Guerlain Idylle Duet Jasmin-Lilas

I could test this new idylle in Switzerland. I simply fell in love! The focus here is all about jasmin with a crown of lilas, but it's not your usual springtime floral and that's all. I think that many years Samsara and after Jasminora, eventually Guerlain came out with a true fresh yet indolic jasmin to put my brain on my heels. Flanker? maybe, but with a good reason to exist. I'm now a long term Idylle wearer as I had been many years before with Samsara. I wear regular Idylle EdP and I love EdT too. I don't care for Eau Sublime. I swooned for first Duet Rose&Patchoili and I'm swooning now for new Duet Jasmin& Lilas. It seems that I need alternatively a rose-based or a jasmin-based fragrance in my life, but not a flat kind of rose and jasmin. I love this complex scents. This Duet Jasmin& Lilas fuses with my skin and it is so much "me": strongly floral with a soft musky base :-) What really strikes me here is that Duet so strongly reminds me of something of the past. It really has a vibe of old jasmin ladies perfume with a good dose of indolic jasmin, revised in a modern way in Duet. We are not used to strong indolic jasmin nowadays. That smells dirty, like... well, poo&soil? Not a nice idea, I know, but these definitions should be taken like adjectives given to wines. The jasmin in Duet is extremely fresh, cold and uplifting with an indolic back-feeling. It remains so on my skin for at least one hour of pure joy and pleasure. Fresh and erotic jasmin surronded by a soft cloud of lilac. I found that lilac gives a special radiance to perfumes and enhances the performance of other flowers. It smells like wisteria purple-blue hanging flowers that blooms around Eastertime. This is a note that reminds me of EA 5th Avenue, a much cheaper perfume which smells lovely and feminine. After a while Duet becomes more tamed and elegant, a little bit in the line of first Carolina Herrera, but in a Guerlain way. In 4 words: I am in love. I would have bought it straight there, but it was so expensive and I still have a big FB of Idylle EdP and I would like to buy EdT... It was about ChF 131, which is 108 euro or 142 US$ for 50ml! The bad, very bad new for me is the LE matter, why???? I hate, hate, hate when Guerlain discontinue beautiful scents! This means that I can be in love with Duet only for one year and only if I can afford it this year. I don't like this policy. The Guerlain quality has worsened since glorious past. The regular version of new scents are often flatter, then they come out with a suppposed "flanker" that actaully smells better than regular and costs double (as if I could pile up for years to come, haha!). This is just marketing and I don't like this way of teasing customers who are not simply customers but true perfume lovers.

Others have described the fragrance so well: soft, delicate, romantic, classy and gorgeous amongst other adjectives, and I agree wholeheartedly! I would also like to throw in dewy (in its opening and middle). It’s like lilac rainfall and I’m head over heels in love with it. Usually I don’t go for florals but this has been an eye opener for me. I got this fragrance through a swap and I had no idea what to expect since I hadn’t tried it before but I’m just so impressed. Even though it’s a rather light fragrance (relatively), it lasts so long and has pretty good projection as well. I put it on 8 am and now it’s 8 pm and I can still smell the floral muskiness, although rather faintly, but still. The dry down is however not as interesting as the opening :) I’ve seen some bottles around on eBay but for insane prices, and I don’t know if it’s really worth it...if you’re rich then yes why not hehe but if you’re on a budget like me, you can probably live without it even though it is splendid and the best lilac I’ve ever tried.

Idylle Duet is my favourite Idylle! Strong rose strong jasmin with honey sweetness (as oppose to fruity or chocolate sweetness)and a bit of wood. Big sillage and decent longevity on me. Perfect for any seasons and weather but i would say it suits warm springtime the best becuase of it's sparking floral notes! Too bad it is a limited edition. I discover that Idylle EDT has some resemblence of Idylle Duet. Actually i find Idylle EDT a combination of Idylle Duet and Idylle Sublime in different stages of its development. I have brought several Duet neverthelss, for sometimes i want to enjoy the pure simple sparking sweet rose and jasmin for some 4 to 6 hours. p.s. the golden bottle is so beautiful under a warm lighting. I am madly in love with this. On me, it may be one of the best lilac mimics I've ever worn, which is a holy grail scent because of the instant joy it evokes. It sits atop lovely jasmine--not too heady, but still vibrant. It's perfectly supported by the wood/rose and just a touch of the green notes. I feel sublime wearing it: powerfully feminine. The mood it creates is flirty on my own terms, rather than a dark and sultry sexy. If it were a woman, she would have very polished, dewy skin and flush cheeks; sheer, shimmering lips; fluffy, full lashes with a perfect curl accentuating nude and glossy lids; sleek hair; a gauzy spring dress that skims the body; and delicate necklace disappearing into her bosom.

