Champs-Élysées Eau de Parfum

Scrolling down the reviews and I don't really understand some unpleasant reactions. I thought it was lovely. Clean, beautiful, airy, romantic even. the opening was a nice fresh green fougere'd rose. I personally never seen that done with rose before. Especially in a female fragrance. Very creative. It still retains a slight soapiness but leaning more sweet floral powdery thru out the mid. I personally never get the ''cat piss'' association with currant leaf. to me it always gives this bold green bitter aromatic. there isn't even that much of it in here. but if you're one of those people that get ''cat piss''... idk too bad... Moving on... it's just so beautiful to me. i honestly don't think it is very ''old lady like''. far fetched even. but i envision the most beautiful flight attended wearing this. you watch her but the situation just doesn't allow to easily approach her personally. you just lock eyes and a smile and that's it. catching her scent trail as she walks back n forth the lane. a fleeting encounter. the further it dries i get an obvious floral musky hibiscus with support of vanillic touches and woody undertones. the almond tree i could've only picked up from scent memory. it reminds me of the green husk of unripe almonds. it's right there with the hibiscus. first time i actually smelled that type of almond note in a fragrance. it gives a lot of lift. lasts long projects nicely. like i said i fell in love with this scent. it's a smell you just fall in love with. i'd genuinely be in a temporary crush paralysis. seeing her walk past leaving just the intoxicating scent cloud in her wake. it's not girly its not old it just smells like a woman in her lane. she got her life figured out. beautiful, elegant and sophisticated.

I love this so so much. My husband bought me a bottle for my birthday, and I can already tell that it will be my easy spring/summer reach: honeyed florals, powdery mimosa, an intoxicating lilac (buddleia, but who's counting?) spiked with a touch of cassis and an indefinable nutty-woody accord that I guess must come from the "almond tree." It's quite green for a floral, which makes me think of daffodils, even though they aren't listed as a note. I get that Champs-Elysées isn't the most distinctive or provocative perfume, but I would rather make a statement with my mouth and let my perfume hover agreeably over my obnoxious pronouncements. I'll leave the "human secretion" scents to those brave souls willing to reek for art: Reek on, you crazy diamonds! I'll be huffing mimosa blossoms in the corner, murmuring, "Guerlain, take me away!" It's always risky to buy someone perfume as a gift (my husband, a wise man, was working from a list I gave him), but I think Champs-Elysées would be a safe bet for someone who loves classic florals like Chanel Beige, Dior J'Adore, and Fifth Avenue.

I was incredibly sad to see that the old Champs-Elysees had been discontinued. It's been a favorite since 1996 and I wore it exclusively for many years. My favorite was actually the EDT version and it was just a strong as the EDP with a slightly sharper, more sparkly black currant note. These 90s versions were longevity bombs!! You could spray it in the morning and still smell it at night. I just got this new updated bottle of the EDP - it was $135 for 2.5 ounces. The Guerlain service was wonderful, shipping was free and tax-free and came in a beautiful box. The perfume is still most definitely the original Champs-Elysees EDP with the only exception being that it's not quite as long lasting as the original. It's a small issue because I don't mind re-applying mid-day and I'm just very glad I can still have this amazing, truly unique scent that brings back many good memories for me! I do hope they will also bring back the EDT version because while not greatly different, I still liked that formulation a bit more ;)

I’m a young man, and I think this is absolutely gorgeous. I would love this smell on a woman. Even though it came out in the 90’s, it reminds me of something vintage, some type of soapy floral, but it doesn’t smell old. Perhaps I’m biased though, Guerlain is my favorite house, Mitsouko being my favorite perfume of all time... and yes that is old, and while I do wear other much newer perfumes during the day while out and about, I find I almost strictly only wear Guerlain when I am by myself or going to bed without someone beside me. There is a noticeable structure, or signature to Guerlain, and I think it goes beyond the Guerlinade base. There is an elegance, refinement, a clear picture that the perfumer is painting, evident in each perfume. Nothing else smells like Guerlain to me. This one is fantastic. The ingredients used here are incredibly high quality, I feel like royalty when I spray this on. I know this is a floral, but I would honestly recommend it to anyone into soapy vintages as well.

