La Petite Robe Noire

This is the fragrance that started it all. I know that a lot of fellow Guerlain fans strongly dislike La Petite Robe Noire, but it has a very special place in my heart. It kickstarted my interest in Guerlain fragrances (perhaps the intention of the company...serving as an introduction to the brand for the young generation?) This led to a redefining of my tastes in perfume. I went from loving fragrances such as Viva La Juicy to classics like Vol de Nuit and discovering perfume beyond the mainstream world. I learned how to pick out notes in perfumery and identified my favorite ones. And I honed in on my absolute favorite type of fragrance: sweet and powdery. What sold me on LPRN was its complexity, the very distinct stages of development it undergoes, and most importantly, the soft, powdery vanillic base, which I realized after trying L'Heure Bleue, Vol de Nuit, and Shalimar Parfum Initial, that this was the famous Guerlinade. Never have I used a sample up so quickly, and never did I crave and desire a perfume as much as I did with LPRN...I was so desperate to have it, I bought my first bottle at Sephora, full price! LPRN quickly replaced my former all-time favorite perfume, D&G The One, which I ended up totally disliking (the peach note was sickly sweet and incredibly artificial, overwhelming the warm vanilla base to my nose, sadly!) This is the only perfume I have ever finished a bottle of. Since LPRN I have acquired and/or tested perfumes that come so close to my idea of the perfect perfume for myself (powdery, cosmetic inspired, floral, and sweet with a modern-meets-retro feel and containing most of my favorite notes): Terry de Gunzberg Ombre Mercure, Love, Chloe Eau Intense, Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose, and Chanel Misia. But they are not Guerlains. And LPRN remains my signature, even though it doesn’t fit the bill. And it doesn’t matter to me. Why? I’ll explain: My mom is always taking full advantage of my “large” perfume collection (she only owns just one bottle of perfume at a time). She’ll grab any bottle off my vanity, almost everything in perfumery smells good to her. But she *never* touches LPRN because she knows it’s my “favorite”, as much as she adores the scent. Even my baby brother and my friends have said that my car smells like LPRN, even though I wear different perfumes daily! Also, I apply just a couple spritzes of perfume on my arms every day, so it’s very rare for me to get comments but LPRN is one of the very few that seems to get noticed and complimented on (and the most often too!) by coworkers. So it truly is a fragrance that people associate with me. LPRN opens with a blast of cherry and red berries. Not sickeningly sweet or medicinal whatsoever to my nose (trust me, I work in a pharmacy!) Bergamot adds freshness, the almonds contribute powder, the vanilla and tonka some sweetness, the licorice and anise a slight spicy nuance, the roses a floral touch. Very complex and layered, with distinct stages of development. At the final stage, the drydown, is the signature luscious, powdery sweet, almost gourmand Guerlinade. You can still get whiffs of the opening every now and then though. It lasts all day on my skin, and I can smell the heavenly drydown into the next day. One of the best perfumes in terms of longevity that I’ve ever tried. Good sillage too, I can easily smell it on myself throughout the day. Although LPRN is marketed towards young women, I feel it is ageless. I am in Guerlain’s target demographic for the fragrance but I can see myself wearing it 20 years from now and beyond. And as mainstream as it seems (a fruity floral with patchouli, a dime a dozen at your local department store), the composition’s “long-term freshness” (which Luca Turin notes is a characteristic that Thierry Wasser excels at) juxtaposed with the fruity sweetness and most importantly, the heavy dose of Guerlinade, separates it from everything else in that category. Plus, LPRN is so versatile to me- I can wear it anytime, anywhere. Day or night, hot or cold, no matter what I’m wearing. Is it the first perfume that comes to mind when choosing a perfume to wear with a little black dress (or anything fancy)? Honestly, I’d consider Guerlain classics such as Shalimar, L’Heure Bleue, Vol de Nuit, Nahema, or Chamade first, or even the very recent (and also highly underrated) Insolence. Nevertheless, I have worn it at night and/or for special occasions, even layering it with L’Heure Bleue quite a few times (gasp!) The name and bottle panders to the target demographic. The bottle is the classic heart-shaped stopper bottle used for two legendary Guerlains, Mitsouko and L’Heure Bleue, but given a makeover with a purple/mauve ombre, cute LBD motif, and a pink ribbon with the brand’s name on the neck. It bolsters LPRN’s modern-meets-retro aesthetic. But Guerlain could’ve dumped the juice into the ugliest bottle in history and named it anything else but I know it wouldn’t affect or change my perception of this perfume. In summary, La Petite Robe Noire is for the woman who adores vintage glamour, but doesn’t (or can’t) go full-on Dita Von Teese every day. Jeans are one of her favorite things to wear (unlike Dita who doesn’t own any), but no matter what, she is always polished and well-groomed. She greatly admires and embraces retro beauty and fashion, but incorporates modern ideas and trends into her aesthetic as well. Her style is chic and sophisticated, but a little quirky too. That describes me to the T. COMPARISONS: Vs. Lolita Lempicka: LPRN is often compared to Lolita Lempicka because they share cherry, licorice, almond, and anise yet they are still so different from each other. Lolita Lempicka is a lot more gourmand and linear from start to finish. It doesn’t read as very fresh either, plus it lacks one of the definitive characteristics of LPRN: Guerlinade. Vs. Chantal Thomass EDP: This is a lot closer to LPRN because it contains cherries AND red berries, which I realized play a bigger role in LPRN than I thought before trying CT. CT has heliotrope though, and smells a lot fruitier, and of course it too lacks Guerlinade and Thierry Wasser’s signature lasting freshness. Vs. EDT and flankers: EDT smells identical to EDP. Couture and Eau Fraiche smell incredibly similar as well but Couture seems to have more patchouli while Eau Fraiche seems to be even more, well, fresh. I need to retest to confirm that it is nuttier. Guerlain Recommendations: Other sweet and powdery modern Guerlains to look into are Shalimar Parfum Initial (recently discontinued), Insolence, My Insolence, French Kiss, L’Instant Magic (also recently D/C), L’Heure de Nuit, and Guet Apens/Attrape Coeur/Vol de Nuit Evasion (all 3 sadly VHTF).

