The Eyes Of The Tiger Eau de Parfum

Possibly the most unique fragrance I've ever had but not because it smells unique, it's just a unique scent to be captured as a perfume. Also, the most gorgeous bottle design. I love the Alchemist line; if not for the outrageous price, I would collect all of them just for the bottles. EoTT is very distinct but slightly linear. Honestly, when I first smelled this, I immediately knew what smell it is. EoTT is a softer, muskier smell of... Herocyn Skin Powder. (Legit. I smelled the perfume and the powder side by side. Herocyn is just slightly colder and minty.) Imagine a soft sloped hill; that's how smooth the transition between the blending notes are. Do not expect a normal, regular vanilla like one you'd find in sweets or baked goods, this is a raw still-attached-to-the-trees vanilla. It's subtle, soft, you can tell it's a vanilla plant growing under the summer sun. It's encased in a very leathery, almost cooling amber. Gritty but clean, completely resinous. A very menthol-like airiness. Almost exactly like Herocyn powder. This is why for me, it's not a unique perfume smell, but it *is* a unique smell for a perfume. Maybe I'm biased too because I love the smell of Herocyn. But with such a weak longevity, at this price point you'd rather spray a TBS vanilla perfume and lather the skin powder on your back.

Lovely toasty amber - warm, golden, slightly sweet and drying down to reveal more of the labdanum. It's very pure, which suits the idea that you can mix it with the other perfumes. I tried this with 'A Forgotten Rose', which gave it a lovely English Medieval feel, very much in keeping with the idea of alchemy. After a few hours it's just the amber of 'The Eyes of the Tiger' that remains, as you'd expect since rose doesn't last very long - maybe there's a smoothness added by the rose that remains.. These are so expensive, but very lovely quality. To compare with, say, the Armani Prive range, this Gucci series feels more natural and the Prive series is a bit harsh. I'd compare this golden amber to Goutal's Amber Fetiche, except the 'Tiger' is smoother and also less rough in feel. I'm currently looking for something special for an autumn event where I'll be exhibiting some paintings inspired by mythology of the Medieval planets, so I'm currently steeped in all things Medieval. If this was corresponding to a planet, it would of course be Sol/Sun (deemed a planet by Medievalists)- whose metal is gold - the metal that all the alchemists hoped to reproduce, for obvious reasons! Lovely for late summer early Autumn, a perfume for sunset in September. Verily pretty forsooth!

On me, Eyes of the Tiger opens up with a blast of powdery florals and aldehydes. Neither floral nor aldehydes are listed in the notes, but that is definitely what I get--purple flowers giving a powdery feel. The opening actually reminds me of Chanel fragrances with the floral aldehydic nature. As it wears the aldehydes dissipate and a sweet vanilla and warm Amber come in, giving a sweet powdery dry down. The vanilla in this is very nice, it is not synthetic smelling at all. The performance on this one is fantastic. The sillage on me is moderate to low, however it lasts all day! If you are a fan of purple flowers, or powdery fragrances with a slight sweetness then I would encourage you to try this one. This is a very beautiful, feminine fragrance, that I would not mind adding to my collection. Plus the bottles of these are STUNNING!! I think that this is the perfect fragrance to wear when there is a slight chill in the air.

My boyfriend bought this at a flea market for the equivalent of about 60 or 70usd, I love it when he wears it and smells like a clean powdery baby who just got a bath hahaha 🥹 it's so beautiful! Sometimes I get a couple sprays on me before work, I get whiffs of it throughout the day and it lasts until the shift is over (9+hrs) Smells like cotton clouds, vanilla, fairies, clean baby, just going by the vibes of it since I don't know how to smell specific notes hahaha. 2 or 3 REALLY light sprays are more than enough. Can be worn at any time i think, by any age or sex. Leans a bit more feminine but that doesn't matter if you aren't a Lil b... I'd love to try other scents from this line

Top 3 amber scent for me. My bottle is white from 2020. Reminds of Perfumer H Dust and Nicolai Amber Cashmere, but better than both. Better than Le Lion. In the vicinity of Labdanum 18 but not as animalic as my bottle of that one which can be challenging. I noticed that they brought it back in a black bottle. They don't have it at my local boutique and the employees know nothing about their own perfume and constantly turning over. This is a simple soapy amber with warm vanilla, labdanum and ultra smooth (but not sickly sweet) tonka. Not everything needs to be super complicated, and this is very good at what it does. I can see the comparison to HDP Ambre 114, but without the dirty, sharp, patchouli bite. A very clean, warm, buttery smooth, white amber. I normally don't like tonka but it's PERFECT in this, and doesn't remind me of tonka heavy designer frags. My go to amber along with Grand Soir and Coromandel. Be careful of fakes, I sampled at the boutique prior to purchase. Scent 9.5/10 Performance 8.5/10 P. S. These are designed to be layered. Layer Gloaming Night over Eyes of the Tiger and it's 🔥

Wow, I'm impressed, but really baffled by the notes on this! It's like wearing a resinous amber oerfume whilst sitting right beside a campfire! Warm, delicious, and very pleasant smoke! So much so I can't understand why smoke isn't in the notes? Gorgeous, but too expensive for me 🙁 Edited to add: after an hour the linear nature of the perfume got a bit dull. I'd buy it for £40 or £50, but not £250

To me this opens up as a beautiful creamy amber. The initial spray reveals vanilla but quickly fades. Zest_calco you are spot on about the bottles and even the scent reminds me of an amber perfume my Mother had from the 70's. This perfume has outstanding longevity on me. This perfume is great for anyone who loves Amber perfume but not one that is too cloying.

