Iris Pallida by Guerlain—oh, how I was skeptical. Skeptical doesn’t even begin to cover it. At nearly $20/ml, I was bracing myself for a letdown, I was convinced that this was just another overpriced bottle of fragrance that could never live up to its extravagant price tag. But. Oh. But. What a revelation! From the first spritz, I was transported—not just into a scent, but into an entire world. It opens with a delicate, beautifully ethereal iris—soft, powdery, never too much. Akin the first touch of velvet on bare skin—an unsurprising vibe considering the warmth of the suede note, exactly that effortless grace that doesn’t need to scream for attention, doesn't feel the need for attention. The iris is the star here, yes, but it doesn’t walk alone. It’s accompanied by a whisper of tonka laced violet, subtly mingling in the background, lending an air of vanillic sweetness and almond-y nuttiness, but also of hidden mystery, of unspoken depth. But what really takes this to another level is the smooth, almost creamy woodiness that appears as the fragrance settles. The woods aren’t sharp like chips, they’re not heavy or dense—they’re rich not in a loud but a soft, creamy way, enveloping you like the softest cashmere. Sandalwood does a sublime job grounding the powdery florals and adding a whisper of sophistication that lingers long after the top notes have faded. It’s a fragrance that feels almost too perfect to be real, yet uniquely no flash, no bravado—but every note flawlessly composed, every element balanced with such precision that it’s impossible not to admire it. There's no need to boast, it is self-assured. There's no need to exclaim, for all that matters is recognising your own self worth. Plus it lasts, wrapping you in warmth, never overpowering, and present in the most elegant, captivating way. I was so ready to turn away an hour ago, but now? Now, I need it. One of those fragrances that makes you realize what true luxury smells like.

I was lucky enough to acquire THREE of the sample sets of all six of these extraits and I've had the opportunity to wear them ALL... On their own and mixed together in various combination INCLUDING all six together (which honestly smells fantastic)... I have to admit and I'm SO SHOCKED to say... This one was my favorite and I got a full bottle.. the Tonka and Vanilla were close seconds with the jasmine in 3rd, but THIS one was really mind-blowing from beginning to end... The Tonka is great but it's a bit one-dimensional / linear and, let's be honest, tonka beans aren't expensive and even some cheaper tonka fragrances (BOUCHERON- Fève Tonka de Canaima) smell GREAT... the vanilla one is gorgeous but I own Cuir Béluga AND the Shalimar ode Madagascar AND SDV... so I didn't feel the need to spend money on that one but.... THIS IRIS perfume is not linear and I do not own an Iris fragrance that makes me feel this way.... I LOVE it and I don't regret it. we can all agree: The price of these perfumes is completely insane and if you're actually considering getting one.. PLEASE get a sample and wear it several times before making any crazy decisions.... I do wish everyone who wants to can get their nose on these. This is beautiful. Edit--- New Years Day 2026: It's my scent of the day and after many months of deliberation and wears and comparisons I can honestly securely place this in my top ten (possibly even top FIVE) fragrances of all time... I am not a strong enough writer to accurately convey my thoughts/feelings/experience with this perfume but THIS, Iris de Fath (or Iris Gris) extrait, and 28 La Pausa (EDT specifically) are the 3 best iris perfumes ever created (totally subjective but just my feelings)....

Leaving an updated review as I have really gotten to know IPE 6 the last year and a half... No other Iris fragrance can come close to this one. Upon first spray this makes you wonder, what did I just blow three bottles worth of fragrances on? However, as this warms up on your skin and dries down approx. 45 minutes later, the magic begins to happen. IPE 6 creates an ethereal scent bubble. It leaves a smooth and buttery scent trail that quite literally feels like it can be sliced through with a butter knife. There's a natural earthy sweetness to it, which gradually gets more intense as it dries down. The white suede note emerges about an hour and a half in, and gives a touch of warmth and muskiness to keep this from getting too cold. The almond is playful, somewhat candy-like, and gives the slightest stone fruit vibe which keeps IPE 6 from feeling too dated or mature. I would have to disagree with the fragrances in the "Reminds Me" section, and I honestly have not come across any Iris fragrances like IPE 6- though I can feel traces of a few Guerlain fragrances here (Rose Cherie, Cuir Beluga, and Iris Torrefie). This one just needs to be sampled for the full experience. However, reserve final judgements until around 2 hours into the drydown since this goes from underwhelming to mind-blowing. This is also pretty strong (I learned the hard way stuck sitting in traffic after 5 sprays), now I just spray the back of my knees and the back of my neck for 10+ hour projection.