This is complex, beautifully so. Typically Guerlain in that there are so very many layers of notes all coming in and out of your nose's radar. I bought this searching for the elusive lilac. For jasminophobes, this will not upset your sensibilities as the jasmine is quite subtle and does not overpower the gentle lilac. In fact, the whole thing is gentle all the way through. It's not that far removed from the standard Idylle EDT as you move into the heart of the fragrance. If you can't find the duet now it's discontinued, the EDT would suffice. The EDP is an entirely different scent, more focused on the rose.

The original Idylle was definitely not my thing, but it wore beautifully on my younger daughter. I saw this version which includes Jasmine and lilac, and after reading the reviews here, thought I should give it a go. It was pretty reasonably priced, and I after wearing it for the first time today, I had to admit I am glad I bought it. This is a cool fragrance without being citrusy - it’s perfect spring weather wear, there’s a white floral freshness without the heaviness. I think I will be wearing this often now that we’re heading into summer in this part of the world. Scent 4/5 Sillage 4/5 Longevity 4/5

the idylle line is so elegant & lovely......very classic line - this is a fav in the line for me - the description doesnt say anything about powdery but on me it has a beautiful powdery scent to it - the lilac in this scent is to die for - so beautifully blended.............. its also a very calming & comforting :) its funny cuz the description says green & white floral - i get no green on me & white florals on me tend to be sharp or strong - not a bad thing at all but in this perfume the white floral is very soft :) u cant go wrong with guerlain - their perfumes are master pieces :)

I liked the original but this one i prefer. very pretty spring floral. the lilac is balanced with the jasmine perfectly. if you want a heady floral this is it. I

I've been hunting high and low for a beautiful, true-to-nature and long-lasting lilac scent, but that would also have the complexity of a perfume and not a mere smell. Of all those I have tested, this Guerlain Idylle's limited edition remains the best lilac offering in my opinion. It doesn't turn soapy and grassy like Ineke's After My Own Heart, it doesn't go light and watery like FM's En Passant, it doesn't smell chemical and synthetic like most mainstream fragrances and it doesn't lose its lilac character on the way, like other niche I have tested. Idylle Duet Jasmin-Lilas is a lovely floral perfume for spring and warm weather, although I've worn it on a snowy winter's day and it was surprisingly gorgeous in the cold air as well. The lilac is the most prominent note, but you can sense the jasmine, rose and lily-of-the-valley in the background. The floral bouquet has the trademark Guerlain aura of expensive elegance, including a powdery texture that takes away some of the freshness, replacing it with a classy, more mature vibe. In my experience the lasting power is more than sufficient, with 10+ hours of olfactory pleasure. Sillage is soft and discreet. Unfortunately it was a limited edition and is now increasingly difficult to find. Perhaps it wasn't as successful as Guerlain had hoped, but as far as I am concerned, it's a lilac dream.

Name speaks for itself, its a Duet of two different flowers on base of a standard Idylle. It's definitely created for spring time, as everyone knows how fresh and green lilacs smell at first. Until they don't stay in your vase for over 5-6 hours. Then indolic nuances appearing and taking over the freshness. Well, In Duet, lilacs are kept fresh all the way, in fantastic harmony of the whole white cluster with heart-shaped leaves of rich green colour. Little star jasmine adds certain depth, as its a night flower, it also makes composition optimistic and alert. Overall, beautiful clean romantic floral, very well-lasting and easy to enjoy by yourself and those who lucky to be around.

First impressions. Pretty, inoffensive, light- reminiscent of a less interesting version of Champs Elysees. If there's Jasmine there I can barely smell it. Very feminine, wearable, a bit dull, and not me. ETA: my mother really likes this, but she loves the smell of lilacs. So I would probably recommend it for people who want an uncomplicated perfume that smells of lilacs.

A very lush and full bouquet of lilacs and jasmin, punctuated by a rose or two (that I can actually wear!!!). It is sweet and heady. Not sweet in a crunchy, granulated sugar way, but more of a smooth, simple syrup added to a drink, kind of way. Love this one, and got a bottle inexpensively from F'net. Perfect for spring, if you like lilacs.

So delicate and lovely. Soft musk, dainty jasmine and rose. A relaxed, uncomplicated, quiet fragrance. One would imagine perhaps a Victorian era lady collecting fragrant flowers in a windy field. It's lovely, like a classical painting. Beautiful, but missing something. Not quite my style, or strength. Gorgeous nonetheless. 7/10

Beautiful, gentle, realistic and natural lilac top notes floating above the jasmine. Unfortunately it doesn't last on my skin for more than about an hour. Love it but am disappointed with the staying power.

