Cuir Béluga

(Note: see edit at the end of this review) What the HEY?!! I fell in love with the vanilla smokiness of Ciur Beluga at the very second I tried it in a sample size. The bottom notes are there all the time waiting their turn to fully show themselves, but the top notes disappear fast! The middle notes they blend so nicely and dance slowly and imperceptably out of the way of the bottom notes. The leather/suede turns into a sweet smoke - and it kept me interested! . It does indeed remind me of sitting by the window in a library in the late afternoon sun. I especially loved how many hours later - smelling how it developed into something almost like a smokey vanilla incense. It was so different from anything nowadays! I loved it so much that I bought a big bottle of it I also fell in love with Angelique Noire, Spiritueuse Double Vanille and Vanilla Planifolia Extrait 21. These 4 really stuck with me. I tried most of that set - "l'art de matiere". All of the fragrances were lovely, but these 4 with their unusual vanilla centerpiece scents really impressesmd me! I bought all of them in larger bottles because once I get that fragrance that keeps me sniffing at my wrist - it haunts me till I finally have to buy it - so I can spray at will without worring about hitting empty after 10 sprays (which is about 5 days for me). This allows me to splurge and spray a bit more once and a while. So far, everything is quite satisfying as far as longevity and sillage for me on all EXCEPT the Cuir Beluga! Did I get a bad bottle? Or a fake? (Yes, I do buy off of eBay but only from exemplary sellers). The Cuir Beluga scent just literally seems to dissappear in minutes after spraying. Either that or SPV has spoiled me with that big vanilla scent (?)! Usually my perfume will reveal itself if I heat up or sweat a little. Not with CB. I tried putting on unscented coconut oil first then layering CB, I tried spraying my clothes, and I went back to the sample that first hooked me and tried only that. They all did the same damned thing! The scent that attracted me and wove a spell on me is now laughing at me! I can't smell ot beyond minutes! Does anyone have any suggestions for a much less expensive dupe of Cuir Beluga? I have Diptyque's Eau Duelle (close but not quite), plus I am researching dupes but it is difficult to find information when it is spread so thin on the internet. I have read many reviews here on fragrantica and have gotten a list of the most mentioned dupes which all seem to be discontinued, hard to find or else just too expensive to make a blind buy. I know, I know! get a sample or a decant - but I think that is what got me in trouble here! I think they purposely put a stronger version in those tiny vials! Something addictive! I loved my first few days with Cuir Beluga but I cannot even smell it now! Nose blindness? I just don't know! My big bottle is the large square one (newer bottles). The only thing I can think of is to go buy Cuir Beluga in the older rectangular bottle - either the aged or the original formula is what I need. I love Guerlain, I really do! It is probably my number one fragrance company. But their prices are killing me! At this rate, I can't fit another bottle of perfume in my budget for another 10 years! I have some nice perfumes I would be willing to trade - is there a website for that? Seriously. I sprayed SDV on one wrist and Cuir Beluga on the other not 15 minutes ago and I can't smell even a hint of the CB! But the SDV? I have no trouble with that one! I am a fragrance addict. If I smell something lovely, it will bother me till i satisfy the call and make that purchase. And Cuir Beluga has me bewitched! I love it! At least what I could smell of it at first sample! Well now, I feel better now that I got all of that out of me! Edit: 9/3/24 I am still hooked on this lovely smokey vanilla and I found the perfect dupe! USA Inspired Fragrances makes a dupe called "Leather Beluga" and it is spot on! I ordered the 15ml spray and an oil roll on so I can layer for longevity. The spray is refillable and you can get it in a 30ml spray size and a 30ml refill (no spray). Fragrance prices are no higher that $40 in this scent. They also make Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body butter, hand moisturizer, hair scent, body moisturizer and a roll on oil in this and most all their dupes and originals. They may even have more products that they scent in your favorite high-end perfume! They are legit and quite inexpensive! They have quite an offering of fragrance dupes from high-end perfume houses. My suggestion is to read the reviews and get a larger size of the ones with good reviews. Try the sample size for anything else before you spend more. I suspect they are good at what they do. There is almost nothing as far as dupes for Cuir Beluga out there. That this company did it and so beautifully spot on, well, I would say their other dupes are probably just as good! I am still astounded at the absolute similarity to the original! Have fun!