I hate Iris - i hate it so much that everytime i test a perfume with Iris in it, i’ll just shake my head and throw away the blotter paper. But this time i was in a Guerlain event with perfume specialist telling us stories of their perfumes. So i didn’t throw away this blotter paper right away. Like all iris perfumes, i hated the head note - it’s soooo irisy. But 10 minutes later, i picked it up again - AND WOW - it’s a totally different scent. A soft, beautiful, sweet powdery scent that i wasn’t expecting! This easily becomes my favourite among the 6 extraits. 3, 4 months after this event, i got myself a sample to really test it. The longevity is insane. I’m a very warm person living in Hong Kong which is a very hot place. A good EDP lasts about 3-4 hours on my skin. Usually less. On the day i tested it, it lasted a whooping 12+ hours! It has the longevity of 540 but it’s much easier to use and much “friendlier” than 540. I love it so much that I’m considering to get my first “iris” fragrance, but the price tag is still pushing me away for a bit. I’m still quite reluctant to pay that much on one bottle. But who knows, I may not be able to refuse it one day💜💜💜

Absolutely loved this scent! From first spray, you'll get Iris Pallida, front and center. It's powdery, metallic, with just a hint of violet hovering around it. It's got that elegant Guerlain heliotrope/almond powder accord supported by a light touch of soft musks and creamy sandalwood. But nothing gets in the way of the star. Now let's talk about the best part....the longevity. For those who are a little disappointed in the strength of L'Art et La Matier line, the extrait will satisfy—at a hefty price. It lasted all day on me (8 hours at least). I got beautiful whiffs of it throughout my wear. The next day, on my shirt I was able to just pick up the sandalwood note. Keep in mind, this is nothing like Iris Silver Mist (which I also love). ISM is made with a ton of different iris molecules, whereas Iris Pallida is just the finest iris butter diluted in alcohol. Out of the entire line this was my favorite. If you're a jasmine lover, I'd def check out the jasmine grandiflorum, that was stunning too.

I am not an iris lover, but after a year and a half of taking this home on tester strips, testing it on my skin, and asking at every perfume counter for alternative Iris scents (and finding that nothing else matches up), I finally pulled the trigger. I would leave the test strips in my room and whenever I walked in, the scent of Iris Pallida would uplift my soul! I placed all the extrait test strips side by side and Iris Pallida outlasted the other 5 by days. The tonka contains a horrible stale cigarette note when it interacts with my skin and the vanilla smells too much like SDV when it dries down. Iris Pallida in contrast is incredibly smooth on my skin. It exudes elegance. Iris Pallida extrait 6 envelopes you in a warm, rich, buttery cloud of elegance and softness. It reminds me of that final scene in the movie adaptation of Patrick Suskind's Perfume: the story of a murderer, where he reveals the ultimate perfume to the world and the crowd suddenly goes silent in awe of such an ethereal scent.

Words can’t describe how beautiful this is to me. This is certainly my favourite of the lineup. Easily wearable, classy yet theres a gourmand touch to it. There isn’t a lipstick scent that is common with iris (which i do like, but im glad this isnt just another lipstick iris). A powdery, fluffy, yet so very creamy, sweet almond-butter like scent. I don’t get much of a suede note but it feels warm and well rounded. As it dries down it becomes more and more creamy, until the base fades to a nivea cream like aroma. I am enjoying every minute of its development. 10/10 As Guerlain intend for this Line is for us to create our own little Guerlinad-esque mixture I tested layering this with all the other Extraits and Iris Pallida was the one that I absolutely loved layered with every single one of the Extraits, but my favourite combinations with this are Rose Centifolia and Bergamote Fantastico.

Absolutely my favourite Iris fragrance. I am not a fan of Guerlain but I just want to say thank you to the house for creating such a beautiful scent. It is the best Iris I have ever smelled. I believe the perfumers took the most beautiful part of Iris into the bottle. I can’t stop from smelling it. Even I don’t wear it, I need to smell it everyday as it is so good, gorgeous, beautiful and addictive. I own over 160 fragrances and this is easily and definitely top 5 in my collection. I’m living in Hong Kong, very hot and always over 30 degrees, but it still lasts over 12hrs on my skin and has a very good projection. The price is ridiculous but I still love it so much and will absolutely keep buying full bottles until it is discontinued. If you love Iris, powdery or floral scent, this is a must try.

