Habit Rouge Spirit

First impressions : just tested this morning on my skin and although it is undeniably well made, I am quite puzzled by this new release. Let me explain. I am very much into Guerlain fragrances (I own a lot of them), very much into their HR line too (I own and use EDT, EDP, Parfum, Rouge Privé on a regular basis, and I love them all). HR Spirit is downright lovable too, it is true to the awesome typical Guerlain vanilla-powdery accord and to the fantastic HR DNA, of which it is a warmer interpretation. Its main issue for me is that it sits a bit too close to HR Parfum, although with some differences in the opening and the mid drydown. Nutmeg is present but with no harshness, well integrated, à la Guerlain. Sure it smells a bit more fresh, woody and dry than HR Parfum during those phases, but the far drydowns of both are very similar on my skin. They share a strong and rich vanilla base, which I find very comforting. It seems to me that HR Spirit goes to some extent in Shalimar EDT's direction which is more floral but with which it shares that distinct powerful vanilla-powdery accord and that airiness. I also own and wear Shalimar, and would advise any adventurous male to try this one ;) All in all, I am questioning the point of releasing another flanker, yet so interchangeable with HR Parfum, 12 months down the line. 60th anniversary? Why not, that may be the main selling point. Sure if offers different nuances, but not by that much, and it is also significantly more expensive than HR Parfum. Too many flankers, too close to each other, can be confusing (same issue with the l'Homme Idéal line). Maybe my favourite perfumer could have released something more groundbreaking this time, or created a completely new fragrance to keep us hooked ;) If HR Parfum had not existed, it could have been a no brainer, since it is without any doubt a lovely fragrance. Want a more cost-efficient warmer variation of HR and a better performance? Try HR Parfum. Want a nice addition to your already long collection? Get HR Spirit, or better yet HR Rouge Privé if you still can find one ;) My favourites from the Habit Rouge line : ***** EDT, Rouge Privé **** Parfum, Spirit *** EDP Edit : ended up buying it before it gets discontinued, definitely wanted that nice addition to my HR collection 😂

I got this on Friday and have been wearing this over the last three days or so. Right off the bat it does remind me of the 2024 Habit Rouge Parfum, but to me that similarity goes away rather quickly. I find that the Parfum version projects much more strongly while Spirit feels much more intimate to me. Spirit does have presence, but to me it is much less sharp than Parfum, and is also less sweet. There is definitely a touch of citrus at the top. I get a tangerine vibe with a bit of the lemon from the EDT, and I'm sure there is bergamot as well. The oak is present from the start and I feel like it's the star of the show. I get a very boozy vibe very quickly into the wear, more so than the Parfum version, and a bit of leatheriness as well along with some warm spice, but all of that sits below the oak. I am able to pick up the iris, but it's not very dominant overall and contributes a bit of depth to the leatheriness. The blend is really beautiful and it feels very high quality, but I can imagine that some people are going to be unhappy with the strength. To me this is at its best when it's able to waft into the air, whereas smelling more closely to the skin it almost slinks away. In the drydown, the vanilla certainly takes on more of a dominant role, but the woody influence never quite goes away and blends with it in a lovely way. The vanilla smells extremely high quality, but again it feels more airy than dense to me. It reminds me a bit of the way Shalimar Millesime Vanilla Planifolia behaves on my skin, where it can sort of disappear up close, but then out of nowhere I will get wafts of it in the air around me. The name Spirit seems very fitting to me as it has more of an ethereal character than some of the more boisterous Habit Rouge flankers that have come out recently. I'm still not sure about the longevity, as I've been over-applying it over the last few days, but I will take a brief break from it and revisit it again to see if my thoughts change at all. Overall I really do like this one, and it continues to grow on me the more I wear it. I'm looking forward to wearing it more, and I'm curious to see what people have to say about this one.