When I look at the way I used to dress ten years ago, and the way I dress now, or the way I used to carry myself back then and the way I carry myself now, all that comes to my mind is how much more confident I am now. While I stared longingly at young me’s thin waist and flat tummy and that sharp jawline, I also felt like reaching out to her and saying, “Chin up, baby. Speak louder. Walk taller. Take up space.” The young me wouldn’t have dared to wear a rep lipstick. Or worn a perfume that invited attention. I believe that’s a thing, isn’t it? It’s easy to wear crowd pleasing perfumes, the pastel florals and yellow citruses. Maybe even the watered down fruity perfumes once in a while. It’s easy to wear them because you know they won’t offend anyone, and most importantly, won’t make people notice you. So if you’re a person who doesn’t want to invite attention, you would gravitate towards such perfumes. I’d know – I used to be one of them. My brother-in-law – who I believe has the best taste in perfumes AND clothes – is the other kind. If perfumes are our calling cards, his is a billboard with neon lights that announces his arrival wherever he goes. It’s not just his perfume though. That man has a personality to match. He’s the life of the party, the guy telling the funniest jokes, the one around whom everyone’s seated, hanging on to each word he says. I am not that person, at all. In fact, throw me in a room full of people, and I will find a nook and try to make myself invisible. But strangely enough, when it comes to the way I dress, I have started to believe that I’m not overdressed, everyone else is simply underdressed. My red lipstick shines bright like a siren, and my perfumes? Well, I am finally warming up to the idea of wearing my personality on my wrist. And other pulse points. La Petite Robe Noire is predominantly a sour cherry perfume. At first sniff, it smells almost spicy to me, even though there are no spice notes listed for the perfume. The sour cherry and the black currant lends this perfume a dramatic and almost rich overtone. The EDP is apparently a richer version of it, and this one’s a lighter affair that fares better in summer days, but to me, this is not your everyday wear-to-work or even brunch perfume. I find myself reaching for this perfume whenever I make the extra effort to dress up, when I know I am going to wear heels, for instance (I’m a flats woman through and through) or wear foundation and blush (I usually wear lipstick and mascara and call it a day) This is definitely a sexy, date-night scent. I’m talking glossy silks and swishing satins, fiery red lipstick and sky high heels, velvety wine and decadent chocolate desserts. And when the night is over, long after you reach home, the gorgeous wisps of cherry lingering on your skin will remind you of the best parts of the evening – the intimate conversations, the stolen kisses, and the walk to the cab, your finger intertwined.

