Love At Your Darkest

This is a very spicy woody dry scent.. not heavy but more airy. I blind bought this because I love pepper and cedar and I really like this. It’s very simple not complex. It gives you that pencil shaving scent with a hint of spice. So nice for fall. I am a female and I love it but I would imagine this being more for men but it isn’t masculine at all just very woodsy. Very nice. I am very happy with my purchase.

Love At Your Darkest is a beautiful presentation of black pepper. Fresh, spicy pepper shine from the the first second, woodied up with a soft and musky cedar note, possibly the best cedar note I've smelled. The cedar's warmth counters the pepper's freshness beautifully. The olibanum is not overt and it exists to shape the woody spicy facets of the 2 former notes. Fresh spicy, pepper, musky, lightly-woody, clean, and slightly-soapy There is definitely more at play than these 3 notes. There is obvious soft, fuzzy, and soapy-clean white musk here. There is, also, a lightly green and slightly sweet green earthy note, very reminiscent of a minuscule amount of patchouli. Yet, it could be just the combination of cedar wood and olibanum. LAYD (lol) is a beautiful clean, fresh spicy scent with some warmth. Lovers of pepper and cedar wood would surely enjoy this. However, at its exorbitant price, LAYD is just another severely overpriced Gucci product, especially with its very poor sillage. The fragrance LAYD reminds of the most is Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir, but lighter. Also, there is faint resemblance to Issey Miyake Nuit d'Issey, Tom Ford Oud Wood (the cedar wood), and Davidoff Hot Water Night & Amouage Journey Man (the pepper). Unisex leans masculine, mild-to-cool weather wear. Very "Likeable" but the price is a repellent, and the performance doesn't help.

This smells really beautiful. It’s a whisper of a perfume. It’s so intimate and fleeting and expensive though that I cannot imagine purchasing more than the sample size I have. It’s unfortunate, if there was more than an hour longevity, I would consider it, because even though it’s intimate sillage, if it were too strong I don’t think I would appreciate it as much as I do. Anyway, it’s warm and spicy and resinous. It’s a very straightforward perfume, but smells expensive. As this is from the Alchemist’s Garden line, and I have several samples, I’m going to play around with layering this one and hope that I can create something beautiful, as also happens when you layer The Voice of the Snake and The Eyes of the Tiger. ETA: so I layered this with Tears for the Moon and damn, they are great together. I’m starting to really like the intimacy of these perfumes. They are special, for you only, or anyone special enough to get up close to you. These 2 together just made my skin smell so clean and beautiful. It still didn’t last long, but I really enjoyed it while it lasted.

The name and description suggest darkness, but it's a dry, astringently peppery, light wearing fragrance. Sheer, almost transparent black pepper opening, linear dry down and base of elemi and cedar. Not a chemical, "cologne" or "perfume" smell, but one of true and natural cedarwood. Simple and straight forward, but very high quality. An awesome minimalist woody fragrance or one that would be great for layering. This does not project, but it does last. It is an intimate skin scent for several hours.

Longevity and projection leave much to be desired but a very beautiful scent that is quite similar to TF Oud Wood as other reviewers have pointed out, but Gucci's rendition is a lot more light, airy, and delicate. The bottle is beautiful but would highly recommend purchasing this on a sale as it's not worth triple figures... A reasonably safe blind buy for woody lovers!

I can see the similarities to oud wood. This it’s a beautiful cedar wood, sparkling black pepper and incense fragrance. It’s very airy at the same time. The incense does have a deep oud-patchouli background. However the longevity on this scent is very very upsetting.

So so so sexy spicy woody airy very light smells so good on skin.

I tried this today at the boutique and I can explain this one pretty easily. Take Tom Ford Oud Wood and dilute it with 50% water and you have Love at your darkest. Alberto Morillas mailed this one in, and the executives at Gucci who gave the okay for this, did the same. I got about 30 minutes of performance before it completely disappeared from my skin. This is only my first impression so take it for what it's worth. It was a hot day so I only put on two sprays. Maybe I should have put on 7 or 8 sprays instead but regardless, this should be stronger and more present at this price point.

This is an ok scent to me and I don’t think it smells nothing like Tom Ford Oud wood like few think. Tittle spicy and great for cold weather. My favorite from the entire collection still remains the pink bottle

A nice light and fresh incense fragrance. Very much a designer fragrance as opposed to a niche fragrance. This isn’t a heavy-hitter, but more of a Jo Malone-style fragrance. It’s good but definitely not worth the price if you are on any budget whatsoever. I was surprised at first that Gucci would release an incense fragrance in a white bottle, but I get it now. Edit: The performance is some of the worst I have ever come across in my life, and that includes neroli fragrances. I am genuinely curious if Gucci messed up their batches and if they will have to pull this from the shelves. For the 15 minutes that I can barely smell it, it smells like the incense note from Bleu de Chanel isolated. I was thinking this would smell similar to Tom Ford Ebene Fume, but it really couldn’t be any further from it.

Store Test Short Review: Initially an intense sweet dark wood, kinda reminiscent of patchouli, but it quickly reveals itself to be a pleasant peppery cedar, and later dries down to a subtle smoky incense wood. A bit simple and weak for its status, but lovely nonetheless. Also a very lovely name.

I love this scent but the longevity leaves much to be desired. It does linger on the skin for a while but it's very close to the skin even when first sprayed. Bought it still anyway as i very much enjoy it!

When did three note fragrances become the trend? Sure, it can smell nice, but seems really lazy to me and lacks creativity.

This fragrance has been discontinued. Get your bottle while you can.