The Chronicles of Kapow or The Ultimate Fragrance Buyer’s Guide Until I Find a More Pompous Title: Entry Number 17 I just bought it. A sort of blind buy. There was no tester yet in the shop and there were only 3 (hidden) bottles. The sale assistant let me buy one with the promise I could bring it back if I was not satisfied. Well, I am keeping it. By the way, the official launch is at the very end of march (31st), at least in most European countries. So, spoiler alert, this one is a solid proposition, full bottle worthy and, in my opinion, one of the best flankers of the line with Habit Rouge Privé and Habit Rouge Parfum. The Habit Rouge DNA is definitely there, dah. The scent makes me think of Habit Rouge Parfum more than any other member of the family. My first impression about the opening was these two (HR Parfum and HR Spirit) are pretty close. However, when I compare them side by side, the differences are quite obvious to my nose in the opening. Then, in the dry down, the differences are even bigger. HR Parfum (rum) is gourmand while HR Spirit (oak barrel, but not boozy) plays a very distinctive partition. In this flanker, the powdery iris is dancing with the nutmeg on a bed of a superb double dose of vanilla in a very comforting way. The fragrance keeps a sensual and almost animalic touch (something earthy and discreetly smoky and leathery). The oak is the star of the show. It is not intrusive or over exposed, it is a composed statement. It makes you think of a whisky or a cognac aged in oak barrels, but not one of those just playing the oak card in an abusive way. It is there, but it gives enough space to the other flavours to express themselves and to evolve. The more I wear it, the more it grows on me. Performance is good. The scent remains subtle. I like that. It makes the fragrance very versatile. Thus, in my book, HR Siprit is a solid A. It is becoming addictive. I am glad to have it in my modest collection. It is a limited edition, but it is still signature material.

Best fragrance in my collection in 2025. In fact, it shares my Top 1 spot with its almost twin brother, Habit Rouge Parfum. While the Parfum is more extroverted and restless, Habit Rouge Spirit is the quieter, more introspective and refined sibling. Here, iris plays a supporting role, helping to smooth and elevate the vanilla accord without ever stealing the spotlight. The opening has a subtle boozy, liqueur-like nuance that feels elegant rather than loud, followed by a base that gives me the impression of a discreet patchouli presence, even though it’s not officially listed. The quality of the materials is outstanding and fully lives up to Guerlain’s standards. This is a distinctly masculine fragrance that balances classic structure with a modern polish effortlessly. It asks for more serious attire, though not necessarily formal. Perfect for quiet seduction and, above all, for making a confident, understated statement. For my personal use, I wouldn’t consider it a daily signature scent, as it clearly asks for the right occasion. I do not recommend a blind buy: this fragrance was not created to please the masses, but rather to be appreciated as an olfactory work of art. Performance is excellent, with over 12 hours of longevity on my skin and solid projection during the first two hours. The current standard Guerlain bottle presentation is a significant improvement over the older “Listerine-style” bottles. This fragrance will never leave my collection.

Sampling the most recent version of Guerlain Habit Rouge, Spirit Parfum, released earlier this year, and my first reaction is that it’s markedly similar to last year’s release, Habit Rouge Parfum, with a few key differences. Spirit is less sweet and boozy, pivoting a little more toward an ambery smoothness and leather while still emphasizing an iris center. So perhaps, simply put, Parfum is sweeter and boozier, and Spirit Parfum is less sweet and less boozy, even though Spirit Parfum’s advertising emphasizes that it was aged in Hennessey oak barrels. Both are exceptional, and I could certainly see why someone might regard them as redundant, but the differences are there, and I’d certainly recommend that everyone try both. Even the iris-averse could find something to love in them, and I regard them as excellent uses of iris, definitely somewhat sharp but not to the point of taking away from the overall experience. I’d rate them similarly superlatively in terms of composition, performance, and value. Concentration is, of course, parfum, and retail pricing is $200 for 100ml, slightly higher than last year’s $175 for 100ml for Habit Rouge Parfum, though both seem to be available on the grey market, also. $2 / ml and under for this quality is very good value in the current market, in my opinion. 9 out of 10

I love this flanker! It's up there with HR Prive. It behaves like the Parfum version but maybe a little quieter, which I appreciate. The name may suggest that it is boozy but it's not (the Parfum is boozier). Overall the scent goes a completely different direction from Prive that is a gorgeous leather scent. Unmistakably it is a flanker to the Parfum but is less sweet and has a woody undertone that blends perfectly well into the HR profile. In the opening there is some citrus but I can't tell what it is (unlike it is clearly lemon in the edt). The scent develops quickly into its iris heart but it doesn't smell like make up powder, thanks to some spices (nutmeg, the pyramid says but I'm not sure) and the woody undertone. It is not in your face woody but the woods are definitely there from the start to the end. In the drydown especially the woods are more distinctive, adding a very attractive layer to the already multifaceted vanilla.

