with that amazing fir I would love to smell much more in today perfumes; it imparts that balsmaic quality, a screen on which the flowers grow luxuriant. A rosy geranium is ste start of the show along with a spicy in your face carnation accord that is smooth out by a hint of jasmine. The drydown is characterized by a hearthy vetiver, a smooth tonka, and engulfs you in a pre-regulation stunning oakmoss. To be a fragrance from the '80s, this is not as bold as others. Many fragcoms think its direct competitor was Drakkar Noir, but the latter is more about the patchouli and for me overall less interesting. It is difficult to pinpoint what circumstances made this not a hit in its time. Is it a vengeance that today the price for a bottle has skyrocketed? I still have this rare cologne after it was discontinued many years ago. How was I able to obtain it for free? Well my dad is not a big fan of any cologne but yet he received Nobile as a gift from a relative! He rarely wore it so as a kid I would sneak into my parents room and spray a few dashes on me and I would be off to middle school smelling like an old school pimp! Later my mom would whip my ass for wearing my dads cologne saying I was to young to wear that stuff...and she was right haha! I finally took the bottle with me when I started college. My impression as I am typing up this review and sniffing Gucci Nobile at the same time...I smell a citrus blend with a touch of herbs laid out on a wooden plate. Its nice its not offensive and yet it stands out quite strong inside a room. Compliments are a welcome addition as you make your way from one lady to another! Oh yea this reeks old school pimp haha! Its elegant and if it was still available today at a department store it would still hold its ground against other popular fragrances. I rarely wear it because I like to brag that I own half a bottle and even though its not the best... it still brings back memories of a time when it meant the world to me. If you happen to come across Gucci Nobile buy it and go make yourself some new memories with it. 8 out of 10

This is the quintessential aromatic fougère. It is my favorite fragrance in this perfume category. It is crisp and clean without being too soapy. Bergamot can make a fragrance feel dated if it is too strong, but it is wonderfully blended here. Whereas I just couldn't take Alain Delon ADPlus for its overbearing quantity of bergamot, in Nobile it is wisely balanced. Sandalwood is there but muted. And the lavender... If you love lavender attenuated just right for masculine appeal, you will certainly enjoy this. Yes, it was once very popular and sold quite well. Yes, GUCCI made a huge mistake and discontinued it. Frankly, I do not understand what plausible rationale was used if any. Yes, it has been copied and some have come extremely close (Alexander da Costa), but never quite complete or superior. Yes, you can find it but unfortunately it is very expensive now. No, it is NOT overrated. I recommend sampling this and giving it plenty of time. Gucci Nobile may appear a bit "familiar" at first, and perhaps not even exceptional, but wear it for a while... and then you'll see. There is something very special here. Is it worth the going prices? That's all relative. If you are adept at hunting, you will find deals. Personally, I think it is worth $2/1ml. Fragrance: 9.5, Longevity: 7.5, Value: 8.5

I had Gucci Nobile as a gift from a good friend on Fragrantica and what a surprise! It's rapidly becoming one of my favourite non-powerhouse fragrances from the past together with Insensè, Givenchy's Vetiver and Le Troisieme Homme. AMAZING! Gucci Nobile is a great alternative to the vulgar ostentation of opulence and to the "straight in the face" attitude of pretty popular and pretentious niche brands I won't name here. In this world dominated by "Greed" and ignorance, GN is the perfect fragrance for the laidback guy who doesn't need to shout out loud his charisma and elegance. He's self confident, cultured, mannered but not affected, generous, traditionalist but not a pharisee, aknowledged, discreet...and noble. A CLASSIC fougère with herbaceous notes, tobacco, citruses and a slight touch of lavander that's incredibly delightful. Gucci Nobile surely deserves a place in the "classic fragrances olympus" . Sadly discontinued. I guess Frida Giannini won't hear us... Absolutely recommended! Rating: 9.5/10

I remember when Noble selling in most retailers, now it's so overpriced, it's ridiculous. When I spray it on my skin, it awakens my senses. Being a fougère with oakmoss and lime with a sweet note of tonka bean, I can't help thinking about going through a flower garden with ferns after the rain has cleared and smell of everything coming together. The sweetness coming through has a cool green vib making it very easy to wear and not in your face. There's a slight hint of wood note, barely noticeable. Longevity and Sillage are both on the high end. It's a really shame that Gucci hasn't tried to bring it back. On that point, Dior with Sauvage and Trussardi to name a few have failed by using a iconic name but changed the DNA so much it should of been called something else. I'm so lucky that I have a mini bottle and a 50ml bottle. To me it's one of a few that works for all 4 seasons. Absolutely phenomenal 10/10