Yes! Love this! Cuir Beluga is like Shalimar Millesime Tonka but the tonka is replaced with a soft, sweet vanilla (honestly a little *too* sweet for me at times), and a touch of heliotrope instead of SMT's bitter almond for that hint of almond without the overdose and bitterness I find in SMT, which is why this works for me when SMT absolutely does not. Cuir Beluga is a gorgeous, smooth, and somewhat restrained (I smell the Chanel influence here) sueded leather, no doubt, but it's just so amazingly blended with the other listed notes that it's difficult to describe it properly as the notes are difficult to parse. Don't expect a big hit of patchouli because it's buried in there. Tangerine? Wait, there's tangerine here?? Okay, so *that* and the aldehydes are the reason for the immediate brightness and slight tang just before quickly diving down that note pyramid toward those deeper, richer notes. So yeah, for those of you who might be putting off trying CB because of specific notes, give it a try anyway: none of the notes are distinct screamers, and the dry down is so very good, especially if you were dying for Guerlain tonkas to work for you but they never did (I own a couple myself and they still don't always play nicely on me, either). Also, like others have mentioned, I didn't feel that the top notes smacked me in the face upon first spritz as I thought they would, although I bet it's the aldehydes that keep it from becoming too heavy at first as it moves down the pyramid. For my nose, the slight sparkle quickly moved to a lovely mix of those middle and base notes, absolutely blended to perfection. Only caveat is that, again, this one is quite sweet. This is no dry, boozy vanilla fragrance, even if the dry down eventually almost gets there. Still a bit syrupy at the end. To my surprise, I don't mind it, though? Those who mention it being cuddly and closely-worn are spot-on as well, but there's a slight cleanness here that isn't generally present in the typical Guerlain leather. This is no skanky, smokey, dirty, or spiced leather. It's quite elegant, really. I'm not surprised that the current nose of Chanel is behind this one: it's like the offspring of the two houses, combining their characteristic DNA into something unique but paying homage to both at the same time. Elegant but warm; sophisticated but wearable; elevated but human. "Baby Polge" learned a few tricks from his dad, apparently, because Cuir Beluga truly does look back toward those greats during Jacques Polge's reign at Chanel, but he also learned quite a bit from the house of Guerlain during this exercise, too. That leather-vanilla dry down, while perhaps a bit cleaner, is still distinctly Guerlain. Side note: I own the tall rectangular bottle after testing both it and a branded spray sample from the newer style bottle. As always, the tall rectangular bottle has better juice than the current bottle. It's darker, richer, and much much stronger, although that could be from age, storage, maceration, or whatever and not necessarily from reformulation. With that said, the top notes do come off a little burnt at times. Yet here I am 3 hours later, comparing each on opposite wrists, and yep - the old juice is still going strong while the newer is a faint whisper of a skin scent.

Cuir Beluga is a remarkably gentle leather fragrance, challenging preconceptions one might have based on its name alone. Instead of an assertive leather profile, the scent leans into a powdery vanilla essence, subtly underscored by a delicate, soft suede note. The base notes are dominant from initial application. The aldehydes are subtle and the tangering is fleeting. The mid notes are seemlessly blended into the composition and not discernible on their own. Cuir Beluga could almost be a Shalimar flanker. It smells most similar to Shalimar Millesime Tonka, not a dupe, but a close sister. Its distinguishing features lie in its smoother, softer, and more refined composition. Despite its refined character, Cuir Beluga is not a loud fragrance; instead, it lingers persistently. The fragrance projects intimately right from the initial application, creating a discreet but enduring aura that lasts well over 12 hours. This longevity makes it an ideal choice for work environments or any situation where a subtle, long-lasting scent is preferred. Adding to its allure is a beautiful femininity that emanates a soft, subtle sensuality. Unlike fragrances that demand attention with overt boldness, Cuir Beluga captivates with a more coy and understated allure. The fluffy vanilla is very cozy, soI would gravitate toward this in cooler weather. Though, it's not so heavy that I wouldn't wear it for a mild summer evening. Cuir Beluga is a beautiful fragrance I don't imagine I will be purchasing. I have loved wearing the sample I have, but the price point is far more than I am wiling to pay. It is a luxurious smelling fragrance that does deserve a higher price point than your average designer scent. But it's not so much better that I would be willing to pay triple the price. Although, if I come across a well priced tester bottle...

