French Kiss

I love powdery scents and I always loved to have a perfume that smells like lipstick and makeup powder but I didn't have any hopes to find one as I had sampled a few perfumes known as lipstick scents and they didn't remind me of lipstick.I even disliked some of them,yes Lipstick On I'm looking at you. I also don't like Insolence EDP(I kind of like My Insolence though) I went to the only perfume shop that has Guerlain Exclusives in my country with the purpose of testing and buying Gourmand Coquin(which I loved and purchased immediately) but first I sprayed French Kiss by mistake and I was hooked! French Kiss is the prettiest and cutest scent I have ever smelt.it's very girly and fun and flirty and delicious but it's also elegant. It reminds me of everything girly and smells like color pink. superfeminine, romantic like a fairytale,beautiful like a dream,soft like angel's wings and sparkly like lip gloss and skin glitter.It's really hard to describe how lovely this powdery veil is.it's a simple scent,youthful and easy to love.violet and heliotrope appear in their prettiest forms and raspberry adds a pink,fruity sparkle to this violet powder cloud.it really smells like lipsticks,fruity lip gloss and lip balms ,lotion,face powder, sugar coated gummy bears, fruity powdery blushes,dolls, marshmallow and colorful macaroons. it is the epitome of feminity.I loved it so much that I couldn't resist and bought it too.now I'm totally bankrupt thanks to French Kiss and Gourmand Coquin but I don't regret buying them French Kiss lasts +10 hours on my skin.it's a soft scent but people around me easily notice it in first hours of application.to me it's wearable year round and is a great date perfume,also lovely for girls night out.even an adorable bride perfume if you want something other than a white floral This is my HG lipstick perfume یه عطر پودری بی نظیر،ترکیب بنفشه،هلیوتروپ و تمشک.مظهر زیبایی و زنونگی،ساده،دخترونه،دوست داشتنی،ظریف،رومانتیک،جوون،رویایی، خوشمزه ترکیب بوی رژلب،برق لب و بالم لب میوه ای،لوسیون،رژگونه پودری،پاستیلهای صورتی شکری، مارشمالو و ماکارون، ورژن عطری یه دنیای دخترونه و صورتی_یاسی رنگ واسه من کوچکترین شباهتی ب لیپ استیک آن نداره خوشبختانه و بنظرم از اینسولنس ها خیلی خیلی بهتره باوجود قیمت خیلی بالاش واسه من ارزش خرید داشت. موندگاری خیلی خوبی داره و بااینکه عطر ملایمیه بقیه براحتی متوجهش میشن،بنظر من میتونه چهارفصل باشه و خیلی پراستفاده

I’ve held off from reviewing this for a while in the hope of working out how to capture it in words better – I still don’t think it’s going to happen! I’ve developed a habit of buying perfume at the airport whenever we’re off on holidays in the hope that the fragrance can capture the memory of the holiday... although this fragrance wasn’t bought at the airport (only available at Guerlain stores or exclusive distributors I think?), it’s sort of fallen into that category as I find it quite similar to the one I did buy from the airport – La Petite Robe Noire parfum. I was surprised and transfixed by LPRN – it’s sparkling, fresh and fruity and it has a surprisingly clean and uplifting dry down that I never expected. The cherry note was particularly surprising as I felt it may be too cloying initially but it settled into being my favourite part – and then lasted on and on and on. French Kiss is very similar to LPRN to me... almost to the point that I questioned whether I should be buying two such similar fragrances. However, I find French Kiss to be notably warmer – still cherry but with a bit of strawberry and creamy vanilla. When I had LPRN on one wrist and French kiss on the other, the difference was very obvious – absolutely delicious! The difference to me is much like Crystal Noir to Hypnotic Poison – so many similarities but the first being summer and the second being winter. The longevity and silage of French Kiss aren’t monsters on me but it dry’s down to a beautiful soft skin scent that lasts several hours. The top notes and heart are my favourites though – I want to be able to smell it as long as possible. Anyway, the differences between LPRN and French Kiss were enough to convince me to spend all that money on yet another fragrance and I’m very, very happy I did... I love them both and neither of these are like anything else in my collection. My latest favourites and a duel reminder of our wonderful Christmas holiday in Hong Kong.

