Ode on Melancholy Perfume Oil

The only thing in this entire line that’s worth checking out. Please do, because it really is beautiful

Tried this at Gucci today, very good smell. I didn't get a ton of cypriol it was more cedar, sandalwood with powdery facet but not overly so. Would be perfect as a layering tool, but also great on its own. Really enjoyed it, but the retail price is outrageous 😬

Deeply and intensely woody. Not a fresh or light scent, no forest air. Evokes the feeling / experience of oud because of this heaviness. I find it a bit heady and headache inducing. Lasts and lasts, has very intense sillage. People comment on this one, so use it carefully.

I do not understand why this perfume would be named after a Keats poem yet feature none of the notes listed in the poem. First of all, what about the prominent image of the poem, the grape bursting on the palate? There's no grape in this perfume. What about the "globed peonies?" Not a single peony. What about the "salt-sand wave?" No salt or sand notes. The "droop-headed flowers?" We have yew-berries, nightshade, Wolf's-bane, and poisonous wine- all missing. And FFS, what about glutting thine sorrow on a morning rose?! We should at least be glutting our sorrows on a morning rose! Where's the dewey morning rose? This perfume is not appropriately named at all. It's like the boyfriend of an English major once heard the English major reading this poem but wasn't listening, but somehow the title stuck in his head and he just pulled it out of his ass and everyone thought it sounded great! Well, you should all apologize to Keats and to those of us who have read his poem and expected a lot more out of this perfume, at least a hint of a f'ing grape or a rose. If you're going to be a "Haute Couture" line, you need to do better than this, Gucci. This is simply woods and balsam. Not that don't enjoy woods. I'm a lover of woods. And if you're going to attempt to be literary in your titles you might have named it, "I Found Myself in a Dark Wood."

I have wanted this for ageees. Love the name love the old style enchanted bottle and just love the whole Alchemist Garden collection and the whole asthetic and vibe. It is just beautiful. Slightly spicy and earthy with a touch of sharpness on my skin. Not as intense as Nocturnal Whisper. Due to the high price this is reserved for wearing/dabbing on me when I'm in the mood to spoil myself. The perfume oils from this collection are designed for layering but I just love them too much on their own so no need to waste the precious oil in layering.

I smelled the entire new Gucci exclusives line. This was the only one that peaked my interest. Too bad it comes in the form of an oil and I don't typically wear perfume oil.

I do not have a possibility of testing it, but what a beautiful name!