I've been meaning to try this for so long as I was attracted to the licorice and anise notes along with sour cherry. I picked up the cute little refillable heart flaçon (20ml) as a generous sample, which is really pretty and travel friendly. I am also not a fan of the black dress design as someone mentioned below- it'd be lovely if they did a large heart bottle incidentally. I was quite blown away by how very pleasant this is, but it's not at all what I was expecting. The sour cherry is realistic and very fruity, not at all medicinal or cough syrupy to me. Just pure sour cherry. There is also a light citrus zing ,like a crushed lemon leaf being proffered under your nose, I suppose it is the bergamot but this is not at all the juicy, wet fruit fragrance I had imagined. It comes across as quite a warm, slightly woody, dry scent with powder from the iris , the rose feels like dried rose petals and the licorice is not the chewy candy, nor a herbal infusion but a natural, dry, brown licorice stick, the twig type we used to have as kids from the health food shop that I was never quite sure if I liked or not but they were strangely addictive. I don't sense the anise as much, nor almond. The tea is also dry and aromatic, imagine a pink tin from Whittards with dried black leaves , a light Lapsang Souchong and shreds of dried sour cherry and a few anise seeds sprinkled in. I really do like it but it's quite subtle, not an overpowering fruitchouli, it's soft, elegant and beautifully blended. It reminds me of the comforting sort of scent that would emanate from your mother's best handbag at a formal afternoon event, borderline leathery at times. Dry, chic, a little sweet, a little sour, something papery, a little pot pourri and the promise of pot-brewed tea in a cup and saucer. I find it somehow nostalgic yet something new to my nose. Guerlain are really just great at what they do. I'd say this is all season friendly, a good signature that you could wear in many situations but the licorice won't be for everyone. It's quite moderate in all the ranking aspects. It's an atypical cherry fragrance but well worth a try. It ever so slightly reminds me of Jardins de Misfah by Une Nuit Nomade. I would certainly consider a FB to refill the adorable heart. 💝

When this came out I couldn't deal with the sweet and gourmand facets, and basically ignored it. Now that I've found an-almost full 50 ml bottle in a thrift shop, it's interesting to re-assess LPRN since all the fuss has died down. Reading through the often dismissive reviews on the major blogs back in the early 2010s, I see it was compared unfavourably to Lolita Lempicka. Or that the 'little black dress' concept belonged to Chanel, so what was Guerlain thinking? Or that Avon already had a fragrance called 'The little black dress' (now d/c) so again, what was Guerlain thinking? Of course what Guerlain was thinking was to make as much money as possible, and there followed a bewildering parade of flankers, variants and LEs (backed up by a bunch of adorably animated video ads using Nancy Sinatra's 'Boots' as the soundtrack). There was a LPRN for every time and occasion, one your hair, for your lingerie, and they might have done a version for your dog had not they decided at last to turn to Mon Guerlain as the next cash cow. Having smelled a lot of perfume in the last decade and shed some of my own snooty views (I hope), and now that most of the flankers are gone, I can at last appreciate this, the 2012 EDP. The opening is joyful, and although the cherry berry sweetness still bothers me a little, I can smell through it to the many other notes and accords. I get most of them including a teasing little plastic accord somewhere in there, and superb patchouli at the end. This is a sophisticated, multi-faceted fragrance which unfolds slowly and leaves a fantastic trail. There is much that is interesting to smell, even if I don't love it all. This not a cheap or cynical effort, this is Guerlain maintaining its tradition of classical perfumery. I find that obvious now that I've smelled so much mediocrity in the last 10 years. Finally - this stuff is powerful. A couple of sprays last all day on me and I don't have to hunt for it on my skin after an hour. Walking through a mist of this is heavenly.

I go back and forth on whether I like this or not. When first applied, it is so strong I can't determine which scent note is blasting my nose the way Violet usually does. I think maybe it's the licorice & anise. It comes off as sharp and old lady like at first (maybe I over sprayed?). Then around the 20 min mark, it mellows a bit and becomes this "elegant" scent. My favorite part is the dry down when smells a little more earthy. LPN EDP is mixed so beautifully, all the notes seem to meld nicely & smells balanced to my nose. It lasts forever on me & any fabric it touches as I kept getting soft whiffs of it on my furry comforter a WEEK after I used it! The bottle is gorgeous and I love how the sprayer works, but idk if it fits my personality. Regardless, its a beautiful perfume and I'm glad I purchased it. On another note, I was so confused trying to find the perfume I bought here on Fragantica bc the dress on the bottle l purchased look like the ones pictured for the Absolue, Intense, EDT and other flankers. On the box of my purchase it says "Eau De Parfum" but here, the dress shows the original 2012 bottle. I checked the batch code for my perfume and the year produced was 2023. I just find their marketing very confusing lol. Also...when I smelled this at the store, it was SO light I don't think the sales lady could smell it on my wrist bc she looked at me like I was crazy when I declared, "I think I actully like this! It could be my everyday perfume." To be fair, I had the faintest traces of my morning fragrance still on my wrist when this was sprayed on my wrist and maybe it had a canceling out effect, idk.