French Kiss is definitely out of my comfort zone; floral fruity, raspberry and white musk are categories I would usually steer away from. Strangely - I love it! Other than a very pleasant surprise it was for me testing it for the first time, there are several reasons why I think French Kiss a hidden wonder of Les Elixirs Charnels. Luckily, lychee is what I get the most of the fruity part, adding a dose of tartness to the raspberry - my usual perfume nemesis, always so synthetic-smelling and somehow stuffy. What many detect here as a cough syrup accord, I smell as - raspberry. So, this wonderful lychee is making a very good balance in what would normally be very sweet combo of raspberry, heliotrope, violet and vanilla. Another thing is a remote connection to La Petite Robe Noire (which I also strongly dislike), but it is short-lived. Although I never used Guerlain's famous Kiss Kiss lipstick, the reference of lipstick smell is evident. After the fruity opening, heliotrope, orris root, rose and violet appear and soon enough all I can smell is lipstick everywhere, exactly like when smeared of kissing! This moment of perfume's development was an eureka-moment for me. Furthermore, the quirkiness of this perfume became even greater when the smeared lipstick note was joined by the fruity sourness which resulted with an odd accord resembling human saliva; though it may seem off-putting or even gross, it actually makes it 3D realistic and very authentic - the smell of kissing passionately with someone. This moment, as well as the hefty dose of iris missing in French Kiss, is what distinguishes it from Lipstick On! of Maison M. Margiela. Both compositions are very atmospheric yet this stuff is far from girlish pink, it's a different kind of perfume completely - a quirky and sexy cosmetic delight.

My sample just arrived (dab on) and I'm wearing it now. If it doesn't wow you at first, be patient. It will. I didn't get much fruit at all, but this is a soft, hypnotizing kiss (because it really is a "kiss"...it doesn't grab you by the throat, like Gourmand Coquin does, and I worship Gourmand Coquin) of the musk, vanilla, powdery iris, and something slightly almondy which I'm guessing is the heliotrope. I think I'm picking up on the violets (because it seems a bit powdery ) too, but I didn't get the berries. That is okay, as just the notes I described make it beautiful enough. Perhaps a spray would bring out the raspberries a bit more. French Kiss has a siren song...so watch out, lol! It whispers in your ear, and leans in and gives you the softest, sweetest, sexiest kiss. And you smell divine. This is going on my want list. Edit: I happen to have a chemistry that devours fruity notes (with the exception of blackberry and black currant, for some strange reason) and I like fruity notes, but I did notice after giving French Kiss some time on my skin, that I could detect a very soft raspberry making herself present amongst the other delightful characters in this juice. About two hours after applying. I've already decided to bring this one home, as I find that I need it to live, but I just thought I'd mention that, for others who have a hard time detecting fruity notes on their skin after the initial spray. Love, love, love! Now if I could just fnd a perfume with a peach note that will stick to me for more than two minutes... ;)

I see French Kiss as a successful experiment in how pink, sweet and girly you can make a scent while still keeping it perfectly balanced, elegant and high-quality. As it turns out, that's pretty far, at least if you're Guerlain! It's all about rose, violet and raspberry, so it's really very "pink" and girly, but not juvenile at all - a sophisticated girliness that suits adults as well. And while it's definitely sweet it doesn't go overboard in that department either. To my nose, it doesn't fall into the category of make-up/lipstick scents, although it does have the powdery pinkness in common with that genre. But for me it lacks the waxy and/or strongly musky aspect of typical makeup scents, and instead it has a definite quasi-gourmand vibe from the sweet (but not sugary) fruity notes, which I love. It's quite longlasting with above average projection as well: another sign of high quality. It's not the kind of scent that fits any mood or weather, but on days when you need some well-balanced sweetness it can be just what the doctor ordered. The only downside is that it's so expensive: I think French Kiss is wonderful, but I'm not sure if I'd pay full price for a bottle...we'll have to see what happens when (or if?) my decant runs out.

Guerlain's French Kiss is essentially a lighter version of FM's Lipstick Rose with the addition of some candied berries (and I cannot comment on the comparisons with MMM's Lipstick On, as I haven't sampled that one yet). I found this perfume to be a temperamental and weather dependent fragrance on me; sometimes, I get the super sweet, bright and juicy top-notes of mostly raspberry, before it quickly progresses into the lipstick dry-down, and other-times this zooms straight to the lipstick part and bypasses all of the fruit, which is a little disappointing. I don't find this to be as plush, as rich, or as textural as Lipstick Rose, in which I can smell the silkiness of the lipstick itself. It lacks the depth that Lipstick Rose has. French Kiss is lighter and softer, with it's rosy-violet lipstick accord, a tinge of vanilla and a soft powdery dry-down. Thus, I don't find French Kiss to be as evocative, although I do consider it a beautiful smell, so Lipstick Rose still remains my favourite of the genre. Soft to moderate sillage on me, longevity was for about 6-7 hours :)

