The Heart of Leo

There is a complexity that is gentle but strong at the same time. Try it on your skin - this one is likely dependent on body chemistry. It opens up as a sticky, resinous, black currant, it's a very dark scent from the resins. It reminds me of dark fruit, dark red lipstick, and is pretty intimidating. I personally don't enjoy the resinous opening, but the reason why I bought a fb was the dry down. It dries down as a sweet, slightly powdery amber for me that's perfect. It has substance and no animalic smells. It smells like sweet skin. And the black currant never goes away! As a black currant lover I'm so impressed and wonder how on earth they did it? This one is a beast, 3 sprays max and everyone will be smelling you as you walk by. I also love the atomizer it is the best out of any perfume bottle I've sprayed in my entire life. The bottle design alone is art. While I agree this is pricey, I can't think of anything that would provide a similar experience. I just kept thinking of it after trying it on skin and decided to order a fb. It is NOT a safe blind buy. Honestly, anything at this price range would not be a safe blind-buy but I know us enthusiasts do it anyways. But please try on your skin in both winter and summer!

The Heart of Leo by Gucci felt like the perfect early birthday gift for my husband ... he’s a Leo, after all, and I couldn’t resist the symbolism. It’s such a classy, well-composed scent. Definitely something I’d label as an aromatic dinner date fragrance elegant, a little mysterious, and effortlessly sparkling. With notes of blackcurrant, olibanum, and myrrh, it starts off with a crisp charm and settles into something smooth and pleasing. But funnily enough... I ended up using it more than my husband! For him, it leans a bit too light, so he prefers to layer it with deeper fragrances. For me, though, it’s a soft luxury I can easily wear on its own. – Bhavna Darira Chesan

This is a truly beautiful fruity Iris resin fragrance. It opens up with a blast of fresh blackcurrant, and has a lingering fresh and almost lipstick-y nuance throughout. nice you get to the heart of the fragrance, you reach a beautiful realistic Iris note. It is elegant and has a minor indolic, but not headache-y quality. It dries down into a smooth fruity Iris with some vanillic and fruity nuances. I love this fragrance and it also is a beautiful take on blackcurrant. A masterpiece of a fragrance. Bottle 9/10 Smell 10/10 Performance 8/10 (good longevity but sits close to the skin) Overall 9/10, my favorite blackcurrant fragrance as well as my favorite Iris fragrance!

I get a slight lipstick vibe someone else metioned at first but it's not bad like I imagined. I get black currant with some incensey myrrh mostly. I might be getting the olibanum too, I just am not good at identifying that note yet. Definitely a nice, comforting, seductive scent to me. I wouldn't wear this in hot weather, but fall through spring, and summer date nights would suite this one well imho. I hate how expensive it is, but I'll be getting a full bottle when it's available at a discount.

I sampled this at a Sephora and it actually smells really really good it took me off guard. Opens with a burst of black currant that is slightly sweet and sour. The lower notes gently come forward and fully blend with the black currant. Giving it a deeper ambery feel with some spiciness. It's actually very good! Unisex, suitable for all seasons, except in extreme heat, in my opinion.

This is so pretty and cozy and classy. I am in love 🖤 Imagine you had the most relaxing bubble bath and moisturized your skin. You have a black currant snack. You are getting ready to go to bed in purple silk pajamas.

Warning: Do not spray more than 3 drops. The scent may disturb your mind. A sweet, seductive scent is suitable for winter nights with purple red lipstick. This scent caters to those with a seductive nature.

holy moly this is great, dry down is great too, leaves such a nice trail and projects perfectly imo, on top of that, lasts 12+ hours on my skin

At its core, it's a different composition but carries traces of many perfumes. The first note that struck my nose when I sprayed it was the leather note, which I found somewhat similar to the leather note in Imitation Man. Then, in the background, myrrh began to reveal itself. Here, the myrrh note reminded me of the myrrh note in Mrrh&Tonka. There is, of course, a balanced sweetness in the perfume, coming from the black currant. In the same balance, incense also makes itself felt in the background. As it dries down, the sweetness gives way to the incense. The use of myrrh and leather has made it somewhat reminiscent of amber perfumes. I think it has turned out to be a beautifully successful perfume this time. I can't say it's very suitable for general taste, but it's not overly artistic or a work that would make one wrinkle their nose. Lastly, the performance is quite good. Longevity is a day, and the sillage is close to the skin after the first 3 hours.

