Gucci Rush

I was sure I was not going to like this. Reading the very divisive reviews, along with comments mentioning “hairspray” “neon” “milk” “plastic” “fruitchouli”. My thoughts without smelling were like “what the f***?” But now that I have smelled it, yes. I get all of those comments. And for some this could be a nightmare to smell. But this is going to very quickly become a love, I can tell. I was born 1992 so although I didn’t wear fragrances in the 90s, I was surrounded by them. I definitely recognize this scent profile, just like I did when I smelled a vintage bottle (haven’t smelled a current formulation) of Eden by Cacharel. And although these actually do have some similarities, I couldn’t bear Eden for more than an experiment. I wore it maybe 3 times before it found a new home. But this, I sprayed a few hours ago, and I want to spray it again! Addictive! I haven’t looked at the batch code for mine yet. And I did just receive it in the mail from the grey market a few hours ago, so I’m not judging its performance just yet. It doesn’t seem as strong as I was imagining from the comments, but I still am getting lovely whiffs so perhaps to people around me this would be stronger. This is my first Gucci love, yeah I’m just gonna say I love it. I’ve only tried modern Gucci fragrances, besides the men’s version of Envy (reminds me too much of old school masculines - which I don’t like), and they all fell flat and generic to me. *One day I’ll find a way to try others released during Tom Ford’s reign.* This does not feel generic. It feels truly unique. And as a gay man, I now see why other gay men have loved wearing this. Aside from the substance reference lol. And fragrance knows no gender to me, you like what you like. Life is too short to try and live by others expectations. I also love the bottle. I’ve read through comments and many find it ugly. I find it charming. It reminds me of the red plastic boombox I had. Along with all the plastic I remember from being a kid. And I think it has a nice almost “retro mod/futuristic” look, if that makes sense. Btw, this gives me some kinda vibe that is similar to I think Chance by Chanel. Perhaps Chance (albeit spicier IMO) is the well behaved side of one’s personality, and maybe Rush is everything after dark. 😉 Neon peach rings. Late nights at a club. Dancing. Hairspray. Blue cocktails. MDMA. Being in another man’s bedroom only lit up by the neon light on the wall across from his bed. I do like having this in my collection and I would like to take a break from it and see if I like it on a winter’s night or something. I don’t hate it by any means, I just feel like an imposter or something. Could be that this feels young and sexy and sexy is just something I’ve never been so maybe it’s just not a match. Will give it some more time to see.

(EdT from 2000) I had a roommate back in college who was very slovenly. Their approach to cleaning was to just wait until the filth piled up so much that they could quite exactly trip over it, and it wasn’t until then that they would put in an effort to clean things up - often resulting in a very large, time consuming effort at that. I remember one time they left a bowl of very fruity cereal in milk on the kitchen counter. Curious to see how long it would take them to dispose of it rather than me following-up behind them as I so often did, I left it there as well. The milk went rancid, and I couldn’t take it sitting there anymore so out to the dumpster of our apartment complex it went. The smell was bizarre and off-putting to say the least: sweet from the sugars, strong candied berry notes from the flavored cereal and the decomposing dried fruit, and very sour from the spoiled milk. Deja vu. There is a spectrum of “trashiness” when it comes to perfume, fashion, or really any type of art form - the degree of vulgarity, lasciviousness, gaudy opulence, and/or gluttony. A line exists in the middle of the spectrum. Right over one side of the line is actual trashiness, where being close to the line means being inappropriate but probably acceptably trashy. Right over the other side of the line is appropriate but flirting with trashiness. Tom Ford is no stranger to this line, and whilst being the creative director of Gucci, YSL, and later at the helm of his eponymous brand, he frequently steered the brands’ offerings just over the line into trashiness. When doing so he was arguably - rather inarguably in my opinion - at his stylistic best. Gucci Rush is a prime example of this, and, supposedly, Ford loved Almairac’s final submission for the perfume as soon as he smelled it. The amount of damascones in Rush is enormous. Sour green apples, vividly saturated raspberries and artificial strawberry, and sour plums create the backbone of this perfume that pairs in the opening with a sour lactonic quality - spoiled milk trying to evoke (or cover up) a fatty, fleshy, animalic and musky gardenia note. The shockingly neon fruit continue into the heart to adulterate a citrusy green jasmine, and a puerile and sweet jammy rose. Fruity and rosey lip gloss of a disgusting sheen and unnecessarily pungent odor. A bright red lolipop sticky with sugar and neon food dyes. Cheap rose air fresheners, hot from hanging in the sunlight from the rearview mirror of a car, or an awful aerosol spray in a bathroom. The theme continues with a candied vanilla, peppery and dank green patchouli, and a rancid, salty, swampy, sour green vetiver at the dry down. Gloriously trashy. Juvenile energy rank with immaturity. Embarrassing yet addictively hilarious. Don’t wear this to work. Don’t wear it to dinner. Don’t wear it to a date. Don’t wear it to a wedding or a funeral. Don’t wear it anywhere you want to make a positive impression. It’s brilliant.

