Intense Oud

The first time my senses met this scent, the year was 2017. From that very instant, I knew it was no common fragrance that stood before me. I purchased it without hesitation, and since that day, it hath remained my constant companion through the dying light of autumn and the long reign of winter. Ofttimes I lay it aside on purpose, tempted by other essences, yet when weeks have passed and I return to it once more, I feel the change within me at once. My bearing grows firmer, my shoulders set straighter, my gaze steadies. Confidence returns, not with noise, but with quiet command. It is as though the coming of autumn itself whispers to my flesh: now is the hour for Gucci Intense Oud. This bond is no fleeting fancy. From the first vial, it became my winter’s signature, my chosen mark. In the lands I dwell, it is little known, and thus its power strikes the senses unprepared. Those who encounter it for the first time often falter, caught between surprise and intrigue. For Gucci Intense Oud doth neither hide nor boast. Its presence is strong, its endurance resolute. It enters a space, claims it silently, and lingers long after footsteps fade. Such is its spell: it asks not to be remembered, for remembrance is inevitable. I recall one moment most clearly. A brief love I once held—three months only, yet not without weight—had ended. Long thereafter, fate placed us in the same café, she standing many souls ahead of me in line, unable to see my face. Yet suddenly she turned, her senses stirred, and came straightway to my side. “I caught thy scent,” she said. “For a breath, I thought thee had arrived.” Such is the reach of this fragrance: it crosses distance, bends time, and awakens memory unbidden. This perfume is not forged for all men. It seeks not to charm, nor to soften itself for easy favor. Its masculinity is not proclaimed with thunder, but worn as a shadowed crown. Like a cold glance that passeth thee by, yet draweth thine eye in its absence. The oud herein is no gentle adornment; it is dark, resinous, smoked as if by fire and night alike. As it opens upon the skin, it deepens, hardens, becomes one with the flesh. Its true strength lies not in first encounter, but in the trace it leaves behind. When I wear Gucci Intense Oud, I feel no part of the multitude. Rather, I stand as a lone figure within it—silent, unmoved, yet keenly felt. It is a scent that hastes not. It demands patience, rewards stillness, and reveals itself only to time. This is no fragrance for fleeting meetings. It is the scent of remembrance. Some perfumes are fair, some bold. But few bear character. To me, Gucci Intense Oud is no ornament—it is a state of being, a posture of the soul, a dark yet unwavering seal. When autumn descends and the air turns cold, it is not the season alone that shifts. I too withdraw inward, grow sharper, more restrained, more true. And in that shadowed quiet, I find myself most fully known.

This is a fantastically underrated smell. I don't have many designers in my collection but this is a worthy addition indeed. The opening is all frankincense and rose against the oud and it is intense, as you'd expect. It dries down into spices and the fruits of the pear and raspberry in a really nice way. It has a niche feel to it. I was really impressed with it as it has a longevity, balance and complexity that you don't see that often from the big designer houses. What I like here is that it manages to stay fresher than I think any other oud frag I can think of but still carries the depth and richness you expect from something called "Intense Oud". It results in a genuinely astonishingly wearable oud fragrance with real versatility that goes with pretty much anything. The amber, leather and patchouli in the base notes go almost minty against the fruit and it freshens it up delightfully. This is superb stuff from the wonderful Aurelien Guichard, who I am a big fan of. He has a really fine nose for these sorts of fragrances and has made something wonderful here. It is all about the balance: the fruit doesnt dominate but it sweetens, the musk, leather and saffron add richness and intrigue but do not muddy the delivery, whilst the floral notes complement but do not shout. It very well done indeed. It isnt breaking new ground or taking us anywhere we haven't already been, but in what it does, it delivers it with class, fine balance and considerable skill in a package that is probably more wearable than most of the more niche oud and fruit and leather frags on the market. For the layer heads out there I would suggest Oud For Greatness by Initio or Curium Extrait by Orto Parisi for more of a push on those darker woody notes. Others have suggested Tom Ford Oud Wood but I feel like this might be a little too sweet for my preferences. Performance is also very impressive for a non-niche frag and it is clear this ia very high quality potion. I get 8 hours from it and it doesnt truly die down close to the skin and does project even at 8 hours, although it isnt the oud that you get at that point but the fruit and the floral notes darkened just enough from the leather and ambergris to leap off your wrists and neck. As I say, this is not your usual run-of-the-mill designer frag and is clearly underrated to my nose. I really enjoyed this from beginning to end. At the beginning of my perfume adventure, I would visit stores and try many perfumes at once. I was introduced to this perfume one day when all the other perfumes disappeared from the shirt I was wearing and this monster stayed for TEN DAYS and collected all the compliments with its incredible spread. gucci intense oud, this sh*t really is an ANIMAL. You will smell a niche quality oud with the elements that will suit it best. A spicy and harsh opening gives way to real oud and incense on a light leather background, and whatever you spray it on suddenly becomes the sexiest thing in the world. I can say that I have really perverted feelings towards this perfume. I would like to move on to my general opinions about perfume: Fragrance quality: It's a total son of a b*tch, the boss in this perfume is oud and its companions that will go best with it will probably cause your perfume-loving friends like you to question their own collections. 9.5/10 Longevity: This monster stays on the skin for +12 hours and can last for WEEKS if you spray it on clothes. If you are a smoke addict idiot like me, know that you are insulting this perfume and you should quit immediately. 9.5/10 Sillage: yes, you are the center of a circle with a radius of three meters and you poison everyone around this area in a way that makes them fall in love with your scent. and yes, you are a radioactive monster. 9/10 Price: I admit it is more expensive compared to other designers. This is a perfume that is not suitable for blind buying and I personally would never recommend it. I think it definitely deserves its price, be sure that if its price is twice that of a designer, it is at least TEN times more in terms of all its other features. Try this perfume at least three times, and then create a clear interpretation in your mind by smelling its dry form many times. If this comment is positive, don't waste your time, buy it and become one of the sexiest men in the world. 8/10