Champs-Elysées is one of the more underrated Guerlains, and I'm not sure why. On my skin the most prominent notes are pollen-dusted mimosa with honeyed vanilla and lilac (ok, buddleia, if you want to be a stickler, but they smell extremely similar) and a distinct sandalwood twang. It's not creamy or gourmand, just sweet, clean, and mildly herbaceous-green (from the mimosa leaf and cassis, probably). People often dismiss fragrances as smelling too shampoo-like, but that makes sense only if you're comparing the perfume to a cheap shampoo. If Champs-Elysées reminds me of shampoo, it's the super expensive kind that they use in exclusive salons, the kind that smells fizzily efficient, like it could fix all your problems by the second rinse. I know it's more of a spring/summer perfume, but I'm wearing it in late October, on a drizzly, chilly day, and it really cuts through the gloom. If C-E were a color, I think it would be pale gold.

I had champs elysees as a young kid about 18/19 (I liked mature scents for my age) so the vintage one and I loved it, when I first got this one I was disappointed it smelt watered down and it was giving very much alcohol! I’ve let it sit for about 3 weeks now and I sprayed it today and it smells extremely familiar and nostalgic. There isn’t much difference apart from the original one was a little bit lighter and sweeter but not by much. This one has a slight bitterness to it but the sweetness is still there other than that It isn’t much different. Very floral, very feminine and it’s for the age 30s and up. I find this smells like a juicy lemon (not synthetic lemon real lemon) and rose, I get the mimosas and hibiscus (I love hibiscus scents) I can smell it on me as I’m writing this and all I can think of is hot cup of honey and lemon with a hint of mint. It really is beautiful.

I have never smelled the original formulation, to my knowledge, but I love this iteration of Champs Elysées. It has a piercing honeyed floral note--the buddleia, or lilac-like accord, plus the rose petals and mimosa and mimosa leaves, and whatever "almond tree" is, the blossoms, the bark, the nuts, the whole gestalt--that really seems to sing on my skin. I can smell it a good 8 hours after spraying it, even though it has subsided to skin scent by that point. I might feel less positive about the fragrance if I knew the earlier version--who can say, although I generally follow Heraclitus in such matters. I have nothing but positive associations with this fragrance, a gift from my husband, who ordered it from the Guerlain site and spoke French with a sales rep. She must have been delighted to hear an American man pronounce the name of the perfume and house correctly.

Just wore this for the first time today. I can’t believe how many compliments I received for it. To me, it smells both classic and modern at the same time. I think any age group would appreciate this one. I find all the notes are so smoothly balanced that it’s difficult to pick out any individual notes. I was a bit concerned that it was going to positively shout ROSE, but it doesn’t. It’s simply a smooth, feminine, oh so pretty floral fragrance that’s perfect for a warm summer day.

Someone I love very much gifted me a Bee Bottle of this for Christmas in 2023 and it's very special to me. This is a fresh, delicate and safe frag that can easily be worn as a daily without overpowering others. On my skin it opens sweet and dries as a soft and gentle floral scent. I also have a mini from the original version from 1996, and kept it despite several moves. That must mean something? I love it.

A true classic in floral fragrances family. Beautifully blended, refreshing, joyful. Incredibly feminine and elegant! Flowers in Champs Elysees are so realistic and sparkling. The scent itself and the feelings it gives reminds me of a walk through the fields where flowers are blooming all around :) Thank you, dear Guerlain for keeping this beautiful perfume as a part of Les Legendaries collection!

I love so many of the Guerlain fragrances and purchased this a quite few years ago and felt it was just ok. I gave another try today and found I love it now! Maybe it’s because the weather is chilly, or maybe my tastes have changed during my fragrance journey. Happy I held on to it! It reminds me of Chanel Beige, another one I don’t often reach for, but have grown to appreciate over the years.