When I properly wore it for the first time, I thought I was anosmic to it because it took me a few minutes to get accustomed to my new scent. I appreciate that it is very "adjustable" depending on the amount of sprays you use. Two sprays give me a creamy, white floral, peachy, beautiful scent that is still decidedly feminine. It does smell like expensive hairspray at first but it is more accurate to say that the hairspray smells like this. Some fragrances have a certain unpleasant smell at first but when you let them sit on your skin and keep sniffing, you realise they are not as one-dimensional as you have imagined. "Rush" is a prime example for such perfume. Three sprays give me a dusty, earthy, slightly dirty scent that is also a little spicy and creamy. I have no idea what most of the notes smell like on their own therefore I judge based on the description of the notes and my own sense of smell. I believe the "dirty" scent is the patchouli. The white flowers make it more palatable and less coarse while the coriander gives it a masculine edge. The peach and the rose are also there, adding juicy sweetness to the scent. The pyramid seems so bizarre at first but the notes compliment one another and work really well. It is an extremely interesting perfume. It is very original and unique yet very comfortable to wear. It is well-balanced yet most of the notes stand out. None of them overpower the rest but they are clearly distinguishable. It can be a feminine scent but it can also be pretty unisex. Since my skin has its own "scent", it gives this fragrances a dark twist. I own some men's colognes that are less masculine than this. It is quite versatile. I love everything about "Rush". The name, the package, the juice, the ad campaign. The entire team that worked on this product was really creative. They did a fabulous job. The bottle is surprisingly easy to use. It is compact and lightweight but does not feel cheap despite being made of plastic. I love the idea. Tip: if you hold the bottle in front of a source of strong light (e.g. flashlight), you can see the amount of liquid you have left. The inside of the bottle looks identical to the "Rush 2" flanker which comes in a clear bottle. One of my best blind buys! Long-lasting, stunning, different, high-quality. You only need 2-3 sprays on each arm and 3 sprays on your neck and it will easily last until you wash it off in the evening. You do NOT overspray this. It will become repulsive. It is potent. It does NOT smell like plastic to me. I really do not get that. Song: La Oreja de Van Gogh - La Niña Que Llora en Tus Fiestas

I've got a bottle from 2000, and a bottle from 2015. They are both amazing, but they are different ladies dressed in a similar red dress. One wears lovely synthetic pearls with fashionable vinyl pumps, and her favorite statement piece of jewelry she's never seen anyone else wear. She's confident & sexy, interesting, charming, & beautiful. The other wears a long strand of vintage pearls she inherited from her favorite aunt. She loops the pearls twice around her neck. There's a subtle grace, edge, and seduction in each step of her suede heels. She's enigmatic. Mystery and intrigue, with enough sparkle to make her feel magnetic. 2015 bottle is like looking at an impressionist painting from far away. It's beautiful and balanced. Sillage & longevity are standard for a modern fragrance, nothing impressive but not poor for modern. Opens plastic but that settles quickly, then you get wafts of soft patchouli, and beautiful and balanced white florals which add a layer of sophistication to the sweet cream base. 2000 bottle is having the entire room to view the painting. You can get some distance so you can see the clear feel and idea of the painting, but in the 2000 bottle there's no roped off area you aren't allowed in. You can go right up to the painting, closely examine the details, run your fingers over the layers of paint so you can feel each brush stroke. 2000 opens differently. There's a specific white floral note that's absent in later versions. Then there's a warm peppery spice absent in later versions as well, unmistakeable coriander. The patchouli is slightly more pronounced, but still balanced and not over powering. Longevity and Sillage is a completely different beast in the original version. Modern formulations can only be described as watered down, but there is also a clear difference in the way individual notes smell. (Likely due to perfume regulation changes that required brands to use alternative compounds to create these notes.) The heart of Rush is still there, and I still love the modern versions. If you loved this before, and you can only get your hands on a newer bottle, I still suggest you do it. It will still transport you back to a time when things were simpler, but somehow richer. ✨ My absolute favorite.