Magnificent, truly excellent. One of the best perfumes ever. (Another one is J'adore l'or 2023.) Such high-quality perfumes are hard to come by. I'm so glad I had the courage to try it; the next day, I went and bought it. We've been tired of many niche category perfumes on the market turning into a horrible smell after two hours. We used to run home and scrub our skin to wash it off. First of all, it is definitely a feminine perfume. A wonderful iris scent. It lasted more than 20 hours on my skin; even after all those hours, it still smelled beautiful, and its essence never faded. Worth every penny. The new Maison Guerlain at Bangkok Central Chitlom is very elegant. It was a wonderful experience. High-quality and knowledgeable staff. Thank you, Guerlain.

Elegance and Art. Iris is certainly one of the rarest ingredients in perfumery and its scent is undoubtedly one of the best, and I can say that Guerlain managed to represent all the richness and majesty of this ingredient in this extract. Adorned with Almond and Sandalwood, Iris here also shows its woody side but in a very sophisticated and elegant way, nothing is excessive. It is slightly powdery and velvety with the texture of suede that further reinforces its extreme refinement. Nothing is as elegant as this, it is like a white haute couture shirt in which you will be elegantly dressed on any occasion without effort. Precious material from nature and spectacular artistic work by Delphine Jelk and Thierry Wasser!

Oh, God, this perfume. Possibly the fastest purchase after the initial test for me. I tried it and bought it immediately, in a few hours. Only one fragrance moved me as deeply as Iris Pallida before (De Profundis by Serge Lutens). Without a doubt, this the best iris fragrance in existence, rivaled maybe only by Iris Silver Mist, but they are very very different, and we never managed to become close friends. Iris Pallida is just out of this world. If you love iris, you simply have to experience it - buy a 2 ml sample spray on ebay, trust me, it's well worth $27, and one spray of this is all you need. I don't care that it costs $600+, I would have paid more (although I paid much less).

Well... this is awkward. I’ve spent years convincing myself the next iris would be “the one”. Apparently, this time it actually was. Soft, powdery, and beautifully bone dry before settling into a buttery, faintly sweet orris with a coldness that stops just short of austere. Every stage feels elegant and intentional. No rough edges, no shouting; just a stunningly sophisticated composition that gets better and better as it goes along, its development a celebration of iris in all its forms. So what am I supposed to do now? Stop buying iris perfumes? Of course not. I’m not that rational. But from this moment on, every iris I smell will be held to this standard. Game over.

This perfume is a masterpiece of natural essences. It feels magical, captivating, fresh yet so luxe and mysterious. No one ever can understand what I am wearing. Its a plethora of perfectly curated notes. I am not even an Iris lover, but the warmth of the almond is what caught me. I literally have worn this for every season, a spritz here and there because I am TRYING not use it up quickly. And for evening and day. I probably will have to buy a second as this is my new favorite perfume, I may say FOREVER. The price point is worth it for the caliber of perfume you are receiving. I would say this has to be my most expensive perfume but very, very worth it.

There’s a Fred Astaire song—“I’m in Heaven”—that I only remember because I’ve watched The Green Mile about a hundred times. It plays during one of those rare moments in a film where you feel completely transported. Where every thought, emotion, and memory seems to melt into one single feeling: peace, harmony... and a quiet sadness. That’s the nostalgia I feel when I wear Iris Pallida. Especially when I layer it with Loubirouge or Black Tie. It’s not just a fragrance—it’s a moment suspended in time. Strangely, the whole day feels like a dream when I wear it. It evokes something incredible in me—and often in those around me. I simply adore it.

Smelled it today at the store and received a sample. I was gonna come here and write a nice review, but then I saw the Nivea cream comparison and it’s all I can smell now... I hate y’all 😭 Edit: Okay I've sampled this for a couple of days now. It's such a beautiful and rich iris scent. On my skin it starts off as a powdery, musky iris scent. This evolves into the most heavenly orris butter supported by sandalwood and suède. The crazy part is that Guerlain made this goodness lasts for more than 10+ hours on my skin, and much longer on clothing. Is it worth €550 for 50ml? Only if you're an iris fanatic and are looking for the best of the best.

Finally got my hands on the FB, and I’m so glad I did. Prices in Japan were just too tempting (thank you, weak yen!), so it felt like the right time to splurge. IP6 is just stunning !! It’s refined, elegant, and has a beautifully powdery quality that is smooth and comforting. Projection-wise, it’s actually very strong. It’s not something I’d wear every day, and I wouldn’t recommend wearing it in a closed space like an office. it can become a bit much and might be too intense for those around you. This one is definitely best saved for special occasions or moments when you want your scent to leave an impression.

