Guerlain L'Instant Magic Elixir

I love the House of Guerlain. I mean, I love it so much I need it running through my veins all the time, IV delivery! I have had the regular (not so regular) L'Instant and loved it. Really loved it. Then after reading about Magic Elixir I was lucky enough to get informed there were some left, heard it was being discontinued. I got a small bottle, 50ml, I suppose. Wow, okay, I love a few fragrances that are so different compared from one to another, nothing really similar. This one felt like it owned my soul from a million years ago. It is me, it was me, it will always transport me to the most calming Shangri la. I went as crazy as buying three bottles of this, one being the huge bee bottle. I am not at all sorry. I am giving it a rest right now as I go through some Chanel LE line, which are gorgeous as well. Oh, do read the notes and others experiences with Guerlain Magic Elixir that others are having as well. I really hope this is not being discontinued. It is one that I would love to have in my arsenal forever. I do believe that Heaven has to give these perfumers noses to create such masterpieces for us to have when we transition from the flesh to the spirit. I even lift the lid every now and again when not using and am reminded that this is a masterpiece. On me anyways. I would suggest you get a sample. I would steer clear of Ebay buying a big bottle too. Unless the sellers ratings are good. For a little more, just go to Neiman's for it. It is pure magical, hum, hence the name. It's not sexy, it it not a beach fragrance full of coconut. I do like a eclectic collection, but there are those top 5-10 masterpieces and this is one of them. Oh, I would suggest to get a small sample and try it. Just my two cents at the end of the evening. It leaves a wonderful smell on your clothes too! I say save your pennies and get a bottle, it your skin and hormones dance well together, then you're a lucky girl if Magic plays well with you. Such a beautiful comforting fragrance. Masterpiece again by the House of Guerlain!

Dang, I was really hoping this one wouldn't be as good as people say. I was really hoping I would think "oh, well, it's nice I guess, but the rarity of it certainly makes it overhyped". Nope. It's great. It's really fucking great, and practically impossible to find. Fuuuuu. It's a wonderful floraly marzipan, impossibly elegant. I have smelled a whole bunch of almond fragrances and none of them smell like this, it is unique. There is something fresh about it, almost citrusy. It sure sounds like it would pack a punch, but at the same time it is very airy and spacious, I'd never get a headache from this. I have met my unicorn, finally, and part of me wishes I hadn't, because it is unlikely I will ever have a larger quantity of this one. Still, most of me is delighted at finally smelling this masterpiece of perfumery. EDIT: My SO, who never compliments me on fragrance and prefers when I wear as little of it as possible, just spontaneously smelled the shoulder where I sprayed this and expressed a positive opinion without being prompted. This is a miracle.

Well, finally I get to tick this one off of my "want" list. It took me 6 years to finally get a bottle, I don't think in all this time I ever saw it for sale anywhere online. Unicorn, in the true meaning of the word. I wore it yesterday, and it is really something. I have the old formulation of the original EDP and the Magic, but Elixir is instantly recognizable as a stand-alone flanker. I was afraid that it will be too much like EDP, but this is something otherworldly, really special. Due to its rarity, I don't think I will wear it much (because I truly expect to live 328 years before I drop dead), but I can't even describe how thrilled I am to have it in my possession. I think Guerlain should bring this one back. I just want to mention that even though Magic Elixir is an amazing powdery bomb, it still doesn't beat the Loukhoum for me; that one is still my number one powdery fume and it always will be.

L'Instant Magic Elixir is a great creation, I purchased in dark and I am in no way disappointed. It slightly reminds me of Covet by Sarah Jessica Parker. It possesses that sweet green twist that Covet is well known for. And I am not saying this to underestimate the great job the L'instant Magic Elixir nose did, as I personally consider Covet a work of art. L'Instant Magic Elixir has more depth but both, Covet and LME share similar feel and dimension. I see myself wearing Covet for a day at office and ''topping it up'' with L'Instant Magic Elixir for an evening out with my husband. Covet suits office environment a bit more while L'Instant Magic Elixir would give you a touch of luxury. What I love so much about L'Instant Magic Elixir is a smooth almond note. LME is a lovely sensual creation, it is a shame that such an excellent fragrance is so hard to find...