[975] I have wanted to try Gucci Rush for a long time. An avant-garde composition that is the epitome of the futuristic Y2K aesthetic, its opaque red rectangular bottle was cutting edge - much like the scent housed within. It is also the polar opposite of the minimal L'Eau d'Isseys/CK Ones that summed up the 1990s - again, perhaps looking to the future. A bold fruitchouli with a heady white floral heart, it is an extroverted, polarising scent, made for nightclubbing. I found a tester (modern bottle obviously) in a pharmacy and I was surprised by how familiar it is - it resembles Cacharel Eden and perhaps others (but this is much better than Eden). Rush opens with sweet, juicy peach followed closely by the creamy white floral accord that defines this scent. There is a camphorous green undertone to the opening that amps up the volume while remaining cohesive. Some peppery spice follows. As it develops, jammy rose rears its head, joining the lush, sweet white florals. The modern chypre quality is unmistakable as the cloud of patchouli emerges, earthy and slightly muddy, making for a nice counterpoint to the bold floral sweetness. The vetiver complements it nicely, woody and dry. The peach persists, keeping things fruity throughout. A liberal dose of vanilla adds sweetness to the base, alongside a slightly salty amber accord. It is smooth and creamy, complementing and prolonging the florals. The earthiness remains, underscoring the second act of Rush. It fades to a sweet vanilla skin scent punctuated by earthy patchouli until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. It is a feminine autumn/winter evening scent. Intoxicating, lush and bold, Rush is also very well-composed and avoids being "kitchen-sink-y", which was what I expected. An edgy, brilliant time capsule that is still wearable today, Rush is to be worn with confidence. 4.5/5.

1999 Ethereal tragically cool peach chypre with white-florals by Michel Almairac... Overall it's a gorgeous, ethereal, airy, cool peach chypre, that sucks you in with the intoxicating drydown. Being sucked in is perhaps the only thing this scent bears in common with the film of the same name, Rush (1991). The mood here is more in keeping with the tragic coolness of Baz Luhrmann's cinematic retelling of Romeo + Juliet (1996). I could imagine Juliet (played by Claire Danes) wearing this scent the night she first meets Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio), seeing him for the first time as a stranger through an aquarium. In this way, Gucci Rush is like a re-interpretation of the classic chypre genre, with a tragically cool flair popular to the late 90s. The opening before the spray dries has some fresh, near-green & fruity tones. Once the spray dries and the sillage starts to open up, I get ethereal, cool, airy white-florals and soft peach, with an earthy patchouli underneath. In the drydown I get an earthy patchouli with dark, leathery, near-licorice-y tones. The longevity is there, but the sillage takes some time to wake-up. Batch code: 7129 (2017-05-09), but dark storage after first sprays helps with this. Overall, this scent does evoke the feeling of an ethereal, cool, lightheaded rush, and it's become a love for me. Enjoy! Update 02/06/25: Sprayed this on this morning. First thing I notice is how leathery/suede-y the patchouli is. I'm surprised that leather or suede isn't a listed note. I find this more leathery with hints of licorice than the suede in Rihanna's Rogue, but there is a passing similarity. At first I don't notice any top notes, peach or gardenia (in keeping with my original test). But then they start to wake up and it turns the underlying leathery patchouli much more creamy with a hint of sweetness on a direct sniff. Just gorgeous.

My addiction. How have I skipped writing you a review?! It's a scent you don't forget and you can't compare it to anything else. Even after radically simplifying my shelf, I am so horrified at the thought of this being discontinued, I have a stacked supply. Even after all this time and reformulations, this is a perfume you can smell from the box even before you spray it for the first time. And boy, does it last. Notes: think the top note as a smashed peach by vinyl high heel boots. The heart is a strong, in-your-face jasmine, touch of rose, all blended in milky vanilla. Then all of this carried by dark, daddy patchouli. It's my ultimate "I'm going out and I'm looking for trouble" perfume. I wear it not when I want attention, but when I know I'm getting it. I sniff it when I need a mood lift. It's addictive. Powerful. Sexy. It's obvious and in your face and it doesn't fucking care. It's such a mood. I am so happy this is slept on by the younger generation (for now), as I know I won't smell myself on others among the Good Girls and Black Opiums. I've had men follow my scent trail at parties just to tell me it's the sexiest thing they've smelled. I feel like with the right marketing it could make a bomb comeback, because this is both nostalgic and futuristic in the same time. It cannot go out of fashion. It makes people go crazy, and I am proudly one of them. It will always have place on a rave in Berlin, on a sunrise walk at 6am in Rome, on a dress on the floor in a room you've never been in. God, how I fucking love you Rush. Please stay, always.