This is a beautiful, strong, subtly powdery iris with a semi-gourmand (though not like Shalimar Millesime Iris) feel from the not-too-marzipan-y almonds. There’s a soapiness here, too - at first sniff, it smells like very expensive cleaning solution, but that impression quickly fades and melds into a sense of clean, smooth leather that never outshines the iris itself. As the perfume dries down, the leather note dissipates, along with most if the almond note, leaving a clean, slightly soapy iris with just a touch of almond and very little powder. I love this, but I’ll have to be happy with my 1/2 ml decant.

This is a very ethereal cos iris that has some faint lipstick, powder, Güylian ganache seashells, and a whisper of smoke from long, skinny cigarettes. Maybe a copper lined ashtray spritzed with incense and the cigarillo is going out with lipstick residue on it slightly warmed from the last puff pull. Darlings! Absolutely devastated at having caved a severe “no iris” perfume ever again vow. “C’est la vie,” that’s what they say. If iris makes it anywhere in my collection, IP Extrait 6 will make it here. It is worth every pence, and it polishes up any amber with glossy shine.

Bullshit- this lasted 3 hours on your skin. Either you’re exaggerating or you got a fake or watered down decant. This projects for 3-5 hours and all the Extraits last 15-20 hours on the skin ans I have very dry skin. I can’t stand when people come on here and exaggerate. This is a buttery Iris with sweet almond nuances with a fantastic suede leather dry down. Smells more musky when you smell the vial/bottle but sprayed on skin this is divine. I will be buying a bottle soon! I have Tonka and Vanille- fantastic. If you have a partial bottle of Iris, pm me!!

This is amazing stuff man! I wish they made a 100ml of this. True to form, I smell all the notes listed (maybe not the almond), but the star is the iris and the high quality leather! I love a good leather note when it is done well. This is what I wanted Chanel's Misia or Comete to be! Comete reminds me too much of my grandma. This one is not mature smelling at all to me. Update: I take it back, it does remind me a bit of my grandma. Passing on getting a bottle :( Update2: Purchased the bottle...it's too goooood

Buttery, powdery Iris. musky warm sweet irises, not metallic cold irises. but it is not all irises, it has a hint of almond sweetness and creaminess to it. This one does evolve on skin, and it was a beautiful transformation each time. I love every step of it, except for the price hahaha... Considering the price, Do try it on your skin first, as this one was super wonderful on me, yet fleeting on a friend's skin. (The other way round happened on me and her with Extrait Jasmine).

I skipped this, the rose and bergamot one when it was launched last year. And now I fell head over heels for this perfume... This has to be one of the finest iris fragrance i’ve ever tried in my life. It’s buttery, powdery, slightly vanillic and creamy, with a touch of smokiness on the background. Great longevity (as expected) and creates this gentle, cocooning powdery whiffs all around me. My only complaint with this perfume is just the exorbitant price... $630?!???

Another awesome extract in this line from Guerlain with excellent longevity. This one together with the vanilla extract and the fabulous Jasmin extract are my favorite of the line. Too bad they're all so expensive. Though if I really like this, vanilla and jasmin, maybe I should just do what I always do: buy Shalimar instead (I'm pretty sure that if you layer these three you almost get Shalimar anyway, maybe with better longevity)

Heavenly. so beautiful that I almost never feel worthy enough to wear it. Incredibly luxurious, the bottle is stunning. I can feel every single note, carefully cultivated and crafted. The iris is elevated by almond, musk, a velvety leather accord, creamy sandalwood. Strong sillage, projection and longevity. I had never smelled iris pallida before, but this gave me an idea...the scent of angels

I might have already left a review but again, this is so stunning. For me it’s the best from the Extrait line, followed by vanilla and then Tonka. It’s equally almond, suede like Orris and a delicious musk. It’s a little naughty like showing a bare shoulder or a little thigh but the musk never gets too animalic. The sandalwood comes forward more on the dry down and it’s so creamy.

Iris iris and iris, from the opening until the dry down. Powdery with only a hint of lipsticky. Although a bit of other things present, the sweet creamy iris takes the center stage. If you are looking a reference for high quality iris, this is it. Very elegance, good sillage and the longivity is exceptional. Great for both wearing and layering. Love it.

This is an amazing Iris Perfume. It is buttery with great projection, I spray 4 times when wearing the scent, and I can smell it on myself for well over 14 hours, and longer on clothing. Well blended. As others have mentioned, not every perfume is targeted at the majority. For the Guerlain connoisseurs, this will be hard to pass up.