This is my favourite spring-summer perfume. It’s so unique, so well blended. Smells like honeyed flowers but in a fresh and clean way. The first 2-3 hours it’s heavy on the yellow florals but in a playful young way, after that it smells clean, fresh and even a bit soapy. It’s very different from all the other flower fragrances I’ve smelled, such a masterpiece.

This iteration is nice and nostalgic to the original scent, but it is not quite the same. I adored the original. I wish they would bring back the old formula. That being said, I do love this new version too! Still has the same beautiful fresh floral scent with just the right amount of woody notes. <3 <3 <3

It's starts like Ex Nihilo Sweet Morphine and ends up like Chanel Beige. Makes me happy. Love it.

My mom gifted me this because it was the perfume she wore when she was pregnant with me. What she in fact wore was the original formulation, but to her nostalgic nose she could tell no difference between this one and the one from her late 30s. I’ve never smelled the original, so I’ll take her word for it, though I do wish I had access to the OG for reference. On me, this opens soapy and somewhat old-fashioned. Despite containing no aldehydes, I can’t help but get a bit of an aldehydic impression on my skin. It mellows out to a powdery — but continuously soapy — floral with woody nuances. It’s not something I’d usually wear; it strikes me as very ‘old lady’-esque, even if I don’t like using this term to describe fragrances (anyone can rock a so-called ‘old-lady’ scent!). However, for what it’s worth, it is a comforting scent. It reminds me of clean laundry, which in turn reminds me of my mother. I suppose her anecdote really got to me, because I can’t brush off the maternal feeling I get from this fragrance. It’s lovely, really. I also find that it is much nicer on clothes than on my skin, but that’s not to say it’s bad on my skin either. Longevity is decent, projection as well. Fragrances seem to last very well on my skin though, as I often find that perfumes with ‘bad’ longevity last ages on me, so take that for what you will. I’ll keep this because it reminds me of my mother and I like to treasure the gifts she picks out for me.

Honey and yellow flowers with lots and lots of pollen! Apply with a light hand. There is a vintage/grandmotherly quality. Bright and joyful, like a hug from your grandmother in a warm kitchen in spring. I understand what another commenter meant by black tea (no sugar) with a teaspoon of honey. Mimosa is very strong in this. I actually really like this and I don’t care if it’s mature. Sadly, I do feel a little bit like the honey is turning sour on my skin, which is peculiar. I think I’d like this in my collection, but it wouldn’t be the very first purchase I’d make. I get a little tiny bit of powder in this and I also get whispers of aldehydes, though neither are listed. I can maybe understand the urine comments if I really try... but it would be like the urine of someone with diabetes because it’s also so sweet. I’ll update this to see if things change! I’d give a 3/5. Edit: I have started sneezing! A good amount! This is new for me. I may have to pass due to nose sensitivities; this is usually how I feel when my allergies act up!

This is a very beautiful yellow floral scent. I knew I liked it upon first sniff. Gloriously suited to springtime, I can imagine myself wearing this as the sun first starts peeking its head out and the flowers begin to bloom. It’s not overbearing or chemically, but instead effervescent, pleasant, and light yet it lingers for a long time on the skin. I will have to sample this a few more times but I have a feeling I’ll end up buying a full bottle. Most of my perfume collection is full of heavy vintage scents more suited to autumn and winter, so Champs-Élysées may fill that gap nicely.

Champs-Élysées Eau de Parfum by Guerlain initially seemed like a promising choice, especially since I was searching for a fragrance with a yellow floral accord, specifically featuring mimosa. The composition, at least on paper, appeared to align perfectly with my expectations. However, when I finally experienced it, the opening notes were sharp and somewhat harsh, with a striking presence of mimosa leaves and rose petals that felt more pungent than elegant. This initial impression was far from the soft, radiant floral embrace I had hoped for. After about 20 to 30 minutes, the fragrance mellowed, allowing the heart notes of mimosa and buddleia to emerge, bringing a more balanced and slightly warmer character. Yet, it still lacked the depth and sophistication I anticipated. The base notes, consisting of almond tree, hibiscus seed, woody notes, and vanilla, softened the overall experience, but they couldn’t fully redeem the initial disappointment. In terms of sillage and longevity, the projection was moderate, and the staying power was decent but not remarkable. Overall, this fragrance did not captivate me as I had expected, and while it has its charm, it ultimately failed to leave a lasting impression. I’d rate it 5.2 out of 10.