I love Gucci Rush! It's one of my favourites at the moment -- so unique and intriguing, yet very easy to like. I never smelt it when it first came out, but it doesn't smell like it came out in the late '90s; it was definitely ahead of its time. For a fragrance featuring peach and white florals, it is very ballsy -- the patchouli and coriander give it a bite. I do get the "electronics" smell that some have described -- like wires that have been fried from a power surge or a remote control car that's been used constantly for a couple of hours, but in the most appealing way possible. It's not delicate or pretty; it's bold and edgy. It reminds me of a woman who is feminine and classy but has masculine energy -- maybe skateboards on the weekends and has hidden tough tattoos. I don't understand why it has such low ratings for spring and summer wear -- it's a warm fragrance, but it's not too sweet or suffocating. I've been wearing it in pretty warm weather and to the gym and have loved it. This could be a signature scent. Performance is fantastic (I am a bit of an over sprayer -- 8 sprays mainly on clothes); after 8 hours, it wafts up to my nose if I start walking around. It lasts all day on clothes and 5ish hours on skin.

I just received this perfume about 2 days ago. I can say right off the bat, I am loving this one!!! This was a complete blind buy success , after watching some YouTube videos on how unique it was w its plastic fruit scent . I just had to try it out. I sprayed it on my arm before my workout . I was hit with a strong plastic-peach scent a long with the gardenia and then i fought a whiff of something Spicy. On my skin, this spice kinda smelled like spicy chilli peppers which I thought was pretty cool since I love hot peppers lol but it was the coriander along with the patchouli which I think went well w the vanilla after the dry down . After a few hours even after set my workout, I still smelled the plastic peach with vanilla, vetiver and patchouli . I love this scent , and will probably use it as a night time, going out fragrance . It’s definitely an attention getter , and the projection is prettty strong and makes its presence known. I don’t think I can wear this during the hot weather here in FL ( which is year round!) and will have to mainly use it when it’s gets below 60 or nighttime. Either way i will definitely have to repurchase this unique scent . Love it

Gucci Rush original formula (Scannon) - released in 1999, created under Tom Ford during his time at Gucci. It has been subject to several reformulations since, but I do not own any reformulated version to compare with. This one is not for the faint-hearted. It's bold, it's fun, plasticky smelling, manufactured, it's an out and out synthetic fragrance. It doesn't even try to be anything else. Love it or hate it, the fragrance container and the juice are well matched, both being synthetic plastic. The original fragrance contains decalactone and jasmelactone (synthetics used for peach and jasmine), along with aldehydes, to help re-create the fruits and florals and these give it that plastic smell. To me, Rush is a shining example of this being done the right way. It modernised Chypre and made this one of the best fragrances created within its decade. Rush is joyously trashy and fearlessly unapologetic. Its signature and distinctive character make it unique and unforgettable. Projection and sillage are nothing less than incredible. A fragrance this addictive should come with a warning sign.

I hoarded my beloved circa 2000 Scanlon bottle of Gucci Rush, because I thought it was discontinued. (It was for awhile, right?). Then I saw a post where people got it at Marshall’s! I struck out, buy it was also available at Gucci $135 so I figured it was back. I read that some people thought it was weak and had changed, but other people commented that it was the same. I had the unique advantage of still having the original so I thought I would get the newer one by Coty and compare. I got it on eBay for around 50 bucks from a seller who had sold hundreds of bottles with great reviews. I got a decant from The Perfumed Court to compare all. The Perfumed Court Decant smelled exactly as my eBay Rush smelled. They smell exactly the same to me from first spray to dry-down. Still milky, sweet peachy, gardenia, barbie head plastic. That being said, I never could smell the patchouli in the first release (I don't like patchouli, generally) and people say that is the note that is missing in the new release. It is still beast mode still-lasted 12 hours and still the next day on one cuff.

Vintage version starts off more blatantly fruity, along with more pungent coriander and some seriously overripe aldehydes (I'm testing a 24-year-old formula, mind - newer batches are brighter on the open). But in less than five minutes, Gucci Rush is down to business as usual. Hairspray, peach candy, plastic doll head, Grandma's dusting powder, Scotch tape, Impossible GardeniaTM, brown sugar musk (think Narciso's white cube), vetiver, patchouli, [ insert oakmoss synthetic here ], a whiff of your older brother's cologne from down the hall, and milk. These flabbergasting accords somehow transmogrify into a humming, neon-like aura that's warm, sensual, sophisticated, nostalgic...and maddeningly, bafflingly addictive. Don't worry about reformulation - the current Rush is just as weird and wonderful (and strong!) as it's ever been, and after years of fearing its discontinuation, I think I can confidently say it's here to stay for a while. Get comfortable and enjoy it. Or don't; you won't be alone. Either way, it's like no other perfume you'll ever smell.