I'm glad I was able to get an original 5ml decant of this old school legend. It was love 😍 at first sniff and a successful blind buy. For me, this is the scent of a man who exudes confidence, power and elegance 🤵♂️. This is a precious diamond in my collection. I'll rate this magnificent creation a 10/10 👍😎 Update: Just received my 30 ml vintage bottle new in box and still sealed, never been opened. Bought it from an eBay seller and pricey as expected but I can’t be any happier. As days go by, this is harder and harder to find. A true classic that is now extinct in the fragrance market. This would be a valuable collectors item (if your nose agrees to it) if you own a bottle or just a small decant would be fine. “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. The two most beautiful fragrance in the world that will cost you nothing and will get you a totally different kind of compliments” 🙏

I can smell some of the associations listed above. Maybe take Rogue's Bon Monsieur and combine it with Lancetti Monsieur. It needs the slightly skanky accord of the Lancetti because Gucci Nobile has that. A bit similar to Milano Cento Him too. I can smell a little similarity with those of the Drakkar Noir DNA, i.e. Duk de Vervins, Lomani, Bowling Green. But only a little, as the Drakkar Noir profile is much more mentholated. But I don't smell similarity to Tom Ford Beau de Jour as someone opined, other than obvious Fougere family characteristics. Lol. Beau de Jour is my favorite barbershop Fougere. But too bad Gucci Nobile, like Gucci Envy for Men, is discontinued. They're good ones. Very good ones......and I just found me a 70% full bottle of Gucci Nobile and bought it. I did say it was very good, after all.

Does this really smell like Drakkar Noir? (I'm not slagging off DN BTW...I like it) NO! it definitely doesn't to me. Nobile is an interesting green, citrus chypre/fougere/cologne with that warm, rounded base, perhaps some sandalwood chiming in after a typically fresh and mossy start. I find it invigorating, quality men's business, lightly spiced and more complex than I can even bother to describe. Nobile is not a fragrance that one needs to spend a great deal of time explaining or describing. Nobile is manly, straight forwardly functional but not without Italian flair. Nobile just is. If you can find it and you love a good quality men's throwback fragrance that I defy you to find fault with then.... DON'T seek out Nobile, because I want that bottle you are watching on eBay. ;)

This is the quintessential Fougere, bring it back already Gucci.. Absolutely gorgeous scent, masculine, very sexy. Maybe if Gucci gets enough emails about it, just maybe, they would bring it back for us. 👍 Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (1996) THE (ORIGINAL) The Italian bottle with a Silver sticker that says Dolce & Gabbana Eau de toilette is another scent that Id give anything to bring back. Nobile and D&G 1996 are two of the best scents ever created! These companies have zero clue what people want.. BTW, Creed Bois Du Portugal is another Home Run too, get it before they totally discontinue it as well. I can't even imagine what those bottles will go for once gone. Grab as many as you can afford. The only place to get Legitimate Creed BDP is Creed Boutique nowadays. 👍

This is by far my all-time favorite EdT. In my humble opinion, the best masculine fragrance made by Gucci . From July 2016 to date, I've been lucky enough to find not one, but four bottles of this wonderful piece. It's a clean and crisp fougere plenty of green and spicy notes, perfectly balanced and refined by the floral combo; I can feel a smoky note (maybe provided by oakmoss and vetiver) that reminds me the smell of tobacco leaves. Despite its apparently old-fashioned olfactory structure, it doesn't feel out-of-date; you can find a highly pleasant and warm aroma on it. Nevertheless, it suits men around 30 y/o or older better. Excellent longevity and good projection. Simply a flawless masterpiece! Rating: 10/10