A great cool weather scent. Powdery and dusty, in the dry down it smells like a clean vanillic amber soap. This has a Le Lion feel but without the animalic feel. I actually prefer this one over the Chanel, as this isn't cloying and strong. Unisex leaning masculine in my opinion.

A very soft, elevated, intoxicating, beautiful amber/vanilla scent which in my opinion leans feminine. This is a unique amber scent and one of my favorites in this category of which I own more than 30 different perfumes from niche brands. Very good longevity and projection.

A beautiful composition of ambergis and rock rose blended perfectly with the highest quality vanilla I've ever smelled, wow stunning...there is a wood accord but it's hidden in there to give smoothness to the scent profile, this is good, this is really really good.

Price equals quality. This one is very strong and long lasting. Super dense labdanum centric and not your typical amber vanilla perfumes. Alberto Morillas' magic touch is undeniable. Special occasions material.

At first sniff I was on the fence about this one. After a full wear, this is truly craveable. The amber in this is absolutely beautiful. It lasts all day and is a compliment getter. Give it a try!

Smooth, creamy vanilla amber and powder. Labdanum swirls around somewhere in there I'm sure. The amber accord is not exactly animalic but it does have a nice resinous depth to it. Reminds me of a marshmallow or some kind of rich vanilla candy but not too sweet. I smelled this on a hoodie that I hadn't worn in a few days and swear I smelled a strawberry frosted donut from Dunkin Donuts. Maybe my laundry detergent was a factor there... Excellent performance; TEOTT is strong stuff. Lasted eight solid hours on me before going soft. I will say after a bike ride I'm still catching whiffs near hour 12. Probably won't offend at work but I do find it a sexy scent. This one is unisex maybe leaning feminine? Definitely a cooler weather fragrance. I do like this release from Gucci but is it worth the retail price? No. The notes are high quality and the performance is good but I have smelled this composition many times before. There are lots of powdery vanilla amber scents out there. Maybe worth it once it hits the discount sites but it will need a pretty nice markdown imo. I do like the bottle. It reminds me of milk glass bottles of the past century or so. Something your mom would have on her vanity that was passed down from her mother. Very fitting to the style of the scent as well. The name is silly. A nice perfume but a little too pricey for me.

A deceptively medium-bodied spring/fall amber that can also be worn in summer. On skin, ambery (sometimes smoky) sweetish vanilla opening followed by a heart of vanilla dominance. Soon hints of caramel swirls over the vanilla, followed by clear banana-ish ylang ylang flowers blooming towards the drydown. Clean, smooth, well-blended, balanced and deceptively simple fragrance that doesn't need additional layers but would still play nicely with other light floral, citrus and even woody scents. Moderately good sillage and excellent longevity. On paper this is a powdery, smoky, incensy and ambery oriental with a realistic and distinctive burning chinese incense paper and joss sticks accord. I wonder if this is how it will smell on fabric too? If indeed, then it's two fragrances in one bottle depending on where you apply it; woohoo! ;) Quite unique in the market among amber fragrances.

Powdery note to start with then turned to something sweet and sourish. Don’t know what that is but sure neither amber or vanilla. Is labdanum sourish? Overall dry down scent is okay but certainly not worth the price of a full bottle for me. Edit: that dry down I thought was not quite the last scent. The final scent is the amber I was expecting and the full purpose of the purchase. I like it a lot but it sure take its own sweet time to come through. Wish it was just that straight and beautiful scent. Anyone got a strong amber scent suggestions?

Powdery, lactonic, almost sour (chemically sweetened) vanilla note mixed with a light amberous accord. Nothing special. Typical and feminine leaning dumb-reach. There's something dark about it if sprayed in the right conditions. I'd consider this one very much body chemistry dependant. Try on skin. Just makes grade; just better than meh... whatever.

Tom Ford Arabian Wood mixed with YSL Jazz and Dries Van Noten par Frederic Malle. Leans very slightly masculine on my male skin. A classic chypre with vanilla and benzoin. Definitely a unique fragrance, but i’m not sure I like it or that I understand what type of customer they’re going after.

Radiant ambery scent with bright balsamic and resinous notes. Somewhat vintage and super powerful (longevity and protection are enormous). It’s sweet and quite powdery at the dry down. I can agree that it has some Le Lion vibes for sure. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

A beautiful powdery amber with floral nuances (rose possibly?). I find the simple note breakdown doesn’t do this fragrance justice. While it’s fairly linear, there is more going on than the three notes listed. My favorite from this line so far

This is a really warm and comforting scent. I get lots of amber and vanilla, which makes it perfect for colder weather. It's definitely unisex, leaning slightly masculine on me, but I love that about it.