Today I decided to wear this side-by-side with Black Perfecto (EdP) just to see what the differences really are. As I often wore them separately, the differences weren't super obvious... until today. This is far brighter, and much more intriguing than the gothic flanker. Much more wearable, and not at all a dupe of Lolita Lempicka. It's also interesting to see it compared to L'Homme Ideal EdP. I can see why this was done, but they aren't exactly very similar. This is a case of a fragrance having a similar vibe, but going in a different direction. However, if you like LPRN, you'll likely enjoy L'Homme Ideal. Not exactly vice versa, however. LPRN is much stronger and has a medicinal tone to it. This fragrance really starts to sing after about 20 or so minutes, with the bergamot and tea becoming much more pronounced. This occurs, I assume, due to the intensity of the other notes drowning them out. The first 20 minutes is where it's at its most medicinal. Once that fades, it turns into this extremely sweet spicy fragrance with a nice and warm base built from vanilla, tonka, patchouli and almond. It's a pretty unusual experience but once you get used to it, it's not altogether outside of the Guerlain sphere. Now that its been out for almost a decade, it doesn't feel fresh anymore and when it came out it didn't really either, but it was sort of unique. I guess it still is. This is a popular fragrance, but you rarely smell it on others. Here in Australia, it's actually sort of a hidden secret.

Guerlain are just geniuses, alright? I don't know how a fragrance house can make me semi-psychotic about getting a bottle of almost cherry-flavoured medicine, but Guerlain win that particular trophy. That black cherry, liquorice, and anise combination is pungently sweet and room-filling on first spray. A minute after I sprayed this, I went to a meeting (because that's how I roll), and a colleague exclaimed, "OH! Who's got that lovely fruity perfume on?!" It then settles to an uber-glamourous scent. Rest assured, it *does* calm down. It's still cherry-heavy, but that almond is actually quite gentle, and I do honestly detect a small amount of rose and iris which I believe brings the glam factor (Not The X-Factor, geddit?). Also a slight hint of powder that might be from the iris, but I feel this is what gives it an old-school femme fatale vibe to it. I feel like I should be carrying a long cigarette holder while wearing this (I don't smoke). Predominantly, this is a fruity gourmand. Veeeery small amount of floral. It's also super-synthetic, but in the best possible way. You might wear a little black dress with this. You might wear jeans and your best Nirvana band T-shirt. Or a singlet with combat boots. Or a flipping clown-suit. I don't mind, Perfumites, but WEAR this because it's delicious, fun, and attention-getting. Longevity good, but still want longer. Sillage awesome. Bottle? One of the best! Make your way to the front of the display dresser, please. *** Kitty rating: 9/10.

I do think this is similar to Lolita Lempika, but to my nose doing a side by side comparison LL is heavier. LL is musky and the anise is much more prominent, I think the licorice note in LPRN is sweeter. They are both powdery, but LL is a heavy powder compared to a much lighter more delicate powder in LPRN. To me they could be sisters with totally different personalities. LL being the older edgier sister, dark and brooding, with a very loud personality, where LPRN is the brighter, happier, sweet younger sister with a very even temperament. I love them both (LL was my very first perfume blind buy years ago, and the first perfume I ever ordered online!) I truly think I might like LPRN just a little more. It is an easier reach for me. I sprayed one on each of my arms and LL is definitely more dominant, as I’m sitting here typing this, it is all I can smell! My bottle is a few years old, so I don’t know if it has gotten stronger or if it has always been loud. I haven’t given LPRN a full wear yet just a test on my arm, so I don’t know about silage or longevity yet, but the smell is wonderful. I don’t get cough syrup or any medicinal scent at all. On first spray, I smell sweet cherries mixed with red berries and a little bit of citrus that brightens it. The licorice comes out to play after about 10 or so minutes with the roses and I can detect a little dusting of powder. I think it is a very feminine fragrance that can be worn on any occasion or in any season.

Although this fragrance often gets dismissed for being just another floral fruity, I think it is actually a lot more sophisticated than people give it credit for. Sure it opens up with a giant nose of cherry, but it doesn't take long for that cherry to develop into something more. On my skin, the licorice appears shortly after the initial cherry hit. This licorice gives the cherry an interesting twist, a slightly bitter and herby note that on others may read as medicinal. But on me it just makes the cherry less sweet. It is soon joined by a smokey tea accord, adding depth to this cherry affair. After the sweet, herby, and smokey notes play for awhile, La Petite Robe Noir reveals its pedigree as the characteristic Guerlain base takes hold. The tonka bean and iris come to play, bringing the powder. This rounds out and smooths the fragrance, giving it that luxurious, almost velvet quality that I love. Longevity and sillage are typical for a Guerlain, which is to say excellent. And of course, the bottle itself is beyond gorgeous. I enjoy this fragrance immensely and think it definitely is worthy of the Guerlain name. It takes a trendy concept and elevates it to another level. Worth a sniff, do not dismiss this one out of hand for being fruity or gourmand.