Of all the similar fragrances I have tried so far, Lipstick Rose is the closest (the opening, unfortunately short lived, and the dry down are exact match) however the mid notes are too waxy, so to counteract I layer it with Insolence EDT and it’s perfect. If you try Lipstick Rose on your skin and you smell it nose close to skin, you won’t find the French Kiss magic because French Kiss magic is all about the fairy ethereal trail bubble you smell around you, it’s the same for Lipstick Rose, it’s all about the dry down trail (and mids if layered with Insolence). So if you test Lipstick Rose, you must spray it on your neck or décolletage to experience the French Kiss scent trail. Insolence on it’s own is too much about the powdery violet (reminds me of the Parma violet candy) and the rose is lacking to match French Kiss. Rose Cherie is nothing like French Kiss, it’s a powdery rose, kind of grandma like, no trail or very faint and mostly powder powder powder 😢 so boring, glad I had a miniature so I didn’t splurge on that butchered scent !

As a cosmetic scent lover Guerlain French Kiss is one of the most likable and wearable because of its fun, flirty-fruity top notes. Raspberry jam roses, sprinkled with sweet litchi on a powdery bed of violets and orris root all wrapped in a vanilla blanket. This is the Parisian pastry shop of my dreams! It’s pink dessert, pastel dresses, shimming high heels, lipstick, face powder, and champagne! So feminine like the perfect Paris rendezvous! Lipstick On by Maison Martin Margiela is vintage vanilla face powder, absolutely compact heaven. Chanel’s Misia is so violet dominant in the opening that you almost feel deceived until the violet simmers down and you can smell the roses and the iris underneath. I smelled Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose and while I do see that it has a place in the lipstick/cosmetic scent family, it was too sour for me – baby wipes came to mind. So that’s 3 out of 4 for me that I did like with Guerlain’s French Kiss leading the way!

I was gifted this recently by a friend. I really didn't know what to expect from French Kiss Guerlain for women. The bottle itself is understated but elegant and the juice is a beautiful blush pink. After applying (sparingly) I was rewarded with this pretty scent. It has a freshness about it, a sort of a happy fizz. It is feminine and delicious. The first note I picked up was the raspberry, not your synthesized chemical raspberry but the divine, exuberant, fresh kind. Litchi compliments the raspberry very well and the violet and vanilla temper the fruit perfectly. After a short time I get sophisticated rose blended almost seamlessly with heliotrope. This scent is just lovely, clean and powdery soft and extremely feminine. The silage is not great on me, it is very soft. I am hoping that in the summer with warm weather this beautiful perfume will radiate a little further. As for longevity I find it to be moderate.

To Say this smells like an expensive lipstick... I get the comparisons, but I think what really needs emphasis is that it’s in the best of ways. The drydown is so beautiful, not at all like the full on rose/ raspberry/ litchi/ violet you initially get after spraying- it DOES remind of 1990’s luxury brand lipsticks but it’s just so pretty! Several years ago, I had the original Guerlain French Kiss , now I found a dupe that immediately had me recognizing it - I’m sooo happy I found it because although this would not be anything I would have chosen for myself, I loved the original and wondered why it was discontinued. Sure, a dupe is a dupe but better than nothing, so I’ll just enjoy the source and will hopefully always have access to some of the good but sadly discontinued fragrances this place offers without breaking my pockets! I wish Guerlain brought French Kiss back- Rose Cherie is comparable but weaker.

Finally got a bottle of French Kiss!! Rose Cherie truly is a watered down version I’m afraid and soapy. Rose water and expensive soap. Lovely but not French Kiss at all! Very little almond for me in rose Cherie. French Kiss has vanilla right along side the litchi and the raspberry in the opening and those fruits stay throughout the life of the fragrance. French Kiss becomes creamier and enveloped in warm almond and even more vanilla as it dries down. Above Average longevity and a wonderful scent bubble for hours. The closest fragrance to French Kiss in my opinion is Insolence EDP (in the rosebud saucer bottle) I’m wearing Insolence today and I was so surprised by how close the two are. Insolence has less almond, it’s more powdery because the Iris is more pronounced and it’s not as tart as French kiss. If you want something close to FK, skip the soapy Rose Cherie and try Insolence EDP.