Although this scores well on Fragrentica, I’d still call this underrated as it gets very little social media air time. It’s a very sophisticated scent. It combines the Western Oud style (complex woods, no animalic element) as used in PDM Haltane, Initio Oud for Greatness and TF Oud wood, with some spice, more so than than PDM Haltane, but without the leather/saffron punch in Oud for Greatness. It’s a western style oriental oud if that makes sense- the spice leans oriental, but the oud is so woody and western style that it’s a “western style oriental”. The easiest way to put it is if you want a spicy oud without smelling Middle Eastern, this is the Oud you want (as opposed to say Alexandria II or Halletti which are western fragerences, but smelling very Middle Eastern!). What this comes across as is a very sophisticated fragerance, far more so than TF Oud Wood or Thameen Carved Oud (but carved oud feels more “luxurious”). It’s more professionally appropriate in a corporate office than PDM Haltane as it’s not as sweet. It’s a dryer oud, with spice, that makes it a touch exotic, but still completely appropriate in an office or sharp, upmarket evening setting. This is the Oud James Bond would wear with his suits... if Tom Ford didn’t pay for the product placement! Probably my top 2 western ouds (other being Thameen Carved Oud). The difference is The Gucci Oud Intense is definitely better in cold weather (winter/autumn) and Thameen Carved Oud is to me a strong Spring Scent. This is just a superb fragerance and incredible value for money at discounters as it really is better than many Niche perfumes and comparable to any of them (and I have Haltane, Pegasus Exclusif, Layton Exclusif and Oud for Greatness).

This perfume can be described as polarizing. How do I know? because I have had this on my wish list for over a year. Each time I go in to make a new purchase, I test Gucci Intense Oud, alongside other fragrances (I always test on skin BTW) and I end up picking up another fragrance over this one. Not because it smells bad...not at all, it smells awesome, it's always been cold feet because of the slightly funky/animalic oud note. I realise I do not have the balls to pull this off, so I pick another perfume. Now, when I leave the store and going about my day, I get whiffs of Gucci Intense Oud and I always say to myself "This smells fucking awesome!!!" I get to the store again, test it, realise it smells fucking awesome, but the oud makes me chicken out again, and again. But, I couldnt get it outta my mind. So i eventually picked up a bottle. Gucci Intense Oud is an elegant, classy perfume that can be a challenging wear. Awesome scent profile and very decent performance. When I think of Gucci Intense Oud, I get the visual of a thoroughbred (horse) proving difficult to it's owner to ride it. You have to have an imposing personality to wear this as Gucci Intense Oud has a Imposing personality. Again, a beautiful perfume, not for everyday use, but for special occasions and formal events. Be mindful of the sprays and do take it for the 'test drive' before wearing it for a significant occasion or event. A 9/10 for me. I love It!!!

