Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia

Y'all. I was never really "into perfume" until I became a total head-over-heels lover of Cacharel's 'Promesse'. Every perfume I'd tried before changed so dramatically on me that even though I was crazy about fragrances I had entirely given up. But then one day I hugged my best friend and she smelled like pure gorgeous giddy happiness and joy and there I discovered Promesse. Obviously I was devastated when Promesse was discontinued. The search for some kind of replacement introduced me to this entire whole-ass comprehensive, very complex, complicated, and enchanting world of fragrance. Please be gentle with me, I'm a total noob. Through reddit I found out about Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia as a replacement for Promesse, and on me it is a solid gold smash hit, definitely it. The longevity sucks on me but it lasts ages on my clothes. That only sucks because I work in assisted living healthcare and I have to wash my work clothes after every wear. When I wear this I get more compliments from my residents and coworkers than any other fragrances I've ever worn. Folks say it smells like happiness and giddiness and that's exactly what I'm going for in my work with older folks. I'm new to the genre of perfume/fragrance and I don't have the language I wish I could give for fancy fragrance reviews but I can tell you with absolute certainty that when I wear Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia every single friend, coworker, resident, sitter, and family member remarks about how happy and un-lonely this fragrance makes everybody feel, and it makes me feel like that, too, just utterly darling happiness, juicy fruity calm chill good, with gorgeous, rich, flowery fruity joy, and a sharp clean cedar-like cutting through the sweet and almost kinda underlining the fruit and flowers to keep them from getting too much. I am absolutely in love with this fragrance and so is everyone who's experienced it around me so far. My only complaint is that it doesn't last long at all, acts like a body/hair scent rather than a legit EDT. Buying the whole bottle and then the refill is the way. The original gorgeous gold bee bottle cost me $90 USD and then the refill cost the same but that refill will fill your pretty bee bottle like four times (!!!) so it's sooo absolutely 100% worth the initial investment. TL/DR: Omg it's just so darling if only it lasted longer.

love at first sniff. granada salvia smells like a fresh pink-purple lemonade being drank on a balcony with a view over a big beautiful garden full of cypresses, herbs, flowers, fountains and antique sculptures in the mediterranean. this fragrance opens up with a delicious lemon, or, rather, it smelled like a very realistic lemon peel to me. the crazy citrus lasted a few seconds until it calmed down a bit and after around five minutes the zesty citrus was fully rounded by the berry sweetness of the black currant. such a lovely fresh fruity scent, i almost devoured my wrist. after approximately thirty minutes the citruses were nearly undetectable, smelling only fresh fruity sweetness of the pomegranate and cypress. on my skin the rose and sage weren't really prominent - i'm curious how they'd perform on extra hot day - if they'd show. unfortunately, the scent kept close to skin and it was gone rather soon. maybe three hours after spraying i clearly detected the base notes, mostly the patchouli (which i loved). it is a perfect blend and the notes fit each other nicely, it's a shame the longevity and projection are fairly poor. perfect summer scent, i'll probably get a full bottle, even tho the longevity - price ratio is not ideal, but it's just so good.

Okay, I've gathered my thoughts on this one and I'm updating my review. Performance and longevity is mid. It lasts a good 3-4 hours on skin, and about 4-5 days on clothes (very mildly though). It's really unique to me, I don't think I've ever smelled anything like it. I've been wearing it off and on for the past couple of months, and I even got a full-sized bottle of it because I like it so much. I'll try to describe it the best I can, but it's really one you've just gotta smell for yourself. It's like walking into a wooded citrus grove after pinching a sprig of sage between your fingers. Like sipping an herbal pink lemonade in the park in springtime. Bergamot, lemon, pomegranate and sage are the star players here. Very herbal-fresh and fruity. This would absolutely SHINE in hot weather, and it does really well in cool weather too. In hot weather it gets a lot fruitier, but in cool weather it's more herbaceous. Try it, seriously. I absolutely love this one and I can't wait to drain the bottle dry just so I can buy it again.