Oh, I think this 30ml size of LPRN that I just received is perfect. It's a perfect size to stash in your bag for a discreet refresh. It's sweet but in a refined way. It looks and smells classy with an impish grin. I love the little black dress painted on the bottle. I think a woman of any age could wear this. I suppose if a guy liked the notes, he could pull it off too. Someone described the cherry notes as maraschino cherries. Yes, I think that's right. It smells like distilled syrup. It's not heavy and cloying. Others compare this fragrance to Lempicka. I see the resemblance. But LPRN is a much more refined version. I actually like Lempicka very much. But Lempicka is a daytime perhaps casual and boisterous fragrance, while LPRN seems more chic - something to wear to the theater and then on to a late night supper or an evening event at the art gallery or museum. This is so well-blended like Mon Guerlain. But I think I prefer LPRN. I have heard LPRN is more popular in Paris than Mon Guerlain and it's the opposite in the states. Actually, LPRN may be a more mild version of Shalmar or even Mitsouko. This is contemporary chypre. Anyway, this is a love at first sniff.

This stuff is so good! I know that’s a generic statement but with so many cherry perfumes out on the market and how easily they can come off like cough drops or cough syrup or synthetic or just straight up weird or sometimes you can barely detect any chair at all, This incredibly vintage amazing house has a weight with making their perfumes almost smell like perfection. This is cherry done in the most elegant, beautiful manner that I’ve experienced so far. It’s still young and modern. It doesn’t smell dated, but it also smells very rich and classy and elegant and just something that sophisticated and well done. It’s hard to do that with Cherry cause it can easily smell juvenile or just like a fun perfume but not a serious perfume. This perfume is sexy delicious fun but also serious in the sense that it is well-made it does not smell gimmicky or like candy. It’s gorgeous. Wearing it today and so happy. I have a teeny tiny 1 ounce bottle, but I love it

I purchased this on a whim, and I'm so glad that I did. The scent is a sweet complexity with unique layers. Upon spraying, warm fruity notes enveloped in almond gently transition into blossoming florals and sweetly-bitter licorice. The patchouli notes aren't as overwhelming for me here, which is excellent as patchouli is usually a hit or miss on my skin. The scent is pleasant and sweet without being gourmand. Vanilla notes compliment the almond notes after its dry-down. Altogether, all of the events blend beautifully together and it warms with your body temperature. It fills every room I enter and I receive compliments on It all the time. In fact, I touched an envelope to my dress while wearing this and others told me that they could smell this perfume on the paper of the envelope. It clings to what it touches, so if you’re more into subtle scents then this may not be for you.

This was my first designer fragrance and it will never not be a part of my collection. I have a more trained nose now, and looking back, this is definitely an acquired taste! Idk how I bought this as my first fragrance. It’s not because I didn’t test many perfumes and I didn’t have anything to compare it to. No, even back then I tested lots of designer perfumes before committing to a FB. Honestly, I’d like to think that this perfume chose me lol. That being said, this is a true licorice-cherry fragrance, all the other notes are supporters imo. It’s really unique and lovely. The name is perfect. Back when I first got this fragrance, I didn’t think so, but now I get major y2k vibes from this perfume. I’m 21 years old but if I ever have a daughter in the future and if this perfume is still around I will definitely buy this for her just like my mom did for me 🫶

This was an impulse buy in Paris on my part back in 2013, but I'm surprised that people have rated this perfume so poorly. I do think that calling this "the little black dress" is a bit of a misnomer - I don't think it's the perfume that works for everything and everyone, as a little black dress would. LPRN comes across as playful, flirty, and sensuous to me and it's the kind of scent that stays on your mind. The blast of sour cherry and licorice at the opening may not everyone's cup of tea but she's not here to please you, you have to keep up with her if you want to get to know her better. The syrupy tea and vanilla drydown smells absolutely delicious especially in colder weathers, so it might have worked better named as "the black fur coat". Despite living in tropical country, I absolutely love this and continue to wear them to evening events here.

I blind bought based on my favourite youtube reviewer. I wanted a sexy scent that equals my usual Chanel No. 5. This did not disappoint! Upon opening the cellophane wrapping, I could smell it, tore open the box and the scent burst out and I anticipated it like a groom-to-be is anxious for his wedding night. I let the fragrance linger & simply enjoyed the aroma before I opened the bottle and got my first taste. I applied only 1 spray and was wrapped immediately in a seductive nightie, red roses on the bedside alongside a bowl of fresh cherries, an iced glass of cool sweet earl Grey tea. Leonard Cohen notes fill the room and my Man, fresh from a shower, clicks off the lights, bathing us in moonlight. OK ok, if a parfum creates a fantasy, it's definitely great. Thank you Guerlain, I'll be having many sleepless but erotic nights ode to you.

