The Last Day Of Summer Eau de Parfum

Blind bought this... and all I can say is wow...Presentation is a heavy textured white box with gold foil printing with a Victorian/baroque style all around. The lid lifts off to reveal the fragrance laying in the box atop a handsome striped ivory satchel with matching bird motif. It has the feel of an ornate coffin upon opening. The bottles are stunning and feel very high quality. Quite heavy in the hand and the cap fits so tight it could easily support the weight of the bottle when pressed on. ‘The Last Day of Summer’ is in pristine white gloss lacquer with realistic looking reflective gold print that has a slightly raised texture imitating a hand painted gilded bottle. Two pops of green print fill the bow tie on the wreath surrounding the perfumes title. The top of the cap is adorned with the same bird and a band of gold, with the cap appearing to be an antique ’stopper’. I am not exaggerating when I say the atomizer on this bottle is the best I have ever seen or sprayed, similar to some Dior’s. A longer that usual sustained fine, fine mist comes out producing a voluminous dose, almost seemingly powered by aerosol. This aroma is a dank, earthen smell unlike any fragrances I can think to compare it, yet doesn’t feel ‘heavy’, cloying or oppressive. The nutmeg plays a big role here and provides just enough nutty sweetness to lift the patchouli and very rooty smelling Vetiver. The sillage it produces is just gorgeous: you get floating trails of musty green woods and a vibe that tricks me into thinking I’m smelling high grade sandalwood. While I can understand anyone wanting to smell like this, as it comes across very natural and earthy, it does read to me slightly more masculine, only very slightly...This is likely due to the very earthy use of Vetiver. It even seems to imitate a subtle leather accord... I can say I have nothing in my collection close to it, however, I do feel it is at home amongst other Alessandro-era Gucci fragrances that use daring raw earthy notes, namely Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme. If you hate Vetiver you may want to skip this one, it has a very rooty earthy feel. In my mind it conjures mosses and lichens growing on a fallen cedar tree on the forest floor with the first chill of autumn bringing a slight moisture to the air causing the smells of these natural growths to atomize up into the air and hover near the ground. Lovers of earthy smells must get your noses on this one, it produces a calming feeling, a slight sense of melancholy knowing the end of summer has arrived and that first rustle of leaves makes you take notice and know fall is approaching and with it darker days and colder nights to come, but with the seasons change new beautiful landscapes of colors and smells you forgot you had missed during the hot days of summer. An aptly named perfume and well executed vision-in-smell of what the last day of summer smells like.

Most fall focused scents that try to capture the feelings and ambience of autumn end up reminding me of fall candles. Kilian Smoking Hot is good but I get that vibe from it as well. This one hits that mark without giving me that synthetic feeling. I was finally able to aquire a discounted bottle over a year after trying it at the boutique. It just hits that vibe perfectly for me without being cloying. The cedar nutmeg combo is really great here, and it lasts a long time without shouting across a room. My friends who I've let try it, really like it, and want a bottle. Unfortunately, it's been discontinued, so many won't get a chance to check this one out without paying a truckload of money on a blind buy. Highly recommend you try it if you get a chance. P.S. Watch out for fakes. I bought a fake bottle of Midnight Stroll from a poor guy that had no idea he'd been wearing a counterfeit, which are unsanitary and dangeroust to put on skin. The scent should be rich, elegant (midnight should be strong) and not smell cheap. Pay close attention to the bottle and packaging, and try to feel the real bottle bag so you know the texture. This fragrance is very high quality. I wear it like aromatherapy after a shower in the evening. when I first tested at Gucci I was surprised at how masculine it was considering how feminine the bottle is. it starts spicy and warm. it dries down very soft and very woody, although it took a few weeks for the woody scent to macerate and mature. it reminds me of a chest of drawers or antique armoire lined with aged burgundy velvet. regarding performance: this redefines the word "eternal". it is hands down the longest lasting fragrance I own. I can easily smell this on my skin 15-20+ hours after application. with a nice long spray and sumptuously fine mist, it also happens to be the best atomizer I've ever used, and must contribute to its longevity. 9/10 overall because of its linear dry down, and heavier use can get cloying into the second day 😅 update: this woody cedar blends well under many other scents with woody bases, and blue fragrances. believe it or not even Fahrenheit layers beautifully over this, making the dry wood wet and aromatic. of course it also goes well with other Alchemist Collection scents, esp Autumn Leaves

