Aqua Allegoria Passiflora

Passiflora has the tropical vibe I enjoy. It is uplifting and light. A great middle of the day pick me up for warm weather. Upon first spritz I got a lot of Passion fruit and Citrus. I grew up in Hawai'i and we have Passion fruit everywhere up in the valleys of Kahalu'u and Waiahole. It immediately takes me back there. The smell of my childhood home. Right away I knew I was going to love this one this Summer in the insane heat of Florida. This juice is not too sweet but crisp and clean. As it developed, I got mostly Grapefruit after about half an hour. Although I still smelled the Passion fruit and other Citrus. However, Grapefruit is most dominant. Not too long after I picked up the Water note which is also light. At this point I decided to go outside to let this note develop further which intensified in the humidity. It adds an interesting dimension. In the AC it was different. It had been stifled for lack of a better word. The floral I smelled the most was Orange Blossom that is just lovely. I did detect the woody nuances of the Ylang-ylang too. The Green note, Musk and Aldehydes are minimal facets here. I did pick up on the Aldehydes in the drydown when I was in the humidity. Very interesting and just beautiful. This is a very refreshing take on Passion fruit as it is not cloying or overly sweet. I did find this one is a better performer when you are wearing it outside. I had a feeling it would be. It reminds me of Bvlgari Paraiba which does the same thing on me. There is no cocoa or passionflower here but they are of the same vein in my opinion. Sillage is huge at first and then it abates to become within arms length. I would say it is amplified in the heat. Perfect for Summer vacations. The longevity on me was about four hours but that is okay because I love re-spritzing. The AAs are basically luxury body sprays. That is what one must consider when delving into the world of these little bee hive bottle gems. I would say that a blind buy would be safe as long as you know you are not getting something really sweet or a strong tropical floral. This is realistic tropical fruit citrus and it is refreshingly tasteful. One which I enjoyed while being mainly outdoors. I am so happy to add this to my collection.

Uplifting SPARKLING Passionfruit-Orange... Opens with a burst of sparkling orange-citrus with grapefruit nuances, that deepens into a passionfruit heart with watery, green, clean, tropical and mineral nuances, all resting on a white musk base. Aldehydes here lend a sparkling facet. This was a love at first sniff for me. Well above average performance after spraying and storing, especially for a fresh fruity-floral. Overall: beautiful passionfruit scent profile, this is the perfect scent to wear for feeling effervescent. It's a love for me. 10/10 for a fruity scent. Enjoy! Contrast to Orange de Bahia Boucheron: These are different, but there's a similar vibe of sparkling citrus freshie. Orange de Bahia leans more sparkling orange, while Aqua Allegoria Passiflora leans more sparkling tropical. Performance is roughly equivalent. Update 04/13/24: I'm really enjoying wearing this lately. I was reminded of it the other day when making a punch from a few fruit juices (guava, litchi & orange) and sparkling water. I've been wearing it every day since for the past few days. So refreshing. Sprayed it last night (one spray) and can still smell it this morning up close. Love, love, love. Update 07/28/24: Sprayed this on my hand this morning, and it's really shining in the heat. Effervescent, refreshing, aquatic, sweet passionfruit. So good, and it's gotten a little sweeter. This is my favourite passionfruit scent, bar none. Still a love.

imagine biting into a freezing cold passionfruit or grapefruit on a hot sunny day. or lounging by the pool in bali while sipping an icy cool tropical punch. That is the experience when you first spray it. Refreshing, juicy, tropical, exotic, fruity. But! On me, very quickly it dissipated into a lemony aldehydic mess. It smelled like lemon toilet freshener! it reminded me of those body shop cheap scents, in passionfruit or pink grapefruit with more complexity. But the rapid and disappointing drydown absolutely reminded me of those cheaper scents. However many of you will be pleased to know there is no hint of soapiness. It would suit a young woman age 18 - 30ish who wants a refreshing fruity scent for daytime or holiday wear. But not so good for wearing in the office or to business meetings or for a mature woman who wants to be taken seriously. It's a playful fun scent, not a sexy one. Top notes - passionfruit, exotic citrus, bergamot, hint of aquatic Middle notes: white floral, lemon Base notes:Aldehydes (strong, ugh)