My first fragrance in 2012! Haven't tried the reformulation - just ordered the 2012 version online. After all these years it's still one of my favorite fragrances. My skin does very well with gourmand and musky scents, and this perfume is no different - for me, the sour cherry really stands out and even lingers the most, as well ass the almond notes. Almond and tonka seem to stay in the drydown as well, but this might be specific for my skin, as I've heard mixed reviews about the drydown. Very distinct scent for any occasion. Wore it when I was 15 wearing it again at 28, appropriate for both age groups imo. Extremely sweet (and sour from the cherry) and strong, so it might take someone with an acquired taste to wear this. I like to smell like a bakery, so this scent is perfect for me. Not a huge sillage but definitely leaves a track.

This is my signature smell for many years. I just cannot get enough of this. It is sexy, sensual and my most complimented smell of all time, although it isn't crowd pleasing and definitely not a safe blind buy, when I wear it I get tons of compliments. It is a sweet fragrance but definitely not girly pink scent - the sour cherry in combination with liquorice give it a nice almost fresh edge - a little bit medicinal, but I love it. It dries down into a more powdery, sweet vanilla-floral scent with a hint of anise, but somewhere behind is still that reminescence of cherry. Such a unique fragrance. I tried many cherry fragrance this year and they are all either too sweet/syrupy or dark/smoky. Only minus is longevity - it has to be reformulated, because I remember when it came out, it lasted till second day, now it is like 4 hours.

Was looking for a summer scent, bought a pack with five different minis from Guerlain- this among them. Admittedly it’s definitely not a summer scent but I’ll probably still indulge myself on special evenings (hopefully I won’t run out by autumn, cause I want this on me all of September-November tbh). I ADORE this, and that’s no surprise. Sour cherry is easily one of my favorite notes, and I always love grounded fruity scents like this. I will say, comparing it to some of my all time faves (Dior Poison Girl, GG Elixir) this feels a little on the sleazier side, closer (in vibe, not necessarily scent, as those are all pretty distinctly different) to Britney’s Midnight Fantasy, which was a previous signature of mine until I ran out. Im absolutely considering finding a full size bottle of this for autumn.

So I just recently quit smoking and it's helped me smell fragrances a lot better than I used to. This one never used to wear all that well; it'd fade away after three or four hours and a lot of the nuance just wasn't there. Now, however, I can really smell the Guerlainade. I never could sense it before. The tonka, cherries, anise, rose, and almond are mostly what you smell at first, and it can be a bit overpowering. After that, it's mostly that but with a similar bergamot to what you'd find it Eau de Shalimar or Shalimar Cologne. The vanilla, which was always there, becomes softer and there's a lovely powdery touch from the iris. I'm glad I decided to keep this, rather than give it away.

I have found my new love. The fragrance opens up with airy cherry, brerries, and liquorice and spicy notes. It feels so sexy, warm and inviting. It makes me feel extremely feminine and want to put on something nice to go with the fragrance. The base notes are soft and powdery. It feels so special to me as I seldom come across something with clear liquorice in the notes. In the overall it is a very elegant blend and fits perfectly with any evening outfit. Performance is great and it can easily keep for 6 hours. I must admit the bottle design is somewhat fancy with the crystal clear black contrasted by the clear inverted heart cap. I just blind bought this and really love it.

An obsessive, sickly love that's just a bit too much for some. But for others, it's exactly what they're looking for--it's comforting, and a home they always return to. I'm in love. Literally in love. Nothing beats this. I've been looking for more medicinal-smelling frags for the longest time, and I finally decided to spend on this. I hate rose, so at first I was super skeptical, but surprisingly, rose doesn't show up a lot on me. What does show, however, is the obviously fruity smell, and the medicininal note. Based on the image, I was expecting more of a pink bottle, but in real life, it's more mahogany. Just pointing this out in case anyone's confused!

This was the first perfume I ever bought myself. I love the depth, warmth and spiciness of the cherry, licorice, patchouli combo. When I first put on this scent years ago as a sephora sample, I honestly hated it... it was so potent and felt mature for my little 20 year old self. After an hour or so of wear when I got the dry down, I kept smelling something intoxicating... turns out it was this perfume. I always feel sexy, sophisticated and confident when I wear it, and it's totally what I needed in my early 20s, and I have such great scent memories from this. I still have my original bottle from 2012 and I doubt I'll ever get rid of it!