I am Champs Elysees long time buyer but this new version is very vintage smelling, I compared it with the bee bottle and it is more flowery and not so soapy, this one feels very oldschool. This is probably the last bottle of Champs Elysees I bought.

This is NOTHING like the original. I bought a bottle of the EdT in high school (somewhere in the mid to late 90s) and recently purchased this Les Legendaires version by accident. The store I bought it from listed it with a picture of the original/old bottle which is why I bought it, but I digress. The original perfume is such a strong smell memory for me and I had read numerous reviews here and elsewhere where others had said this reformulation was nothing like the original and I thought to myself, "I don't have a very sophisticated nose so I probably won't be able to tell the difference." WRONG. This is something else entirely. So powdery. Simple. None of the complexity is there, where did the mimosa go, the melon is gone, it's all powder and "floral", just the most generic unappealing scent ever. I just wasted $100 on a perfume that doesn't even smell good by itself and I'm so mad. If you are a fan of the original, DO NOT BUY THIS. Wait and score yourself an overpriced bottle off eBay. EDIT: Whoever mentioned the 'urine'-like note, you're right. It's here. I hate it. Shame on you Guerlain!

The original version of the EDP was my favorite perfume of all times, so I bought the new one immediately, it still has the main composition of the original, but less versatile and elaborate, the new version is more sweet, intense and simplified like solid scent, The sent of versatile spring flowers bouquet in the middle and airy fruity top notes at the opening, which the previous version had are somehow less existent, nevertheless it still smells like Champs Elysees, so if you love the original version, which I would prefer in the first place, you will still enjoy this one. Like all Guerlain fragrances it worths your money in terms of quality.

This was a blind buy fail for me. I actually liked how it smelt in the bottle / on a strip, but on my skin this perfume is horrendous. All I can smell is urine.

Oooh, Champs-Élysées... 🎶 The newest version of this 1990s Guerlain classic (in a ‘heart’ bottle) is to die for! I had the original EDP sometime in the mid-noughties; however, it was a very strong, yellow floral-spicy-musky, somewhat indolic perfume. Eventually I parted ways with it, because there were very few opportunities for a young mother (which I was at that time) to rock such an opulent floral. Anyway, trends have changed, and Thierry Wasser and/or Delphine Yelk have been tasked with updating Guerlain’s legendary releases for a new, more sensitive and less boisterous generation. Although this version of Champs-Élysées is significantly weaker than the original (and in that sense not so good value for money), it is nevertheless very beautiful and appropriate for many occasions. Here in southern Europe mimosa is a typical winter flower, so I always associate it with my birthday in January. The floral essence of the original is well preserved: the opening features a magnificent, completely realistic mimosa, which later makes way for rose and hibiscus, laid on a sweetish woody-vanillic base. Moderate projection and longevity. If you are a young woman who has had enough of her Victoria Secrets, Aquolinas, Ariana Grandes and other generic fruity-vanillic fragrances, and is looking for her first pretty floral, then Champs-Élysées is a great starting point.

I agree with the person that said this new iteration is more vintage smelling. I had ordered a sample of the original EDP; liked it, said to myself, how different could the heart bottle possibly be. Well, it's definitely and notably different. Immediately in the opening, there's this bitter, almost urine undertone that doesn't exist in the original. My guess is that it's the cassis accord they use, because I had a similar experience with Après l'Ondée; had ordered a sample from a bee bottle, thought it was beautiful, bought the heart bottle...and the heart bottle was hideous with an overwhelming urine facet that obscured the violet. I'm someone who typically loves cassis in frags, too. Compared to the original of this one, this facet almost smells more peachy, but not in the fruity way; more like bitter, green rind. I'm wondering if the combo of cassis and mimosa leaf is creating this chemical bitterness. As it dries down, what starts as urine becomes more plastic-like, as others have noted. This formulation is missing the soft, floral nuances and seamless blending of the original. In conclusion: more plant-like, more bitter, more chemical, more plastic, less floral, less fresh, less clean, less lotion-y smelling. They took away the nuances, and for me, that's the whole point of this scent.