I'm very indifferent with this fragrance. The more I have worn it the more I like it but I don't think I could ever purchase a bottle . At $380 it's just not that special . Plus I know I have smelled some similar stuff . When first sprayed it smells feminine. Like a dark berry resin with a floral undertone. As the top notes fade away you just keep getting more and more warm spice and and balsamic. Once it totally dries down about 40 minutes later you can smell all the notes but the balsamic is definitely the main accord. It's a very delicate spiced fragrance when it dries down that continues to get sweeter in very small increments. If this were around 150 - 180 at discounters I'd probably get it but 380 is way too much . It projects ok for about 2 hours . Totally fades after about 5 hours . I wear 4 sprays when testing . Scent - 8.0 Complexity - 8.5 Quality - 9.5 Performance - 7.0 Bottle - 8.5

I just bought it today and I feel that it is a risky bet, not because it is difficult to use, on the contrary, it is great, it is not challenging, but as I suspected since I saw its notes, it would be impossible to treat the currant note in any other way, although The myrrh and olibanum give it a sophisticated touch. It is pure black currant, so many (not my case because I use all types of compositions) will find it quite "feminine." The currant note here has a facet like a lipstick, but Not because they contain an iris 'a la Dior Homme' but because there is something that reminds me of the smell of old lipsticks (for example, Sí Passione and Tiffany and Co Rose intense, it doesn't look like these but there is something that reminds me of them) So far I see a fairly linear behavior and the performance, as is common in the line, is quite moderate.

This entire line of scents all remind me of bath/body/makeup items I had in the 70s/80s. This one is weirdly clean, fresh, and comforting. Smells like vintage lipstick in the best way. Reminds me of the little sample tubes we used to get from Avon and Mary Kay in the 70s/80s. I only have a small bottle of this but am not likely to buy a larger size. Mostly because I'm not sure I want to smell like this. There is a distinct waxy note that makes it one I probably would only wear when alone. I like it, but not enough to buy again when the bottle is gone.

Seems to be highly skin dependent. On the cloth ribbon all I got was iris. On the SA's skin it was fruity and sweet. On my skin it's the listed notes of blackberry, olibanum and myrrh, but in addition I detect a little a tiny bit of leather, wood, and perhaps a pin prick of violet. It could also be the orris root giving me that impression. Nice scent and probably layers well. Not worth retail for me personally. However, I can tell they used a high good quality orris here, which is very expensive.

The name is very misleading. Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful fragrance, but why is it described as an "Incense Fragrance"? All I get is musk, iris, and amber. Performance is quite weak, had to re-spray every 2 hours to remind myself i actually have perfume on.

I am very confused by this fragrance. I smell no incense/olbanum, but I do smell a lot of Iris which is not listed as a note. A very sweaty Iris mixed with dark and brooding, possibly rotting, black current. This is a great scent for iris lovers that also enjoy black currant as it takes a back seat to the Iris but is very distinct. I noticed that black currant consistently imparts a dark, dank and cold feeling to me when it is present in scents, and I don’t know if I like that. The Heart of Leo is something I would wear occasionally when in a darker don’t touch me mood, but is just a bit too much on the earthy side for me.

As a Lio, I can only say this one should have been named The Heart of Kitten. This is not a fume for a Lio. It doesn't scream I am here, I am mighty. It doesn't roar. It meows and it purrs. And that is okay. If it were 60 bucks a pop at discounter's website. But at $350 and having the word Lio in its name, it manages to disappoint in the same fashion as Chanel Le Lion did. Moving on.

This is a $384 (USD) bottle of fruit jam scent. Or candy, whichever floats your boat. Tasteful bottle imparts quite the halo effect, but you would never guess this is a private line from the scent alone.