I'm really surprised that others have said that this has poor longevity. On me, this lasts over 12 hours with a decent amount of projection. Especially early in the day, it's a knock-out. I actually oversprayed today (three full sprays, one on each inner elbow and one on my neck). I could have done with smaller sprays. It's mostly fruity on me, I get a lot of the black currant (but sweet, not like cat-pee), and the pomegranate. A bit of woodiness. Not much sage, it's in the background but doesn't scream at you, certainly not enough for the perfume to be NAMED after it. To me, it's a more grown up She Wood by DSquared2. But whereas She Wood is a bit screechy, Granada Salvia is well blended, smooth, and sophisticated. But they're both berries and wood. I love this, honestly, it's unlike anything else in my collection now that I've used up She Wood. It fills a very nice niche for me of just smelling GOOD. Not fresh, not like anything in particular, just... Good. It's probably going to be my next "Dumb Reach"

As dtsy reviewed, this is a fruity floral perfume that's perfect for spring/summer. Pomegranate and red berry fruits during initial spray. During the middle notes, I get rose on my skin with sage. At the end it get's sweeter with some muskiness to it. I was looking for a perfume that wasn't too powdery or sweet, and this has a nice balance. *Edit*: I have been wearing this for about two months now. I'd like to add that this has an essence of soapiness which I think might come from the sage? Also, my mom commented yesterday that she smelled as if I had a self tanner on (Jergen's Natural Glow) because of that sharp/synthetic smell, but I did not have the tanner on, just the perfume. I cannot smell any wood notes, but that's just me. I think this perfume will be really nice in the spring time when the temperature is still a bit cooler with the rain, I think it might blend well nicely. I feel like the perfume doesn't last too long on me, but I always keep it in my bag to reapply.

New addition to my wardrobe. In the spring I typically wear Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche, or Versace Bright Crystal but this year I’m giving the Aqua Allegoria line a try. Granada Salvia is my very first of the line, but also looking into getting Lys Soleia and Nerolia veviter Forte. Granada Salvia has one of the most elegant openings for an aqua. It opens with sparkling yet juicy pomegranate and a burst of bright bergamot. At the heart of the fragrance, the sage’s slightly herby presence blends well with the citrus. The musk and patchouli’s quiet presence make this a skin scent once dried down. You have to be willing to reapply, as beautiful as this is, the first application lasts only a few hours before it turns into a skin scent. If you layer a second application a couple hours later, I find this will last until the next day/next shower. Overall this beauty is summer in a bottle. It is bright, juicy and elegant.

An attention grabber indeed, which I imagine may be overly bold for some, but stay with me — this is only setting the stage for the most captivating olfactory journey. As the initial zestiness mellows, the fragrance begins to unveil its true essence: a glowing, ruby-red heart. Composed of glittering pomegranate and sparkly flecks of rose and sage, this fruity floral pumps with a sprightly patchouli. Not the heavy, earthy variety but one dynamic, almost effulgent. This middle act allows the fragrance to truly shine all the way to the end, captivating the senses with a masterful artistry typical of Guerlain's but a blend particularly unique to Granada Salvia. An opulent and well-balanced fragrance that delights the senses from start to finish.

I adore this perfume, can't wait to buy it. I don't like Guerlain perfumes because they are to womanly for me but this one is something else, the pomegranate is very juicy and sour sweet the florals are not overwhelming just the right amount to not take this perfume on the lane of too flowery. The musk stabilises this beautiful composition beautifully. as many mentioned it is good vibes perfume that will put a smile on your face every time you smell it though its silage is not strong as well as its longevity is only 3-6 hours max. I hope it did come in edp . what I also like about Granada Salvia that it fits perfectly in every weather, I tried it in 0 celsius in Gremany and it warmed my heart with its happy notes. for the summer and spring times there is no doubt it will open beautifuly with the citrus notes.