I love anything grapefruit-y , this is a perfect pomelo scent. As a matter of fact the opening is very similar to Atelier Cologne Pomelo. I am very familiar with passion fruit , the fruit, flesh, seeds, flowers, etc ( as I have been to South America many times ). There is no passion fruit here, or anything related to it. But the scent has a pleasant tropical feeling, it’s citrusy yet soft, no sharpness or sourness, and as a fan of the Allegoria line , I love it. the citrus changes eventually into a non descriptive floral clean scent. However, knowing that many people criticize the Allegoria concept as weak and not Guerlainish enough , I can easily see those people giving this thumbs down , as yet another common, light, and not unique scent. For me it’s perfect for summer and a very nice release.Not a must have but lovely.

I really enjoy this one. There's a burst of fruity passionfruit upfront with strong florals underneath. It develops over a few hours, with a soft but deliberate Guerlain DNA underneath. Six hours later, I can still detect it on my skin. There's a bitter note, grapefruit? It's almost like an expensive hotel smell, but a skin scent. No one is going to smell this on you from 2-metres away unless you dose yourself in it and only then, within the first 45 mins or so. I find the scent more pleasant after an hour or two. Probably, not a perfume to layer with others but, perfectly acceptable as a light fragrance during the Summer or after a shower (that's how I use it). I've found where I apply this makes a huge difference. Applied on my wrist, I don't get to appreciate the base notes. Applied under my clothes, it's beautiful.

The opening of Passiflora is dominated by grapefruit. I do pick up passionfruit but it’s a distant second note. Then all the other citrus notes make the opening feel fresh, and more notably, unsweetened. Drydown still maintains the tart citrus notes, but now they are combined with soft, clean floral notes. This is perfect for warm weather, and interesting in that it has zero sweetness. I think this is why Passiflora is polarizing, just read a few reviews below. It’s not a tropical scent even though passionfruit and Ylang Ylang is in the composition. I like the tart green, mouth puckering opening and the drydown. I think this is a wonderful summer scent.

Hello from Deco Dawn. I absolutely love this new fragrance. I received a Free sample from House of Frazer Bournemouth yesterday. On first spray i am delighted, It really does lift the spirits and transports you to hot sunny climes. Fresh citrus, aquatic and sporty. Does not last long so, Very much a Spritzer and regular sprays required throughout the day. Reminds me very much of Clarins eau des Jardines price £36.00 in all major department stores in uk and on ebay and amazon for a lot less. Lovely perfect purchase for your holidays although £52 is imho very expensive for a fragrance that does not have much staying power but its still aThumbs up from me.

I've been reading reviews here and other websites after I had bought Passiflora to see what other people think of this scent because I liked it. And now I'm confused. Many say it's got lemony/zesty note but on my skin and to my nose it's a watery ylang-ylang all the way. A spark of orange blossom at first but it disappears quickly. Doesn't get sour on me but it gets slightly bitter. A bit meh though, it soothes me and makes me relax. It's really light and doesn't have much longevity, more of a body spray for me. I like to wear it before going to bed.

At first I wasn’t sure about this one as the citrus scents are not my cup of tea-and it starts with the juiciest and tangiest blast of lemon, bright green petitgrain and slightly bitter and exotic passionfruit. Anyway after about 4 hours there comes the magic...the drydown is one of the most beautiful scents I have ever smelled. It’s simple, just the softest musks wrapped in honeyed ylang petals and candied lemon peel and in this phase I just can’t stop sniffing my wrist.

looking to buy this if anyone in canada is selling their bottle!:,) this is my absolute favourite easy reach in the summer. juicy passionfruit and tart grapefruit sprinkled with sugar. not very long lasting as you might expect but some of the tangy juiciness does hang around on the drydown and it mixes beautifully with the fresh, slightly tropical florals. it keeps a fresh - albeit thin - veil floating around you and it makes me feel so pretty even on the hottest days.