This one is definitely a bit divisive and an acquired smell to and extent as most oud based fragrances are but at the same time Gucci Intense Oud is quite smooth and not as crazy hard to wear as I thought it might be although I would definitely not wear it as a daily scent and more of a special occasion fragrance. It honestly does have somewhat of a niche but mass appealing scent as far as oud fragrances go but perhaps that is because of how smooth the oud is to my nose and the bright beautiful rose brightens up what is otherwise a very dark fragrance. It does have an elegance and richness to it but still a strong boldness to it. I feel like there is not too much in between with this one, you either really like and enjoy it or you very much dislike or hate it. I am on the very much like side of things myself. I would give it 8.75/10 only reason I wouldn't quite give it a 9 is because it's a scent if I smell too much I get a bit of a headache and it's not as everyday wearable as I would like but nonetheless amazing fragrance that I had wanted to smell for ages and when I did, bought it right away which is not regretted.

Banger! Elevated Banger! Managed to pick a bottle of this up for €75 and for that price it is okay value. But full retail RRP on this is listed as €186. I would not pay that. For €75 it is okay, to good value. Now scent etc. Smell: So GOOD! Oud not overpowering, kind of incensey raspberry, pear, with rose musk in the background, and hint of leathery woods for base. I really dont know how to describe it as you can pick them up but they are masterfully blended here that they just smell really good. Think I saw someone describe the smell of polished church benches with the incense burning, but way more elevated. Class is how I would describe it. POWER: Very Potent. People will smell you before they see you. You might not know it yourself. But ask those around you and I would not wear to work really. More of a special occasion or night our signature. Winter and Autumn and works best at night but you do you. Does not smell anything like Tom Ford Noir Extreme, or Prada Black but they are the only fragrances in my collection that match the vibe somewhat.

Gucci Intense Oud is a good release, a designer-priced (especially on the grey market) oud/incense offering with niche quality. Leather is listed in the mix but I don't get it, mainly just the olibanum and oud, with some woody notes as well, perhaps cedar or oak. Overall, there's not much to it, and its elegance is in that simplicity. If there IS leather, it's hardly all that animalic, but rather a smooth contributor to an otherwise smooth blend of incense and oud. The closest comparison I can make is to the more refined By Kilian Incense Oud, which is undoubtedly smoother yet substantially more expensive at retail at ($395 for 50ml) than Gucci Intense Oud's pricing on Notino of $90 for 90ml. While it's not all that daring or complex, I concede that it's unusual to find a fragrance so well put-together at designer pricing. Performance is very good overall, both in terms of projection and longevity. Not one I'd necessarily buy since I own By Kilian Incense Oud, but one I'd surely consider. 8 out of 10

An accessible oud fragrance that still carries Arabic depth, unlike many Western ouds. This one is the perfect balance. The 15–30 minute opening is much harsher than the beautiful, addictive dry down. Perfect fall/winter evening scent. Honestly, I’ve worn this during summer evenings as well, but I can understand why it may be strong for some people. I usually skip Gucci since the Guilty line smells too synthetic, so this one surprised me. It’s also not talked about a lot and not available in many of the stores I frequent. I found out about it on vacation when a waiter was wearing it. I asked what he was wearing, and he actually brought the bottle from his locker so I could snap a photo, since there was a language barrier. Thanks, guy! Awesome bottle too!

Same amber and oud found in Tom Ford Amber Absolut and TF Oud Wood. While similar, this has less balsamic/fig and not as much sillage which actually makes it alot more wearable than the discontinued Ford but not as extravagant but just as sophisticated. The pear and animalic sweetness add to its skin clinging longevity. Zero melon, zero aquatic, zero wood. The pear and orange blossom are very detectable but blend wiith the frankinsence and agarwood beautifully in the dry down. Whiffs of damask rose turkish delight, smokey patchouli and slight powdery saffron leather. Very mature masculine scent to my nose but gets sweeter up close. Wear this any place any time, but only because I love it. Better suited for fall/winter. Batch 3185, Made in Spain.

What does it smell like? To me, this smells like a luxury Arabian style spicy and sweet oud. Where would I wear it? I’d wear this for any occasion, it’s a very welcoming oud scent. How many sprays? I recommend around 4 sprays. Anything more would be overpowering. Best season? I’d say all season Safe blind buy? Yes very safe Final thoughts? This is a fragrance that Gucci should have kept in their private line, because it smells niche. Rating: 10/10 Would I buy it again? I’m really not the type that comments but rather reads comments, this time I prefer to write. So there’s this rule I choose to abide by which is: don’t comment until you get a compliment. Well I got a compliment with this bad boy tonight at a restaurant, sprayed it 9:00pm before leaving the house and at 11:13pm a waitress walked up to me and was like... “Hello sir, good evening. You seem to be the one that’s wearing a perfume because I’ve been smelling you when I walked in but didn’t know who it was until you stepped out” My response: Yes, it’s me And she goes: Is that Gucci intense ? I was like :0 , how did you know, do you sell perfumes? Her response: she has a friend that wears perfumes. My action: Straight tip!!!!