First spray means a blast of leathery iris. Lovely and not too demonstrative, very pleasant. This soft leatheriness is then followed with an absolute stunner of a progression: nutmeg quickly dances with the iris, giving it depth and roundness. After 30 mins or so the knockout begins to peek out. The woodyness of the whisky barrels imparts a unmistakable sharpness to the oak, and the vanilla is the furthest thing from a gourmand vanilla, instead emphasizing the richness of the oak and intermingling with the iris for what i can only describe as a “regal” scent. This is seriously addictive and wearable in any event, or season. No dandy fragrance here, the sharpness of the unique barrel aging really makes this a unique fragrance, and one i would absolutely buy again if given a chance I really recommend this fragrance

After trying Habit Rouge Spirit and comparing it with Habit Rouge Parfum, I clearly prefer Spirit, even though both are very similar. Spirit keeps the classic Habit Rouge DNA but presents it in a lighter, more dynamic and more modern way. Compared to the Parfum, which feels more serious and formal, Spirit comes across as more airy and easier to wear, without losing elegance. On my skin it feels less rigid, more fluid, with a distinctly modern character. Great performance, noticeable sillage, and an elegant presence with just 2 sprays. Conclusion: A smart reinterpretation of Habit Rouge, ideal for those who appreciate its heritage but want something more contemporary. In my case, I prefer it over the Parfum.

@oT2 "All in all, I am questioning the point of releasing another flanker, yet so interchangeable with HR Parfum..." I have HR Parfum and it really isn't a go-to for me even though I like HR, HR EdP, HR Rouge Prive, etc. The bergamot just throws the whole thing off. So, if Spirit can capture what Parfum was trying to achieve without the nascent bergamot note, then it should rate higher than Parfum. What do you think? *cries in fragrance snob* "BLAH BLAH BLAH, GUERLAIN IS DEAD...IT USED A VANILLA* This is why the fragrance houses don't want to bring anything to the US. If you don't like vanilla, that's fine but just like....don't smell this one. This is a wonderful and lovely addition to the Guerlain line. Vanilla quality is much like their Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21 DNA for a much much better price point. All with a boozy whiskey opening. Complainers suck it up. It's not the death of Guerlain.

I really like this . On first spray I get some iris that's rather subdued and the habit rouge dna (that fruity pebbles floral). On dry down on my skin i get the vanilla, something slightly creamy or buttery and some oak , I get a little booze but it's in the background . This is nice but i think it's really made for an older gentleman. The broccoli topped , super sweet and super loud crowd on YouTube are going to pan this i think. I enjoy it and will be trying to get a backup bottle

My sentiment echoes that of @leatherorrisviolet below (https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Guerlain/Habit-Rouge-Spirit-103574.html?ccid=2551008#focus-zone) If anyone from Guerlain is reading the comments here: Ditch the current HR Parfum recipe and replace it with the HR Spirit recipe. I will not buy another HR Parfum in its current formulation, but am already considering getting a backup of HR Spirit because it does everything right that HR Parfum did wrong.

I have smelled a lot of fragrances in my life and this is by far my favorite. I never thought I would spend this much money on a single perfume, but I felt like I have to, because it's soo good. I highly recommend checking it out in person, but not a blind buy safe scent. On my skin I'm not joking it last 12+ hours, and on clothes it lasted days. Thank you Delphine Jelk, for creating this masterpiece.