Even though I’m a Leo and was excited to add this one to my collection but I didn’t like it. I’m a floral girl and this scent is just not for me

I'm not into Gucci as a brand at all, so I have been surprised by how much I am enjoying the Alchemist's Garden collection. That said, The Heart of Leo is a big exception. I hate this one. The smell is a combination of black currant (think fruit squash beverage concentrate) and super waxy lipstick. As others have noted, this has a flavored chapstick effect, and to me even a Red Bull or similar energy drink adjacency. It hasn't fared much better on my skin (I was given a sample at a boutique). The longevity is quite short, which has been for the better, as is the limited sillage. I was initially agreeing with others' assessment that the name doesn't fit, but then I thought more about it: "Lionhearted" describes someone exceptionally courageous, brave, and fearless, often acting with great fortitude or daring; that sums up what it would take for me to wear this one. I'm sure there are those who love this (congrats/enjoy), but it's not for me at all.

ok--i've never done this before. Blackcurrant is one of favorites. Tears of the Tiger is one of my top 5 fragrances. So why do I hate Heart/Leo so much?. Not just "not like," but i am truly repelled. Worst fragrance next to Lush Oak Apologies to Leos.

maybe i am doing heart of leo a disservice. i am judging by 3 samples bought on ebay. all 3 are different.

Seeing if and how overal sweetness gets toned down by misty 7°C evening excursion, pretty much does, goes straight to balsamic almost lipstick Iris, with the tamed warmth. For that though, ideal outdoors night time scent, Cassis Iris with the resins, no Amber, no spices, no woods. Generous Alchemist's Garden atomizer might make it a heat sensitivity risk if applied more than one puff for them unexpected warm indoors, perfect winter Holidaze parfum for sure. And then an hour and a half in? Its realness arises. Metalic side accord fades away, get a boost of general livelyness, get satisfying fun fruit back without the citrus and not even cozy ripe, just right in the middle, added on and separate to the Iris like dryness that lasts throughout the wear. So mid phase's pretty much a hidden gem, overall deep diver and of course get the massif Alchemist's Garden drydown.

I had big hopes since I am a Leo who happens to love this collection, especially the scents put out so far in the black bottles, A Midnight Stroll and The Voice of the Snake, both powerful and distinctive scents. This is a pleasant, sweet scent that doesn’t seem to match the marketing or the bottle. I’d say this would suit a gentle Libra or perhaps a flirty Saggitarius but nothing about this scent is Leonine. Smells like the female Gucci Guilty that was released years ago, the purple one with blackberry. I don’t smell much use of budget in the formula. Baffling to me why they decided to put this in a black bottle and attach it to the name “Leo”.

Fruity opening with the Cassis, I'm getting florals, Iris although not listed. The Cassis Iris mix is pretty neet, makes me personally like the Iris note more. Bitter, dark and powdery but it's a humble scent. If one owns The Voice of the Snake there will be an inertia of feeling that this is not strong enough, and beast mode people will not like it at first. One to two hours in, turns into a cushy story. Ebdy who knows cozy myrrhs and cozy olibanums knows exactly what this is. It's a smooth situation. A lot more to explore, this will mold with the PH for two to three weeks for suuure.

It’s smells alright, but no way this is an interpretation of a Leo. As I am a Leo, and this is not bold. This leans feminine and powdery. Smells like the Women’s cosmetic areas in department stores. Theirs a scent in this smells like Orris or iris or its incense , which is not in the pyramid. I was expecting more masculinity, Woody Spicy scent. This a fruity iris floral scent with the lip stick smell while myrrh is in the background . The Orris or incense is a deal breaker for me as a Man.

This SCREAMS of an unfinished designer fragrance marketing ploy to me. Gucci- don’t tell me that this $375 bottle of fragrance would smell better layered with 2-3 more Gucci fragrance layers at $375 per bottle to smell astounding. $375 USD per bottle should give me an amazing, complete and fully refined layered fragrance alone. That’s utter nonsense that I refuse to be a part of. BTW: Why can’t we have the complete notes listing. 3 notes, seriously?

I also get the Dior Homme lipstick note poking through slightly, which I actually love, but it all cooks down to smelling like the dry down of lost Cherry on me🤷🏻♂️ not a Smokey incense unfortunately, quite sweet in the dry down phase which last forever so became cloying to me...I’m ready for a take on myrrh like Eau Sauvage Parfum 😫

Store Test Short Review: As some have already stated, this is iris dominant, initially coming off make-up like then mildly earthy, but it does dry down to a more fruity scent, and it has a light resin at its base. Very pleasant, a little misleading, odd move considering they discontinued two powdery iris/violet scents...

Creamy iris at the opening that fades away at dry down . Then you only smell amber with black current .

Surprised powdery isn’t on the break down Powdery sweetness is the perfect way to describe this