Rush is a real mind-f#%$ of a perfume. I think Turin or Sanchez mentions in their review that it took Tom Ford all of five seconds to give the formula the go-sign and who could blame him? This stuff smells phenomenal. I never fully appreciated Rush until I smelled it on a friend of a friend one night. I barely spoke to her but woke up the next morning with a massive hangover and the remnants of an otherworldly neon smell lingering in my nose. I was ecstatic of course. Why does modern office politics underestimate the simple joy fragrance can bring to everyday life, not just on ourselves but on others too? I love seeing well-dressed strangers on the street and I'm similarly grateful when they care enough to leave a scent-trail behind. If Rush was released today it would most likely include a fantasy plastic note because the pyramid does nothing to convey how completely weird and holographic this smells. The only notes I can identify are peach, patchouli, coriander and some vague woods - beyond that it's a mystery, it's like a fourth dimension.

gucci rush used to be my moms signature for a good 2 years when i was a kid, before she switched to something else. out of all her signatures throughout the years, i remember liking this one the most, so i gifted her a bottle recently that she insisted on sharing with me. if angel is the king of trashy y2k club fragrances, rush is the queen. (dont be put off by my word choices: i adore angel, as well as this fragrance). at its core its a pretty linear, fruity-floral scent, but the patchouli in the base is on full blast, which makes it unique in my opinion. the peach is what gives it that slightly plastic-y quality, but its not off putting at all. well-rounded and fun. wearing rush is, above all, a genuine mood lifter due to its playful nature. if you are a certified patchouli hater, i would still advise you to steer clear. but for anyone who wants the perfume equivalent of recession era club pop a la black eyed peas and pitbull, this is a great pick.

one day, around seven years after she had moved away, i finally gathered the courage to snoop around my oldest sister’s room and found this abandoned in one of the bottom drawers. i assumed it was an empty bottle that she was too lazy to throw away and forgot there... i was wrong. the atomizer on mine is broken and it squirts in a single line which is a nightmare to use, but this thing smells like if an angel descended from heaven but was really pissed and b*tch-slapped you. it instantly changed my life. very strong and confident floral scent that doesn’t smell like a drugstore deodorant or squished grass. an offensive white floral in the best way - i love white florals and it is an honor to be offended by them lol. no dry down or whatever, the white flower remains aggressive for the whole day. maybe gets slightly warmer and milder after the 5 hour mark, but just maybe. i love this thing so much. im glad my sister hated it!

My first fragrance love story. I was 17, babysitting for my boss. He owned a popular seaside restaurant and was married to a very chic Russian woman who had closets full of Manolos and cabinets full of La Mer and various perfumes. Of course I would slather La Mer on my face and test her various perfumes after I had put the baby to sleep. One night I spritzed Gucci Rush and couldn't stop sniffing my wrist in bliss. With the babysitting money I went out the very next day and purchased my first expensive bottle of perfume. I would describe it as a sexy, spicy, fruit-chouli. Some say it smells plastic-y-- I suppose in the same way electronic music sounds plastic-y. It's a glowstick rave on the shores of Ibiza; the DJ is playing minimal house while you sip on your peach bellini and dance into the morning sun. A 90's masterpiece that I will love forever.

For a 2001 bottle of this juice: I remember applying this at Sephora in high school (literally two sprays), walking into a coffee shop, and seeing a girl from my school working the register. She immediately says “ I CAN SMELL YOU FROM HERE” in the weirdest way possible. I didn't realize how nuclear this is because one spray is enough to give me anosmia. The “new” formulation is like a stripped down Mitsouko with some Saran Wrap, but the old is a detonation of peach, plastic, earthy green, and insane sweetness. This rocks my socks off I have to say. It is, despite its sweetness, quite masculine due to the prominent Vetiver and patchouli. It’s a circus act with the balance of fruity plastic sweetness almost overtaking the earthy spicy counter-notes. Such a cool fragrance and VERY distinctive. You have to have a personality to pull this off.

Because I don't care for the haters, I'm skipping reading any reviews and writing my own free will, ha. Gucci Rush is eternal, and not just because it's so strong. Since it debuted I've probably gone through four bottles and today I bought my fifth after a longer than 15 year hiatus while exploring true vintages, indies and niches. The thing I also dig about Rush is it's still unique after 25 years, and that's especially true now. Rush is not for the faint-hearted. It's a powerhouse, it's sweet, and definitely a gourmand fruitchouli, although it's not completely wrongly described as a Chypre Fruity. To my nose, it's quite sexy. While wearing it, I am transported back to simpler times and places, a smaller physique, heh, and getting into new genres of music. It's watching Charmed. It's being young and carefree. I love it. <3

I remember this being a bright vibrant fruity y2k perfume that high school and college me always coveted when friends had it. But memories of scents are often unreliable... Finally got my hands on a bottle today in 2024 and idk if this wasn’t well stored/cared for but it’s so light and weak and has such poor performance :( I’m so bummed. Especially seeing that other people consider this a winter/fall fragrance I’m really disappointed in my bottle. (Though this is one of the very few bottles where I am pleased to have it just for the bottle.) But alas the search continues. UPDATE: the bottle I got above (from Mercari) DID indeed have something wrong with it. Eventually found a bottle at TJMaxx and it was EXACTLY as I had remembered. So good and fruity and beautiful.

