Insolence Eau de Toilette

an amazing versatile scent perfect for day and night wear. to me it's super powdery, floral and romantic. it has a parma-violet like smell but not overpowering and candy like. it's youthful and beautiful. the initial spray you get the super strong violet notes and as it settles through the day, it works into this super satisfying powdery drydown with the sandalwood. it works super well in cold weather and blooms the best there and longevity on clothing is superb - one of those you will smell days later! the longevity on skin is amazing too especially for an edt and does not need frequent reapplication. i find it can also be a super beautiful and romantic spring time scent due to its floral composition. it does struggle in high heat and can be very overpowering if you're not into that. it's a very unique scent that to me evokes imagery of a young, fearless woman, she's adventurous and playful. to me it has the similar vibe of britney spears fantasy but it's more mature and classy and less childish. if you're looking for a unique floral perfume that's powdery and beautiful i'd absolutely buy this.

So since I never tried this&their always sold out @ all discount perfumes sites,I went ahead&blind bought directly fr Guerlain &after shipping total fb came to $125,so cheaper than other sitesYaya! I'm very happy&I'd say hype is true,this is far from old smelling,it's very Feminine light&airy barely sweet in the most perfect way&lasts longer than,alot of my other edp concentrations I own,very well made put together &smooth,I love my bottle with my nice name engraved for free♡my son loved it&kept saying mom you smell good,he's in elementary so this is not outdated@ all! I'm so happy this is how a Feminine fairy would smell! Not very sweet not to floral just blended very nice,it's not Sexy it's pretty&soft&great for everyday,in my opinion,lovely!! Great lasting power,especially on clothes &my skin chemistry 8hrs or so depending ☆☆☆☆☆ I'd go as far as too say: if your looking for the best delicate &lovely Feminine scent nice&airy &for something not to sweet&not to floral yet clean&watery barely sweet this is 👌 perfect 4 all ages!♡

This was one of my first perfumes ages ago and I loved it. I had the old formula in the flower-style flask (such a shame they discontinued that beauty). The past couple of years I often tried it again in stores, but it was so different to what I remembered to the point that I was starting to think I used to have some kind of flanker instead. Recently I bit the bullet and bought a new style bottle (mostly because I had received a gift card and had to spend it on something), but I was still not convinced. Util I finally tried it on at home and I instantly recognized the beloved smell. That goes to show how different something can smell on skin and on paper. It's a very powdery and clean smell that last a good while. So glad I have this in my arsenal once again

I love it. It’s very nostalgic for me, as many women around me used to smell like this in 2000s, but it’s not outdated and I can wear it and feel myself in it. Very comforting and cozy, but also feminine, elegant and even somewhat sexy (but that’s debatable). It’s floral-powdery (not dry), a bit sweet and has something like a berry dessert in it. Violet is very prominent, it adds some bitterness (especially in the beginning), but quite soft. And of course there is this wonderful recognizable Guerlain base, which makes most Guerlain perfumes smell elegant and feminine to me. The scent has quite positive vibes, I would say, but at the same time it would be appropriate for almost any occasion. For me it’s quite weather dependent.

Absolutely stunning. Delicate and refined. Insolence EDT opens with a sparkling, tangy fruity note blended with damp woods. A few minutes in, a strong, sweet, powdery violet emerges alongside a translucent iris. Although both versions smell very similar overall, compared to the EDP (which I’ve only tried via a dupe), the EDT feels brighter and slightly less powdery. Nostalgically, this scent reminds me of the perfumed leaves from collectible scented paper pads from the 80s that used to be swapped among friends, as well as the memory of scented, colourful ballpoint pens that were so popular at the time. A unique and sophisticated take on a powdery floral.

After 15 minutes it turned into this mouth watering sour powdered sweets smell. I get a lot of violets ( candied not fresh) and fresh tart raspberry. Definitely powdery but not very sweet fragrance. For some reason makes me salivate 😂 ( must be a good thing) It’s unique and I love it 🥰 It has some romantic and vintage vibe about it. ( the fragrance in the new spade top bottle) on my skin it lasts 4-5h on the clothes around 8-10 wchich is pretty good for edt. Update: I am in love with this fragrance and I can’t live without it 😍😍😍😍 I will be buying a edp soon as well 😍

So I received this instead of the EDP, it was a blind buy so I have no idea what i'm missing out on with the EDP, all I know is i'm okay with this because it smells exactly like parma violets and the website gave me a partial refund for sending the wrong one. It is very sweet smelling if you're smelling it straight from the atomizer but it mellows out when you're actually wearing it and more of the violet comes through.