To my nose, this is Guerlain's answer to Montale's Mukhallat and Keiko Mecheri's Loukhoum. My nose also tells me that it's a bit closer to unisex than most would like to mention. This blends into my skin perfectly, giving me a balance between a floral woody musk and a gourmand. Not too sweet, not too floral. On my skin, the almonds and vanilla in L'Instant Magic Elixir trump Montale's Mukhallat and the orchid note is presented far better than in Black Orchid, where it's smothered. A guy with confidence and the right fashion coordination could pull this one off effortlessly. P.S. - I'm sure that it's gorgeous on the right woman, too. :D

This one sorrounds me like a soft, sober and elegant whisper. Warm and female. I like it a lot. This scent stays close to the person who wears it, next person have to stand close to smell this wonderful scent. I really love that kind of perfumes- a scent that is there around you but not loud. Den här omringar mig som en mjuk, sober och elegant viskning. Varm och kvinnlig, jag gillar den rejält. Denna doften stannar nära den personen som bär den, nästa person måste stå nära för att känna denna härliga doft. Jag gillar verkligen den typen av parfymer. Nära, mjuka men ändå tydliga dofter.

They share many notes and similarities with L'Instant Magic, upon first spritz, it is hard to tell which one you are smelling. But after a while L'Instant Magic becomes more and more powdery, but L'Instant Magic Elixir takes a creamier and warmer turn.. It becomes sweet in a good way, vanilla & marzipan accords are not overly gourmand, it is so well balanced. This one is warmer and comfortable. I prefer this to L'Instant Magic which is a bit cold, dusty and distant for me. This is a perfect job from Guerlain, I wish It was not so expensive...

I hate when they do LE. Loathe it entirely. Gggrr...Rooooaaarrr. Glad I bought a huge Bee Bottle, but have gone through many of the smaller bottles, rather quick too I might add, because it is addictive to me too! Believe me when I say, I have too many fragrances, and there are a few "la te da's" that many would just skim past. But every time I wear this, I get compliments galore. This and Guerlain Asian Brulant, they discontinued, bad bad Guerlain. Are you listening, reading!!! Sigh.... Please reconsider baby.....

I've received the parfum this morning and I can easily say this one is stunning! Thankfully it does bear no resemblance to original L'Instant, which I really hate :( This one is so beautiful and after dry down on my skin it smells like oriental floral than floral woody musk. But oriental character isn't too dominant, isn't overwhelming. Surely, you must try it first on your skin before buy it, but I didn't and I'm not regretful indeed :)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhr this is also one of my faves in this past winter 09... hmmm very almondy milky in the top then becomes more flowery (ORCHID) with a warm depth, sweet(VANILLA) but not sticky... delicious and definitively with a sexy understatement! i think this is a perfect scent for autumn and winter, daytime or evening, it always works for me. little bit expensiv though :(

I first tried this at the airport, instant hit, I bought an 80ml bottle and the only thing I regret now is that it has all gone and I so desperately want some more. Warm creamy almonds, vanilla but not too overpowering or sickly, slight gentle orchid notes, nothing is too sweet. A warm sophisticated scent.

I'm totally obsessed with Guerlain L `Instant Magic Elixir Guerlain. It's so soft, cream , aromatic. For me Elixir is much, much better version of Guerlain L `Instant Magic. Simply amazing.

When was this discontinued? I have approx 15 ml left in a 50ml bottle. I searched the batch code and it said it's from Dec 2018. Love it though - but I only use one, tiny spritz.