I personally love this. I think it is beautifully done with Guerlain’s vanilla DNA. Truly unisex to my nose. I’ve never dabbled in the men’s line before but glad I did. I also cannot compare this to the rest of the line but think it is fantastic. I am a lover of Bouceron Vanille Zanzibar and cannot wait to layer the two of these. Great blind buy.

This is something special! Deep, rich, and beautiful vanilla in the dry-down. It oozes quality but it's a scent profile I'm not used to, so I need to see if I will wear it a lot eventually. Do love it though! Don't have the Parfum version but this being a limited edition I did not want to miss!

Not sure if this is really a limited edition or not , but compared to the parfum its much subdued and more versatile to wear. It last very long but the projection is moderate. As for the smell i really enjoy it its more vanillic which i enjoy . 8.5 /10

This is strong but very smooth and creamy and goes on all day long... its a gentleman's fragrance suited for formal or dates, the reactions i ve been getting from this were very positive like "wow" reactions from both men and female...

This is so much fun, warm autumn nights. Right now, to me, this is one of Afremov's autumn landscapes made as a fragrance. Big love for me, Ill let it sit and macerate till fall and wear it daily. (Edit: Longgevity 12+ hours)

FUCK the prevoters for designer releases. I am very excited for this, Parfum from the last year was my favorite of 2024.

Guerlain is my favorite house, overall. I certainly have more Guerlain fragrances than any other house. I love the Habit Rouge, L'homme Ideal, Heritage, Vetiver, Homme and L'Instant lines. I love many of the L’Art & La Matière fragrances, especially Angelique Noire, Neroli Outrenoir, Joyeuse Tibereuse and Herbes Troublantes, and discontinued masterpieces like Bois D’Armenie and Gourmand Coquin. L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme Eau Extreme LIDGE is one of my all time favorites. So ... my opinion is coming from the angle of someone who excitedly opened this blind buy box biased toward giving Guerlain the benefit of the doubt that this would be exceptional. Please keep my potential positive prejudice in mind. Despite my sweet spot for Guerlain, the opening of Habit Rouge Spirit is a bit disappointing for me. At first spray, I get a synthetic plastic accord veiled over the classic Habit Rouge DNA. When I first smelled it, I received a very vivid and strong scent memory of the smell of the vinyl seats in my father's car circa 1980. But as the fragrance continues into the mid, a very familiar sweet, syrupy citrus/ amber/ vanilla accord takes over. I do not get a boozy accord at all. Woodsy notes, presumably oak, are apparent in the dry down. But overall, Spirit smells quite a bit like last year's Parfum, perhaps just less boozy and less sweet. Although Spirit seems slightly less sweet than last year's Parfum, it is probably still too sweet for Habit Rouge purists. But for my personal taste, I really like the mid and dry down. And to be honest, I like the dry down even more so than last year's Parfum, which I really enjoyed. My impression is that Guerlain is not trying to please HR purists. It is trying to attract younger customers (and probably Middle Eastern customers) in order to tap into the tastes and trends of younger generations. That sounds quite a bit like someone else we know! The only difference is that Guerlain was smart enough to introduce Habit Rouge Parfum and Spirit as flankers to attract a younger, more mass appealing audience, instead of eliminating and replacing one of the greatest designer fragrances of all time with a pathetic, synthetic, D I O R dime store turd. In the end, HR Spirit is only subtly different than many other previous HRs, and for about $200 US retail, maybe it isn't unique enough for many people, especially fans of the original dry, less sweet Habit Rouge DNA. But for me, it is a good fit and an excellent addition to my Guerlain collection. I think that I will end up using it more frequently than the EDT or the EDP. I give it an 8.75/10 and a Fragrantica score of 4.3