Guerlain Elixir Charnel French Kiss. 💞💕 An absolute LOVE. This has surpassed my previous Guerlain favorite— Angelique Noire. Even Gourmand Coquin comes second to this beauty for me. The juicy raspberry note is sweet and so realistic, it even has a bit of that sour zing you get with the real fruit. All of this is wrapped in a beautiful violet wave with a fresh pink rose in the background; the vanilla and orris root giving a sweet, soft, powdery pillow for all of this to rest on. This is a stunner. First time I tried it, I was like, 🤔. It wasn’t what I was expecting and I didn’t quite know where to place it— I’m used to my rich vanilla gourmands after all. The second time I tried it, I bought a bottle the same day, and my love for it has continued to grow. Of course in classic Guerlain fashion, it has been discontinued. 🙄 Silage: Moderate Performance: ~ 6-8 hours.

A masterpiece of cosmetic style fragrance. I truly have no words to describe this unique beauty. It's sweet... oh, so sweet, litchi and raspberry bursting with juice, especially the opening. I am not a fruity perfumes person, in fact, I tend to mark fruity fragrances as a "dislike" or "ok" at best. Usually fruits in perfumes smell extremely synthetic to me. Not here. They smell real and fresh, although a tad bit exaggerated, of course. After the initial burst of sweetness subsides, the best part starts - the heart of the fragrance that lasts for about 2-3 hours on me. Gorgeous vintage raspberry lipstick. Oh, it is so, so good. I managed to locate and buy a precious 70% full partial for exuberant amount of money, and you know what, NO REGRETS! This gorgeousness is worth every penny. Can't wait to compare it to Rose Cherie and Insolence.

French Kiss is just so darn CUTE!!! But in a sophisticated way that only Guerlain could pull off ;) It is soft, happy, fruity, powdery, candied, juicy, optimistic, violetty prettiness all bottled up! However, it doesn't smell like a body spray, or a kid's scent. It's really fine-tuned and tempered so that it stays sweet and fresh without any of the notes veering into the cloying level or overpowering each other. It also stays pretty linear on me with maybe some of the fruitiness dying down. I don't like any of the Petite Robe Noir line, but I could see how this has a similar vibe. Also, the litchi in this is so much more agreeable to me than it is in Idylle. French Kiss is just much smoother, quieter, and non-intrusive. Great for all ages (I'm 43). I think French Kiss would be a huge seller if it wasn't so exclusive and expensive.

The BEST makeup scent there is. This is all raspberry and violet on me. I am truly in love with this scent but the longevity and sillage are a bit upsetting considering the price. It is just so good, that you almost forget for a moment the price and want to shower yourself in it and it is all you want to smell. It is soft and delicate, yet stunningly beautiful. I love gourmand coquin, but I am just beginning to realize that I love French Kiss just as much. I initially didn't like Guerlain as a house and now I cannot get enough. I am so glad to own this beauty, but I will not be using her often because I don't want to use up this gorgeous juice. It is super girlie. The pink liquid is the perfect choice for this one. FK is what I would imagine a young woman that is considering becoming a nun would wear. Very innocent and sweet.

makeup scent for sure . This is such a treat to wear , kind of girly , but balanced so well with a lady like pouderynes . It is sweet in a fruity way , but balanced by pouder and florals so its not realy to much , just on the edge . This is so joyfull and uplifting in a flirty fun kind of way . almost feel giddy wearing it . young and in love ,walking on clouds . im not that young anymore ,but still i can apretiat this beauty and get that feeling . I can see the comparisent to petit robe noir coutor .thats the closest to something similer i get . i can not at all find anything similer to Margiellas Lipstick on , they are totaly different . frederick malle lipstick on aswell is not like this . this is more dusting pouder , girly lipstick lipgloss. truly a divine joyous flirty scent on its own terms .

French Kiss notes brings me the memories of my mom smell without being old style The sweetness that reside in your memories when you were a little girl and you ate those fruity candies without being childish or sugary The aura of femininity in a Degas' ballerina paint. It's so timeless, So tender... So there... So Paris... Is the definition of everything that is beautiful. It has a lot of presence without being loud, just as a modern and classy mademoiselle. It's such an honest fragrance, it does not play with you, making you believe something that it is not, pretty in the opening when you apply it in the morning, and prettier in the evening when you still get whifts of "a very whimsical French kiss". Highly recommended. Very happy with my purchase.