Gorgeous lilac dancing with jasmine, but I wish its longevity was better because the pretty floral opening fades quickly into a generic boring musk.

Guerlain Idylle Duet Jasmin Lilas is essentially what the name suggests; Idylle with a floral twist of jasmine and lilac. Lilas means lilac when translated from French, and is not to be confused with lily. It's quite a fresh scent, with the floral accords being rather dewy, green and soft. One of my dear friends suggested that I should try it, so I did, and while it's not something that I would personally buy, I do find it rather pretty and elegant. The opening tends to smell watery and crisp on my skin. In the initial stages, I did find this fragrance a little bland, however the more it settles, the prettier it in turn becomes. The heart is a smooth and delicate blend of sweet, indolic jasmine and slightly powdery lilac. The rose is also present, however it is much more subdued than it is in the original Idylle. At this stage in the composition, I would recommend Idylle Duet Jasmin Lilas for Spring and Summer. I learnt to appreciate this fragrance more once I reached the drydown. The base has a gorgeous and sensual floral muskiness, which concludes this scent perfectly. I was most pleased that the lasting strength was good enough to allow me the enjoyment of the drydown for a few good hours. I unfortunately never got around to testing the first Idylle Duet flanker, but I must say that I am most impressed with this one. I recommend.

I smelled it at the airport: its a light scent yet sort of "sharp" with Jasmine & lily - i cant recall if the usual duet base was there underneath, if it was it didnt seem to work well. Its a bit of a miss for me - there are plenty other Jasmine & lily perfumes out there that are more my taste. . It somehow isn't rounded, as though its missing something. but i didn't give it chance to settle and warm up, I wiped it off :( Update : ok so I tried it again and I didn't like it., still sharp smells sort of synthetic to me. Gave it to my mum, and it smells lovely on her!, like warmed up honey & lily, pretty white floral blend. P.s Duet Rose-Patchouli was the best perfume - i am so sad they don't continue to make that.

I trust Guerlain always. You find some complicated perfume shallow in spite of dozens of notes.However, Guerlain express depth and quality of vintage just with five or six notes from top to base together. Guerlain's rose and jasmine are for real. True essence of the floral, soul of flowers.Spirit of perfume This duet is beautiful, modest and polished. Nothing sharp or loud. If's for lady in nice dress and good mood. Sophisticated in a pure way. Best work is made of most ordinary material. Rose, Jasmine, Lilac, musk, woody. However it's divine.

I like the original Idylle but Idylle Duet came through as a mild cologne on me. The cedar and musk was all I got. Very, very muted and almost non-existent floral. With that first spray I immediately thought of cologne/after shave and thought I had made a mistake. I had to come here to confirm if it is actually for women. It's nice, it's a mild scent and isn't overwhelming. It is just quite masculine on me. After the gorgeous burst of lilacs from Champs Elysses yesterday, this is just not going to cut it.

Still in the discounters relatively cheap....however this one hasn't blown my socks off. I get a good whiff of jasmine but very little cool sweet lilac. I do however read it as nice, and could be a first evening fume for a young girl, it has that serious Guerlain quality edging in. Odd that the woodsy notes come off as so woodsy abstract generic, a bit of a decent sandalwood nuance would make this beautiful. My favourite lilacs are En Passant and the Ineke one.

Well Idylle family are one of the most famous Guerlain women scents. Duet Jasmin-Lilas flanker is like too much sweet honey Jasmin. Simple, sweet, floral & without any complicated structure or smell. Its performance absolutely made for formal wearing during spring/fall. Totally I prefer Idylle while seems as soft bouquet of white flowers which has beautiful soapy dry down.

Idylle Duet Jasmin–Lilas by Guerlain is quite an old fragrance now, and definitely one for a particular taste. The mix of jasmine and lilac is elegant but distinctive soft yet slightly sharp. It has that classic Guerlain character that some will love and others may find too refined. A graceful scent with a nostalgic charm, best appreciated by true perfume lovers.

today i smell it in Baghdad and i find it rather sharp smell not like the soft smell of Dior jaddor or pure poison which all got the floral and white one lovely smell which is my favorite to wear by lovely women

Too soapy and medicinal.. Nothing like the original or Eau Sublime, which is my favorite in this line of flankers.. I can smell neither jasmin, nor lilies.. Not worth the money definitely :(

If they come out new version for every year, in the end they will increase the price for all their fragrance every year to cope with the development cost.

duet = 2 notes. that's why the name was given ?i don t think there are only 2 notes in it but 2 additional notes to the original formula maybe. :)

Just discovered this and it's wonderful. Delicately persistent, yet light and long lasting.