I found this online for a great price so ordered a bottle, I couldn't remember what this smelled like and I don't see much people talk about it now. First spray I thought "oh that's just hairspray scent" but sprayed on skin it definetly gives plastic then as it dries down comes the sweetness and coriander. This is for a woman who wants to be sexy and stand out, does what she wants! I don't know if its because of my age but I think this is rather mature, where as my mum (who would have been teen at the peak of popularity) says it smells like cheap clubbing. Its synthetic smelling in the best way possible and addictive! I need to give it more time but this could easily become one of my favourites, so unique and theres nothing else to compare it to

Cult creation. The initial phase reminds me of red currant mixed with plastic. The effect however is very sexy, modern and appealing. Perfect clubbing scent. Girly but sensual. The flowers and fruits are slightly powdery and vinyl-like. For a latex-wearing sex bomb. Universal weather-wise strikes me as an evening scent but can be worn also during a day. A thorough blend creating a new quality out of the parts. Taking it apart it smells of freesia with coriander and a bit of gardenia creaminess. Peach, rose and vanilla are also tangible. Artfully blended. It should never get out of production it is too good. I like the way it gently projects from the skin for many hours. It always makes me think of red fruits - currants and cranberries.

Blind bought this because I found it for cheap and people's descriptions of it smelling like plastic piqued my interest. I figured I'd dislike it (I'm generally not into patchouli) but that it'd be neat to experience since it's such a well known fragrance. Turns out I actually love it??? I'm shocked but honestly kind of obsessed. I can see why people describe it as plastic-y, since the patchouli reads kind of "squeaky" for lack of a better term. To me, it smells like a peach scented balloon, or a scented rubber eraser. Sweet and tart, kind of airy, with an undertone of latex. It's weird in the best way. I'm already contemplating buying a back up bottle because I could easily see this becoming my signature fragrance.

My alllllll time FAVORITE. I swear there's nothing like it. This paired with Sanctuary's Lily & Rose Body Lotion... there's not a day I don't get complimented, this may be tmi but at my old job they never had AC on so it was sweat town central... & summer was crazy, when I tell you I would be oozing heat off my body & paranoid I wasn't fresh, I would have half the damn staff sniffing my neck & arms complimenting me whole time I'm about to overheat & pass out... idk how it does it but it blends perfectly with my skin chemistry & smells ever better when my skin gets hot or I sweat... & for that alone I have to worship Gucci Rush, I've never known anything to work & project the way it does 😂

Despite being a 'tester' addict, I never seem to find anything amongst newer fragrances that attract me. Even when you do find one - viz Angel...they reformulate the fragrance so that it smells nothing like your original purchase. I recall wearing Rush in the 80s and 90s, remembering that I liked it. To repurchase nowadays certainly doesn't require a three figure sum so I did buy a 'cassette' and so glad I did. The patchouli seems to be pronounced on me (I have oily skin?) and it's a little sweeter than I'd like but sooo long lasting. Nothing annoys me more than buying an expensive fragrance that is 'gone' in an hour! So happy with my rediscovery so have bought three more.

My mum wore it since early 2000's, then I took over. Synthetic or not - it works! Elegant, different, mature. Seductive. I saw the ad for this perfume and I got a totally different vibe. Instead of some sweaty, futuristic club ambiance I'm thinking red or maroon cashmere elegant, long sleeved top with black tights, black stilettos, with an indoor fireplace during winter. Generally good to wear all year round. Compliment giver. I also like the bottle - no need to put any cup off and on, easy to apply. Good job to whoever designed it and I hope other designers take the lead on this concept. I'm heartbroken this one has been discontinued. It's a sin!

Can anyone in here tell me what I need to look for if I want to try and find a vintage "cassette" of this one?? I was so beyond let down at the re-form version. One of the worst re-forms in perfumery honestly. They stripped this of it's character. If you never smelled the old one, you might think this one smells good. But if you could compare the two, I think you'd totally agree with me that they nearly smell like two different frags. I'm going to try and hunt down a vintage bottle. What do I need to look for? I know it's going to be pricey. Help! I can find no info online answering this question and I know someone in here knows Lol!