I really love this one! I find it safe enough that it shouldn't offend people no matter where I wear it but different enough that I don't smell like anyone else. The most noticeable notes for me are the raspberry, violet, orris and vanilla with rose a little behind. I do wish the rose was a little more prominent, as I really enjoy Guerlain's roses. I had bought this when I was planing my trip to Pairs and I wore the entire time I was looking at rooms and places to visit and walking tours etc...It was also on the jacket that I took with me on that trip, so now it's got a scent memory of a super happy time!! I do wish it was not so expensive, but I guess the upside of that is I know it won't ever be a fragrance that everyone will buy.

Sooo gorgeous..elegant and playful. Raspberry and Violet notes are most prominent. The rose is more of a rose water. Smells edible! Reminds me of sweet violet rose water Turkish Delights dusted in powered sugar. Yummyy, yet somehow this combination still does come off elegant and pretty on the skin. And definitely does NOT remind me of Lipstick On, Insolence, and especially NOT Lipstick Rose. Geez. Not the same at all even if the notes listed on Fragrantica appear similar. Lipstick Rose smells like vintage makeup and like my mom’s hot pink Lancôme lipstick from the early 90’s. Lol. Anywhoo..this is beautiful. Get your nose on it if you’re into sweet, delicate powder scents. <3 Salam

If Hot Couture and Amarige D'Amour had a baby, it would be French Kiss. I just received a 5ml decant off of ebay and am wearing it now. It smelled so familiar all at once. At first spray I got that very distinct "hairspray" smell, which is not a bad thing. That's the Amarige D'Amour parent right away...but then there are also sweet vanillic berries, and that's the Hot Couture. Guerlain and Givenchy are sister companies (I used to work/sell for Givenchy & Guerlain) as a tester rep. French Kiss is so elusive that the only thing I could afford to get was a 5 ml decant off of ebay, but I'm glad I got to smell it. It's not ground-breaking, but it's nice.

The opening of this perfume is reminiscent of a cherry lolly: the effect is youthful and flirty in a Lolita-like way (and yes, I'm referring to the character by Nabokov rather than the little-girl style of dressing). This effect, the youthfulness, the flirtatiousness, remains despite the change in notes from cherry lolly to lipsticky violet. The lipstick note in this does not bring to mind a femme-fatale but that little girl, who moments before was sucking at her candy, trying on her mother's lipstick. Only complaint is the sillage which is very, very soft although that may be a good thing for others.

I am smitten with French Kiss. The longer I wear it, the more impressed I have gotten. I did't think a whole lot about this fragrance when I initially tested it, finding it at the time a bit on the shy side for my taste. When I gave this a proper sampling things changed dramatically. Yes, there is a shy quality to the composition still, but it is undeniably gorgeous in it's tender, sweet fruity opening and absolutely stunning powdery violet and vanilla dry down. It is a romantic sort of fragrance to be certain, not a vixen, but an angelic creature floating on a heavenly fragrant cloud. Divine.

I am reminded very much of Red Licorice and old fashioned makeup/doll heads. When I was growing up, dolls were scented with a candy like fragrance that this is reminiscent of. The tart, fruity notes recall hard rasberry candies, berry licorice whips and red twists from the candy store. But there's a heady powdered violet note that makes this fragrance smell more expensive than sweets. Very girly, moderately long lasting (6 hours) and beautiful. I find that this projects better than its popular sibling: Guerlain Gourmand Coquin. I often sniff my arm when I wear this. It's just so pleasurable!

Gorgeous. Overtook my love of Lipstick On as the best waxy lipstick smell, because it develops -into- lipstick instead of gradually developing -out- as Lipstick On does. Starts off aqueous and sweet like the lychee you find at boba shops then the orris, heliotrope, and violet take over and lend powdery floral sweetness to the mix. Raspberry is surprisingly faint for me, only appearing towards the back end of the smell and subtly so, making this feel a little younger than Lipstick On with the plastic note it imparts. Lasts long, mild projection. Full bottle worthy if you can afford it.

It's love for me. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted a fb of Indult Manakara - what I thought was my holy grail litchi scent - until I tried this. This is Manakara's younger, more carefree, softer sister. The heliotrope lifts the litchi up until it softly floats in a pink cloud. The rose and orris ground it, but not in a heavy way, just to flesh it out. The berry in the opening makes it a tad tart, so it isn't a linear floral fruity scent. The musk makes it all shimmer. THIS is my holy grail litchi scent.

