Épices Volées

Out of the samples I've tried from this collection so far (some are revisits because I've forgotten what my opinions are), this one has lasted the longest so far. It has a more direct approach to smelling good, less subtlety. As with Cruel Gardenia, I can connect the scent of Épices Volées directly to my childhood. I can't place exactly when, but it's there. Perhaps I had a family member that smelt like this. Someone with quite good taste; I really enjoy this. For me, this is largely a sandalwood & lemon fragrance with what I think is artemisia. There's a bit of coriander, a bit of patchouli but it's mostly the first three mentioned. The undeniable appeal of this scent is more detectable at the start, but it burrows its way into the dry down as well. Thinking on it I think this fragrance is a little old fashioned, but that's hardly an insult. It's almost like a look back into yesteryear. Visiting, say, Sovereign Hill (a gold mining "museum" of sorts, located in Australia) where one can make candles and other things done in the time when the mine was open. It makes me think of period dramas (18th & 19th century) - even if that doesn't translate to anyone else's experience with this. Truly a special one, perhaps. Mature, but not uptight. Comforting. A modern day classic.

As with many of the range, it opens unassuming and delicate, but has surprising legs. As is also the case with most of the others in the range, it has a slightly challenging element to me. As the citrus wears away from the opening, the spices take hold, and the cream subsides to a sort of artificial remnant. It's not bad, but cloves can be a tough one, as they can enter into culinary territory. Someone else on here mentioned a raw egg smell, and I do get what they mean. That's not to say I don't like this perfume, but what seems to be a gentle, soft scent is actually quite a difficult one, with a couple of twists and turns. As ever with Guerlain, the quality can't be denied, and I do keep going back to spray a little more then keep sniffing my skin, so there's something magical there. Don't be fooled by the soft opening, go easy on the sprays, you'll be rewarded by gentle, complex wafts for quite some time, whereas overspray and you'll risk smelling of a spicey, eggy guff.

This is a beautiful, wearable, spicy masculine scent. It has personality, as in once you smell it you will not forget the smell. I smelled a sample 2 years ago and could not forget the scent profile. I had to purchase a bottle. It gets hate, probably because of the price increase when added to the Lart and Materiale collection. I understand that, but it's a tremendously pleasant and addicting, wearable wood and spice. Truly delicately blended and crafted. Comparisons to The One are clearly trolls. This is one of the easy reaches I have for spring, fall and winter. It's an easy grab, but also very classy and memorable. To me. The best smelling sandalwood note in any fragrance Ive ever smelled.

I LOVE AND APPRECIATE THIS MASTERPIECE, This one is a perfect signature scent for a man, it’s reminds me of Dolce and Gabbana the one eau de parfum but minus the tobacco, in the dry down it’s a bit more spicier. The only problem with this perfume is that you need to judge it without looking at the name or the notes here because if you don’t like the spices you will not give it a chance but trust me this is a beautiful fragrance and after buying it make your first sprays and put it in a dark cold place for making it better because it’s getting better throughout the time.

I’ve only ever know this as Épices Volées, I purchased it this week along with Embruns D’Ylang. I don’t know why, but this reminds me of “art” in primary school with a warmth to it. I cannot even describe the mix of notes, but it is fabulous. I would have to say it starts a little zesty, with a hit of clove/nutmeg turning into a smooth vanilla-like benzoin base. I think this is a 360 degree sent, starts of zingy ending in a warm spice.

One of the last masterpiece created by the great jean Paul Guerlain ❤️ so much unique & so lovely 😍 thanks Monsieur Guerlain for craftsmanship🙏 now the house of Guerlain is In the hand of a third class perfumer named Delphine Jelk 👎🤔 such pity!! She's ruining the legacy of Guerlain by her mediocre & worthless releases 😠

Happy to smell this one side by side with my Voyou. Masterpiece, nothing changed, nothing got destroyed or added. Pure bliss. It is classic and traditional and very versatile spiciness. Light-handed and truly appropriate for any occasion as it works so smoothly. That's what I call seamless blend.

Chanel-like Oriental spices but done the classic Guerlain way. It’s all about the spice and if you’re a spice fan, then this is classic. As it dries-down it’s almost giving me Old Spice vibes but in a soft and delicate feminine way. Faultless but you must love powdery spices.

Thumbs down from me. Dior's Spice Blend is far superior for my purposes. These Old Spice/ Safari/Coriander-inflected gentlemen's fragrances should never cost as much as Guerlain asks. Even at significantly lower prices, I prefer about half a dozen others in the same genre.