I bought this as a treat for passing my driver's test Lol. It's a big girl perfume. This has been hyped for years online and I don't know why I ignored it when it was in the bee bottles, it was so much cheaper then. It's violets, berries and powdery notes. In the summer it might come off too powdery and metallic so it's better in the colder seasons. One of the best out there. 1000/10.

This is one one of the most delicate, soft and dreamy perfumes, sort of like an enchanted forest vibe. 🧚♀️💜 It starts off strong with the violet and iris and then turns sweeter as the berries kick in. I agree with the reviews below, when I tested the EDP version it was way too powdery in an unpleasant way, this is so much sweeter and feminine.

This is how I imagine fairy type pokémon smell like, beautiful violet, berries, vainilla and iris blend, last all day on me and forever on clothes, nowadays this scent stands out from the modern fragrances around, I will use it on cold weather because I feel it'll become a little heavy on summer. Guerlain's perfumes are always exquisite.

I took a chance and blind bought this from the Guerlain website and I’m so happy I did!! When I wear this I feel like I’m floating on a cloud of sugared berries and powdery violets. I feel so feminine and sweet wearing this scent!! Love at first sniff. I get the imagery of magical fairies and pixie dust. Amazing longevity.

I love it, it’s very similar to EDP but a bit more soft and airy. Ultra feminine, unique, with a retro vibe. Definition of pure class and heaven for powdery fragrances and purple flowers enjoyers 💜 If you like EDP but feel it’s too strong for daily wear - EDT is your girl :)

One of the favorites of a friend who passed. Smelling this makes me sad but I had to buy a bottle to remember her by. She loved all things purple floral and this is just the most perfect purple floral I can imagine. Unique while still being classically identifiable violet.

Very addictive. A have compliments wearing this one. It makes me feel good, it's a very uplifting smell. I wear it for a week, usually I switch perfumes every day, but this one stole my heart.

I tried both today and I prefer this one to the edp bc it's a tad less powdery and sweeter bc i feel the berries more intensely

This is a fairy tale fragrance. Think glass slippers, gowns, fairies, princes, pumpkin coaches, grand ballrooms and dewy, enchanted forests. Or your favorite makeup bag or cosmetic line. Insolence EDT is one of the most ethereal frangrances I've ever tested. It's a combination of makeup powder, powdered sugar, evening air and just a touch of strawberry and vanilla. It's VERY powdery in the way that only perfumes can be. Not quite a lipstick fragrance. It's more violet forward, sugary and soft and slightly cool yet comforting. Very Cinderella, or or the Fairy Godmother. This is surprisingly deep for such an airy fragrance. I believe that's the vanilla working its magic. This isn't a super potent vanilla, either. It doesn't overpower the other notes, which could have easily been the case in a lesser formulation, since violet is such a delicate note. It kind of reminds me of the vanilla scent of Besame lipstick. Insolence EDT also surprisingly strong. This is a princess, not a damsel in distress. It has impressive sillage at just under arm's length, and really respectable longevity, at about seven. For an EDT to work as effectively, if not better, than most EDPs on the market, that is really something. Guerlain truly is a perfumery apex predator. And this isn't even the original Insolence EDT formulation. I'm not familiar with the OG Insolence line, but if it's anything like this, then I can see its cult status. One spray and I want to get decked out in the most fabulous gown ever and go in search for my own "happily ever after." Word of caution, though–this is a sweet but powerful fragrance, so don't overspray. A little goes a surprisingly long way.

Powdery sweet violet and iris with a little bit of tonka~ I get more tonka and sandalwood the longer it dries down! I wish I got more of the berries to brighten it up, but I love how gentle and airy this scent is! Its a slightly cold scent, but like a dreary day and not the icy chill of winter.. Not something I'd usually buy in-store (I bought it blind), but I love that its so different from other scents I own! Insolence is ultra feminine in a vintage perfume way, like a porcelain doll covered in a thin layer of dust with a soft sunray illuminating parts of her ♡ It isn't quite sexy, but there is something intimate to it and it wouldn't be out of place on a date~ Overall, its so dreamy and fairytale-like! It's somewhere between youthful and mature? I don't see a tween being into this, but maybe someone into coquette or vintage fashion in their 20s-30s? It absolutely doesn't scream "grown-up" either! Perhaps its "insolence" is a refusal to abandon girlhood?~ I like it best in mild weather, as its a bit too powdery for me in the heat! Its not the most "me" scent, but one I'm happy to try on when I want to curate a specific mood or style ^^/