LOVE it. I've been looking for a "lipstick" scent with a fruity twist, even though I am not a big fan of powder. Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose was way over the top powder to me, and I like Lipstick On, but this... this is what I've been searching for. This is the powder scent for people who don't like powder. I also find that it is quite long-lasting, especially on clothes. I'm getting whiffs off my sweater almost eight hours after spraying. Now to bite the bullet and pony up for the high price tag.

Raspberry liquor, marshmallows, violets..a bit of face powder smell. 100% girly and chic, but at the same time refined this is not your run of the mill gourmand. I agree with the comparisons to la petite robe noire and insolence but the berry accord here is dominant. This is very soft and well behaved. It somehow reminds me of Ruby Woo by MAC (without the leather accord) but of course Guerlain is way more elegant and sophisticated, if you have a chance compare these two.

The opening is very very similar to Insolence EDP even though Insolence opening is fresher, but that only lasts 15 minutes max... after FK dries down different from Insolence. They have the same kind of vibe in the dry down but Insolence is a warm candied violet where FK is a sweet powdery dreamy violet, addictive and more refined. Remember those candy lipstick ? This is what the heavenly dry down smells like 😍😍

I wait in vain for the day that I can finally purchase a full bottle of this beauty, as we don't have a Guerlain store here. I only have a sample bottle which I've sparingly tested over the last 2 years as I don't know if I can ever get another. After smelling French Kiss, everything else just seems dull in comparion. Might need to find a dupe that can fulfil that void until such a time.

I feel like I am surrounded by a sweet candy cloud of raspberries and violets and powder! This is beautiful and flirty and fruity. It's like Airspun powder with berries and violets. I LOVE makeup scents (Misia, Love Chloe, etc) and this is another fantastic one. Got a bottle for a steal (relatively) and I am so excited!

Stunningly beautiful raspberry-cherry-rose-vanilla composition. Extremely fleeting. Normally fragrances last well on me, much longer than on other people, but this one lasts only about 1 hour. Also extremely expensive. I want to cut the price by at least half, and make it last at least twice as long.

Smells very doll head to me. Plastic powdery floral fruity. Beautiful really. I don’t find the similarity to lipstick on but I do love this offering none the less. It’s feminine and soft. I feel it’s a safe blind buy. It’s not offensive and has enough in it to appeal to most. Very glad I got it!

Love at first sniff. Immediate vision of raspberry red lipstick and makeup, getting ready to do go out for the night, dressed in high fem glam, hair spray and makeup and girliness everywhere. An absolute delight. Happiness and anticipation in a bottle.

Absolutely wonderful! Warm and comforting, and a bit of a cherry vibe to it. Very nice! You can order this from the Guerlain store in Toronto and they deliver all over North America, and it's cheaper than on EBAY. I'm saving up, it's worth the cost.

I thought this would be too light for my tastes. However, My nose keeps going to the back of my hand to catch another whiff. Amazing fruity powder fragrance! Delicious is an understatement.

Is this already discontinued ? 😭😭😱 My bottle is running low and I got caught offguard... I hate chasing bottles on the second hand market...never know how it has been stored and preserved 😢

Kiss the girl! This fragrance is all about love. Very feminine, sexy and bold. Powdery composition for romantic girls. If you miss about it you can test similar Rose Cherie.

Yum! This one reminds me of a pink popsicle. Full of soft, fluffy pink powder and berries. It's sweet and cuddly, wears very close to the skin. Cute and girly.

A powdery, sugar coated raspberry dreamy kiss. Lovely lingering lasting power...as all perfect kisses should feel. Simply lovely.

Fruity face powder. Soft feminine fragrance. Lovely! fbw if not for the price and difficulty in procuring for me here in NZ. -

Yummy, fun, gently fruity, floral soft. It is slightly candy like without being cloying. Dries down to a warm powdery musk.

Bring this one back, because Rose Cherie doesn’t do it.

