Eau de Bain

Yay!! I finally received my 125ml purple bottle- so pretty. This is very, very close to another favorite of mine- Dior Cologne Blanche - less sweet and more green. This has Guerlain’s beautiful fuzzy musk as it’s most prominent note (the same musk in my insolence) the opening is a spiced almond with orange blossom and rounded citrus. I didn’t like Eau de Lit because the Neroli was too sharp for me. This is round, fluffy and luxurious- it’s shockingly powerful- 2 sprays and I’m in a scent bubble so well above average siliage.

I’m trying my best to find something similar. It’s a little bit l’instant magic elixir, a little bit Shalimar initial, and a lot of beautiful things. If you’re into almonds and bergamot give it a try. It’s my second best summer favorite next to Tom Ford eau de soleil blanc. It just smells so fresh and clean yet not too soapy nor too sweet. It’s just perfect on a summer night after a cold shower.

This is one of Guerlain’s limited releases which is meant to add to the whole “toilette” experience, in the old school sense of the word. When people actually had the time to draw a long steaming bath (or have their servants do so), after which they would be wrapped in the finest robe. They would then sit down at a duchesse to primp and powder themselves before bed, or a night on the town, drinking martini’s and dancing the night away. If only....sigh....I’m lucky if I have time to put on makeup these days, but I always, ALWAYS have time to apply fragrance, or in this case, spray the steam from the shower with Eau de Bain. They’ll be carrying me out in a wooden box and my hand will be clutching a fragrance bottle which even the mortician won’t be able to prize away from my death grip. Priorities people! Ahem. Sorry. Anyway, on a more pleasant note... Eau de Bain has been released to be incorporated into a completely do-able, 21st century, time-poor ritual, which even I can manage. Guerlain says this of Eau de Bain. Your well-being companion, Eau de Bain lifts the senses and provides a unique feeling of calm. Add a few drops of the fragrance to your bath or spray into the steam of the room to enhance the comfort of these moments of relaxation. A delectably peaceful interlude that can be prolonged by perfuming your towels. And I can fantasise that my Ladies Maid did all this for me. If you have trouble finding Eau de Bain, then a spray of L’Instant Magic does the trick.

Nice, a bit old school and unfortunately, fairly unremarkable. Smells like a 100 other things.

I got my hands on a bottle of this called Eau Secrete but they seem to have renamed it again to Eau Coton. I have no idea why and no amount of google-fu has provided an answer. I absolutely love it though and I wear it to bed every night. I’ve ordered testers of the other three in the series.