This a lovely and beautifully blended fragrance. However, it was somewhat disappointing for me. I wanted those candied violets and berries, but what I smell is a quick shot of violet with some red fruits that quickly disperse within seconds. I'm left with a buttery smooth, bread-like, iris. In fact, it makes me oddly hungry but not over a candied aspect, but over the bread. In the late drydown, there is a delicious vanilla, but I have to press my wrist to my nose. That faint vanilla may be my favorite part of this fragrance, it's so yummy. I wish it was louder. It is an iris forward perfume; this may be due to my skin chemistry and the cool, dry weather. Perhaps other people do primarily get the violets and fruit. It is a beautifully done iris, but I already have a couple of iris forward perfumes and was not looking for another. Despite not meeting my expectations, Insolence is my first Guerlain, and I'm impressed with the quality. I would recommend this fragrance to anyone who enjoys the buttery and powdery facets of iris.

When I first received the sample, I smelled baby wipes. I asked my sister what the smell was, and she said “dust”. That was when I first got the sample, not sure what’s changed, but now, I first smell fresh powdery violet, like a baby powder, with some berry sweetness and some freshness. On the dry down, this is straight up violet candy. Very sweet! I don’t feel that the scent is ethereal or reminds me of fairies, lol. To me this is just ULTRA feminine, even slightly vintage, but just very traditionally feminine and very nostalgic, subjectively. But truthfully on the dry down I don’t find it to be very vintage smelling, mostly just sweet candy violet. I would like to own a bottle of this but sadly I’m on a no buy for awhile.

It's been years since I smelled it, I liked it on other women, but did not feel mature enough to wear it in my 20s. As I was considering a new spring scent and digging in my memory, I came across this one and I am so happy I did. It's velvety, smooth and has a vintage vibe (powder/violets), very specific and typical for Guerlain. I personally think It's stylish and quite unique, I don't consider it sweet, but two men said it smells very sweet and candy like to them. I would not consider this a safe blind buy. Perfume version smelled more sour to me, less violet and powder.

This fragrance opens with a delightful burst reminiscent of bubblegum and I’m here for it. It’s playful yet elegant at the same time. It’s a sweet floral with a hint of fruitiness, something I usually avoid, as I’m not drawn to fruity perfumes, but this one is nice.

Me huele demasiado identico a L'elixir de La vie est belle, Lancôme. Huele a caramelos de violeta empolvados y con el tiempo se suaviza y queda jabonoso.

I prefer the Eau de Toillette to the Eau de Parfum, as I find it airy, and sweeter, and get less of the Neon Violet and Iris combination. Beautiful scent, and while I have a full bottle, I won't be repurchasing as I prefer Idylle, L'Instant and L'Instant magic.

Lo compre a ciegas para regalarselo a mi madre. Grave error. No es que el perfume sea feo, pero es muy jovial, como para una adolescente. Huele a jugo de frutos rojos con flores. No me arrepiento haberlo comprado, pero hubiera preferido darle otro 🤦

This is masterfully updated so the notes are joyful and effervescent. I am not particularly fond of violet, but can appreciate the beauty in this fragrance. Just beautiful with strong sillage and enormous projection.

So disappointment in this. I bought it longing for the original in the meteor shape, and this is just not it. It's Insolence, but with extra iris, and not nearly enough raspberries. The original was a raspberry violet candy. It had this amazing cooling quality when you wore it. It was stunning. It walked the perfect line between adolescence and womanhood. They held hands. This leans too mature for me and has more of the lipstick powder that iris and violet combined will give, if not balanced by the strength of the raspberries. I own La Petite Robe Noir, and I just don't see a point to keeping this. The amount of red fruits here is seriously lacking. I will be returning. My heart breaks knowing that the original is just gone and not available anymore without ridiculous pricing. It truly was a masterpiece. Edit: I may keep this, as it is as close as I can get to the original, and does have enough of a similar quality to reminisce it's predecessor. I do wish Guerlain had not removed so much of the raspberry.

I’ve been wanting to try this scent for years and finally got my hands on it just for the violet to be so overpowering. It’s a lighter floral scent but you must love purple florals. Very planty, sleepy, soft, and slightly powdery. The overwhelming powdery green quality of the florals is what I can’t get past. I wish it were airier or lactonic. A waste of 5 ml, sadly

I got this on a hot late June day and I swear this is not a summer perfume. Smells like medicine... I can understand the previous comment, since it was also posted a few days earlier. I can't wait to give it a second try during winter time. But longevity is incredible.