Alright, I finally got to smell this. My notes are... longer than I expected. In a vacuum, this is an objectively great frag. Take the parfum and remove the unpleasant opening, and you get spirit. Smelling it for the first time was somewhat surreal, I kept on expecting the plastic citrus kick of the parfum, yet it never came. The result is a sweet, almost chocolatey, powdery accord layered with what smells like mild incense to my nose. It performs much better than the reviews are giving it credit for so far; 1 spray to the back of my hand, and I kept getting notes of it in the air. It smells faint off of the skin, but it's definitely projecting. In fact, there was still some slight projection the next morning when I woke up, albeit probably a very slight scent bubble. So good smell, good performance, right? Well, hold your horses a little. The added notes, wood and iris, are BARELY noticeable to me, and I couldn't even get them until 2 or 3 hours in. Very faint. Which is a shame, they could've benefitted from being a lot stronger. The citrus, patchouli and rum are all way toned down here, and even though I'm happy to see the citrus go, I think this scent is overall considerably less complex than the parfum as a result. Combined with that steep £150 price tag, it does feel hard justifying purchasing this if you're coming off of the parfum, even if I do prefer the way it smells. You can do a lot better for that price in my opinion. Try before you buy. You may love it and think it's worth the price, but I personally wouldn't. As for vibes, this strikes me as a great fragrance for somebody who wears a lot of tweed jackets and heavy scarves.

I definitely don't agree with @Zhuliyan below. For me, Guerlain is still 'The House' and produces a number of exceptional products. Even if there are some unfortunate missteps along the way that are the economic realities of their subsidiary status. I preface by saying Guerlain is my favorite house, Habit Rouge is my favorite fragrance on any given day. I am a Habit Rouge completist. I love both the classic EDT and the new Parfum even though they are arguably significantly different fragrances. With Spirit, if one doesn't already appreciate the direction of the new Parfum there's a decent chance they won't enjoy this one. Relative to the Parfum, the booziness and the patchouli is toned down. The bergamot, and vanilla, and slightly animalic notes are present. The iris note is present and well blended but I think it could've benefitted by being a bit stronger. There is a earthy, woody note present as well which I assume is the oak. That is fairly light as well though it is blended well with the remaining patchouli. As with the Parfum, the leather note is very subtle as well, which is maybe my least favorite distinction with the classic EDT. If you find the Parfum to be wonderful and intoxicating, which I did, this is not necessarily essential, but you're likely to enjoy it.

A lesson in not relying on first impressions. Because the first hour of this is pretty aggressive, and to my taste not in a good way. The bergamot is grungy and intense but also kind of reminiscent of floor cleaner. It keeps blocking an intriguing resiny balsamic accord that I am almost able to take in but can’t identify because of that bergamot. In an hour though the bergamot fades out and a delicious deep Guerlain vanilla appears, augmented by an uncannily accurate oak booze barrels accord. A dark Iris note weaves around these two, melding them together. This heart is really appealing and lasts like this for 4-5 hours, followed by a powdery almost chocolatey amber dry down that is soft and crowd pleasing. The overall life of Habit Rouge Spirit on the skin is about ten hours, with decent projection and sillage, but nothing extreme. This is Guerlain after all, where good taste reigns. Habit Rouge Spirit can of course be considered unisex but there is also something that aligns with traditional masculine perfumes here and I think I’d rather smell this on my husband than myself.

The parfum was the fragrance that got me into fragrances as a hobby, I got a small decant for Christmas. Even though I didn't love it (The citrus note smelled vile IMO and was the strongest projecting part) I'd still call it a masterpiece for the dry down alone, fucking loved how it smelled on me. I've seen very little of that note mentioned so far, so if this is the parfum with less citrus and added woodsy notes, I'll be very happy. Heard that the reason you can't find this stuff anywhere is because it's currently only released in Portugal, with a full release end of this month. Sadly nowhere near me sells Guerlain products so I might have to go on a quest to find this.

I was surprised not to see it listed among similar fragrances, because it reminded me quite a bit of Roja Enigma Cologne. In my opinion, the two fragrances share a similar vibe — both feel quite mature and give off a modern-vintage impression. I wasn’t impressed enough to fall in love with it and use it all the time, but it will occupy a unique category in my collection. The performance is very good; it creates a noticeable aura around you that lasts from morning until evening. It becomes more beautiful as it dries down. I had tried the perfume version before and found it a bit harsh. In my opinion, this version is more wearable, softer, and more masculine.