Late 90's early 2000s. This perfume was a present from my sister to my mum. I remember the whole room smelling once she sprayed them. I am a massive fan of patchuli therefore this might be why i like them. As a little girl, I've imagined the Gucci Rush being a signature smell of a successful New yorker in her late 20s, 30s. Sophisticated, always on her best behaviour and head turning. I've read that this scent has lost its lust and strength since. Also, someone compared it to Rihannas Rogue, I sort of agree. Although it is quite similar, I find the Rogue had a strong leather smell to it and Rush doesn't.

I adore this perfume so much. First, it was one of my mom`s signatures in 2000s, so it has sentimental value. Second, I looove the concept. It is a bowl of juicy plastic peaches. It smells so fake through and through, powdery and a bit bitter from gardenia and florals. Amazing blend, so beautiful, otherworldly but grounded. Whimsical urban fairy dust. I have new bottle from 2022, but I don’t feel much difference from the smell from my childhood. Performance is beastly, I literally use one-two sprays and all-day smell like a fussy plastic peach. I think might be best in warmer weather.

While on the hunt to collect vintage perfumes I wore years ago, thank god from digging around TJ Maxx found this for $60 versus $125 on the Gucci site. Don’t know who I thought I was wearing this bougie beast while probably only having $10 in my savings then. Nevertheless, I get it- once the alcohol plastic initial smell fades, you’re left with the gardenia, and peach. Sweet too with hints of jasmine and not heavy on the patchouli, it may be the reformulated version. Thinking this is what introduce me to like white florals. For a mere toilette, I’m not mad at it. 💗

I'm 46 and NEVER owned or even smelt this one. It's doing the rounds on tiktok and kept coming up ony fyp so I got a bottle and at good price with vouchers. I obviously can't compare to the OG but it's very sweet opening. It's a sweet fruity musk. I get a little patchouli where others say they don't. It'll be great for warmer sunnier days, I'm going it leave it for a while now though and see if she needs to mature abit. Glad I blind bought her ❤️ **Edit** Batch from Oct last year so she is very young and weak. I hope she matures ro everything people say she is.

It’s a classic clubbing scent for older millennials and younger gen x. It has mostly notes I hate (allegedly rose, gardenia, coriander & peach) but somehow I have always loved it since I first accidentally sprayed it in my drink because I didn’t understand the bottle. It’s an edt but it is very long lasting and great projection. It’s divisive but there’s really nothing else like it and I am not literate enough to describe it. I think it can go in every season at night. It’s sexy and daring & if you are even remotely into patchouli or Vetiver give it a try.

Gucci Rush smells like gardenia, vinyl records, patchouli, peach schnapps, men's aftershave and milk. The peach schnapps are spilled and slightly dried on the sticky floor like in the aftermath of a wild party. It reminds me of the manic energy around the turn of the millennium when people were wondering if the world was going to end or what the future was about to reveal. To me Gucci Rush is contradictory in that it is reminiscent of both trying too hard to have fun and melancholy. A deceptively joyful fragrance declaring brashly that the party is over.

That fruity patchouli sweet tart musk. Dead sexy. Very flirty. Head turner and head scratcher. What is that making it so intriguing? I thought they unlocked some pheromone science. I smelled this so much at beach and pool parties. Not to mention the clubs, especially for gentlemen. Nearly all the pretty girls who made good tips had it. This is that love potion driving boys crazy. If Curly showed up in a bikini wearing this; chaos would erupt as every man would foolishly try to outdo the others for her affections. "Pantene pro-V, cocaine, and pussy" - mooregrace wins, everyone go home!! this is literally that, and I adore her. it's what the sweat tour would smell like bottled up; spilled bottles of rush and Amsterdam gold in an enclosed space, cans of got2b and aquanet, an orgy in the bathrooms of whatever stadium Charli and Troye are at, a sloshed-around gin tonic, and a hankering for trouble. no notes. I love this perfume it’s addictive and unique and weird. It opens like intense peachy shampoo and banana peels, and dries down to smell like peaches and cookies. If it were a color it would be that translucent neon pink that looks orange from certain angles. Current formulation lasts well but doesn’t project much, unfortunately, I wish people could smell me through a wall when wearing this. It’s prettiest in cooler weather but I try to get away with wearing it all year. Not for everyone but the girls who get it, get it💅🏼

I just rebought this masterpiece of a perfume and I'm instantly transported to the nightclub I used to work at in the early 2000s! I was the manager, very young and veeeery naughty..we would party till the sun came up and then do it again the next night, rinse and repeat. This reminds me of those carefree days so much! I remember the entire club smelling like Rush, it was worn by so many drunken party girls! Now I'm a bit too old for all night clubbing, but this perfume will always remind me of all the fun we had!