I tried all the Aqua Allegorias they had on display at Neiman Marcus earlier this year and this was the one that caught my attention! Since getting it, I've experimented layering this and others and I finally found a combination that's review worthy: Versace Eros pour Femme EDT and Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia. I work in beauty at a department store and have a habit of making my coworkers smell my wrists (often multiple times per shift lol) and this one, when worn with Eros pour femme EDT, had the best overall reception in recent memory. Every single one of my coworkers wanted to know what I was wearing. I'm begging you to try it if you have both. Run, don't walk, to wherever you keep your perfume. Try this out. Tell me you don't love it.

I really love this fragrance! It is very invigorating. I am surprised many reviews mention it is sweet, in my skin it is not sweet at all. It is like spraying some refreshing lemon sparkling water, just a little bit bitter like tonic water, but very zesty, optimal for summer time, specially when it gets hot. It lasts decently on my skin, even after a few hours i still get fresh whiffs of it. I work from home, but hubby tried it as well and it got him compliments. I really love this one, and thanks to its refreshing nature, it makes a great mixer for other fragrances, to freshen them or spice up. Will totally get another bottle.

Ohh I could see all of that “high end hair saloon” references in the every corner of fragrantica and I ve never fully agreed since I hadn’t any monolithic idea of how high end hair cosmetics smells like. Nothing changes since then in terms of my experience with hairdressers but now I can tell that this perfume smells like high end hair saloon without any doubt :D I love it Ps. Why guerlain participated in that terrible trend of simplifying aesthetics (fonts, bottles, graphic identification)? New look of the bottle is ugly as f*ck. I am happy all of my Aqua Allegorias are old versions.

I bought this today, I am shocked to see this is woody, I dont detect any wood, so im probably lucky because I dont like much wood at all. It is very lemony, thats the initial burst. I also detect something reminding of raspberry, but probably pomegranate. It have wiffs of something i detect as basil, however that might be tha sage. All this blend so nice, and I cant wait to try it in warmer weather. It settle a tiny musky/powdery but not much. Downside is it is extremely weak. Both sillage and longevity. The bottle is so incredible cute! I love it, it looks so nice :)

BEAUTIFUL fragrance. I have been looking for something that will replace my first love, Dior Addict 2, and I knew from the notes that this fragrance would be close. I blind bought a bottle of this juice. I was right, it does remind me of Dior Addict 2 a lot. The notes are juicy, bubbly, happy, while being comforting at the same time (thanks to the sage note). I smell pomegranate and citrus mainly. The only downfall is the very short longevity, as with all of the Aqua Allegoria line. (Guerlain - please make an Eau de parfum with these fragrances!)

I see many comments complain about weak sillage. However, we need fragrances like this for traveling with many people around. This EDT is one of them. Light and not cloying, special with its dominant black currant and sage (herby-aromatic to a degree) notes, a perfect refresher for a day of travel. Beautiful light but not evaporating within half an hour. This will last couple of hours maybe up to four on skin and longer on clothes. This is my pick for traveling undoubtedly. Has an alluring trail. Absolutely love. 💕

The first spray is magical. Fresh yet sweet, like a sip of pink lemonade. After 5 minutes it settles into something greener and less tart, might be the pomegranate and sage coming through. After half an hour it absorbed and I could only smell it by sniffing my wrists directly. It got a more masculine tone once it dried, yet remained fresh. After two hours it was completely gone. They took the Aqua part too literally, it runs fast like water, doesn’t cling at all.

i love the aqua allegoria line so i’m biased, but i’m absolutely in love with this fragrance. it’s a great choice for summer. for me, the most pronounced note is black currant, as the perfume opens with a strong berry smell, so i definitely see what the posters with the comments about the raspberry smell mean a con is the performance, which is not the best - i feel like this holds true for most of the aqua allegorias i have (none of them are forte tbh)

Gorgeous scent, has the Guerlain luxurious complex DNA and very well blended. Opening was a sharp fresh pomegranate, reminded me of high end hotel cleaning solution. I get more sage in the dry down, very similar Jo Malone sage and sea salt, but without the salty note and with the pomegranate and green freshness in the background. Much prefer this to Jo Malone, but longevity is somewhat similar. Longevity and sillage can be better