oh my god this is so good On first spray, a bright/sharp dash of freshly grated nutmeg - combined with the cypress & cedar it has a tough cough-syrupy edge. The nutmeg here is so pure and true. When I cook I always use freshly grated nutmeg because the already-ground stuff does NOT compare in scent or flavor, and this is very fresh, you can smell that oily medicinal edge when the newly exposed surface of the inside of the nutmeg hits the air. Then everything calms down a bit, the cough syrup/medicinal vibe disappears, and what's left is fresh spice on a bed of conifer forest and a soft gentle layer of vetiver underneath it all. I feel like the vetiver is perfectly used here, sometimes if there's too much it projects forward on me and that's all i can smell, but here it is a wonderful supporting note. I can't stop sniffing myself and everything is beautiful. Like sunshine through the trees in the mountains. The name is poetic but this feels more like the first breath of fall than the last day of summer. Don't care, I love it.

I love this scent a lot. For me the opening and heart of the fragrance are very unisex, but the dry down was a bit feminine, mature and powdery. I'm relieved I dont like the dry down because I really can't afford to love this as much as I love the rest of it. I'm wearing it today in 90F heat. Inside, in the cold air-conditioning, it's sweet amber and smokey patchouli. When I wear it outside it lives up to its name. It reminds me of the very dry dead grass at the end of summer with the smell of the flowers that have dried in the heat. After an hour hitting golf balls at the range it's still lingering close to my skin. I personally like this more in the cold weather months.

At the very beginning, the fragrance opens with a slightly coniferous nuance and a hint of balsamic warmth, I assume this comes from the vetiver. The opening feels rich and dense, almost enveloping. As it unfolds, the composition becomes softer, revealing a pleasant delicate sweetness, lightness, and femininity. Overall, the scent feels warm, elegant, and perfectly in harmony with its name. It also evokes an association with autumn and fallen leaves 🍂 Alberto Morillas is truly a master 👏🏻 creating such a soft and elegant fragrance from this rather complex pyramid is pure artistry!

This is just gorgeous and perfect for fall. It’s woody, spicy, and just the right amount of sweetness shines through. It smells completely different when I smell it directly on my skin (more woody, darker) than when I smell it in the air around me (aromatic, sweet woods). It’s just special. My young daughters always tell me I smell good when I wear this, too. It has pretty good longevity for how airy it is. The Alchemist’s Garden line has some true gems in it, and The Last Day of Summer is in my top 3 I’ve tried. Beautiful natural smelling perfume of such high quality.

I'm wearing this right now after returning from the Gucci boutique. It's nice and performance is better than most of the others except for midnight stroll and voice of the snake. I wore this in 100° temperatures and it's still on my skin 7hrs later. This is like a more user friendly version of midnight stroll but without incense. Woody and smokey. Does it remind me of the last day of summer? No, it reminds me more of Halloween or Fall 🎃. Not worth anything close full retail of 350.......but I do like it. Scent 8/10 Performance 7/10

There is a home we rent in late summer in Crillon-le-Brave. Near the village but isolated up a long gravel road surrounded by vineyards, olive trees and cypress trees. This perfume is the embodiment of the atmosphere of this beloved holiday destination. Summer and its promise waning but still potent, flora wilting and withering under the sun, tree bark drying and potent. It's beautiful and one of my favorites but used sparingly. The nutmeg is beautiful, perfect. Sensual but not serious.