I've already reviewed the amazing Rush, but I just tried Eden by Cacharel. They have a very similar vibe. Sweet, peachy, otherworldy florals, plastic doll head, sweet patchouli, and sileage for days. I'm not saying Eden is a dupe, not at all. But if you like Rush, I think you'll like Eden. Their iconic bottles would look great next to each other, too. Think of Rush as Jeannie from I Dream of jeannie - sweet, feminine, sexy, and over the top, and Eden is her green-hued sister that is similar but a lil skanky.

This is in my top 3 of favorite fragrances. Its sexy beyond belief but I also find it romantic and nostalgic. Its very polarizing, some people love it and some people hate it. I'm in the first camp. It is a bit synthetic but still smells like a brand name perfume. I think a few people.are offended by the extreme female sexual nature of Rush. Soft white florals, peaches and cream + coriander held together and supported on a bed of patchouli. It reminds me of a sexy American Italian lady for some reason.

Looking back at my super late teens, early twenties, this is one of the best scents I 've ever tried. Truly addictive sweet vanilla scent, that trigers some of the best memories of my life. My best friend wore it, so it will always remind me of her. Just to have a different scent, I got myself Rush 2 - and although another nice and innocent scent, its never gona be the same first love. I think, I just need a mini bottle to spray it once ir twice a year, just to swing in the memories.

A friend of mine wears this perfume and the first time I smelled it, it felt very familiar. It resembles the kind of perfume worn by those fancy girls we used to admire when we were little it also has a bit of a "young mom" vibe. I don't like peach and peachy notes at all but since the peach note here is very subtle it leaves behind a lovely fresh and gentle scent once it dries down. It’s a scent that evokes old memories and childhood days. it feels, above all, "familiar."

Absolutely not for an innocent person or a crowdpleaser but someone that is confident, sexy and familiar with nightlife because I am getting faux-leather dresses/pants/corsets, nightclubs, strong liquor cocktails, lipsticks and trails of chemicals. A little bit of an illegal fantasy. Everything late 90s and early 2000s hid in itself I can smell from this. Definitely not unpleasant but a very distinctive fragrance that is unlike anything I have smelled before.

Smells like fancy 00s nightclub restrooms - the attendant in the ladies' would always have this in her arsenal of pay-per-spray fragrances and I guess some ladies did avail (or the scent-profile was being replicated by other chemicals used on-site...) because the smell is sooo evocative. It's also just a great perfume, & although I'm still not a fan of the cinnamon note I actually find Rush's freesia-peach-patchouli-plastic very wearable now.

Smells like Coco Mademoiselle's trashy, but loveable sister. My Rush is from the early 2000's. I love it, but don't wear it out of the house because it is very permeating and a little raunchy. On me I get that sweet plastic doll scent, peaches, strawberry yogurt, and something else unidentifiable, maybe that's the sex/raunchy part. Definitely not patchouli, as I really don't like that scent. This lasts for days on clothing a solid 12 on skin.

first time I smelled this was at a friends' house on mushrooms in high school over 7 years ago. Hasn't left my mind since. I bought two bottles of this stuff. It's awful in a really delightful way. Yes, drugs, illegal fantasy, neon scent. all that resonated with me. The peach note is literally sickening to my stomach but I can't stop wearing it. I'm addicted. This is a scent for the girls that love juicy couture and mcbling aesthetics.

I just bought a new-ish bottle that's from 2023. The glorious floral and fruity notes are still present, along with that slightly synthetic note, but I'm not getting the patchouli I remember. I'll let it sit for a while and come back to it in warmer weather. I will say I'm glad to have it in my collection, just for the memories. You can find newer bottles on ebay for around $50, but the vintage bottles on ebay are close to $200.

An oldy but goody! This perfume is my absolute favorite night time and cold weather scent. I’ve been wearing it since I was a teenager and it evokes so many good memories. It’s probably the sexiest perfume I have ever smelled. The best way to describe it would be a sultry fruitchouli! It has decent silage without taking over an entire room and lasts 8-10 hours. I see myself continuing to buy this for many more years to come.

This...is...legendary. There are certain perfumes that get you. They are intense, and real, and just special. This is one of those scents. It is truly unique and special. I don't know if they've messed with the formula or not, but for an EDT this is a BEAST. I have a huge collection, and this is the only one I have a backup of. I love it that much. This and og The One are two of the most magnificent peach scents ever.

I can't help but love this perfume down to the red bottle. It's weird, a little plasticky, sweet, and kind of smells like a barbie doll's head (but in a good way). It's a synthetic dream of peaches, vanilla, and spice. I've never really smelled another perfume that even comes close to Rush. It's not for everyone but...I don't care. It's fun, a little trashy, and sweet.