A very welcome fresh scent after all those sickly sweet fragrances recently launched by many brands. This is like you're thirsty and someone gives you a freshly pressed lemonade with citrus fruits including grapefruit and plenty of passion fruit on the rocks. Yum. Stays with you a comfortable while, too. Quality is much better overall than the Rosa Pop, Fizz, Flora saga. Pamplelune is too sour/bitter (harsh) for me, this one is much more balanced. I like it.

Fresh, but not your typical green citrus blend. It opens with juicy lemon, followed immediately by sharp, bitter grapefruit, with just a hint of passionfruit underneath, making it sweet, juicy and delicious. I get little else, but I’m not complaining. It’s a shame this will be impossible to find.

This is the ultimate juicy, fresh citrus fragrance for me. It was love at first sniff! When I first spray it I get the sense of peeling an orange or a tangelo and getting a spray of the rind juice. It settles into a citrus, fruity, fresh floral. So summery!

Very similar to So Real Cheap & Chic by Moschino. "Mandarin-floral". mandarin orange + passionfruit (fermented wine-y fruity note) + orange flower or five o'clock flower.

Oh, I just LOVE this perfume! It's zesty, fresh, uplifting, juicy and sensual. Perfect balance of passionfruit, citrus and hint of sweetness. My no 1 summer fragrance!

It smells perfume pashionfruit nearly like in fragrances by Escada. Not bad for summer as tropical fragrance.

Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Passiflora is a perfume of two halves. First there is a citrus / fruity opening half and then there is a second floral half. It opens with a burst of citrus and fruit: orange, lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, green notes, passionfruit, an aldehydic fizz and water notes present themselves in the opening. It's unisex but leans distinctly feminine. The sillage is moderate to strong in the opening and for the first hour. It's a tropical fruity scent. About ten minutes in, the ylang ylang begins to come through. Broadly speaking, this combination is how the perfume smells for the first two hours. Around two hours in the perfume changes. A set of floral notes breaks through and the green notes take on a stronger role. Most of the citrus/tropical/fruit notes are still there but they are very much in the background. Three hours in and the perfume is a floral one as the citrus and tropical notes have mostly faded away. Five hours in and the perfume is fading quite notably. It's just about gone somewhere between and six and seven hours in. Passiflora has been discontinued for spring 2021 but there is always the possibility of it returning, like several other Aqua Allegorias have in the past. I'll be looking to grab a bottle of it on the cheap as stores seek to get rid of discontinued stock in order to make room for newer offerings. It's a gentle 'like' from me for this one.

I had such high hopes for this. We are still months away from passionfruit season, but as it’s one of my favorite fruits, I was hoping a good passionfruit fragrance would hit the spot. While this is pleasant, I don’t really get passionfruit from this at all. If you’re familiar with cutting open a fresh passionfruit, you know that the scent is quite strong. It’s also very distinct. My guess is that the people who say they smell passionfruit are basing it on other fragrances with a passionfruit note they’ve tried, or perhaps even passionfruit flavored food products, but fresh passionfruit does not smell like this. Based on the name, one could argue that this is supposed to smell like actual passiflora, but it doesn’t smell like that either. I feel like this is a good example of why perfumers should stick to what they know. As someone who lives surrounded by passionfruit, pomelo, mango, coconut trees etc., I find that most perfumers who create fragrances with these notes in mind don’t seem familiar with what these fruit and their flowers actually smell like in person. It’s as if they go in intending to create a fantasy note of something “exotic,” instead of immersing themselves in the true olfactory experience these fruit have to offer.

Adding to my Aqua Allegoria collection. This is a crisp passionfruit. Not fruity like Escada summer scents (which I do generally like) but a crisp, not so sweet passion fruit. The opening has an odd toothpastey like note, which I am not fond of (don’t know what this is specifically, perhaps what is listed as watery notes?) but which does give it structure and serves to keep the sweetness down. Luckily after a while, say an hour or so, it tones down. Mostly passionfruit with a bit of sweet citrusy flavours and bit of aldehydes. Its OK, not my favourite. Waiting for a really hot day to see how this develops.