I bought this as a blind buy and am so in love with it so far! I genuinely have no idea what people mean when they comment on a 'cherry cough syrup' scent, as on my skin at least it primarily smells of rose and bergamot with a hint of a cherry that doesn't feel close to overbearing or synthetic. The vanilla and patchouli bottom notes in this are gorgeous, and I get a good 9 hours on my skin before it becomes undetectable. If you're a fan of beautiful, feminine yet powerful fragrances then I'd absolutely recommend this. I can't wait to try the Intense version, and hopefully get my hands on a bottle of Black Perfecto!

so interesting to see mixed reviews on this fragrance !! this was a great blind buy from me and even better then i thought it would be based on the notes ✦.* the cherry note is absolutely divine and reminds of glacé cherries ゚+。:.゚((⌯'ᴗ'⌯))゚.:。+゚ almond frags are really hit or miss for me because i hate that play doughy smell some give off but imo it's very pretty here !! to me this is definitely a very youthful frag but it's definitely got a darker vibe to it then other similar perfumes. overall this frag really reminds me of a cherry bakewell but with this sexy and almost peppery(?) undertone

Does not deserve all of the hate it gets. Just because it's a "fruity-floral" doesn't mean it's low quality or that Guerlain has sold-out. A perfume doesn't need to be a spicy-musky powerhouse of a fragrance to be exceptional! It's a lovely perfume, high quality and deserving of the name Guerlain. The tartness of the cherry with the powdery-sweetness of the tonka bean, almonds and vanilla is delicious, but the licorice, tea and anise keep it interesting and give it an edge. And of course the signature "Guerlinade" is present. Beautiful, feminine, glorious. Love the bottle as well, so chic!

Late to the party but this Little Black Dress deserves a higher rating. In spring time it's so juicy and addictive. Can you imagine I craved this scent when I wasn't wearing it? It's smooth and fruity but in a dark way. I kept smelling myself. Longevity is great. There's depth in it. Yes, I smell the licorice note and it reminds me of LL, but I like this one better. It's fresh yet complexe and dark and sultry. Imagine walking through a forest seeing and smelling wafts of big, juicy and dark cherries hanging on trees while you feel the air on your skin.. at night! I'm in love.

This doesn’t smell at all as I imagined when I blind bought it. From the reviews, I was expecting something very sweet, and juvenile, with a slight cherry cough syrup note. Instead I found something much lighter than expected, much like a Mon Guerlain Intense with cherry instead of lavender. The tea note is lovely, and for someone (like me) who is not a big fan of cherry notes, this one hits the spot perfectly. Not overly sweet, but very easy to wear. Now I’m looking forward to receiving the Black Perfecto, hoping that will be another blind buy success ☺️

One of my all time favourite perfumes. A fruity cherry perfume done right. The cherry is so lovely in this. Deep, heavy, not too sweet, but warm and spicy. And then this beautiful, rich cherry sits so perfectly on these iconic Guerlain base notes. What a warm, soft, well rounded perfume this is. I never smelled its flakers and only know the original. In fact, the bottle I have is from the release year. If you are into well blended, warm cherry perfumes, which don't intrude, then this is a perfect perfume for you.

I would consider this a OG cherry almond scent. It’s very floral cherry, were the Taif rose comes into play. I can see where this gets ‘reminds me of” Lolita Lempicka vibes due to the licorice. Very nice for fall and winter with an excellent sillage and up to a full day wear longevity. I had bought my bottle at Disney a few years ago, and it’s still lovely and going strong. Guerlain is a favorite house of mine and has many verisons of this in their collection. I give this a 8/10 due that it can come on strong!

Wow. This is so romantic and pretty. It smells youthful yet timeless, serious yet playful. It’s a gourmand lover’s fairytale. It reminds me of what it would be like using a cherry Twizzler to drink your Coke.....only you’re at an outdoor cafe in Paris. I only purchased a 30ml bottle, and now I could kick myself for not getting the full 100ml. Let’s see how long this one lasts. I bet it’s gone before the summer is over. Have I finally found my signature scent?

My signature scent for a while after a coworker shared what she was wearing! It makes me feel feminine and strong. I love how the licorice and tea balance the sweetness of the cherry and almond. I knew I liked cherry after smelling TF Lost Cherry, this has the same almond-cherry accord. But La Petit Robe Noir amps it up into a distinctive and elegant scent, rather than a simple and too candy scent. This is officially the first full bottle I've repurchased.

So SEXY & SWEET. It’s such a beautiful cherry fragrance that doesn’t smell medicinal or bitter at all. It’s extremely feminine, sweet, and a little bit tart and spicy - perfectly balanced. It slowly dries down a little more vanillic with a hint of the patchouli, but I was still able to detect the gorgeous cherry and almond. This would be great on a date night or special occasion. It’s strong and the longevity is fantastic.