I remember when this used to be a site about fragrances - now it just seems to be full of people who haven't got a clue what they’re talking about & are just desperate for 5 seconds of attention. You only have to look at some of the recent reviews on this perfume to see the kind this site now attracts. If i see one more comment from some idiot who thinks a perfume smells like ‘fly spray’ , ‘cleaning products’ , ‘horse dung’ , ‘urine’ etc I’ll scream. Has the fragrance community really dumbed down this much over recent years ?

This is a completely unnecessary release if you already have PARFUM, but if you don't own it yet and want a bottle with this profile, I do find SPIRIT to be a better blended/refined, overall better pick between the two newer Habit Rouge flankers, I decided to solicit opinions between SPIRIT and PARFUM from fifteen different people, 11 favored SPIRIT. Take that for whatever you feel it's worth.

To wear this you must be at least 80 years old, have a net worth of at least 20 millions dollars, have an extensive collection of cigars and drive a Rolls Royce......

This is a tough one. I'm a fan of HR and I want to love this, but I just don't think I do. On the positive side: It does have an addictive quality and keeps me wanting to try it, and it seems to be a high quality blend. It is rich and enveloping, I get the iris and the oak notes, it projects and lasts like crazy. If you're after a huge, comforting, elegant and upscale vanilla for more formal occasions then this might deliver. It is sweet, but when compared to much of the modern men's landscape it might actually be on the drier side. But the negatives: This really isn't HR. It might be in the ball-park, it might carry a similar elegance, but it is not Habit Rouge. It does a better job than most of hiding the synthetic modern molecules, but they are definitely present and it shouldn't be surprising given the performance. Unfortunately the synthetics move it farther away from the HR pedigree. It makes sense to use them when you're trying to introduce HR to a new generation in a competitive marketplace filled with beast mode amberwoods, but it really just misses the class of the originals. Ultimately Chanel's Le Lion does this kind of modern twist that Spirit and Parfum are trying to do, with a lot more class and without any of the synthetic drawbacks to my nose (yes its labdanum not vanilla, but it fills the same niche to me). I'll stick with the fantastic HR EDP if I want more depth from the classic EDT.

Guerlain is no longer what it used to be! There is no longer that high and refined quality of their perfumes. Both Dior and Guerlain changed perfumers and their image fell in the eyes of many people around the world. But they don't care, but believe me they will crack because I am sure that their profits will fall more and more from year to year! This habit rouge spirit is not worth it, especially if you have last year's habit rouge parfum, but even if you don't have it, it is not worth it, it is nothing special, it is not a WOW factor, not something stylish and ethereal, I would write that their ingredients are not that high and refined quality that it was before when Thierry Wasser was the perfumer. You will screw yourself Guerlain! As I mentioned Dior, since they ruined the Homme series I am no longer their customer, the same will be with Guerlain. You allow yourself to change and reformulate perfumes, but this is a risk for you, Guerlain, because I will hardly buy your perfume anymore! I don't care about your vintages which are scarce and you make limited editions, or make perfumes like Thierry Wasser did, or close your houses and boutiques and get out of the market. Before, I recommended your perfumes everywhere as a claim that they are some of the best, but I don't dare recommend them anymore. Too bad.......

Habit Rouge Spirit is a floral, woody, and powdery fragrance. The scent of this fragrance is based on iris, which typically lends a powdery feel to almost all fragrances where it's the star ingredient. This is also the case in Habit Rouge Spirit, which also features oriental vanilla notes and a woody and spicy accord. The signature Habit Rouge scent is also perceptible, but in a very small proportion. Overall, the fragrance has a linear scent, with no changes in its development from opening to dry-down. Based on its characteristics and my perception of the fragrance, I believe it's suitable for autumn and winter, evenings out, and special occasions. Its longevity has been very good, lasting up to 10 hours or slightly more, with a noticeable sillage. Personally, I preferred the Prive version, which was a limited edition, to this Spirit version. On me, there were some notes that developed in a somewhat unpleasant way, which made me dislike it. Another point to note is that the scent is quite unisex; if a woman wanted to wear it, she would undoubtedly look good on her. My recommendation is that you try it for yourselves and form your own opinion.