Best fruity floral fragrance 4 me. Without any soap vibes. I already have 2 125 ml backups 🤪 & I can’t stop. It has a little bit of freshness sweetness. I adore it and I don’t know any available clones... Lanvin Jeanne has an annoying flowery base notes. Dior addict 2 gives me shampoo vibe... So. If you searching for the best pomegranate fresh scent Granada salvia will be a good option. This is my everyday safe - scent))))

This is LOVE at first sniff, and second and third...Starts green, fresh, squeaky fresh, somewhat of a green tea vibe almost, but definitely tartness from the sage, then little by little it morphs into a juicy fruit, almost fruity bubblegum (the blackcurrant and pomegranate notes) type of scent, but not at all in the slightest artificially sweet, no! Good lasting power of 5+ hours on skin. Such a happy juicy scent, so good!

@fragrance2016: "granada salvia" means "pomegranate sage" in Spanish. "Sage" in French is "sauge". Also Granada is a province in Spain with its Capital city equally named Granada, so it's not just an area. Just wanted to clear that up :) looking forward to trying this fragrance as pomegranate always seems to agree with my skin!

This is a fruity floral with a dry cedar/sage drydown that is incredibly smooth and elegant. Super feminine and pretty, I also think it smells like expensive make up. I might need to buy a second bottle. This is the kind of jovial/elegant soft scent that I love to wear to work. A little bit sparkling AA that I enjoy a lot.

Excuse me?! This is stunning!! But only tested on paper, need to try on skin as well. It reminds me of something I've smelled before and looking now on fragrances it's compared to, I think it might be Gucci II. I loved that one.. too bad it's discontinued.

Such a lovely summer fragrance. Delightfully fruity and fresh! A joy to spray liberally on a summer day! I enjoy immensely this whole range - the blackcurrant note in particular makea me very happy!

Juicy and mouth-watering red berries, crisp and sticky at the same time, surprisingly projecting like crazy. Longevity is average for EdT, but lasts better than most of the other Allegorias.

This performs worse than an eau de cologne, literally gone in 15 minutes, so heartbreaking and disappointing because the scent itself is gorgeous.

Granada Salvia opens with one of the most joyful bursts of freshness I’ve experienced in a citrus fragrance. The moment I spray it, the first thought that comes to mind is pink lemonade. It is bright, sparkling, and slightly tart. The pomegranate note gives the citrus a rosy sweetness, while the lemon and mandarin add that refreshing, thirst-quenching sharpness. It smells like a tall glass of a cold sparkling lemonade on a hot day. There’s something very uplifting about it. The fragrance feels clean, cheerful, and effortlessly pretty. As it settles, the sage adds a gentle green touch that keeps the sweetness from becoming too sugary. The result is a scent that feels airy and elegant rather than loud or sticky. It’s the kind of fragrance that works beautifully in warm weather. It is perfect for daytime wear, brunch, or walking outside on a sunny afternoon. But unfortunately, Granada Salvia has one major flaw: its performance. For such a beautiful opening, it disappears far too quickly. The sillage is very poor, and the longevity is surprisingly short. Within what feels like an instant, that gorgeous pink lemonade sparkle fades into a whisper. It is heartbreaking because the scent itself is so lovely. Because of this, I find that it works best layered with other fragrances that share similar citrus or fruity notes. When paired with something stronger, Granada Salvia can add a beautiful sparkling top layer. But on its own, it struggles to last long enough to truly enjoy. As it stands, it’s a gorgeous scent that simply vanishes too soon, like the last sip of pink lemonade on a hot afternoon.

Granada Salvia is essentially a fruity-floral fragrance, albeit it a very well-made one: it manages to perfectly strike that crucial balance between tart and sweet that makes all the difference for this kind of scent, which means it doesn't smell juvenile or cheap at all. The tart aspect in this case comes mostly from a very nicely done pomegranate note, which is a great addition to the bergamot and cassis notes, the usual suspects when it comes to creating this kind of effect. The mellow herbal background sets it apart as well, and to my nose the sage does indeed the biggest role in that, as the name suggests. As expected from a summer cologne, it doesn't last very long, although it does project rather well initially. I like it, but not very enthusiastically, as you can tell from this lukewarm review. I'm not surprised it seems to have gotten way less attention so far than Orange Soleia, which is definitely my favourite of this year's two new entries to the Aqua Allegoria line. But that might just be because this one isn't 100% my genre (anymore); I don't think my little decant will get much use now that I'm finished testing. I'm looking forward to next year's Aqua Allegorias, though, it's amazing that they can keep coming up with new concepts to fit the line, and I haven't actively disliked any of them yet!

