La Petite Robe Noire Ma Première Robe

La Petite Robe Noire is a decent sweet gourmand that owes a lot to its predecessor, Lolita Lempicka. It was also Guerlain's go-to cash cow before Mon Guerlain was launched, and spawned countless pointless flankers, one of which is this scent, Ma Première Robe. While the DNA of the original is present here, MPR is a thinner, more sugary version that lacks the nuance of the original. While it is a reasonably decent cherry scent, it is certainly less good than the cute-but-clever gourmand that is LPRN. MPR opens with sweet liqueur-like cherry that dominates this scent. There is a tartness to the opening, thanks to the redcurrants and bergamot, providing a nice counterpoint to the cherry. Powdery rose follows, alongside almond, which, alongside the cherry note, serve to form the LPRN DNA. It reminds me of a cherry bakewell tart here. This is likely because there is no anise or iris to add nuance here. The drydown is marzipan-like thanks to the almond and tonka bean accord in the base. Some vanilla adds sweetness, and it becomes slightly musky as it fades. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A sweet, simple cherry-almond scent, MPR is girlishly pleasant, but feels pointless alongside the original, as is frequently the way with flankers. Still, nice for what it is. A simple, cheaper alternative to TF Lost Cherry. 3/5.

I have yet to test the original Petite Robe Noire, but I enjoy the interplay between a light but sweet cherry jam, transitioning to a Lolita Lempicka type of feeling. That licorice note is definitely similar, albeit lighter and made to smell more mature, with a refined vanilla base. This is very sweet, as many newer Guerlains are, but the vanilla is addictive, because it isn't as sweet and intense as most vanillas out there. This is never "fresh", but also not deep or particularly rich. It stands candied, with a deliciousness, but I don't feel edible, so it works for me. Some gourmands do smell delicious, but I don't want to smell "foody."

I get a nice sweet red berry and tart cherry opening that turns into a nice smokey rose and green tea incense thats very sexy. Occasionally a red berry will peek through again and return to a tea incense. Very pleased with this.

For all intents and purposes practically identical to the regular EdP but lacking the oomph of the liquorice. I prefer the regular LPRN, but if you simply cannot stand the strong liquorice note you can give this one a try.

It smells like cherry liqueur. Smoky, mysterious, teasing. Clubbing vibe. It's a perfect scent for femme fatale. A good companion for her big fat mascara. Boy, don't come too close or she eats you alive!

Ohh, this one is not a good blind buy. I looked at the notes in it, and all different reviews and it sounded promising. It’s not for me. The cherry scent is strong, but as time goes on...it dries down to a very chemical artificial cherry scent. Smells like flavoured cherry liqueur..definitely not for me. Have to use it with different scented body mists to make it wearable. I am more partial to vanilla, sandalwood or citrus smells tho.

I own and I love the first EDP version, this one is cloying I absolutely dislike it... I'll pass.

I tried to write a review for the latest one I tried in France 2 weeks ago. I liked it but I noticed when I went back to read what others had said I was deleted. Others really gave negative input. I am confused because what I sprayed was well blended, carried well with good sillage. In other words my praise for it was canned and others who went on about flankers mattered. I think the art work is playful and the scent lovely. In spite of a friend, a make artist and perfume salesman, telling me the line did not do well in the states I think this perfume is worth owning. Negative people need to fade off Fragrantica. A little criticism may be ok. A feeding frenzy is not.

I have a bottle that came in a box that read "Ma Premiere Robe" but the bottle looks like the normal "La Petite Robe Noire" bottle (pink/black gradient with a sketch of a black dress.) It smells wonderful, I love it. I can definitely smell licorice/anise so I'm not sure what juice I have (I did buy it at a legit Guerlain retailer, stock might be old since it's a pharmacy in a small Ohio town.) I wonder if there are batches that have a mix of boxes/bottles based on production timing/packaging that needed used up. I know that's common with some brands/scents (Rochas Femme comes to mind.)

I find it so odd that people compare the fragrance and think is a different fragrance when it is the same fragrance. They just make these different designs on the bottle as sales gimmicks, that's all.

In case anyone is wondering, this is the original LPRN and comes in the same bottle, at least mine did. But It could be found for a better price. Same exact smell and great longevity.

Smells like a tart cherry fresh flower. A bit perfumey, smells a tad mature too

A little Gloria Carchal perhaps? Looks delicé.
