Épices Exquises

The name of this perfume fits it perfectly. Exquisite spices, creamy and enveloping, airy and at the same time fresh. A fragrance of contrasts, warm and fresh, creamy yet dry at times. It smells of rich spices, especially pepper and cardamom, I would even say a pinch of nutmeg, resting on a creamy amber base with an almost imperceptible touch of coffee that adds a hint of darkness. From a distance it feels as if those spices trapped in amber were floating on a breath of fresh air. Unlike some other reviewers, I honestly do not detect even the slightest trace of oud or patchouli. It is an oriental fragrance but to me it smells quite westernized. If you like someone and they are wearing this perfume, it could be a total click. And the best part is that it does not invade your space. It lasts a long time yet always stays close to the skin. With a breeze or a draft, or when someone walks past and moves the air, it floats beautifully without ever feeling overwhelming. The bottle is quite embarrassing, especially the very poor quality cap and that pseudo honeycomb detail which looks like something from a cheap bazaar. Asking 180 euros for this would make me blush, thankfully the grey market exists where it can be found for less than half. In short, I loved it. Sensual, warm and enveloping. At times slightly powdery, and a fragrance that feels very feminine on a woman’s skin and very masculine on a man’s skin. It does not resemble anything I know.

Spicy, but approachable. Oriental and very elegant. It’s very nice. Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. It is unisex but in an unexpected way: it would be feminine and warm on a woman and it would definitely look sophisticated and masculine on a man. I’d enjoy this fragrance on a significant other. Weirdly enough this fragrance makes me feel like eating something, although it’s not an edible sort of spiciness. Lovely, green flag of a fragrance.

Wow! This one is an absolute stunner. If you like spicy oud and mysterious scents this one is for you. Upon first spray I knew I would instantly love it. It's one of those that you'll want to get dressed up with, not for casual wear.

@FatherMagoolies Lol it’s literally the exact same scent. Tried both side by side. Imagine thinking the bottle design affects the scent... @OttoStranger your memory is off.

This one is a straight banger for me, but I should mention that it’s not very mass appealing and many people will not like it

I’ve never been a huge fan of this line of Guerlain’s, I don’t feel it conveys the greatness the house is typically known for. Epices Exquises isn’t a bad perfume at all, it’s a rather pleasant fresh spicy affair, but I just find myself wanting more from it. Initially it feels very unbalanced, a rather lovely clean watery vetiver/patchouli thing, unfortunately brutally violated by an annoyingly scratchy spicy and musk duo. Thankfully, the scratchiness does settle into something smoother, but remains rather bitter and spiky with a slightly green, earthy undertone. If someone doesn’t understand what is meant by the term fresh-spicy, this is a great example of demonstrating it. I think largely a lot of what I’m smelling is black pepper, which I have a long history of disliking in perfume. It’s pleasant, not my thing.

What the hell is this?! Fellow Fragheads this is one of the worst reformulations I've ever smelled! I've had les absolus d'Orient épices exquise in the past but sadly gifted it not knowing it would be butchered, I have now to look for an old bottle fortunately they're still plenty on the market, but this new rendition is not worth it anymore, watered down and smells different now it just smells like a Cartier declaration bad flanker or dupe and not even that good for me as a long time Cartier declaration fan I never run out of declaration edt, parfum and declaration d'un soir love them all! Now you have like a light spice, powdery a little bit makeupy sandalwoody, patchouli mess and slightly off smelling Cartier declaration and it's named épices exquises. What a disappointment!

I am sorry. This smells really gross on my skin. Must be the patchouli. Unless patchouli is toned down or it takes a back seat, I mean really really back seat, it is simply skanky on my skin. Plus the pepper here, oh god it is a foul smelling spicy mess. I have to quickly rubbed it off my wrist with a tissue before I gagged. I like some of Thierry Wasser's creation very much but sorry this is truly awful.

Pulls very masculine on my skin. I love unisex scents with the exception of those that really are very masculine, I really don’t like this marketing rouse where brands & design houses are slapping a ‘unisex’ label on absolutely EVERYTHING, feels like a shameless cash grab & it’s pretty much across the board & not an offense exclusive to Guerlain. If I was a man or had a man in my life that enjoyed fragrance i would certainly keep this to gift it, it smelled totally different on my brother & lasted forever! Only he wore it at my insistence- he doesn’t like fragrance at this all & even uses scent free deodorant & detergent. If you are a man, a women who embraces the wearing of something quite masculine- I must admit, as a teen, when I ran out of my ‘signature scent’ (also my very first ‘proper perfume’ that wasn’t a stocking stuffer - think Baby Soft) I would wear my bottle of Eternity for men which was bought for me as a gift from someone who heard ‘Eternity’ & delivered - not knowing that there was more than one formulation... while it wasn’t the Eternity I preferred- the one for women ... strangely enough I would get compliments from my male friends in high school, ones who never remarked on my scent. 💫for swap, huge 125ml bottle missing 5-6 mls (guesstimation) I ❤️this bottle! It’s absolutely gorgeous & would welcome a trade that included it only filled with something more TRULY unisex or feminine in the same collection... I am also open to thousands of other potential swaps & I can very easily reassure you that I am, have always been & WILL in always be a 🪨 solid seller with a record of ONLY legit transactions, hundreds of them for over 20 years, ONLY content trade partners & customers

I’ve tried this new version of Epices Exquis today briefly because I was in love with the previous version for years but I never got around getting a bottle. Take this with a grain of salt, but as a first impression, I think Guerlain butchered Epices Exquis when moved it in the Allegoria line bottle. From what I remember because I have smelled the OG version a couple of times, this is one of those reformulation where the new version doesn’t retain much from the original DNA. It is a watered down version. Which is sad. I will sample this version again and update here in case my experience is anything different than today.

extremely spicy on my skin and it was amazing. different smelling, mass appealing, masuline-unisex, arm's length sillage, lasted 4 hours strong projection, 3 more as a skin scent, great stuff. it has appeal to all noses and the oud adds smoothness in the base to the spice.

This is nice. It’s spicy but not overwhelming. It has a sweet touch that helps to balance it. I imagine a rich, mature gentleman wearing this. It has a calm vibe to it, like a Fall evening.

I can't comment on performance as it's unwearable for me. I blind bought, sprayed on wrist but there is a off-putting vomit type note. I couldn't wear it, had to wash it off.

The worst “reformulation” I’ve ever encountered. The old one was spicy and dense, this one is watery and thin. Grab a vintage bottle whilst you still can.

Wow, cardamom, patchouli, pepper with oud my all time worst ever combination in a scent all together. Sandalwood is ok. I wonder how that smells.

I love it! Spicy but balanced spicy. There is no overpowering note, it is well balanced

Why Les Absolus d'Orient Ambre Eternel is forgotten?!, it was a masterpiece.

On me it’s very nonlinear. Just changes and changes, which I love.