A strong berry scent - gives me raspberry (i guess that's the combo of the pomegranate, Blackcurrant & citrus???) then I get a strong herbaceous smell (Cypress) as well which stops it being a young one dimensional fragrance and adds some complexity. Staying power isn't more than about 2 hrs - So i use it as a layering fragrance, giving myself a burst of freshness in the morning which is gone by lunch time. Thank goodness I bought this on sale as its longevity is not good considering the big price tag. I Love the bottles in this range STUNNING (I blind bought 3 of them, Flora Salvaggia & Orange Soleia based on the bottles and the hype this range gets) - but ultimately they are just a bougie more grown up version of an Impulse body spray. If you have the money spend it and you will enjoy the youthful yet sophisticated vibrance of this range - if you dont I say invest in a more complex and long lasting basic designer EDP. Unfortunately I had high expectations from Guerlain and thought it would have better staying power. I dont regret this purchase, its nice and i like it for what it is. Its and EDT and it performs like any other EDT.

Aqua Allegoria Granada Salvia is one of the Aqua Allegoria range which leans more feminine but could be worn by a confident man. The projection is moderate for about three hours before it starts to fade and it lasts for a little over seven hours if you keep out of the sunshine. The opening combines blackcurrant with a lovely lemon and bergamot mixture, some pomegranate and a touch of rose. Immediately, you realise it's a typical AA - one for daytime in the spring and summer. Some 40 minutes in the balance has changed a little with the arrival of some patchouli and a hint of sage giving it a minty, green element while the trio of blackcurrant, lemon and bergamot are less prominent. As you pass the hour mark, you get the same notes but you also get a hint of soapiness. It remains fairly linear after this point although you get a little of the moss and musk later once the top notes have mostly faded away. It's pleasant enough but I'd far rather have Herba Fresca or Mandarine Basilic from the Aqua Allegoria line.

So I mainly wanted to write this review for people who miss their Gucci II. GS is not as complex but will give you that GII vibe. I had GII back when it was first launched and loved it. Like so many greats that are loved and develop a cult following it was axed. So here we are looking for the memory of her. GS lacks the more grown up elements that GII had and therefore is a playful scent. This is fruity. I get fizzy raspberry lemonade and you can smell the black currant. It is a happy, fun and easy scent. I will enjoy it when the weather warms again. It lasts just fine on clothing from the little testing I've done. I was able to buy a 75mL bottle for about $45 which is very resonable IMO. GS is not GII but for those of us who miss GII, GS is enough to rekindle and sate her memory.

The opening really is the best part of Granada Salvia. So sparkling and fruity, but not overly sweet. It really smells like pomegranate with its characteristic tart and bitter facets. The sage is rather subdued, blink and you miss it. After about an hour or two the scent turns a little warmer and sweeter and I can also smell black currants. But then, unfortunately, it turns into a vaguely fruity, vaguely musky skin scent that is pleasant enough, but a bit shampoo-ish and completely unremarkable. I still like it, but it turns into this generic freshie base way too fast to be a true love. This is best for those who keep a whole bottle of perfume in their purse to respray several times a day.

I love the notes. Black currant, pomegranate, sage, cypress and moss: very convincing and nature-like. In these, Granada Salvia is promising and autentical. But then the combination of rose and musk... Turns this artificial fragrance into floral and mass-likable. With the citruses it is not vague but I sense conflict between herbal and fresh. Like my skin couldn't decide what to project... For me it is very interesting, pleasant and sunny perfume. Definitely high-quality. Nonetheless, I will not consider it as the top.