This is a nice, non-offensive, citrusy and easy-to-wear fragrance for the timespan of three summer(ish) seasons. It's too light and airy for winter, at least for myself, which requires more "oomph" in order to match the harsh weather conditions. I live in an area where we do get piles of snow on the ground each year. Passiflora suits best the first lovely weeks of spring when you finally get to shed thick clothing and opt for summery attire instead. It's a perfect kick-off fragrance for the sunny season I reckon.

Agree with Nancy83 and would like to suggest she try Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic since it is one of the best in the AA line. It's fresher, greener, spicier, and has the sandalwood bottom layer which works so well in Guerlain fragrances. Passiflora is a bit too sweet for my taste, but it has its moments. I will definitely wear it; it has presence. The difference between the two is that once my Mandarine Basilic runs out, I will run to replace it from Fragrancenet.com, not so with my Passiflora.

A little bit too sweet and not long-lasting. The sweetness of the Passiflora needs to be toned down with something sharper. It's a nice after-shower EDT, but won't last more than 1.5 hours. Definitely a pass for me. Advice to the newbie: go with the with the Mandarine Basilic if possible. I'm sure Passiflora will be phased out. I see for 2020 they are introducing Orange Soleia with blood orange, pink pepper, petitgrain, tonka beans, and mint. That one sounds like a winner to me.

Very grapefruit forward. For me it overpowers everything else. I don’t get passion fruit at all. It’s my favorite fruit, I buy everything I ever see that is passion fruit flavor so I know the fruit and the synthetic very well. The mid layer has some orange blossom. I don’t need another citrus fragrance in my collection so I’ll skip the FB. But if you’re looking to get started this is a good one for grapefruit lovers

This is out where I live. It has tropical and sweet top notes and very fresh watery base notes. Top notes were really nice. Base notes are bothering me a little bit, because, it smells masculine in base notes. It has that Aqua Allergoria special feeling to it. Not bad, but not my favorite Aqua Allegoria either.

The top notes were wonderfully juicy and tropical! I was surprised to see passionfruit was a middle note because I thought I smelled it in the beginning. However, the top notes were so great, I wish they could have continued. I don't remember the middle, but AAP faded to an ordinary base note of musk.

On me a very fresh mix of Grapefruit, green notes, musk and an airy wiff of Passionfruit and Mandarin Orange. Not sugarsweet or surypsweet but with the Mandarin and Passionfruit I get an airy sweet note as well. A really nice scent for sunny days, I think.

Nice smell in the bottle and on my mum, but doesn’t work well with my skin chemistry unfortunately. The citrus notes are completely absent on me. Low sillage and longevity like most of the other Aqua Allegoria I’ve sampled too.

This is being discontinued this spring. Two new AAs are being released, and Rosa Rossa and Passiflora are being discontinued A shame In my opinion - I really loved the floral yet zesty and summery Passiflora.

Great top notes, but later it is really sour, lemon & grapefruit, untamed and bold. Heavy stillage and long lasting for a citrus scent.

Lemony, zesty passionfruit, not too sweet. I really like it, and just for it's sour fruitines.

This fragrance is good but not for man. This is too female.

Another year, another impulsive, almost blind Aqua Allegoria purchase that I end up regretting. I really have to learn my lesson here, so note to self: it's not because there's two or three Aqua Allegorias among my very favourite perfumes that all of them are great and/or work for me, so proceed with more caution and at least get a sample next year, however enticing the note pyramid looks, and however much I like the opening after a quick test in the store.... As for the scent itself: it's not bad, really, and like I said I do like the opening, which is indeed a little reminiscent of Atelier Cologne's Pomelo Paradis. Like others have mentioned, I unfortunately get no passion fruit at all, but what is there is pretty nice: pure sweetened grapefruit, powdery in quite a cold way. I'm not exactly falling in love with it at this point, but I like it well enough - it's like Pomelo Paradis and Pamplelune had a baby, and it turned out fine althouhg not as great as could be hoped. And then the faintly spicy aquatic accord comes in, and it rather ruins the fragrance for me. Both aspects of Passiflora go well together, it's not weird or anything, but the musky aquatic side of it just really isn't my thing at all. So I guess I'll have to add another Aqua Allegoria to this year's swap list - who knows, maybe I've learned my lesson this time...