After I've been testing Cuir Beluga again and again, but wasn't sure about putting the large bottle on my wishlist (purely for econimical reasons), I was lucky to find the 20 ml travel size of this beauty in the Guerlain boutique when I was on holidays in Prague. Of course I bought one. When I wear Cuir Beluga, I feel like I'm in a fluffy, comforting cloud of the finest vanilla. If a marshmallow could be made of suede, it would smell like this. It's powdery and sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. The heliotrope note adds a cherry-like scent, especially in the opening, that makes it feel a little more juicy. Maybe the tangerine note helps with this, even though I don't really get anything citrussy here. I love how the suede note is done in this, it's clearly detectable, but so light and feminine, like the olfactory equivalent of a jacket or top made of soft white suede. An item so delicate that I would never buy it for myself - but now I can at least wear it as a perfume. The soft leathery scent comes really through in the drydown and mends beautifully with the Guerlain vanilla. It's a little reminiscent of how some of my mother's things like scarves smelled when I was a child in the 90s, with days-old remains of her then-signature Shalimar on them. Not the exact same smell, just a similar enough to conjure a memory. Anyways, the drydown is velvety, deep and beautiful and doesn't just fade away. This is not a loud scent, but it lasts. If you love cozy gourmands and sweet vanilla and want something sophisticated, this is a must-try. I'm in love.

I started with a small .7ml dabber and fell in love. Its soft and subtle and vanilla done in a way that is very mature and non-gourmand. I really like how it feels "around" you but not "applied to" you. It doesn't smell like a perfume, and so I like it especially for that! I ask my coworkers to tell me if they can smell me, so that I know how things project past my body and my coworker said as soon as I walked in "I can smell you today... is that vanilla?" I had two vanillas on: I had Cuir Beluga on a scarf and Mazzolari Vaniglia on my arms. I had her smell both, and she said that it was the Cuir Beluga she was smelling off of my scarf. We both agreed that this was the slightly masculine leaning of the two, and the more projecting of the two. neither were offensive to her (and she would tell me if it was!!) and if anything she preferred the Mazzolari Vaniglia for her picky nose but thought they were both nice. I got a 5ml decant of the Cuir Beluga to get to know it better, and I find I want to wear it more often than other fragrances, like one reviewer said below they feel bad if they have chosen another fragrance for the day! Now, although its the most beautiful non-gourmand vanilla, and although its the smooooooothest smelling thing ever... It's ever so slightly more masculine than I want to smell, and so for that it won't be my signature scent, but if it weren't for that I would 100% adopt this as my smell forever. And I will likely pick up a larger decant so that I can play with it some more because 5ml is going fast.

Not much to say that hasn't been said: Is it gorgeous? Yes Is it overpriced? Yes Do I love it? Yes Is it one of the poorest-performing fragrances I own? Yes I could not recommend it based on the price. I'm not one of those people that give a s#it about "beast mode" etc... I own lots of BEAUTIFUL perfumes that don't necessarily "perform" well.. but this truly does happen to be one of the lowest projection / sillage / longevity fragrances I've ever tried... Now... That having been said, it is one of the most perfect perfumes I've smelled and I don't regret owning this... But I have never paid even HALF of the retail price and I would never ever pay retail for this perfume... It just isn't worth that I'm sorry. obviously, the weak performance isn’t intentional, it just happens to be the unique combination of naturals and aromachemicals at work... But I can easily say that there is not a single fragrance in the arts & matieres collection that is weaker than this one.. even the weak musc outreblanc (yuck) has more projection and longevity (though it sucks and reminds me of laundry soap).... THIS perfume will make you think of your first love... The first time you tasted a REALLY amazing red wine... It is that good... But I wouldn't pay $595 for 200ml of the best red wine either. That wine might remain on your palette longer than Cuir Béluga remains on your pulse point... Such is life, I guess... If you can get a bottle I highly recommend it but... Try it first... The most beautiful things are the most fleeting.