My mother HATES it, i honestly like it, smells medicinal but in a cozy way, like a "petrolic" jam of mermalade, lol, the problem are the tonka beans, that spice generally touches the rest of the shades of this nice combination, the licorice smells too sour and dont think is the tea note, generally tonka makes noise of the middle and inicial phase of its jammy composition, i like it but is not an easy wearable sweety scent

Truly a beautiful scent, something about this perfume just intrigues me I can’t put my finger down on what that is exactly. it is truly unique and that’s what I enjoy about it. plus the bottle is absolutely gorgeous and kind of what drew me to the fragrance in the first place, I will say the longevity of the perfume kind of lets it down a little in my opinion it doesn’t last as long as I had hoped or been told it would.

Beautiful fragrance , very sultry . I get a sweet cherry with the hint of licorice that almost has a small leather vibe in there but no leather or suede are listed and makes this fragrance feel almost chewy . It’s like a maraschino cherry blended with the licorice. And the dry down is ever better with the warm spice . I could see wearing this on a date night , or cooler weather . It’s pretty long lasti on my skin

My opinion is, this is so much better than Mon Guerlain and less of a strain on your wallet. When I wear this, women are usually the ones who usually say "Ooo, you smell so good!" Men just stop still to get another whiff. It is not medicinal at all. Between the cherries, berries, almond, roses, tonka, high quality vanilla, and a touch or iris to elevate it, it is just lovely.

Absolutely stunning cold scent, I love cold scents. A really good cherry and tea scent. The cold air allows the fragrance to wafts brilliantly. It has a really unique , unusual smell, quite moody but not so much. Makes you want to go for walks and be reflective. I wonder if anyone on here has the same experience or wears it differently. It is a chic scent.

Reminds me of Christine in Phantom of the Opera when she’s in her dressing room surrounded by roses. A gorgeous rose tinted sour by the kiss of champagne. This is really beautiful, there’s a lovely powdery almond that sort of sits in my nose at each breath. Very ingenue but still so sultry. Can’t wait to wear this all through the holiday season!

This is such a delicious scent all my favourite notes just so special is similar to poison girl edp but I actually prefer this one more I won’t reach for it all the time but during the colder months this smells sophisticated and elegant I can imagine wearing this to s dinner party with a beautiful maroon dress so happy I bought this blind buy

Very sexy. Its deep, dark and smoky. I love scents that has a smoky cigarette vibe, and this one has that. Not heavy or strong, this is perfectly blended :) I love it and it will be a new favorite for fall. I can smell rose, licorice, cherry and vanilla. The patchouli is not strong, it just makes it a little deeper. LOVE.

A powerful, yet delicate woman. This stuff is just amazing! I feel adventurous when I'm wearing this and I never feel like that haha. The cherry, the almond and other ingredients are beautifully blended and work together perfectly in creating this mouth-watering and special scent. This is the Guerlain that I love!

A medicinal , black sour cherry. I love this. It resembles a witch brewing a love potion on Halloween. It’s has all the herbal accords like Anise, Licorice and even resembles a dried tea leaves texture. So creative, elegant and innovative, I will say this is one most men won’t understand. It’s for the girls .

Had this on yesterday. First spray was sweet, the almond really came through for me. After it settled on my skin, the liquorice came through with the anise. This is a beautiful scent. Nothing like the many perfumes I have. Lasted a decent amount of hours. I got a whiff of it throughout the night.

I absolutely love this! The cherry, rose and licorice combo has my name all over it. But I can also understand why it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I find it so sweet and sexy, with the perfect amount of darkness. Very similar to Mancera Cherry Cherry, though this is more velvety and feminine.

It’s similar this opens up more fruity and black perfecto is more strong leather tea note it’s very similar after the opening I have both You can wear this during the day and black perfecto during the evenings and night outs Projection longevity is about the same on both

Definitely there is a hint of pipe tobacco mixed with the cherry at the opening. I love this scent, it is not for all you " I love to smell like produce" girls. This is for a woman who loves to smell bold and different. An autumn winter scent.

I adore this fragrance although it's a bit generic. It's sexy and very yummy with the cherries (which is pretty much the only note I smell). Very disappointed that all of the flankers and the original one smell for not even an hour on me...

A really beautiful grown up fruity floral. I don’t get why this has so many negative reviews but I find it a lovely take on the fruity floral genre of scents without being too overpowering, sickly or childlike.

One of my favourites from Guerlain. If it's possible for a fragrance to be sweet, fruity, flirty, seductive & profound than this is it. I always feel great when I wear it.