I first bought this in the mid 90s in my early twenties. I was àt the Guerlain counter and it was love at first sniff. This was the most sparkling, youthful, elegant perfume I could imagine at the time when it was brand new and on trend....so much so that decades later I was afraid it would seem too juvenile for me in my 40s. As soon as my teenage daughter smelled it she broke my heart by saying that it smelled old lady which was the furthest from my recollection of this beautiful fragrance. This wasn't spicy or animalic or aldehydic or even incensey like many of the classics. It was like stuffing your nose in a young bride's bouquet on the happiest day of her life. I am guessing that this slightly sweet floral just isn't gourmand enough to pass for youthful anymore but yay for me since I can wear it without seeming like I am trying to be that young girl in my 20s at the Guerlain counter again. If you are looking for an elegant bridal perfume, something to wear out to brunch, or just need a happy uncomplicated scent to lift your spirits this is your girl

Oh. my. god. Mimosa is my love, the pollen richness feeds my soul. I sound like a broken record at this point saying I’m infinitely in love with yellow florals, but I can spot them from another galaxy. This has such a unique profile. I especially admire the mimosa leaves accent woven into the mimosa itself. It gives the fragrance texture and freshness instead of turning it into a dense yellow cloud. And maybe my nose is broken (it isn’t), but to me this is not sweet at all. I can think of a million fragrances I would call sweet without hesitation, and this would never make the list. The warmth people read as sweetness comes from the floral roundness itself, not from gourmand construction. There is vanilla in the base, yes, but it never rises as an edible note. The softness comes from mimosa, almond tree, pollen and petals, not sugar. So comforting. A beautifully blended classic: elegant, refined, but not performative. It wears with complete ease. Straight to my wishlist.

If you loved the original 1996 version you will be sadly disappointed with this iteration. I was so excited to see my beloved Champs-Élysées on Guerlain's website! I immediately placed an order. What arrived is not Champs-Élysées. It is a weak facsimile that smells of plasticky soap. Where are the bright, yellow florals? The sparkling complexity? The strong, one spray is all you need longevity? Oh maybe, maybe on the dry down you might get a hint of your beloved. But, it's honestly so heartbreaking. I wouldn't waste your money. What I would do, and have done, is fork over hundreds for vintage bottles on the web. I have 3 backups and that will do for me as this new version is honestly laughable.

The sample that I received smells rather grey, stale, musty and strangely animalistic. I was not optimistic when I first smelt it on the blotter strip and thought there’s no way this will ever work. Blotter strips are true tests for me, because often they smell good on paper but disappoint in real life. I’ve never experienced the opposite, where an unpromising strip turns out well. Mimosa and buddleia are very prominent notes here, and buddleia has an off-putting bitterness (a bit like elderflowers), though butterflies love it. The overall feeling is flat, dull and depressing instead of inviting, uplifting and invigorating.

FAVORITE PERFUME!!! I received many complements when I wore it... it is intense and lasts for long time, it’s one of the perfumes that is widely acceptable... luxurious scent it has that fancy french perfume hint, Then when it stays on your clothes it smells like luxurious expensive makeup

Adorable scent trail of rose- tinted lipstick and spring flowers, which on closer approach does indeed threaten you with a slight pissiness... and I love her for it.

I dont know how they could possibly manage to capture a springe breeze that just passed through a colorful field of floras in a bottle , but they did !

I like this but it’s not my favourite one from this iconic Guerlain line, even though i’m a big mimosa fan. it’s too sweet, almost cloying to my nose.

This is project very well, it’s a beautiful feminine floral fragrance and fit will for cold mornings or summer nights.

Would describe this as a classic "old lady" perfume. Will make a good gift for a woman 50+ for sure.