I was looking up passion fruit fragrances and really wanted to try this one out. I obsessed over it for a day watching youtube reviews and considered blind buying it. I remember spraying one from this range 13 years ago and it was a fresh grapefruit scent but nothing exciting at the time. Now a fresh passion fruit would be awesome to layer with a couple of other fragrances such as Light Blue Intense.... What a crazy coincidence, but I found a tester in my huge mixed bag of fragrance testers so I was delighted to put in on my arm this morning. The passionfruit is crisp, dry and fresh, but not strong enough and basically a skin scent from the beginning, it wouldn't shine through at all if layered with something like Light Blue Intense.

Overall bitter orangey, the opening smells like a peeled orange with sweet fruits in the background. It's fresh, green, watery. The sillage starts moderate, then 2-3 hours later the smell is very faint. I can still get random sniffs after 5-6 hours, but I would say the performance of this perfume is poor. Since I prefer something sweeter and less citrusy for nighttime I would not reapply it, but rather wear a complementary sweet for the night (like Dior Poison Girl EDT, Prada Candy Night). I love orangey smell, I found Passiflora more interesting than the tropical citrusy Pera Granita, I will finish the sample easily, but I personally prefer the watery coconutty Coconut Fizz if I have to choose one from the Aqua Allegoria line.

For me this fragrance is dominated by floral scents. The citrus notes take a backseat and the passionfruit/floral smells are center stage. Over time the smell of grapefruit will phase in but the floral smell definitely remains strong throughout. This has stronger staying power than most other AA fragrances. Decent sillage as well. This is definitely not a unisex scent, it's much too floral for men.

Very bright citrus with some watery notes in the background. Its very close to Pampelune so you probably don't need both. A little synthetic in the opening but refreshing on a really hot day. Good longevity but not my favorite from Guerlain.

This one was a pleasant surprise. Its fruity and floral altoghether, yet aquatic in the drydown. Its fresh and makes one in a good mood. I could easily imagine this one as a part of my Collection, but I am downsizing at the moment.

I love the opening notes if this perfume. Sweet and light with a bit of zing. On my skin it dries down to smell quite soapy, which isn't bad, but not really what I'm after in a perfume. Kind of wish I hadn't bought a full bottle.

I was excited to try this as it was still in stock at my local store. People talk about passionfruit, but I don't smell any of it in this, you know that sour, fresh, fruity, exotic smell when you cut open a passionfruit. That's what I was after. Instead I do smell something like passionflower, which is a completely different scent but that one is there. Which in retrospect makes total sense, as I think the name of the perfume suggests passionflower and not passionfruit... anyway. I love the smell of a blooming passionflower, but here it's unfortunately a weird, rounded and watered down version of it, hardly pleasant for me yet tolerable. However, after 1,5 hrs on my skin the passionflower has started to fade, only to be replaced with a faint, yet foul public toilet air ambiance... yikes. I don't understand the comparison with Pamplelune, they are nothing alike.

I have to say this one is my least favorite from Aqua Allegoria. It opens with a very nice citrus and a hint of bitterness. Very realistic depiction of a freshly peeled orange. But then it dies down to a monotone bitter floral. I don’t know which note makes it so bitter, but I’m guessing it’s the ylang. I don’t get one hint of green or freshness anymore at this point. The whole thing smells like a cheap fruity cocktail with synthetic fruit flavors and the bitterness from the alcohol. Despite being listed as a main note, I don’t get any passion fruit from beginning to finish. To me it does not encompass the tangy, tropical, vibrant vibe of the fruit at all. For a sweet citrus scent, I much prefer Mandarine Basilic.