Gosh, I wish I hadn't got a sample :( Glad I did, but now I want a bottle. I get almond, iris, doughy, sweet and a slight powdery vibe. It really does come down to your personal DNA....I am happy that I know it's out there, because at some point, I would love to own it. I cannot think of any fragrance this reminds me of.

Stunning. I need to buy it again, it's so good and also so expensive but I've never smelt something that compare to that. It's not a cold iris but it's not really warm either. It is perfect to my nose, and it's even better when it's on skin, rich, buttery in a way, creamy, and full. I don't really get the almond.

Nothing like Celine La Peau Nu- which is more herbal and green. Iris Pallida is buttery, smooth and has a fantastic almond note after the waxy lipstick. Amazing projection and longevity and one of the few fragrances that I’m consistently complemented on

The best, and most “wearable” one in the Les Extraits line. Perfect buttery Iris - not too sweet, not too powdery. Worth the price tag, while the other line sisters are just syrupy recreations of Guerlain’s discontinued ghosts.

This is the best iris fragrance i have come across so far. And completely uni sex and if you don't like iris this will change your mind i have got samples of all extrait and all are bangers

The opening is extremely reminiscent of the raw material of orris butter - almost too strong for me. If I wait 15-30 minutes for it to fade away, it smells so wonderful and floral.

This opens very pastel, chalky and cosmetic (which I bizarrely enjoy) the iris soon warms into a creamy, cold, buttery scent bubble and it’s divine. This will be a joy to layer.

Smells like a woman. Feminine and elegant. I could not smell any leather in there but I love the iris a bit too much. Excellent fragrance. A bit too expensive.

If La Mer is a high quality Nivea cream then Iris Pallida is a high quality Nivea fragrance.

Probably the best iris i have ever came across.

The far dry down is reminiscent of the point at which woman’s sweat and a very nice freshly scented antiperspirant become one. Guerlain’s own Eau de Lingerie and Amouage Orris Wakan came to my mind more so than Celine’s La Peau Nue. I assume this extrait collection is sort of a novelty set for the generational wealthy since they are intended as a layering method to DIY semi-bespoke? $630 for 50 ml is too much for most of us but when you consider the cost to use as intended you’re really into $3,000.

Buttery... powdery, soft... picture a fuzzy delicate angora jumper in pale lilac. I also pick up delicate berry accords around the edges which gradually become more prominent on my skin. Longevity is good. My skin seems to devour fragrances, but 2 hours in and I'm still catching whiffs from one spray on my wrist. The scent is slightly sweet, slightly gourmand, slightly lactonic or creamy in the dry down. After about 4 hours it's a biscuity skin scent

I like this because it reminds me of an old superstar. Very natural smelling iris - powdery, nostalgic, like a forgotten beauty in an old garden. I dont find it incredible as a creation but for Iris lovers it is a beautiful and recommended scent

There are so many perfumes of this profile. This is lovely but that's it, it's just lovely. It's not the earth-shattering iris I want for the price of a holiday.

A beautifully refined iris scent – musky, powdery, and softly sweet. Elegant and comforting at the same time. Instantly fell in love.

Rooty, make-up like, violet. This definitely brings to mind the rare Dior "Passage No 8"--those rare limited edition Diors created just before 2010--and for a moment I was delighted to have the evocation of that long-lost fragrance. I prefer the Dior, which has more of a delicacy to it, as this sweet, "rooty cosmetic" iris rests on a base of synthetic sandalwood aromachemicals. It surely lasts forever. It also is surely not worth the inflated price tag. I imagine there is some iris butter in this, but it smells just as crafted from those standard modern building blocks like Hedione, ambroxan, etc as any other modern sweet-woody unisex iris.

Luxe scented face cream. Keep waiting for this to transform evertyime I test it but alas, no. By no means bad. Quality ingredients are evident. Quite lovely and demure actually, if you are of the clean, inoffensive, cosmetic ilk. I guess this would layer well with many things, but the price to use for layering is wild. I certainly would use it if it were gifted. Will forget about it once I finish up my sample.

This is so powdery that it took a while for my nose to actually pick up any notes. It's soft, with iris as it's main character for sure. There is definitely a sweet undertone brought by the musk and suede combination. Not my favourite of the extraits, and not for me, but if you like powdery, soft, iris fragrances that LAST this one is for you!

This was very .. interesting. To me this smells like a collection of dried nuts and fruits. Very aromatic and fragrant.. I don’t think it’s for me and again, the price is insanity.