Nobile is the absolute definition of the "aromatic fougere" genre. Fantastic super fresh opening with crispy herbal notes enveloping the lavender and the citruses. Soon floral notes led by rose take over to soften the composition before it dries down to an amazing & long lasting woody ambery musky scent with obvious traces of tobacco. Nobile, despite its soapy clean and fresh style, radiates a type of genuine masculinity unmatched even by the harshest typical smoky-leathery "hairy" scents. It feels extremely elegant, bold & confident and despite its prominent retro 80's vibe, it is so refined and classy that can easily overshadow many of its modern counterparts. Irreplaceable. 9/10

There's good reason that the "this reminds me of" box is empty - nothing else smells like Nobile. No, it's not like Drakkor Noir. It has nothing to do with Sung pour homme. Believe me I've tried and tried to find something close, but to no avail. For those of you too young have experienced Nobile it is worth the time and money to get your hands on a bottle. I could almost cry over it discontinuation. You might get lucky with one of the five ml. bottles sold on ebay. But if it's not sealed and boxed the quality may be diminished leaving you with a flawed example and maybe the wrong impression entirely. One more thing. Claims that it shares anything with Old Spice are pure B.S..

I received my sealed (1993 batch 3273) 60ml bottle today. A blindbuy and I cannot be any more impressed. What a BEAUTIFUL fragrance. It is the definition of luxurious, fresh and CLEAN smelling. I obviously don't know how the later bottles smell but the early 1990s one is perfect in every way and to me worthy of the just over $200 paid. I sprayed a single spray on my hand and can still smell it clearly hours later. I own Bon Monsieur by Rogue Perfumery (which I love too) and cannot say that they are very similar. A friend suggested Nobile to me, as I love vintage from the 1990s Tsar a lot, it definitely is fairly similar in the middle and base notes.

Just smelled a decant and my initial thought was that it's smells gorgeous. Very balanced and deep. I think it definitely has a soapy vibe, kind of reminds me of Rive Gauche right? It has a dated side, but also modern. It is so well blended that it's both strong, soft, seductive and clean all at the same time. Pretty unique actually, but a little Rive Gauche like I said. I would love to have this and smell it some more. But they have somehow decided to stop making this. I don't see why-Gucci doesn't have many great fragrances for men. Gucci Pour Homme and Nobile is probably the two best I've smelled.

This is my type of scent, green, masculine, 80's era fougere which has that specific vibe which it shares with many other perfumes from that period, but this one is far, far, far better! First of all really strong scent. I have a aftershave concentration, but it's enough strong and last long. Scent is imo similar to some, also vintage perfumes that I had, and they have similar notes, but I don't know how they made this Gucci so better than others. It's rounded, deep, green, soft and sharp in the same time. If it is just a little bit cheaper, I would buy whole world stock of this scent :)

I am lucky enough to have been gifted a full, original bottle from the 80s by my great uncle. I had no idea what this was until I went down the rabbit hole. This is THE fougère. Green, fresh, herbaceous. This is an old-school scent that comes off as very elegant. Without sweetness and without synthetics. It's incredible how strong this juice is after 36 years. This will last 10 hours and project strong, without issue. I am very impressed. Needless to say, this is a classic. Too bad people sell bottles for $1,000 since it's discontinued.

Very nice fresh-spicy fragrance, witha focus on lavender, backed by aromatics, fir and a hint of creammy woods. This gives an overall impression of Coriander. I would agree that there is some similarities to Houbigant Duc de Vervins and Cerruti 1881, but none of these two would do for a great substitute. In my opinion, the closest fragrance to that one is Montana Comore. Now that my sample of GN is over, I'm glad I own a bottle of the Montana, and I might even prefer it to the Gucci, by an inch.

In high school I wore Polo and Drakkar Noir. However, when I went on dates or a big dance - I would sneak into my dad's closet and steal this Cologne. Very few knew what Gucci Nobile cologne was, so I would immediately stand out, and my date would love it. I won't pay the ridiculous prices for old bottles (don't trust the smell will be the same), but I'm puzzled why Gucci doesn't just re-release it? Guilty is good, but this stuff was incredible. I need to dig into dupes on this one...

One of the most amazing fougere opening, beautiful and uplifting. But too bad the drydown completely take a u-turn and become very mossy, I don’t like this part. It’s like a hybrid fragrance, first part is fougere and second part is chypre. Performance is excellent, 10 hours+ with a good projection. I only wish If they managed to maintain that amazing fougere opening part, sigh....