Dunno why but I see it as a winter scent.The pomegranate note is amazing and my fav here,the opening is fruity but not summer fruity more neutral than sweet.After it it changes to mostly cypress-sage note which reminds me about fresh winter air in the morning and then the moss note kicks in like a hint if upcoming spring. It's very different from the rest aquas I've tried and I really like it but it fades away way toooo quick.And someone here said Aquas feel like the moodboards and I can kinda agree with it.

This fragrance is sweet and soft, yet juicy from the fruity notes. I don’t really smell the sage or woody notes, but maybe I need to try it out a few more times. I do smell fruity bubblegum and gentle musk notes. A light and sweet skin scent to wear in hot weather. The bottle is fit for royalty - very princessy. I’m really enjoying all of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria perfumes that I have tried so far. They’re all refreshing, pretty, and so wearable.

Cute, clean and fresh (but not overly, at least not in cleaning supplies department) fruity floral. Quite citrusey and I definitely can feel currants probably along with pomegranate. You need to overspray and even then it will not be in your face, not that it was the intention to make it a beast. But overall, it is nice and beautiful, not pretentious summery scent which you can put on, feel happy and magical, without it being too generic or common.

Sagey, spicy and very lemony cloud dancing around a heart of pomegranate and rose. On my clothes it smells mostly like lemon and sage, on my skin the berries shine through. I got this at a discount so it was a blind buy for me, I think it is super safe. This is on the more masculine side of the female perfume spectrum so in my opinion, I think a guy could wear this. Overall its not an offensive perfume, its fresh and summery and pretty unique.

A bit overpowering at first, but dries down to a crispy berry scent. Makes me think of red berries for some reason - cranberries, lingonberries, raspberries... I can't imagine wearing this in summer, to me this is definitely a winter scent. Longevity is quite weak for the price and the sage note is definitely not for everyone, took some getting used to but i learned to not mind it too much. Boyfriend said it makes me smell expensive.

I like it. It's a welcome departure from the older Aqua Allegorias, which never seemed to sit well with me. Thematically, it is closer to the Petite Robe Noire series; a young and sexy fragrance topped with fruit. But this is a sun drenched Mediterranean fruit, not as quirky as almon; rather, quite sensual. Will I own it? My collection, it appears, will outlive me. Let me try it a few more times

Red fruit notes usually smell like hair spray on me...but the pomegranate in this is realistic, tart and juicy. The aromatics give a background of dry but sweet late summer grasses. It’s very light and becomes a skin scent for me after about an hour. For the price the performance is fair~. Love it! Very excited to finally have a fruity fragrance I can wear!

This smells like the summer version of Lalique Amethyst with strong currant opening, drying down to something lighter and more refreshing than Amethyst but in the same vane. Both give off a black licorice vibe to me. Nice for summer but I like others in the Aqua Allegoria line more. For those die hard fans of Amethyst I'd say this is your summer scent!

can hardly smell it unless i am actively deeply inhaling my wrist but its such a comforting gentle fragrance. it somehow smells like the heat on a load of laundry when you pull it out of the dryer (not dryer sheets or detergent but the warmth itself) and reminds me of a really kind country club mom. weirdly specific but thats what comes to mind haha

I own a full bottle of Orange Soleia, and I've tried Herba Fresca and Mandarine Basilic. This one is juicy, tart, and sweet. As with all in this line, it's a fleeting scent but will last longer if sprayed on fabric. I would definitely consider a full bottle of this one, as the opening just makes me happy, and the bee bottles are gorgeous.

This fragrance smells like a high-end hair salon. It is light, fresh, and uncomplicated without being boring. I would love my shampoo to smell like this and I basically use it as hair perfume. That said, I don’t think I will repurchase a full size (I have a deluxe sample) as it really has no lasting power.

i bought this for my mum and it smells lovely both on paper and on her, fruity but in a green way. on my skin though it smells less fruity and much more leafy, mossy (is it the patchouli?), with an underlying bitterness—it made me think of herbal traditional chinese medicine.