Absolutely gorgeous fragrance ! Blind buy after wanting Versace Oud Noir but I find it weak in performance, so I followed reviewers here and glad I did The fragrance is dark, but clear, if that makes sense. It's not heavy, or sweet. It's veeeeery elegant, woody, incensy, middle eastern in a way, but clean, the oud and the whole composition is clean and smooth. As for performance, I did 4 sprays in the morning, 5 hours later my brother could smell me at 1.5 meters. You think it doesn't project, yes, but it stays around you and creates a bubble that last almost all day. My batch is of 2024. With this and DHI, I'm set for the fall/winter 👌 10/10

This is my first review on Fragrantica and let me tell you this. We need to gatekeep this. Bought it few months ago. Found it too spicy to wear but wore it yesterday at our brotherhood event and compliments started rolling. Literally every single one of them told me how good i smell and wanted to know what i was wearing. And same thing today at work. Compliment magnet for real. Unique spicy and a high quality juice from gucci at around $100z what more do you want. A good oud fragrance for the beginners. Longevity and silage is also solid. 9/10 for me. Had to take one point off because might not be very mass apealing.

A cool weather alternative to ADO Rose Omeyyade. It gets skanky in the mid as patchouli and Ambergris tussle for attention... but they quickly smooth things out and melt into this brilliant game of Oud, incense, and soft rose. The saffron leather and musks are the perfect compliment and bring a sexy and carnal nature to this scent, with just the right amount of animalic saltiness to turn this to black gold on my skin. This wears incredibly well for me... long lasting but not bombastic, with a pleasantly bewitching scent trail. This is as masculine as I am willing to go... yet, I go willingly into this good night.

Gucci Intense Oud is sweet, smoky, leathery, and always changing. It never feels the same from start to finish. Longevity is incredible, especially on clothing. This scent is more versatile than I expected and I enjoy wearing it on most days, except during really hot weather. It is excellent and elegant. I tried every Gucci fragrance like their Guilty line but found them too standard. Then I tried Intense Oud and it felt like a discovery. I bought the full bottle right away because it felt like a totally different brand. Wow. Not blind buy safe. Everyone's nose / skin is different. Your experience may differ.

I love how this is an incensy-oudy scent with a peppery-fruity top, so elegantly concocted. GIO is truly one of a kind and even rivals the most hipster niche scents in terms of quality, which is why I consider it backup-worthy for fear of it being discontinued anytime soon. My appreciation for this scent has no bounds, and will forever hold a special place in my heart (Aurélien, you're a genius!). The batches made in Spain recently have better performance than those initially made there (since the earlier ones were made in France and hit like a truck, then got toned down), so don’t worry.

Incredible. Rich & dense yet easy to wear. Smooth and luxurious. Versatility is great imo, works all year around apart from summer. Brilliant performance, lasts longer and projects more than you’d ever need it to. The raspberry and pear in the opening give it a slight sweetness which makes it all the more addictive. Very mass appealing oud, and makes for a mass-appealing scent altogether. Then there’s the price. Easily one of the best value-for-money fragrances I’ve ever experienced. I picked up a 90ml (the only size) for only £95 which I think is an absolute bargain. This is a must try.

#16 on my Fragrance Review Journey Gucci Intense Oud is 10/10 for me. The oud is sophisticated and graceful. No barnyard smells and nothing inoffensive in any way. Everyone has a different nose however. I own Tom Ford Oud Wood and the similarity for me lies in the construction of the scent. Minimalist yet far reaching. The raspberry note is a wonderful touch. Loads of compliments. Last 6-8 hours on my skin. On your clothing till you take them off. Dress it up in formal wear, were it to work, or be casual. Regardless, you will smell sophisticated. This was an excellent purchase for me.

Was about to purchase Ombre Nomade because I was backwards at first - loved it so much then started to hate a little after multiple testers. I chose this instead because it has more depth and layers. Starts off strong, but not that animallic, barnyardy oud smell. It’s a safer western oud profile. Dries down to a powdery, fruity scent and the oud taking on a background role. It’s amazing how this scent evolves throughout the day while maintaining its elegant, expensive smelling scent during its whole lifetime. Eternal longevity especially on clothes and monster projection.