This is a really beautiful clean, powdery amber with a slightly vintage soapy nuance. The vanilla is very present and has a ‘doll head’ quality that I really enjoy. On my skin, this quickly dries down to a lightly sweet, vanillic baby powder scent. It gives me a clean ‘out of the shower’ feeling. The suede like aspect of labdanum keeps this from veering too sweet. The Eyes of the Tiger does remind me of Le Labo’s Labdanum, but I think that Labdanum is more unisex. To me, The Eyes of the Tiger is distinctly feminine leaning because of the soapiness. This isn’t necessarily a loud scent, but you will be able to smell yourself and catch whiffs as you move around. It is incredibly long lasting. I can still detect it on my skin the next morning, although it’s very faint. It lasts on clothes until you wash them.

Very powdery, almost dusty, and a bit soapy. It is definitely amber and vanilla, but also a lot of purple florals like violet, heliotrope and iris, maybe even some lavender. I get a lot of patchouli and aldehydes from this. I like it but it smells too vintage for me.

This perfume is from Gucci's finest release The Alchemist Garden. Is a concept based on layering their eaux de parfum, scented waters and oils. The presentation is exquisite, each fragrance comes in a ceramic, vintage apothecary resembling bottle. I tested this perfume only on paper, expecting it would be a intoxicating ambery fragrance. I just couldn't stand it, it was horrible, there were some kind of synthetic burning wool note that really put me off. I slipped the blotter in my pocket just in case something amazing happen. Unfortunately it didn't evolve into something I would love! The dry down is nicer but don't unfold into the cozyness of warm amber. The cistus has a woody cool undertone that reminds me of cedarwood, very resinous and kind of sour, chypre. I believe that type of cistus adds a contrast to sweet vanilla and amber. But I think there's obviously something else in this composition... It's a very well crafted and balanced fragrance, but just another nice fragrance without any emotion.

I went back into DJs and tried this one again, mostly because it's on my 'buy' list, but in the 'if you can find it cheap' section, and I just wanted to try it out again, as it'd been over 3 months since my last test, and I was shocked to FINALLY be able to detect all the resin and baseyness that I wasn't able to detect all those months ago. Not only have I removed it from my 'buy' list, I've also gone back to my original sample (basically dregs, probs a spray or two remaining), and I'm convinced this has been either mislabelled or something else. It feels good to take a $500 scent off my list, it really TRULY does, as it's money I'd rather not spend...

Smells like a very mature sister to art foundation masaki matsushima. NOT worth the full price at all. A very powdery vanilla scent after dry down. I still like the perfume ( maybe because i dropped a lot of money on it) but i would highly suggest buying decant or samples before buying a full bottle. I only do three sprays as it is strong at first before it settles down. Seems to perform the same as the art foundation perfume, so if you can't afford $330 gucci eyes of the tiger. Go for the dupe, art foundation I am not into powdery scents at all, however this perfume is a rare exception. Bottle is very cute and I proudly dispaly it on my vanity set.

Goes on like an old fashioned style perfume heavy on the amber with a cedar tang, but in a loud way I don’t care for. It smells vintage in an aging way, sadly. The dry down is a much better vanilla amber that I really like, but there is still a kick of metallic perfume. At this point, I love it, though it’s not different enough to merit the price tag. No real projection or sillage at all. If it was cheap, I’d buy a huge bottle, but otherwise, no. Waiting out the powdery, old beginning was also not fun. So yes, cheap, I'd buy it, and I'll probably use up the sample.

This one was a bit of a letdown for me. I was expecting some grand soir esque resin. Well no, it's more like a mature powdery soapy amber. I'd have to test on skin to know properly but strip testing gives enough away to see if this may be up your alley. I get some white florals too here - I'd say it's a powdery floral amber overall. Definitely more complex than these notes lead you to believe so do test before you buy.

Very nice scent, but I don't believe the notes in the pyramid are complete. l get the amber and labdanum, but where is the vanilla? also I perceive a ton of violet and violet leaf. A little bit similar to Caron Aimez moi and Love in Black by creed in a watery, diluted way. Overpriced, I would not pay full price for this.

Fresh spicy herbal scent, very mysterious and complex. This is also one of my favorite from this line aside from voice of snake. I think almost every creation made by Alberto Morillas never been failed to impress me so far

I'm also confused by this, the notes were making me expect something totally different but for some reason it smells way too similar to the Virgin Violet fragrance, sad. Didn't like either one.

Gentle, classy, powdery and feminine. Reminds me of perfumes from the 80's and 90's. This new Gucci collection is my new weakness.

This starts out as feminine with some spices and turns into a soft, very powdery dry-down. It was too powdery for me.

Coziest scent ever , it smells like powder but not in a soapy or vintage way and also smells like vanilla and milk.

Shalimar Millésime Iris Guerlain, Wonder Woman THOS + a bit of Coromandel. That's it. Not bad though.