I had the pleasure of picking this up from eBay a few weeks ago. This can stand up in all temperatures I've tried it out in. It's a very pleasant, reserved yet masculine smell that peeks out from time to time to remind you and others that it's there. In fact this can stand up to a lot of modern fragrances out now.

The epitome of masculinity, virility and cleanliness. A fragrance every man should at least have the pleasure of owning, or at the very least sampling. The dry down to this thing is so smooth, so green, so smoky, so elegant. Words cannot describe its pure infinite elegance. To me, the definition of a fougere.

Wow, this is peak fougere. Opens with a strong carnation note. However, after 25-30 minutes it mellows out to a very smooth powerhouse 80’s-90’s fragrance. This really has one of the best dry downs ever. Not sure I would pay the going rates for a full bottle, but glad that I have the chance to wear it.

Just got this gem again, talk about nostalgia in a bottle! I almost forgot what a REAL fougere smells like! Don't get me wrong there's some gorgeous fougeres currently out there but nothing like smelling one from before the IFRA put the smackdown on the industry.

Nobile, one of the most beautiful scents that never have been created, I think this is the most beautiful natural perfume in the world, there is nothing so beautiful among the niche fragrances, I love it, it's a unique scent. 10, cause it's..... Perfect!

This is a very old-school smell. Soapy, and great for after a shower. I'm not huge on wearing this out, but it's pleasant. Was gifted a bottle by my great-uncle a year ago and haven't touched it much because I know it's been discontinued.

Well, I used up my 5 ml mini bottle last year. I decided I couldn’t live without it and purchased another 5 ml mini bottle plus a 30 ml bottle. Gosh, I really wish this juice was still around.

This was one of the loveliest fresh scents ever created. The exuberant fresh accord would lift your spirit. It is a shame, no a sin, that this gorgeous juice was ever discontinued.

Simply amazing. Probably the best all round fougere ever. Impressive quality and performance. Just grab it if you are enough lucky to get it.

This is a Masterpiece, Best Gucci of History, 10/10

Such a unique, rounded scent that I can't quite describe offhand, Gucci Nobile is a hidden gem that will grow on you easily if you give it a chance. Gucci Nobile is most definitely an aromatic fougère in the style of Drakkar Noir, but it's much more refined and enjoyable. What captivates me the most is the green, herbal lavender-rosemary-tarragon accord in the top complimented by patchouli. The lavender has a "foody", "cakey" feel to it, the same sort of smell I've detected before in lavender-dominant scents like Hypnose Homme by Lancome and Rive Gauche Pour Homme. Right out of the sprayer, I get a BEAUTIFUL sweet green accord that I've honestly never smelled before in a fragrance. There's also a brown, dry tobacco note in there that isn't smoky at all. As Gucci Nobile descends into the drydown, it gets deeper and darker, at times crossing paths with the green, spicy tobacco of Aramis Havana, or (dare I say it) the rugged, oily leather of Patou Pour Homme. However, Gucci Nobile manages to maintain this fougère character all by itself and it stays that way for a while - the stuff has amazing longevity. I can't help but feel that all the inexpensive, wildly popular aromatic fougeres of the past were all trying to be like this. Gucci Nobile was the prime target. Brut laid the foundation, Drakkar Noir presented the idea (it got sort of close), but Gucci Nobile perfected the aromatic fougère with an intricate balance between lavender, green notes, and herbs. A perfect, comforting fougère with everything in its right place had been achieved... ...But alas, Nobile was doomed from the start. By the time Drakkar Noir was the poster boy of 80's masculines, the aromatic fougère genre said "Fuck this, I'm tired of the same ol' same ol'..." and went in the direction of Green Irish Tweed, Cool Water, Eternity, and so on. Just like Bon Scott died just as AC/DC was reaching their apex of popularity, Gucci Nobile (and Patou Pour Homme Prive, respectively) marked the absolute perfection of the aromatic fougère genre, but died too soon in a sea of trendy fragrances going in totally different directions. Flash-forward nearly 20 years later, a little-known house by the name of Alexander da Costa creates a fragrance called "Nobile Royalty", which is extremely affordable and has people raving that it's a resurrection of Gucci Nobile. Well, I own a bottle of Nobile Royalty, and I can say that it's VERY CLOSE, but it has a sweet, tar-like note reminiscent of a Lush store that differentiates it from Nobile. The character is there, but he's not our old friend. Nobile stuck to that aromatic fougère character through and through, representing stern, reliable masculinity. Gucci Nobile is still out there, but it commands astronomical prices. I recommend every guy with an interest in fragrances (especially the aromatic fougère genre) should try Gucci Nobile, if only to understand what a great fragrance smells like. As a final note, people often talk about the best fragrances in each category: e.g., Shalimar as the best oriental, or maybe Joy as the best floral. Gucci Nobile is the greatest aromatic fougère ever made, hands down.