Went into Harvey Nichols looking for a heavy oriental scent and ultimately got introduced to this one. As a person who's into classy, vintagy things - I fell in love with the design on the bottle and the overall design mood of this relatively new Gucci collection. This perfume is strong and classy, it's posh in a gentle way. Note: I don't understand why they've named it "The Last Day of Summer" - it smells like a winter scent!

Very nice concept. Smells amazing off the tester strip but it's way too dry on the skin. The nutmeg note is nice in small doses but it gets a bit too photorealistic sometimes and makes me feel like I have a spoonful of grated nutmeg in my mouth. Ratings for originality but I personally don't find it good enough for a full bottle.

Italian Cypress was the scent that got me into fragrance, and I was heartbroken that they discontinued it.... ...until now. The perfect follow up to TF's Italian Cypress, but with more warmth and depth on the back as it opens. Stuff lasts at least 8 hours on me. Its the center of my small collection, 'nuff said.

this is beautiful beautiful sent, and i completely forgot that i have 30++ perfumes since i got this. this is dry, soft, calming nutty woody with very good sillage and amazing projection. perfect for rainy day. last 7-9 hours on my skin. instantly become my signature scent. 9/10 ps: the bottle is to die for!

Slightly nutty Woods on a patchouli base with smooth vetiver rounding it out. I'll be honest here and say I'd probably give up half of my fumes for this Gucci Alchemist Garden collection because it's that good to me. These are just good, this whole line is how I want to smell.

As a fan of woody fragrances im a fan of this one. Woody aromatic, with faint smoky patchouli and nutmeg in the background, all well blended. Not unique but nice all year round smell. Biggest draw back is the hefty price tag unfortunately.

I have many perfumes and a hundred perfume sample decants and I rarely find something that feels "me". This one is earthy with notes that are classically male but somehow still feels feminine. Perfect, love it.

Bottle, name and notes sounds really amazing ... Anybody knows where I could get this ?

Being summer the worst of the seasons for me (US Gulf coast), the name caught my attention, as the end of the summer is a big reason for celebration. I remember sampling this many years ago in a Neiman Marcus and not being impressed, which is generally the problem with testing at Department Stores where the air is filled with perfume. Fast forward a few years, I saw this being discontinued and ordered a decant, along with one of the Voice of the Snake. It was an immediate love for me. I get mostly cypress with nutmeg on a woody base. Maybe a little patchouli and fortunately I don't detect any vetiver. The composition is smooth and well-rounded, leans masculine and seems to have decent longevity. Also, although the atomizer is cheap, the bottle is a work of art.

I assumed this would be heavily masculine leaning but i am pleasantly surprised. Definitely leans a smidge masculine, but definitely still fairly unisex. There's a very heavy coniferous, piney note here but it's well tempered by sweet earthy vetiver and the spiciness of the nutmeg. There's a woodyness from the cedar, the patchouli doesn't feel especially present to my nose. Maybe contributes a bit to the earthyness but i can't isolate it. The cedar and nutmeg are stronger here than the note breakdown would have you believe. In fact if i had to rank notes in terms of prominence it would be cypress > cedar > nutmeg > vetiver > patchouli. Not ideal for a hot summer day. Probably best worn in transitory seasons like spring and fall.

I would say this scent is quite nice for about 90 minutes to 2 hours. Then it is down to almost nothing on me. The opening is the best part. The freshness of the cypress and the sweetness of the nutmeg makes for a great partnership. It’s a happy casual uplifting scent I would say. And actually more suited to fall than summer. Safe. Unisex. I would not buy a bottle because of the short half life but that’s not the same for everyone so I would encourage a trial if you like the notes or if you admire Mr Morillas, as I do. I got a sample through surrender to chance.

This is a really nice one. I get tart, red berries and conifer, with slightly sweet nutmeg and patchouli. This is well-rounded, and everything is blended to perfection. Red berries aren't listed, but I get them, especially in the opening. I find this to be unisex, leaning masculine. Would be great for fall/winter.