I've wanted to try Cuir Beluga for more than two years because of all the lovely descriptions online. Finally got my self a 10ml and my first few sprays were underwhelming to say the least, waited for so long and here I was smelling something that smelt like orange float. I did see the tangerine note but I didn't think that it would be so woven into the fragrance. I've given it a few more wears and I definitely appreciate this a lot more now, reading the inspiration behind this fragrance really helps! It is a delicate blend of tangerine and patchouli that leads to a very smooth and airy vanilla-heliotrope dry down, a touch of amber that caresses the velvety suede. Gorgeous blend indeed, I see it as a very luxurious gourmand. It's very cozy, like wrapping yourself up in pashmina on a cold autumn morning but also quite cold thanks to the suede. I want to keep sniffing it but it eludes me. Final thoughts - I definitely adore this, it's charming but not enough, especially at that price point. My biggest problem with this is the longevity, I definitely like it when other people can smell me but I don't mind fragrances that sit close to the skin - just for the wearer's pleasure. This one however has notorious longevity, all that money and you can't even smell yourself? Been 30 mins since I very generously sprayed some on and I'm having to sniff myself like a dog. Why won't you last my sparkly orange float?

Really excited to find another powdery beauty from Guerlain that I love. Cuir Beluga is something you'd expect from Guerlain - kind of like it is the essence of the house's fragrances in a bottle! Powdery, elegant, smooth, soft, a semi-modern scent with a nod to more 'classic' perfumes. Here, we're looking at a very zen, comforting, pastel, neutral, non-sweet vanilla with depth, instead of something like Parfum Initial, French Kiss or Gourmand Coquin where it's sugary-pink-frilly-all-the-things. I wouldn't classify Cuir Beluga as a gourmand - it is inedible! (Although in my mind I do call it my "antiqued rice pudding" perfume.) Even after the initial application, this clings moderately close to the skin, and doesn't project too far. Understated, but noticeable. Predominantly made up of a more smooth, cozy vanilla, POWDER, and resting on a base of heliotrope (which amplifies as the perfume progresses. This scent is turning me into a heliotrope lover.) - I don't get an actual leather note, but instead just the texture of suede. Really smooth and fuzzy, powdery in an almost dusty way, and a hint of warmth to round it all out. If you love most Guerlain fragrances - you will love Cuir Beluga, I think this is probably the safest scent out of their exclusive line, in terms of being inoffensive, or a safe blind buy. It is definitely a new favorite of mine!

The smell: It’s not vanilla it’s more like white chocolate with white suede. In the top you get a spicy licorise/fennel/anise/aniseed note which makes this herbaceous and airy. It’s luxurious perfume minimalism when you want a little warmth and indulgent glamour but you don’t need to scream about it. It suits my personality, it’s rich but airy and understated and it’s not sweet but warm as it’s so dry like warm summer air, it’s just soft and comforting. This is what I imagine Guerlain perfumery in their golden era heyday was like. Signature scent worthy for any haters of sweet vanilla who realise they actually love quality warmth which is vastly different to cheap vanilla. The dry-down brings a savoury saltiness to this sultry smooth warmth. Longevity: Fragrances don’t last well on my skin, but after 3 neck sprays, this lasted from 6pm to all through the night until the next morning. Superb. Even my dog now smells like this where she snuggled my neck in the night. Summery: Smooth white suede with powdered dry cacao with peppery star anise. The driest warmth of hot summer air where fennel grows.

This has taken the place, of my beloved Oriental Brulant. There are facets, maybe the powder, leather, I can't tell, but it does remind of OB. So, I know I bought this years ago, I think I had dang near every one from this line. I re-purchased this maybe 6 months ago, and wore it for about a week. It grew more and more on me. I dang near had to tear myself away or the bottle would be gone. I love heliotrope and powder, and not so much leather, and glad I don't get leather too much. I like my leather in a very old worn in jacket, lol. Anyways, I would say if you love heliotrope, powder, vanilla, amber and tangerine, you will love this. So, I will always have a bottle of this as long as they make it. It's a good all year (except stifling heat) fragrance. Wears very close to the skin, but others will smell it when you are in their circle. Do grab yourself a sample though, as the price tag is high. But dang it's so good! Oh, ps and btw; I get no pee or fish smell at all, ever. Thankfully!