Quite similar to Oud satin mood. Lacks originality for this reason. It’s ok but I wouldn’t present this to the king. His nose will say this is too synthetic for him. It has a weird bubble bath synthetic note that I don’t particularly care for. Headache inducing baby wipe smell. Makes you want to run away.

Awful... geniunely. I don't know how anyone can wear this. @tessture said birch tar mixed with horse poop and i have to agree.

Browsing my local Dillard’s I walked over to my favorite spot: the Guerlain counter. There I see Habit Rouge Spirit. Intrigued and knowing nothing about it, I pick up the Flacon, lift the red wooden magnetic cap and smell the atomizer. Immediately I’m reminded of the creamy yet leathery vanilla and buttery Iris of the limited edition Shalimar Vanilla Planifolia. I asked for a sample and to purchase a bottle- none in the store, sold out. I begged to purchase the half full tester instead I was given a generous 6ml sample. Habit Rouge Spirit opens with rounded bergamot along side Guerlain’s vanilla (perhaps their opopanine accord) and buttery doughy Iris humming behind it. I also sense a spicy warmth that I assume is the nutmeg. 30 minutes later the bergamot lessens significantly making way for the leathery aspects of the vanilla to come forward. The oak becomes a bit heavier as well. The overall fragrance is warm, woody yet powdery. Another new Guerlain creation comes to mind L’heure Doree which goes in a more creamy woods/ amber where HRS is powdery with a heavy emphasis on Iris/Orris. Silage is phenomenal. I keep smelling myself as I walk around with just one spray on the back of my hand. There is a darkness to HRS that SVP doesn’t have that o believe comes from the oak. The deep dry down brings me to Shalimar Vanilla Planifolia’s sweet, doughy vanilla and buttery Iris. I find both fragrances to be unisex with Habit Rouge Spirit leaning masculine and Shalimar Vanilla Planifolia leaving feminine, each being the two sides of the same Guerlain coin.

😂 Oh man. You can't make this stuff up. "Habit Rouge Spirit... limited edition... new interpretation... enriched trail... two kinds of vanilla... oak barrel notes..." I mean, come on. This sounds like it's taken straight out of the Modern Perfumery BS Generator. "New interpretation of amber character" Translation: We sweetened it even more. "Powdery iris and nutmeg" Translation: We tossed in trendy notes to make it sound posh. "Rich amber foundation with two types of vanilla" Translation: Double down on synthetic vanilla overdose because that's what sells. Full description: "Hey guys, we took Habit Rouge, ripped out the citrus and complexity, drowned it in a double shot of sticky vanilla, threw in a random oak barrel note to sound artisanal, and called it 'Spirit' so you think it's deep and mysterious." They just butchered Habit Rouge with the Parfum version... And now they’re already doubling down with another version that sounds even sweeter, even heavier, even less Habit Rouge than ever before. Guerlain is done as a perfume house.

Just tried this in the Guerlain flagship.... Hard to convince myself to have this one as I have the Parfum version already. It shares similar itineration as Parfum went last year but softer. It totally makes sense if you haven’t had any of those 2, between these 2 you can make a choice in terms of your preference of the depth and intensity. Parfum is a great release, I now keep comparing my left wrist (Parfum) and right wrist (Spirit), no regret of having bought Parfum but still a million question should I collect Spirit? (Though highly possible in the end I will still get it just because it is Habit Rouge) In my opinion, Parfum for cold days L’instinct for warm days Best duo of HR!