For the day that's in it (Valentine's Day), I decided to seek out the most on-theme perfume in my collection that I have yet to review. This resulted in me choosing my sample of French Kiss from Guerlain's Les Elixirs Charnels line. This is a sugary sweet, ultra-girly scent that for me, is the essence of Valentine's Day, bottled. This fruity, syrupy, rose cocktail also fittingly has a lipstick-like accord at the heart. The liquid itself could only be pink. FK takes inspiration from various perfumes. Different facets of FK remind me of two modern Guerlain scents - La Petite Robe Noire (sweet cherries/red berries) and my beloved Insolence (red berries and powdery violet). It also has shades of the great YSL Paris, but more resembles her immature daughter. FK has a very sweet, fruity opening, with a prominent raspberry note. The lychee adds a light tropical sweetness. It smells like cherry liqueur/cherry-flavoured lozenges. It is quite syrupy, but not unpleasant. The fruity notes subside fairly quickly, giving way to a sweet violet-rose accord. It is powdery and reminiscent of vintage lipstick, drawing obvious parallels between this and the likes of FM Lipstick Rose, or MM Lipstick On. Orris root creeps in, balancing out the sweetness while enhancing the powdery effect. Surprisingly restrained vanilla emerges as it dries down, and it is less sweet here, smooth, floral and powdery as it fades to a sweet musky skin scent. Sillage is initially strong, but ultimately moderate, while longevity is moderate, fading after 4-5 hours. While it is too immature and sweet for my taste, FK is better than I expected (not to underestimate Guerlain-level quality). Nicer than many other sickly sweet offerings aimed at teenagers that are on the market at the moment, it is a pity it has been discontinued. Ultra-feminine, youthful and sweet, this is pretty good, but I will stick to Lipstick Rose or YSL Paris. 3/5.

Oh, what a perfect fragrance. The epitome of sweet, soft, and ladylike. A beautifully innocent, alluring, uplifting scent. I see the comparisons often made between French Kiss & Frederic Malle's Lipstick Rose - it is the less floral, more fruity, half the power version of that type of scent. Something more whimsical and fairy-like, while Lipstick Rose is a fierce, sexy, femme fatale in a bottle. French Kiss may be her younger, fairy princess sister. The opening of this perfume is honestly a gentle, sweet powder puff. Violet, litchi, and raspberry in a gentle veil of vanilla. It begins, lives, and dies as a skin-scent, never really projecting very far away from the body. There is a slight lipstick vibe to this, but veers away from being overly powdery. A dreamy scent, one that feels like silk & mimics the excitement and comfort of being in love. I love the atmosphere that Guerlain gives their fragrances... something so ethereal, complex, well-blended & unique in each one! You will *probably* love French Kiss if you enjoy Shalimar Parfum Initial, Gourmand Coquin, any of the Insolence line, or any of the Petit Robe Noire line. Best uses: Tea parties, your whimsical wedding day, star-gazing, being in love. **My one complaint that is stopping this scent from being Full-bottle worthy is the longevity. After 4-5 hours, there's nothing left to smell unless you are pressing your nose completely against your skin. I don't have any other issues with longevity with the Guerlains in this line, so perhaps it's a skin chemistry thing, or the base notes aren't grippy enough! Regardless, it's a shame!!

Ooh! la! la! I'm tickled pink as a poached salmon Provencal; to finally test French Kiss. It is destingue tre' recherche by certain Fragranticians; upon who's unfailing, impeccable taste you may rely. I've been wearing this addition to the Collection Elixirs Charnel; or Carnal Elixers, exclusively, for three days; and have just now reapplied for the purpose of this review. This could be considered "Carnal" only in it's resemblance to candied bon=bons and the like; colorful, dainty treats a body might crave; and/or; deem as "forbidden fruit". It may inspire "visions of sugarplums;" yet French Kiss is not for children. This perfume is fit for a queen; and it would be made joyous on Diana. Like The Peoples Princess - French Kiss is utterly; bewitchingly, infinitely, CHARMING. I make this assertion even as one who holds "très peu d'amour" for the purple hued flower in all its variations and forms. The heliotrope + violet feature prominently here and are fundamental to the composition. I have not been fortunate enough to discern rose as a note, though I'm told it is in there. I do, however, perceive an almond accord; especially in the opening stage; when it resembles nothing more than the after dinner cordial- Amaretto di Soranno. I learned that The bottle's glass is pink, not the perfume inside which is almost colorless. French Kiss is subtle and wears elegantly close to the skin a short time after it's ambrosial opening. It never offends; and, as one assured of their noble birth, never shouts.