Probably the best vanilla fragrance I've smelled. At my first try I also got the playdough vibe and it was surprisingly good but I don't want a playdough vanilla, I want a natural, luxurious one. Luckily, after the first try, that impression faded and the vanilla smelled heavenly. I opens with a hint of bright tangerine and clean aldehydes and already a creamy vanilla scent. It quickly dries down to a powdery, clean vanilla with tangerine completely fading (which is good imo). The suede gives the vanilla a smooth, almost buttery, creamy feel, but the fragrance isn't heavy, maybe its the aldehydes keeping it fresh and always having an underlying spicy facette that makes this creamy yet powdery vanilla very unisex and fresh. The vanilla is somewhat sweet but not like your typical gourmand vanilla, still very elegant. Therefore I think it's suitable for all seasons and very versatile. Fresh and light yet cozy and warm. I can imagine a clean, chic young man wearing this.

Sensual is what comes to mind whenever I wear this and catch whiffs throughout the day. It’s rare for a powdery fragrance to also be sexy, but I cannot stop smelling myself whenever I wear this. Isn’t it beautiful when you can actually smell what you’re wearing, and distinguish the notes?... fragrances like this make the spend and the hunt so worth it. I do not get much leather/suede on my skin, but I do get a stunning vanilla creaminess that’s lightened up by the tangerine and aldehydes. The tangerine is such a playful twist that hangs in for a few hours before mellowing out to just add another layer of sweetness. Another reviewer described this as a “sweet cloud” and I 100% agree. No house does vanilla like Guerlain! Their vanilla always smell so pure- not too sugary or gourmand, or like vanilla extract with all the added alcohol. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of smelling pure vanilla, then you know exactly what I’m describing.

I got my first whiff of this months ago at the Guerlain counter, and was immediately captivated — but distracted by other popular choices (Angelique Noire, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, etc... all wonderful as well). I kept coming back to sample Cuir Béluga, and couldn't quite place the notes... it just smelled light and elegant and rich and vanillic and mysterious. Finally I got the miniature set from Guerlain with eight of the l'Art et la Matière fragrances. I can't stop wearing this one. Then I find out Olivier Polge is the nose behind it... it all makes sense. This is cool girl... and UNIQUE. Sexy, unisex but on the slight femme side (thanks to the soft vanilla and heliotrope). I didn't think I'd adore heliotrope so much!? I fear I need a full size. Side note: I have had friends say this smells like Eau Duelle — I have a bottle of the EdP, and though I see the venn diagram, these are totally different fragrances!

Cuir Beluga by Guerlain is a scent I could easily call my signature if I didn’t adore so many fragrances! This elegant and sensual perfume never fails to captivate me. You won’t be disappointed!

I recently received Cuir Beluga and have worn it a few occasions. It's a gorgeous perfume. Perfect for special occasions and when you want to smell like you have great taste (I'm sure you do). It smells luxurious and leans slightly formal, but that doesn't mean you couldn't wear this going out for a movie or coffee in a sweater. I really can't perceive the suede leather accord, but I pick up hints of a smoky slightly boozy thing. There is a perfume that feels very similar in style and wear experience. Black Tie by Celine. No, they don't smell alike but they both offer a very natural take on vanilla (dark vanilla pods), though the Celine feels a bit more modern. My guess is Polge is the nose behind the Celine scents. I have a decant of Cuir Beluga and a FB of Black Tie. Cuir Beluga easily performs better, but I prefer the oak moss in Black Tie. It's a tie!

Was playing around with the personalization on Guerlain's website, applying coupon codes hoping to bring down the eye watering price tag, in hopes of one day having some sort of justification for the inevitable splurge. Upon accidently purchasing my custom bottle and realizing there's a no return policy with such items, my fate was sealed, my official love affair with CB is soon to begin and I feel I've already forgiven my itchy fingers. $500 for a perfume is ridiculous but this will be my third from the collection, damn you Guerlain, as for the scent itself, a luxurious aura of amber, suede and vanilla, so delicate and persistent on my skin. Unisex of course. All in all, If you can get past the price, which I have... This is one of the most gorgeous perfumes you can treat yourself to, highly recommend.