Épices Volées Guerlain (Formerly Arsene Lupin Voyou by Guerlain) (Store test) I tested, Épices Volées Guerlain as I wsih to explore more in this range. Maybe I haven't test something that specular like Oeillet Pourpre that was love a first sniff and was my purchase on the next day. Épices Volées is spicy-chypre scent; strongly traditional. The blast of spiciness was push on my skin was sudden and everything at one. I can only think of "The One EDP by D&G" but I also get headage when sniff this. It push out my skin strongly in a bad way like he wouldn't agree with my skin chemistry. First Impression 6/10 After the spice storm passed, I got woody note (bark like) similar to Oud Nude experience. But this times with Patchouli, it is clean scent by now, but traditionally clean. the old way clean and I really don't mind, I enjoy it Final Dry down 7/10 (better) I want to re-asset the scent again but when I am thinking of spice bomb experience. I don't wanna face it again. Maybe, later. When I am ready. In the same category of fragrance; I like Spice Blends better, airy - light - slowly develop and slightly sweeter or Maybe I just use; Poivre Samarcande by Hermessence and call it a day. To re-asset further.

Bitter disappointment in every sense. Guerlain, what were you thinking? Or more aggressively - why, WHY did you do this and let it out of the R&D lab? Harsh, cheap, undistinguished - a blemish on a venerable house which still makes many of my glorious, adored, all time loves. Possibly I just fell out of the demographic but this lands on my nose as an utterly generic designer-a-like freshy, with all the ultra-basic grey omni-chemical tang of anything you'd spray on at a discount barbershop, rather than as anything from the pricier refined end of the market. Anonymous musks? Identical calone? Characterless aromatics that don't actually evoke anything even authentic, much less upscale? I'm shocked, baffled, bamboozled. "Stolen Spices"? I don't think so: this isn't even worth shoplifting. Well-aged dust swept out of the bottom of an ancient kitchen cabinet maybe. Not even a whiff of excitement. Obviously - your mileage may vary; try it before my disillusion rules it out. On paper this looked glorious. But it broke my (nearly idolatrous) faith in the great name.

Unpopular opinion but this smells like raw egg with a fleshy quality on my skin, unfortunately to me this makes it quite undesirable and a hard pass!

Smells like a drug-store designer release - more specifically - D&G The One. And this is far too expensive for what it offers. Hard pass.

Herbs and spices from your moms cupboard fries down to mostly nothing.

so, i fell in love with this scent and went on to buy a bottle of this and lupin. which is said to be the original scent rebottled into this. we've heard that before though with feve/coquin. in both occasions people claim to see difference. i was doing random research about the perfumer and read on the comments of the article there were some nasty racist remarks made. pretty bummed because i was going to buy a few books by jpg. i already own these scents and don't feel like reselling them. this is house of sillage all over again. the scent is vanille planifolia layered with bergamot fantastico extraits.

This scent always makes me wonder how it should be categorised, it absolutely spicy but with multi facets , my latest trial I saw it shares something with Patchouli Intense by Nicolai that by its own is enough to put me off , not because Patchouli Intense is a horrible scent but because it was absolutely abused by dupe makers that made any hint or memory of it screams cheapy associations unfortunately Cheers

Gorgeous scent. It opens with a blast of coriander, clove, cardamom. It has some green notes, the drydown is slightly sweet, I guess because of the benzoin. The sandalwood is restrained. The patchouli is very subtle. I think this is a great scent for a gentleman. On my skin it feels a little bit too soapy and barbershop like, not something I want to smell like. But on a man this has to be amazing.

Store Test Short Review: Aromatic fresh opening thanks to the sage, dries down into a subtle wormwood and sweet sandalwood supported by bland green spices. Very unique experience and a true spicy green perfume, a beautiful change compared to the endless mass-appealing sweet perfumes of Guerlain’s private line, where even most of their green perfumes are sweet, but not this :)

I don’t know. I don't get much wood from this. It’s kind of barbershop on top and a nice warm unsweet amber at the base. I love the juxtaposition. Not very potent, and at this price-point, I think it should be. But, the perception of value and wallet sizes vary. :)

The best formula of Nicolai patchouli intense , I hetad NPI it was super annoying & gave me headache every time I smelled it... but this one is the perfect form .. not my cup of tea but it’s very nice ... it’s weird that nobody mentions that