31. March 2018 At very first it is really pleasant: zesty and refreshing but just after few minutes it is becoming annoying. Acuatic passionfruit with too much sour lemon is not what i qoukd like to smell like. You know, passionfruit in some perfumes tends to become sour and if there is lemon inculded then it is not nice. I was really really annoyed by this perfume in the end. For hot summer it might be good but still for the climate i live in it is not very nice.

I love my passionfruit... however, this is NOT it. Yes, there's a lot of citrus, but nothing like the unique (sweet and tropical) scent of passionfruit. It's not a striaght-forward citrus... there's a bitter twisting undertone that reminds me of bug spray.

A very synthetic and sharp bitter fresh smell, going straight to my nose every time I sniff it... Very eww for a perfume from Geurlain

I'm so disappointed. Like an Escada scent, fermented fruits, aquatic undertones.

I really wanted to love this as I'm a big fan of fresh, fruity fragrances, but the drydown on my skin was simply awful, like some kind of cleaning product. A much better and more affordable version of this is Fleur de la Passion by Fragonard, if you can still get it. Same vibes minus the odd drydown. 2/10

I personally love Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria collection, I find them fresh, simple fragrances but with a super natural and pleasant aroma. Aqua Allegoria Passiflora is the last to join my perfume collection. It's a very relaxing perfume, one of those that you put on when you want to escape and leave the world, of those that transport you to a field where you are surrounded by trees whose fruits are citrus fruits such as grapefruit, lemon and bergamot. But what most catches your attention is the vine that contains a fruit called passion fruit, which has a sweet and delicious aroma, one of those that makes your mouth water. This is what this Aqua Allegoria Passiflora smells like. It has a very wide sillage to be a mostly citrus eau de toilette and a moderate longevity. I use it many nights after the shower now in summer and it leaves you very relaxed.

Sprayed it on for a trip to the Sunday farmer's market. It's super innocent, sweet, non offensive, fruity, floral. I am not feeling the passion fruit or tart citrus. I'm unimpressed, but not surprised. I know to set my expectations with this line which has sadly proven itself to be a letdown (both on intensity, and longevity, but mostly quality of notes) several times already. There's a time and a place for these types of scents, lazy summer mornings when you're not going anywhere in particular, you know the smell will not offend or be too much, and guaranteed to disappear before you get tired of it in the heat, or you know you'll be heading to the shower soon / going out and using a proper one later. But you can get amazing ones like that for 10-15£. Probably even ones that smell of passion fruit.

This is one of the most incredible and natural Aqua Allegoria I've smelled, I loved it at first, I made an impulsive purchase and bought a bottle at the same time. I couldn't be more satisfied. The first thing you notice when pressing the spray is a sweet orange scent, the grapefruit is also very intense, as is the orange blossom. It's so, so natural that you feel you have all the ingredients right in front of your nose. It has an EXCELLENT sillage, it is quite appreciated without being invasive. Very happy with my purchase. Totally unisex. I am a man and I am enjoying it a lot.

i got a travel spray of this one in the mail a few days ago. i tend to try to let new perfumes sit a few days, so i didn’t spray it for the first time until today. on first spray, it smells exactly(!!) like lemon pledge (the furniture cleaner). it’s sharp, tart, crisp, screechy, chemical, and nearly pucker-inducing. within 15-20 minutes, the opening toned down and i got more of the airy/watery notes. overall, it’s not bad i guess. it’s just not my style and wouldn’t be something i reached for or looked forward to wearing.

This is absolutely incredible! This is citrusy and floral in the best way! The passion fruit is front and center along with the grapefruit! PERFECT for summer ! The longevity is average but honestly this smells so good I don't mind reapplying . I feel like I'm walking through vines of grapefruits , lemons and passion fruit !summery , refreshing and fun!