I am fan of a lot of Olivier Polge's creations (as well as his fathers) so this one was on my list. At this price point, this should be the best vanilla scent ever. And honestly, it is really, really good. The cuir, or leather, note is barely noticeable, although I’m not sure whether that’s a plus or a minus. To me, it is an indulgent, mature, dry vanilla scent, with intriguing notes in the background. They never come too close to the vanilla base, yet they are definitely there, carrying it into deeper, more interesting territory. I tested this one for ages before deciding I simply could not live without it. I bought the full 200ml bottle in Paris, with all the little perks that come with it. I love it every day.

For a picky perfume sampler (that's me!) this perfume is absolute perfection. When I'm not wearing this, I'm sad and feel like I did something wrong with my day. Typically, I don't like powdery perfumes, but this is so much more than that. It is soft, and sweet and fresh and cozy. It's the smoothest perfume I've ever smelled, absolutely nothing sharp or unwanted. I can see myself wearing this year round. Yes, this perfume is expensive but it is the standard by which I will judge all other perfumes from now on. I've changed my mind about buying full bottles of a few other perfumes because I can't see myself reaching for them over this, so all in all, I say that I am saving money with this one. ;-)

Stunning, it's high summer where I am and I'm wearing it today. I'll usually avoid gourmands in summer but the vanilla dry down isn't sickeningly sweet and the fragrance as a whole is not 'shouty and loud' which, as I get older, I really hate. The tangerine and aldehydes compensate in the opening to make it season appropriate for warmer weather. In fact - I could wear this at night, in bed (thought it's a bit too expensive for that) and during all seasons. Having said that - I cannot wait to see how this wears when it's winter or when the cooler weather starts setting in. The suede is very refined, very well worn and to my nose, none of it is screechy or overly done.

I think to appreciate this patisserie in a bottle, one has to disassociate from the title. A cuir it is not, although the clever thing they've done with vanilla and immortelle does create a suede-like effect. The pleasant astringency goes in about half an hour, leaving a skin-melting vanilla which reminds me of choux pastry. it IS the ultimate luxury, but not in the sense the name suggests; it's all bourgeois pleasure, not aristocratic chic. The staying power is phenomenal - it smelled amazing on a scarf of mine for over a week, and a tiny wrist spray survived two (!) showers. Bottle worthy, in my opinion.

I finally got a sample of this, along with 2 other L'art & La Matiere vials from my guerlain purchase of rouge g case and lipstick. Wow so this reminds me of Shalimar Millesime Tonka which I have a dupe of and love. If it wasn't for that then I would be tempted to get a full bottle of this! Love this! I also noted that Demi Rawling mentioned this fragrance in one of her videos. I am so glad I finally had a chance to try it! I am not sure about the price point of this but I prefer this compared to tobacco honey too much oud for me and angelique noir which people rave about too but wasn't for me.

Absolutely love this. I am typically not a fan of vanilla’s but this has suddenly sparked my love for vanilla, and nobody does Vanilla as good as guerlain. Currently my favorite Fragrance in my collection If you can find this not at retail price, do yourself a favor and buy it, you not regret it. But don’t expect crazy perfomance, it is (in my opinion) the only thing that this fragrance lacks. It is fine for a full workday (7-8 hours) but sits closely to the skin towards the end. If you want a cheaper alternative, Shalimar l’essence (2025) is quite similar for a fraction of the price

I blind bought Cuir Beluga in January. How I wished that it would smell horrible in order to justify returning it back to the store.... But I can't. Dammit I just can't!!! When I sprayed this on my body, I was transported to the most magical place. It was LOVE AT FIRST SNIFF, without a doubt. On my skin, CB opens with the most beautiful almond note dusted in powdered sugar and dancing in a cloud of soft, airy vanilla. There may be suede note, but it's not present on my skin (thankfully). I have the sweetest dreams when wearing it to bed. I never want to be without this masterpiece!!!

It's difficult for me to understand why the majority of people find this fragrance leans feminine. There’s a plush, almost masculine cashmere-like quality to the scent, particularly in the dry down. It’s luxurious but also comforting. It's something a man, such as myself, with more life experience might find appealing, as it matches a stage of life where comfort and quality often take precedence over flashiness. Don't get me wrong because I love me some animalistic leather heavy Orto Parisi Cuoium most days, but I also find "white leather" heavy Cuir Béluga evening elegant.