Add me to the list of those who mourn the loss of this gorgeous male scent. It is difficult for me to describe this fragrance without sounding somewhat cheesy, but I will risk it because at the time I first knew of this fragrance, I was still a young belle of 22, so it is forgivable. This fragrance gave to mind of belonging to a determined man who had class, assertiveness, yet underneath his cool exterior, there was an ongoing pulse of raw sexual energy. I dated such a man who was older than me but had the characteristics that matched the fragrance itself. I realized even more that fragrances do have a way of becoming "signature" and when on the right person, it is like adding that missing piece of a puzzle which brings together ALL the elements that make an already memorable person even more so. I do wish that Gucci would relaunch this and keep it on the shelves. It is one of their masterpieces that deserves recognition and shouldn't have been allowed to fade in the first place. Perfect fougere with perfect sillage and generous longevity. I'm glad enough that I got to experience it. It was sexy and classy.

I bought it on an auction, still sealed, with a leaflet inside. It's a classic fragrance, smells like previous era of strongly defined masculinity in fragrances and fashion. It's fresh, spicy and woody. I can imagine an elegant man in a navy-blue striped suit and white hat walking through Milan or Florence in the late 80'. He'd have an espresso seating in a shadow of a Renaissance column outside of a small cafeteria made of brass and glass reading Il Nazionale. A bunch of red roses on a small round table await someone. He'd smell of Gucci Nobile. The bottle brings nostalgic memories of an old commercials on tv, aesthetically just matches a concept of perfume bottles from pre 90' era (Pacco Rabane, Kouros YSL etc). Buy it if you'll have a chance! Gucci is currently failing to produce scents for man with charisma, they don't follow house's legacy so Nobile is priceless if you care for quality and ethos of Gucci. 8 out of 10! #MASTERPIECE

My brother was lucky enough to find this gem at a store one hour away from my hometown; it comes in a set box with a stick deodorant,...and it was only $20!!! Gucci Nobile opens very spicy and citrusy, but as the fragrance progresses, you can feel the moist and earthy note of the oakmoss, which is very well blended with woods, patchouli, and vetiver. This can be easily worn during the daytime, at work. It's elegant without being boring or stiff; it reminds me of Puig Quorum, but far more versatile and modern. I also think this awesome fragrance is timeless and way, way underrated! Longevity is good (+7 hours), and sillage is average. As many reviewers have incessantly stated, it's really sad that incredible perfumes such as Gucci Nobile (among others) don't get the credit they deserve and therefore go discontinued, whereas a lot of outrageous fragrances become a ubiquitous mainstream success...why? Go figure.

My first impression of Nobile was that it was a subtler, more refined version of Drakkar Noir. Over time, I've come to appreciate other things about it too --- in the drydown there's a hint of smokiness to the leafy green notes, and the woods appear and disappear as if dancing with the spices. The top notes leave a lingering freshness even after they fade, and the overall effect reminds me of a walk in the woods just after an autumn rain. There is also a distince resemblance to Jaclyn Smith's California for Men, Caesar's Man and Geoffrey Beene's Bowling Green. And what is it with Gucci discontinuing their best fragrances, anyway?

I was able to finish my quest of hunting down the original Gucci Pour Homme (1976) and Gucci Nobile.. I finally got my hands on a tiny tiny bit of Gucci Nobile.. Here is my first impression of Nobile : Woah! Strong blast of citrus, lavender, and tons of rosemary and tarragon! It smells fresh, clean, and green but it does warm up and it does have a bit of a dirty side to it to.. There is a herbal aspect of Nobile that is a bit shocking to my senses, it may take time for me to get use to this.. This is great quality but very old school masculine and very mature! I may be able to get use to this but I doubt those around me will..

