Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia

Y'all. I was never really "into perfume" until I became a total head-over-heels lover of Cacharel's 'Promesse'. Every perfume I'd tried before changed so dramatically on me that even though I was crazy about fragrances I had entirely given up. But then one day I hugged my best friend and she smelled like pure gorgeous giddy happiness and joy and there I discovered Promesse. Obviously I was devastated when Promesse was discontinued. The search for some kind of replacement introduced me to this entire whole-ass comprehensive, very complex, complicated, and enchanting world of fragrance. Please be gentle with me, I'm a total noob. Through reddit I found out about Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia as a replacement for Promesse, and on me it is a solid gold smash hit, definitely it. The longevity sucks on me but it lasts ages on my clothes. That only sucks because I work in assisted living healthcare and I have to wash my work clothes after every wear. When I wear this I get more compliments from my residents and coworkers than any other fragrances I've ever worn. Folks say it smells like happiness and giddiness and that's exactly what I'm going for in my work with older folks. I'm new to the genre of perfume/fragrance and I don't have the language I wish I could give for fancy fragrance reviews but I can tell you with absolute certainty that when I wear Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia every single friend, coworker, resident, sitter, and family member remarks about how happy and un-lonely this fragrance makes everybody feel, and it makes me feel like that, too, just utterly darling happiness, juicy fruity calm chill good, with gorgeous, rich, flowery fruity joy, and a sharp clean cedar-like cutting through the sweet and almost kinda underlining the fruit and flowers to keep them from getting too much. I am absolutely in love with this fragrance and so is everyone who's experienced it around me so far. My only complaint is that it doesn't last long at all, acts like a body/hair scent rather than a legit EDT. Buying the whole bottle and then the refill is the way. The original gorgeous gold bee bottle cost me $90 USD and then the refill cost the same but that refill will fill your pretty bee bottle like four times (!!!) so it's sooo absolutely 100% worth the initial investment. TL/DR: Omg it's just so darling if only it lasted longer.

love at first sniff. granada salvia smells like a fresh pink-purple lemonade being drank on a balcony with a view over a big beautiful garden full of cypresses, herbs, flowers, fountains and antique sculptures in the mediterranean. this fragrance opens up with a delicious lemon, or, rather, it smelled like a very realistic lemon peel to me. the crazy citrus lasted a few seconds until it calmed down a bit and after around five minutes the zesty citrus was fully rounded by the berry sweetness of the black currant. such a lovely fresh fruity scent, i almost devoured my wrist. after approximately thirty minutes the citruses were nearly undetectable, smelling only fresh fruity sweetness of the pomegranate and cypress. on my skin the rose and sage weren't really prominent - i'm curious how they'd perform on extra hot day - if they'd show. unfortunately, the scent kept close to skin and it was gone rather soon. maybe three hours after spraying i clearly detected the base notes, mostly the patchouli (which i loved). it is a perfect blend and the notes fit each other nicely, it's a shame the longevity and projection are fairly poor. perfect summer scent, i'll probably get a full bottle, even tho the longevity - price ratio is not ideal, but it's just so good.

Okay, I've gathered my thoughts on this one and I'm updating my review. Performance and longevity is mid. It lasts a good 3-4 hours on skin, and about 4-5 days on clothes (very mildly though). It's really unique to me, I don't think I've ever smelled anything like it. I've been wearing it off and on for the past couple of months, and I even got a full-sized bottle of it because I like it so much. I'll try to describe it the best I can, but it's really one you've just gotta smell for yourself. It's like walking into a wooded citrus grove after pinching a sprig of sage between your fingers. Like sipping an herbal pink lemonade in the park in springtime. Bergamot, lemon, pomegranate and sage are the star players here. Very herbal-fresh and fruity. This would absolutely SHINE in hot weather, and it does really well in cool weather too. In hot weather it gets a lot fruitier, but in cool weather it's more herbaceous. Try it, seriously. I absolutely love this one and I can't wait to drain the bottle dry just so I can buy it again.

I'm really surprised that others have said that this has poor longevity. On me, this lasts over 12 hours with a decent amount of projection. Especially early in the day, it's a knock-out. I actually oversprayed today (three full sprays, one on each inner elbow and one on my neck). I could have done with smaller sprays. It's mostly fruity on me, I get a lot of the black currant (but sweet, not like cat-pee), and the pomegranate. A bit of woodiness. Not much sage, it's in the background but doesn't scream at you, certainly not enough for the perfume to be NAMED after it. To me, it's a more grown up She Wood by DSquared2. But whereas She Wood is a bit screechy, Granada Salvia is well blended, smooth, and sophisticated. But they're both berries and wood. I love this, honestly, it's unlike anything else in my collection now that I've used up She Wood. It fills a very nice niche for me of just smelling GOOD. Not fresh, not like anything in particular, just... Good. It's probably going to be my next "Dumb Reach"

As dtsy reviewed, this is a fruity floral perfume that's perfect for spring/summer. Pomegranate and red berry fruits during initial spray. During the middle notes, I get rose on my skin with sage. At the end it get's sweeter with some muskiness to it. I was looking for a perfume that wasn't too powdery or sweet, and this has a nice balance. *Edit*: I have been wearing this for about two months now. I'd like to add that this has an essence of soapiness which I think might come from the sage? Also, my mom commented yesterday that she smelled as if I had a self tanner on (Jergen's Natural Glow) because of that sharp/synthetic smell, but I did not have the tanner on, just the perfume. I cannot smell any wood notes, but that's just me. I think this perfume will be really nice in the spring time when the temperature is still a bit cooler with the rain, I think it might blend well nicely. I feel like the perfume doesn't last too long on me, but I always keep it in my bag to reapply.