I’m obsessed with this one. It’s everything the Parfum should have been. The Parfum is unfortunately very jagged and cardboardy in its profile, and I knew from the second I did a full wearing that I would not be purchasing it. Spirit, on the other hand, seems to be a rethink of the Parfum where everything is rounded out, toned down, and kept classy and in line with Habit Rouge’s heritage. That’s really the best way I can describe Spirit. I will happily be purchasing a full bottle and displaying it next to my bottles of the original EDT and Rouge Prive. Parfum was trying to be MFK Oud Satin Mood, but Spirit knows it is Habit Rouge and is proud of it

Je l’ai essayé aujourd’hui sur Paris, il garde l’esprit d’habit rouge, mais beaucoup plus portable car je n’aimais pas la version originale. C’était un des seuls anciens Parfums, que je ne supportais pas le seul que j’adorais qui n’existe plus. C’était habit rouge, sport qui était magnifique. Celui-ci est très alcoolisé, on sent beaucoup la vanille. rhum ou whisky pour les amateurs d’habits rouges, ça peut être une très belle option pour moi je trouve qu’il sent bon et c’est correct mais il me fait penser un peu au déodorant, axe oud et vanille noire c’est dans le même esprit d’odeur. Allez le tester et faites-vous votre propre avis

I was just about to buy, tonight, Habit Rouge Parfum in a last hours Black Friday discount for 75 swiss francs. A great "deal". I've tried it a few times, and grew to like it. ESPECIALLY the permanent scent after dry down. But, I cry foul play. There is another, this one!??? I'm sorry, it's a bit too much. There is a new HR Parfum 1 year after HR Parfum. This turns me off. Is Guerlain Zara? I suddenly got the inspiration to play with my bottles of Habit Rouge EDT and EDP, which are perfectly great, by mixing them with some more intense parfums. Now I'm going to buy nothing. Think about that, Guerlain.

Have given up trying to find a Guerlain that smells good AND ACTUALLY PERFORMS WELL! I’ll give this a try too but will not be blind buying it as I usually do with latest Guerlain scents. Three I’ve purchased recently are so poor performing, that my little habit now has to cease. L’Instant De Guerlain is one of my all time favourites ever! Unfortunately, it’s become so terrible lately, in every iteration, I’m going to have to just forget it exists. I don’t hold out much hope for this latest offering for those reasons. I think Guerlain are now one of the worst houses for performance. Period.

I would love to test this. I am slowly becoming somewhat sceptical about Guerlain lately. A couple of weekends ago I tested L'Homme Ideal latest and it was a huge disappointment. The drydown phase smelled exactly like 2 other fragrances I tested that day, both with lesser price tags. Ohhh, all btw 3 sucked: faint, soulless, uninspiring, cheap, extremely short lifespan. I could not believe my nose, so glad I didn't buy it. Since I slowly became a fan of the iris note, I am curious about this one.

It's not surprising enough to inspire the spirit. It has a vibrant and impactful name, but there's no difference from the last perfume in the line. I don't understand why Guerlain seems stuck in an existential void, lacking creativity. They could very well bring back old formulas at reasonable prices. But filling bottles with the same fragrance under different names is simply absurd.

The same folks that love Le Male, One Million, and their gazillion number of flankers, are the ones whining about this one. This one will not be on the top ten “compliment puller”, “panty dropper”, and “a must have” kiddos on TikTok and Instagram talk about. For them, bubblegum sweet is the way to go. The Habit Rouge line, is not for everyone. I can’t wait to try this flanker.

That Iris and Vanilla combo with woody drydown is good. Very nice and completely unisex. It smells nice and inoffensive. Projects well. But probably I would layer it with another scent more vanilla centered. I think I might get a full bottle. Maybe will share it with my husband.

Habit rouge doesn’t do a lot for me so I’m not really sure why I expected to be impressed by this. I mean it smells like habit rouge that was sitting in a whisky barrel. Definitely classier than kamrah or jazz club but I don’t really like boozy profiles. It’s well blended though

Wow. This is a masterpiece. The Hennessy barrels really hit on the initial spray then it settles into this rich elegant oak soaked in vanilla. 2 sprays should last you a while. This is not one you want to overspray due to potency and price point. 9/10

Went on like Habit Rouge, but now is developing a fecal woody note that is a bit like birch tar and horse poop. Even has that plastic-y smoke note Birch tar can have on me. So it’s mostly Habit Rouge plus birch tar and a touch of civet. Not loving.

I can understand complaints about the numerous redundant flankers but this is NOT that. This is a very modern twist on the Habit Rouge DNA and based on the success of their Parfum releases last year, Guerlain are nailing it.