Smells like old nivea wet wipes meet baby skin and i love it! More like lotion to me than a perfume. It's so soothing and calming. I wear it before i go to sleep.

Unlike the last reviews of Elixir L'instant Magic, I don't find it sexy at all. It is very feminine in a girly way,like a nice body lotion mixed with your skin that smells great and lasts a long time. And I do not mean this in a bad way. So many times I liked a body creme and thought "oh I wish it could be a perfume, so I can smell it throughout the day!". This is L'instant Magic Elixir. It is very powdery, which I like, not exactly sweet but not bitter. It has the quality of Guerlain, imo, much more than L'instant original, it is the one modern Guerlain that I like. I think it is versatile,maybe more suitable for summer. Once again, I am gonna say that the one feature that I like in this perfume is that it is a perfume without smelling like a perfume. And what is more interesting is that the one time I put it on, everybody seems to treat me in a different way, like a princess and I am not jocking! It adds to you something subtle and discrete without overpassing you... it is magic alright! P.S. I wanna thank all of you reviewers and NathaliEz(With whom I did the swap, thank you very much for letting me know this treasure) because I blindly accept to swap my perfume to this and I did not regret it!

I finally managed to get a decant of this a couple weeks ago (Arcanescents ~ lovely lady, has quite a few of the older Guerlains, but she only sells a enough to justify the cost of her obsession, lol. So if you see one on her site, grab it bc I waited a bit too long on another and she sold her last decant of it. No amount of begging on my part would change her mind🥲) bc I was considering buying blind. It truly is lovely. It is similar to L'Instant Magic, but where it goes very powdery to my nose, this goes creamier. The floral note is a bit different too. I guess it's the fantasy note of the orchid, but it could just as well be something else they aren't listing here. I'd say it's about 75% the same as LIM, but the other 25% really makes for a lovely experience. I was only able to get about 1.5 ml, all she had left to sell, but I had to transfer over to a spray decant so I didn't have a lot to test. I would say this shouldn't be a blind buy bc I know wherever your'e going to find, it will be expensive, and there are a lot of not so honest sellers out there. A strong like, but not love at the prices being asked.

After testing L'instatn Magic and L'instant Magic Elixir side by side I found them very close but there are some differences too. Elixir's opening is bittersweet and rather boozy, almost amaretto-like. The EDP's opening is more aethereal and sparkling with citrus and anise. The rest of the development is focused on almond and semi-sweet vanilla for both but the EDP becomes increasingly powdery towards the drydown as the iris comes forth while the Elixir goes towards a creamier direction although there are powdery elements in it too. Both of them are discreet, comfy scents, mostly linear and rather romantic. In a nutshell Elixir is warmer, oilier, leaning towards gourmand while the EDP is a bit softer, cooler and totally inedible. If you are an almond fan you are in for a treat with Elixir and although the EDP hasn't reached the same legendary status yet its graceful presence is not inferior in the least.

I figure I should review this one while I can remember it (and based on my own notes). This is lovely, there is no doubt. It is also undoubtedly Guerlain at first sniff. I like it very much. However, I do not adore it as much as I anticipated given the hype and extreme prices now. It's just a very nice, pretty Guerlain scent that will make Guerlain junkies go bananas, but the rest of us might just enjoy it for what it is. I think others in this line can compare for much less money. It came off of my want list after I tested it. However, as is the habit of Guerlain, it could just as easily go right back onto my want list with another sniff. That's just sort of how this house works for me.

Amaretto opening transforms into powder and powder transforms into creamy warmth... So cozy, so deep and warm. Every note of this perfume compliments the other, especially almond. Lasting power is great, this beauty stays with the person who wears it all day long. However it stays close to skin. It is like a magic but other people need to come close to see it.

Liked this one more than the normal L'instant magic. Like that the vanilla note is more powerful in this one. Its still sold in swedish stores, but Im not really sure if its a buy or not. Its pretty expensive in the normal shops, and yes, its hard to find online.