Did Guerlain reformulated this fragrance or this is just an aging thing? I had a vial from the previous metal plate bottle and it smells very smooth, buttery and waxy vanilla suede combo. IMO it is just as waxy as Rose Cherie, even better since I don’t get any rubbery feel from it. Recently I’ve tried the hair mist version at the boutique and to my surprise, it’s very vanilla-centric? I tried the perfume again just to make sure and it’s indeed smells similar... Smooth, powdery amber vanilla scent. I barely get any buttery nor waxy texture from the current version.

Probably the best vanilla scent I have ever tried. I tend not to like vanilla scents usually. Beautiful mature vanilla, grounded by amber and patchouli. I’m not getting any leather though (which is a good thing honestly). Described this as a vanilla fragrance to the guy at guerlain and he was like no not really which was really surprising because this screams it to me and in such a sexy way. Lasts long on the skin and definitely radiates, I have the 10ml of this but would love to get a bigger bottle. Smells like a beautiful baked vanilla I’m honestly very moved.

Play-doh smell? yes, but in the best way imaginable. I made the mistake as a rookie into fragrances by buying a sample of this... and now everytime I get my nose on a new fragrance, I ask myself if I like it better than this... and the answer will always be no. If this was the first fragrance I bought, I don’t think I’d ever buy another fragrance ever. Oh and also on me, this thing has absolutely feral longevity (in a good way), it just stays on my skin, even after two showers it’s still there, it’s like it loves me more than I love it

I'm also interested if anyone is willing to sell a bottle (for a fair price not the ridiculous one) I got through my sample and Cuir Beluga is definitely gonna be my top 3 fav perfume ever. Such a classy perfume that smells expensive, buttery, smooth and "confident". I'm just little bit thrown away how hard is to find Guerlain perfumes from this line. UPDATE: Finally I found a bottle for a reasonable price (same one as in the Guerlain boutique) and it's a old design bottle that came with beautiful leather case. 🥰🥰

Soft vanilla suede, not a loud fragrance but has good longevity. It’s a really pleasant fragrance, something you wouldn’t get a headache with. Not something I would wear in winter as I think there are better options and you need something less soft and more loud. but for spring, autumn or even summer nights it’s perfect. One thing is that the opening does smell kinda like play dough, I personally don’t mind it as I think it’s pleasant but if you are more sensitive to those types of smells beware

What a beauty. Cuir Beluga is like a kiss from the woman of your dreams. Oliver Polge is an artist. Not a worker. Cuir Beluga is soft and tender and so nicely blended, that it is hard to get the parts of the sum. Vanilla is part of the sum, but that's of course not the whole story. But once I saw the pyramid, I started to get the aldehydes, a subtle nuance of tangerine, and Immortelle. Just get a sample if you are female. It is an upgrade for every woman.

I cannot stop wearing this fragrance. It smells like a pastry shop to me, but smooth, addictive and very sophisticated. It has a magical enigma to it that I cannot explain. There is never a time a would rather not pick this up as my fragrance of the day. It lasts really well on me and my clothes, I can smell my hair of Cuir Beluga till next day’s shower. I have decided to put some budget aside to get my 100 ml bottle refilled every year, haha!

Someone told me that the way I smell was just the most accurate and true version of me (exaggerating a bit but he basically just said if he pictured me, THIS is what I would smell like) and I am taking that to the grave because this is the most beautiful, unique, warm, and sexy fragrance I have ever smelt. Its addicting and caramely it smells so unique and works so well on my skin. One of my favorites and go-tos in my collection, 10/10!

Breathtaking. An elegant and luxurious vanilla, with soft velvety suede, and soft florals that feels classy and sophisticated. Perfectly blended, it is smooth, comforting, and undeniably refined. It quietly commands attention and leaves a lasting impression. An absolute masterpiece from Guerlain, true understated luxury. Long lasting on my skin (after 12 h I can still smell it on my skin) with a soft enveloping bubble. Big love. 👍👍👍👍

This is soooo gorgeous, I wish I could afford a big bottle, mainly vanilla to me, with a leather-ish suede backdrop, I smell like a milkybar that's been left on a leather chair in the sun, and I couldn't be happier about it, gorgeous gourmand vanilla, somewhere between custard and white chocolate, this lasts a very long time on skin and clothes, definetly worth purchasing if you're lucky enough to afford the luxury.