French Kiss is so very sweet, pink and girly. If this was a piece of clothing, it would be something delicate with lace and ruffles, even though the scent is not soft but intense. It is powdery, but not as much as I expected. I get something lipstick-like, but not like an old-timey waxy lipstick, more like a fruity one with hints of rose and iris. The rest of the fragrance makes me think of a crystal glass jar full of raspberry hard candies with powdered vanilla sugar and violet pastilles. In the beginning there is also a short phase of heliotrope taking over and making it smell very almondy. There's generally a lot of developement and changing between powdery, fruity, sweet and floral aspects. At times this is a bit too much of a sugary dreamy romantic cloud for me, almost too sweet, though never cheap and sickly. Then the next moment I think it's truely beautiful again. The longer it's on my skin, the more I like it. But to get an expensive 75 ml bottle, this is not 'me' enough, if that makes any sense, and not also very versatile. I wouldn't say no to a sample or a 15 ml travel size (if they ever made one) though. It's lovely, in the truest sense of the word. PS: I don't get the comparison to Lipstick On, they're in the same scent category, but otherwise completely different to me.

One two, buckle your shoe.....three, four, shut the door, five, six....pick up sticks. Three six nine, the goose drank the wine. Jumping rope, hop scotch, warm days, youth when the world was wide open and not full of danger. You just enjoyed your penny candy, and your lolly pop and later ran home before it got too dark out, lest you be scolded. You could smell Mommy's or Nanny's lipstick and face powder, because back then, that is all they wore (well clothes too, haha). Yes, this reminds me of my youth. Although I was never that rich to smell this good with a French perfume, no no. This opens with all the fizz pops, fruits and smells of the era of youth for me, 60's. I do smell lipstick in here, indeed, and I like it! I'm not sure I would buy this if it were lined up with all the other Guerlain, but since I have it, I probably wear this next spring into summer. The dry down is much more sophisticated. I own it, and will enjoy it. I doubt that I would repurchase. I can't say to longevity or anything because I only sprayed a small amount on my hand. It's really different, do try to give her a whirl if you can. It sorta does remind me of my first french kiss :D

I received a sample of French Kiss today and I was excited to try it as I just love the name! Mmm I smell a blast of fizzy sherbet, cherries and raspberry on initial spray. Quite powdery to start off with too. Two minutes into it, the vanilla & heliotrope come out mixing nicely with the red berries. There is a very soft hint of floral somewhere in the background but I would not call this a floral scent that's for sure. This is quite delicious and very well blended. It does start out quite medicinal and strong but it does tone down a lot. I wouldn't call it a complex scent rather a sweet, juicy lolly scent for grown ups! It kind of reminds me of a lolly I used to have when I was a kid, you know the bright red ones that we used to use as lipstick, well it reminds me of that juicy lolly, it smells just the same. I think the name suits the fragrance, it is a fun and youthful scent. It does become quite soft and silage is not the best, but I would totally wear this when I'm feeling a little young & girly ;) It smells just like a sweet red cherry lollypop, the price tag is a bit much for that imo.

I had to decide which Guerlain fragrance to buy at DJ’s last week. It was either French Kiss or Angélique Noire. I won’t bore you with my review of the latter because I have already posted that on the appropriate page, and since I am not made of money, I had to limit myself to one or the other fragrance. On to FK, The very helpful sales assistant gave me a 5 ml sample to keep, and sprayed my arm with French Kiss using that hopeless bulb pump that emits the most pathetic mist of fragrance. This was the first time I had tried it, and I know that writing a review after the first sampling really isn’t a worthy one, however, I am being self indulgent and putting down my first impressions. Cherry flavoured cough medicine with bubble gum and a violet lipstick scent. Some fruit brings on the sweetness, it lasts reasonably well but it reminds me somewhat of an expensive lolly (sweet/candy). If I had to spend a similar amount on a fragrance with a vintage lipstick vibe, I think Frederic Malle’s Lipstick Rose is still my choice and the right one for me.

What happens when a wallop of candied berries makes a love child with frederick malle's lipstick rose? You get Guerlain French Kiss! It's sweet, a little bit tart/sourish, and has that sweet powdery vanilla-violet-rose combo that reminds me of makeup. I mostly agree with the current note pyramid, I think lychee, raspberry, and vanilla are the strongest. However I think the violet & rose are definitely present I wouldn't say they are hidden in the background. I don't really get a blast or orris root either, although it's there. This fragrance is pretty linear but it's quite a bit more fruity in the very beginning, I also like the dry down better than the initial spray. I have a 5 mL spray, was debating on getting a bottle. I am going to be passing this one up though because I don't really love how synthetically fruity this is. For lychee I prefer Miss Charming by Juliette has a Gun, and I ultimately would rather wear Lipstick Rose that reminds me so much of this. This is nice, but not my favorite.