Starts out as faux, "amberous" woods. Meh. Quickly recovers into a dank and realistic patchouli hybrid. Very nice, dark greenery toned out with nutmeg. Good stuff. Unisex. If worn by a woman, has a little but of an overtly maybe, grandma vibe. Just a but. If on a man, it's suit and tie or out of place.

This scent from Gucci’s haute perfumery line, the Alchemist’s Garden, allows you to cling onto a summer feeling year-round. It’s a warming, cozy scent made up of cedarwoods, cypress, and nutmeg, with woody undertones of patchouli and vetiver. Bonus: The lacquered glass bottle is super chic too.

This is such a lovely scent! starts out a little too spicy for my taste, but it settles gorgeously into something very sweet, warm, fresh that lasts and lingers in such an infectious way.

Very fresh and green scent. Patchouli certainly is strong here. The whole scent become more somber and woody later on. I was holding the nozzle the wrong way and had it all sprayed into my hand. The scent in my had was very strong at first but very quickly disappeared even while a small spray on clothing lingered on. Nice spice dry down. Certainly the longevity is not up to par with the price. Neither is the silage. Rather disappointing.

This is dark sweet patchouli, not to sweet. If you like dark patchouli this is for you. Edit: Am i the only one with bad performance. There is no projection, after 1h i have to put my nose against the skin to smell anything. Yes it's original, batch is from 2021. I own also Gloaming Night by Gucci and that one preforms excellent, also 2021 batch.

This is definitely a spicy, dark patchouli scent like others have mentioned. I dont normally enjoy scents like this so my review might be a little biased but I will say, it's not very overpowering on the dry down so it's better than most dark patchouli-woody scents ive tried. Even if you're into this type of scent I don't really find it worth it because of its hefty price tag. I dont think its anything special either, its a smell ive gotten from many colognes on the market but its definitely on the softer side if that makes sense. That being said, It's definitely a unisex fragrance maybe even a bit more masculine-leaning. I dont know, other than the bottle being super stunning this is very bleh.

Not as woody as your would expect it to be.

Absolutely stunning fragrance. With a small online discount on Saks, I blind bought this a few months ago and it's been love at first sniff. I'll say I have a general bias towards dry, green woody fragrances, but man, the quality of this fragrance is just undeniable. It's almost difficult to dissect, which is what makes it such a quality composition. Bitter cedar, cypress, and earthy vetiver are met with the warmth of nutmeg and patchouli. It does have a medicinal tinge initially, but that disappears rather quickly. The way the nutmeg is used here is, dare I say, ingenious. As it warms up on your skin, its spiciness suggests sunlight, or a forest drying in the late afternoon sun. Dense, but at the same time airy and fleeting. In tandem, vetiver provides a freshly upturned earth feeling (more dry peat than wet soil). Vetiver is one of those fragrances that I generally stay away from, as synthetic or low quality vetiver in most fragrances often smells sour and gives me headaches, but this is not that. This is the vetiver that I imagine people fall head-over-heels for. All of the materials in this fragrance forwardly express their high quality. It even feels oily, which makes the very fine spray even more impressive. And while it sits pretty close to the skin, it stays with you until the next day. I wouldn't know if it was "worth" the retail price tag (that's always subjective), but I will say I don't have any regrets buying it and will gladly buy it again when I finish this bottle. On an unrelated note, I've expressed some embarrassment to owning a Gucci fragrance as the brand in the last few years has developed a reputation for excessive branding and tackiness, but I recently read an i-D interview with Creative Director Alessandro Michele, and while I am still not a fan of the logos and merchandising, he did convince me of the direction he's taking Gucci in. A true visionary who pulls inspiration from every imaginable corner of the universe, I'm very excited to see what other fragrances await us in The Alchemist's Garden.