OMG love at first sniff ....,I’ve been searching for a really elegant, classy signature scent for what seems ages !! It’s hard to describe but the notes are to me ambery , sandalwoody, tonka, Vanilla with a silky smooth powdery essence dry down . It’s quite softly potent and just beautiful and very very feminine ...projection on me is a 8/10 and longevity 6 hrs . Stunning and more refined than Celine Black Tie

I enjoy Cuir Beluga from the first spray, but I especially love it from 4 hours in until it wears off around 12 hours later. It smells cold and smooth, sort of like snow or the inside of a cloud; however, it is such a cosy fragrance. Cold vanilla sounds like an oxymoron, but in fact it is heavenly. I think of this as a skin scent and have worn it most days since I first tried a sample.

This is a stunning fragrance. It smells mature but not in a “granny at church with the peppermint candies in her handbag” way. It smells like a grown, sophisticated 40-something who has her shit together and has absolutely no time of day for people who do not. I don’t get a true leather vibe from this, but rather a deep, rich, aldehyde-tinged vanilla that smells like pure class.

Love at first sniff. Probably the smoothest vanilla fragrance I’ve ever smelled. All of the notes work together perfectly. If you buy a sample or have access to trying it you have to spray it on skin before using a test strip. I sprayed on my arm and I was able to appreciate the entire blend, but when I used a strip I didn’t catch any of the suede or florals.

Cuir Beluga is like a second skin. The softest, most luxurious suede, slightly understated, almost velourish. Scent AND sensibility. Dreamy and perhaps a little demure with its vanilla n’ ambra hued fluff, but oh so elegant and sensual. If quiet, yet persistent luxe had a soul tag, this would be it. A class act. In itself. And beyond.

I went to Saks today to a Guerlain event at Saks. Came home with Cuir Beluga. Two weeks ago the sales woman at Saks gave me a sample and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Today, the Guerlain specialist, told me that Cuir Beluga is discontinued. So if you’ve never tried it or if it’s a love of yours, make sure you grab what you can.

This is a beautiful vanilla leathery scent. I have an original sample of this but Genre Parfums version of this is beautiful and does seem to have more longevity than the original. This would of course layer well with other vanilla scents. I like to layer this with BSB's Vanilla Whisper which is inspired by Vanilla Powder.

My original review is below somewhere, however just wanted to come back to say how gorgeous this is, wore it today after giving it a rest for a while and wow, I've missed it, who cares if the projection isn't good, it's for myself to enjoy, if you want loud go to another house, the epitome of quiet luxury... Delicious.

The soft and the sweetest cloud! These are all my favorite notes mixed together in the most beautiful way. Here you have a tender powdery vanilla that transforms into slightly balsamic suede. Soft, powdery suede with a hint of smokey vanilla. Definitely a cousin of Shalimar, but the much more subtle and elegant cousin. Like, Shalimar struts in wearing black leather, and her cousin Cuir Béluga glides in in her ivory cashmere. It is special and warm and captivating and very Guerlain. Beautiful.

Pure love at first sniff! This is elegant and comforting at the same time - soft and smooth, but still has personality. Suede and vanilla as a beautiful combo, the other notes supporting it. I was fantasizing about a full bottle of SDV but thank god I tried this one first. Cuir Béluga is the way to go 💕

This fragrance grew on me. I was very happy I didn’t love it, and wouldn’t have to spend so much money. Well, after trying my sample for a week I really enjoy it. Vanilla mixed with suede and it’s so comforting. My only issue is lasting power. It sits close to my skin and only lasts about an hour.

Masterpiece in a bottle. This is beautiful leathery vanilla with gorgeous immortal twist. Immortal adds complexity to the scent, but it still super wearable as an everyday fragrance! I think its truly unisex, especially in current times when most popular men's scent is based on heavy vanillas

This is the best perfume I have ever smelled in my entire life. You cannot judge it based on a paper tester. You have to wear this on your skin. It is the most magical, gorgeous, fragrant, breathtaking, intoxicating, sexy scent. This is my absolute favorite fragrance of all time!