I know what I am going to ask is an impossible question, do not shut me but, as a desperate lover of Gucci Nobile whose last bottle is going to finish very soon, I am looking for fragrances that are as close as possible to Nobile. I have tried some (e.g.: Gucci by Gucci), but this way it would take ages, I am not an expert in parfumes or fragances so I do not know how to do a backword search starting from the Nobile's notes I can read on top of this page and find other fragrances that contain some of them. In essence, I am trying to circle down to maybe 10 candidate to start buying and trying them Any suggestion ? Thanks

I once had a bottle of this. It smelled pretty good (7/10 for scent), it lasted very well and had great projection (for some reason the ones that smell decent or less often do). The main problem I had with the scent is it had so many other fragrances that it smelled very similar to--Caesars Man is almost an exact copy minus a lime note and Cartier Pasha for men isn't far behind and Drakkar reminds me of it.

Too funny i had this scent back in the early nineties and i bought i cheap (100 ml for a very low price)if i hsee the prices n ow asked for it (300 $) I liked it but i cannot remember the whole pallete of ingredients i did liked it but it was a very mature cologne. a sophisticated upperclas scent, i need to resmell it someday in a way...

One of my favorite spring Gucci scents--I still have some in the small 2 oz bottle my aunt gave me when I was a little boy. If you ever want something that smells very close to this but don't want to pay $400 on Ebay, but a $12 bottle of Caeser's World or an even closer but more expensive alternative is Cartier Pasha.

Masculine, barbershoppy, green-citrusy-woody, understated performance (i.e., no best mode), and shockingly overpriced. Please score yourself a mini bottle to sample and then thank your lucky stars you didn't fork over $300+ for a full-sized bottle. Its good, just not that kind of great.

I was lucky when I found a 2oz bottle on Etsy for $100. They typically sell for double or triple that amount. The 4oz bottles can go for $500+. I would never come close to paying that much for Nobile or any fragrance. Nobile is a clean, mildly spicy, herbal, fougere.

Oh by the way if anybody happens to have an empty one ounce bottle with a cap or just the cap let me know.. I have a one ounce bottle with a tiny bit left but no cap and I have OCD about those things..

Gucci Nobile is a classic for a reason! It's got that fresh, herbal opening with the lavender and rosemary, but then it settles into this warm, woody scent. It lasts all day too, which is great.

This is a totally average 1980s office wear masculine. Massively over hyped by those looking to fit in or sell something. The quality is quite nice, but even today's Chanel men's fragrances and the reformulated CREEDs blow this out of the water. If Tiffany For Men (from the same era) is a 9.5, this is a 7.

Gucci Nobile is a scent I was really looking forward to trying. It's one of the most revered fragrances ever. Supposedly one of the best fougere's ever created. How does it stack up in real life? Well. Nobile is great. I cannot fault it at all, really. The opening is a nice classic, slightly dusty citrus. It's a classic bergamot-lavender opening. Not much to say here. The middle stage is where it gets quite a bit more interesting. There are loads of floral notes here. I certainly get buttery rose, a hint of dirty carnation and a dash of geranium. The interesting thing is that for an 80s scent, the florals are very polite and lightly blended. The base is the business. Creamy sandalwood, infused with damp oakmoss and a touch of rosemary. It's greatly made and a solid finish to a very solid scent. Nobile really is a very great scent. It's certainly a very understated scent, a real differentiator during the 1980s. But, Nobile has one massive fault. It's discontinued and the prices are through the roof. This would be ok, if we were talking a Patou Pour Homme level of quality, but even the overblown prices are too much. At heart, whilst Nobile is great, it's a bog standard 70s style aromatic fougere. Azzaro Pour Homme went there first, and in all honesty - APH is much better made and executed than this. However, it's closest peer to me would be Tsar. They were both released in 1988. Whilst Nobile is - well - noble in its presence, Tsar is much more vibrant. It's a more complex scent, it takes a similar theme and adds much more to it with a forrest-y feel and a, in my opinion, far better blend. Yes, sacriledge I know. But we also have to be real. Nobile is certainly great, and if you love it - go and buy it. But I will not just recommend it for the sake of it. If it was me, I'd buy a bottle of Tsar and Azzaro Pour Homme, enjoy two of the greatest fougeres ever made, and quietly forget Nobile. Longevity is good - 7-8 hours. Rating: 7.5/10