This is a good reminder to occasionally try things outside your comfort zone. I never would have tried this frag because the notes on paper don't particularly appeal to me (and patchouli usually makes me gag) but a friend I bought a full bottle of Memo from included a carded sample, and... it turned out to be my #1 favourite frag of all time, out of the hundreds I've tried and my ruthlessly curated collection of niche. It's hard to describe its beauty. The sweetness of the nutmeg lends an almost gourmand warmth to the cedar notes, and (like a few other people here) my nose gets a not-listed smooth sandalwood-- cozy but still very elegant, like Balmain pajamas or something. Perfectly unisex, and I'd wear it in any season except maybe the hottest days of summer. Also, if the retail price is making you shrivel, I got a reasonably* affordable tester from a discounter. *Not according to my partner, most likely ;)

I'm a little surprised patchouli is third in line in the voting up above. For me, this is all about the patchouli. Earthy and dank. Dont let the name fool you, this doesnt have anything at all to do with summer. We're going all the way deep into October here... conjuring up some graveyard ghouls. I would actually love it if I got more of that cypress that seems to be coming through for everyone else, but the woody aspect that jumps out honestly feels like oud. If I ignore the notes and just close my eyes and trust the nose, I'm pulling patchouli, oud, spices and amber. In that order. Lately, I've really been gravitating to things that feature the note of patchouli front and center, and this hits all the right notes.

A dusky perfume, nostalgic. Patchouli gives it an earthy raspiness - a lasting, lingering haze, otherwise it would be about sweet resinous cypress with clean nutmeg and nice rooty vetiver. I do think of autumn on its way - the scent of damper cooler earth amidst the aroma of mature trees. An evocative scent which has a sort of golden elegance and mystery - like September sunset on old stone. Hmm, waxing lyrical there, but this does conjure up a walk I used to take on my return from work some years ago, through a park filled with ancient trees, then through a neighbourhood of beautiful Arts and Craft era houses. I like it, but it's definitely one for late summer and autumn, as intended - hence the name!

After smelling 7 EdPs from the fancy bell jars, I ended up testing this one. Well, mostly because I like woodsy fragrance I admit. This one seemed to be mediocre at first, spicy woods and nothing ground breaking, I can't recall a particular cheaper version but the genre is heavily populated for sure. However, as I'm wearing the sample, it's actually more pleasant than I first perceived. It has a restrained beauty. It's well balanced between woods and spices, and there's an interesting incense note that gives it some character. Again, I'm not going to comment on the value, but I think it's worth a test.

First impression: an interesting slightly fresh herbal woods with an earthy undertone from the present but tame patchouli. Definitely get a nice texture of vines but without the prickly edges, all smoothed out. The earthiness comes across similar to anise surprisingly, but only noticeable if you Bury your nose in. Nice, but not my style. 5.5/10 (subjective) EDIT: this grew on me, now a 7.5/10. Very calming and zen but always intriguing at the same time. Feels "complete" bc all edges have been smoothed out.

Stop, do not blind buy! I'm glad I ordered a 1 ml sample from Fragrance decant Boutique... (very nice service) ...by the way. I was looking for a great cypress fragrance. This was hyped as the best cypress fragrance by one YouTuber. I don't get any distinct cypress note. I get a very sweet Vetiver and nutmeg mostly. It's pleasant and will be mass appealing. Nah hate unisex scents. Has no character. No wearer in mind by the perfumer. Unisex scents all have one thing in common... Profit over artistic creation. The Last Day smells nice but its neither masculine or feminine. It's genderless. Thus boring

Great calming scent, very similar to Amouage Timber with the latter having more depth. Owning both may be redundant in my humble opinion. Great for cozy wear and unlikely to offend any one. Versatile and zen like. Shukran Habibi

I gets cypress, woods, and some incense. It’s a great fall fragrance, and I feel like I’ve smelled it before. It really is a standout. Great fragrance. If it sold at a designer price everyone would be talking about it.

This one is one of my faves and go-tos. Kinda reminds me of Oud Wood from Tom Ford. Love it is much