It is mainly Violet and I discovered that I absolutely hate Violet even though I love other violate flowers like Iris and Heliotrope. It smells like a kid's medicine and not in a good way

My signature 💜 It’s actually quite similar to the edp (which I also love), but more airy, maybe a twinge fruitier and slightly soapier. This one I can get away with wearing as a daily, all seasons perfume, whereas the edp is more of a cool weather scent which can feel a bit suffocating in hot weather. The edt is a gentle, softly projecting lamb, yet wolfish in her longevity and potency. This is one of those perfumes I’ll wear even if people hate it on me. Smelling Insolence has me imagine it was made for ethereal, dreamer types, who reluctantly live in the harsh confines of a finite world whilst yearning for their true home in a heavenly, eternal dimension. And because they believe in the promise of eternity, they aren’t discouraged or depressed, but rather exude a childlike joy and wondrous sort of detachment...as if the perfume, itself, acts as a shield protecting them from the heavy, fallen nature of their temporary earthly home. Sounds melodramatic, but something ineffable, some sort of magic in the dna, explicitly conveys certain images to me...haha

love how people voted this as medium sillage. it is exactly the same as the first edition. just because it's edt, it doesn't mean it is less potent, in fact it is more potent that the edp. the bottle has changed and the notes are the same the second one with the bee bottle might have different notes listed, but this is mere marketing. sillage is ENORMOUS not medium. chill people. know your fragrances and facts. a change of flacon does not equate reformulation. it has been moved to a different line, les légendaires, meaning legendary. one of their pillars with other iconic, historic and emblematic fragrances.

I started off not having the best reaction to Insolence’s EDT at first. I swear, at the time all I got was sandalwood - the harsh, astringent kind. But I’ve learnt that perfumes are quite likely the most subjective hobby you can have, because when the day changed and my mood changed, I suddenly perceived fresh, effervescent berries, almost a bubbly berry soda sort of appeal and a beautiful floral dry down. I cannot say I perceive my all-time favourite note - Violet here, but it’s one of my most beloved scents now all the same.

I’ve been a fan of this scent since high school. I smelled it first on my mom's best friend, and I asked her about it! I was 16 years old back then. But i like the Edp version more than this. This one has something harsh in my nose. Don’t get me wrong, this is a beautiful scent. I use it every day, but the EDP one is so pure and cold that it feels like there’s no alcohol on it. If you enjoy this, please try the edp version; you will adore it.

Dear Fragrantica Editors, This is not a new perfume, this is the 3rd kind of packaging of Insolence. The seperate pages you create for different bottles cause confusion. You have done the same thing for most of the contempoary perfumes of Guerlain when their original design bottles are changed into bee bottles. "Collections Patrimoine de Guerlain" are just new bottles, not new perfumes. Best regards...

Insolence ("Disrespectful"), Eau de Toilette, by Guerlain, smells like the classic cold violet flowers, with some sour and metallic mixed forest berries juice. The difference between Insolence Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum, is that Eau de Parfum also has some sweet vanilla in it. Besides that vanilla touch, both of them smell exactly the same.

a beautiful blend of femininity and sweetness, evokes the nostalgia of a vanity full of makeup, lipstick and powder, very similar to the classic scent of the famous Guerlain meteorites by the way . a mixed with sweet and sour treats, the violet note is very predominant, it is a very people pleaser perfume, super feminine and classy and french 💋

Something about this sweet violet fragrance feels so nostalgic to me, like something vaguely associated with childhood, fairies and princesses. It's bright and candy-sweet, and I rarely feel like wearing it, but sometimes I do, when I am feeling particularly feminine and whimsical. I haven't yet tried the EDP to compare.

I have this one, the floral round EDT and EDP. To replicate the original, it needs WAY more raspberry and red berries in it. It doesn't have near enough of it, and I also thinks it needs a dash of rose and more tonka. It's definitely closer to the EDP.

Smells lovely. Just like violet candy. I think it smells clean too. The longevity is pretty descent, but the scent stays close to my skin, as it doesn't project very well. I still love it very much though. Can't wait to try l'instant magic next.

@ArtDecoStyle - Perhaps it's "new" because the notes are different to the previous EDT (bee) bottle. This has vanilla and woods added. Honestly getting a little overwhelmed by all the versions and formulations.

I actually prefer this to the edp. More bright, sparkly and less vanilla 👍🏻. Also reminds me a bit of a discontinued favourite Escadas Sentiment. I get numerous compliments on this when I wear it.
