Muschio Mineralis

This Gucci fragrance was a very unexpected discovery for me. It has a distinctly niche character and, in some ways, reminds me of the style often found in Amouage creations. The composition is a beautiful blend of frankincense, vanilla, and musk. The opening may be challenging for some people. I tested it on several friends who aren’t particularly interested in perfumes, and most of them weren’t impressed at first. However, once the fragrance settles and the vanilla becomes more prominent, its appeal grows considerably. There is something undeniably vintage about it, evoking the elegance of older perfume styles. Yet, to my nose, it feels incredibly sexy, bold, and unique rather than dated. This is definitely a fragrance better suited to autumn and winter, as it has a rich, warm character that shines in cooler weather. I was so impressed by its originality and charm that I ended up buying a bottle and fortunately, at a very good price.

Ok wow!! Where do I start First of all, I am shocked it is not more well-known, like the other Alchemist’s Garden perfumes. Some of them are way overhyped for how generic they are (to me). However this one... is so good. It is complex, it is deep without being overwhelming, it is sexy for night but also musky enough for day, and not too loud. It definitely has a “vintage scent” vibe. I smelled it in store because the fox on the bottle intrigued me.

Intense personality in a bottle... This fragrance is a personality! it resembles someone's essence! it's like the scent of Agent 006 "Alec Trevelyan", cheeky, masculine, & strong villain. It's musky with olibanum, cumin, and a touch of vanilla to softens the dark side just a little to trick you in order to fall in his web. This is elegance animalic, def not for everyone. Beautiful in an excellence way.

To my nose Muschio Mineralis delivers a similar cozy warmth as Grand Soir, but with less incense and more soft musk, making it feel like a more feminine, musky interpretation of that amber glow. Really enjoying this one.

First Impression. Living next to a Gucci boutique, I’ve had the chance to try nearly every Alchemist’s Garden release since the line debuted in 2019. So when I heard they were launching two musk fragrances, I was excited. This black musk leans darker and more masculine of the two, though I wouldn’t call it musk-dominant. With nitro musks banned and polycyclics heavily restricted, what we get here is a couple of macro musks "dirtied" up with caraway. Personally, I think they’d have been better off leaning on materials like ambrette, civetone, muscone or hyrax — all of which can still be harvested responsibly and legally — to give the composition more character of a true black musk. As it stands, this fragrance isn’t really musk-centered. Instead, it’s more of a caraway and incense affair, softened by a touch of vanilla and lifted by a faint mineral edge that fades in the drydown. If you’re into smoky incense and cumin-like spice, you may find this appealing. For me, it isn’t bad by any means, but it doesn’t feel purchase-worthy. I’ll keep testing and update accordingly. ----------------------------------------- Scent 70/100 ----------------------------------------- Update: I'm now getting musk on my subsequent wearings which has improved my opinion on this scent, but not enough to purchase.

This was a blind buy for me and it's not exactly what I expected based on the accords; it's much more vanilla-centric, and on my skin, fresh spicy is probably swapped with vanilla. Otherwise, it's true-to-name with a minerally (nearing plasticky) and lightly animalic musk opening that quickly gives way to a less unique vanilla musk. I appreciate the interesting and not-too-common opening (though I could see it being polarizing), but I would have liked the drydown to be more unique as well (versus the just-beyond-vanilla smell I get). It's a skin scent on me, but with great longevity - one spray on my wrist at night is still detectable in the morning. Muschio Mineralis also seems like it would fit a bit better with one of the white bottles vs. black. Not at all a favorite, but I'm not unhappy to have it in my collection. Would recommend trying on skin vs. paper if you have the option (I prefer this one on paper).
