L'HOMME "GÉNÉRIQUE"? I was curious to measure my own appreciation of Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal. The reviews I read so far are quite of the love-hate kind. The reviewers' scent ratings seem to be quite polarized with very high and very low marks. I never pay much attention to fragrance trolls voting for a fragrance with a very low mark. I would only rate a scent with a "zero" if it really stinks or if it contains plain water in the flask. L'Homme Idéal EdT does remind me of certain fragrances like Armani's Code Profumo, Mugler's Pure Havane, Azzaro Pour Homme Intense and SpiceBomb, but without being similar to none. I just use those perfumes on the same occasions. However, all those fragrances have higher reviewer ratings and better performance than L'Homme Idéal. Other Guerlain well-established perfumes also have higher rates. L'Instant, Habit Rouge and Heritage are Guerlain's untouchable masculine fragrance landmarks and set a target hard to achieve with other scents. L'Homme Idéal supporters claim the EdT to be very alluring, quite sexy, a nice performer and with a unique scent. Let's find out how true that statement can be. The top notes reveal a generic citrus accord and a heavier floral orange blossom that blends naturally with the fragrance DNA in the heart phase. This opening phase is a bit generic and somewhat metrosexual, but without really becoming boring. With the heart phase, the scent becomes more pungent offering sweet tonka blended with the persistent and dominant almond, that endures till it dries down. It is clearly the fragrance DNA. Other fragrances rely on almonds and tonka to mark a gourmand position. In the L'Homme Idéal case, it gives you a singular middle notes combination. The orange blossom top note already proposes an elegant sweet ambiance and participates in the sweet accord together with the tonka and almond notes. It's not a very "Guerlain" blending but the result is good. The fragrance shines unique and pleasant all through this phase. The more subtle bottom notes call for a more vulgar blend arrangement of quality cedar, leather and vetiver that team up quite well with the prevailing the heart phase sweetness, mainly due to the powerful and long-lasting almond note. L'Homme Idéal trails its own path now for a pleasant drydown, but performance will reveal itself as only slightly above average. I already tried two of its flankers with EdP concentrations. To my nose, the "Eau de Parfum" seems to have a similar performance and a kind of cloying scent, with strong tonka and faint vanilla. Stronger but not better. The fragrance is heavier but equally short-lived. I own the Intense flanker version which I judge to be better balanced, showing a bit of cardamom in the opening. It also uses a stronger vanilla note with some smoke in the drydown. Nevertheless, its performance does not shine as well. This Guerlain fragrance family promoted timid new paths to the perfume industry. it's not as revolutionary as those created by Thierry Mugler more than twenty-five years ago, but it is innovative enough for a typical conservative designer like Guerlain. I also believe this new type of blending not to be as bold as Paco Rabanne's revolutionary designs for instance. However, too much innovation does not ensure success by itself. I believe that this fragrance family will grow in supporters and users in the years to come. There will be more consensus around it. A more competitive pricing would help a lot as well. As stated before, the EdT performance is average. The longevity lasts less than 7 hours and shows a sillage of about one arm's length. The projection is quite inferior to what I am used to with Guerlain perfumes. I only applied two heavy sprays in my test to avoid the almond note from becoming cloying. My rates for L'Homme Ideal EDT: ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ - Scent Opening: 7.5 (metrosexual and almost vulgar opening, unusual in Guerlain's perfumes) - Scent Dry Down: 8.5 (the persistent tonka-almond combo blends with leather, vetiver and cedar; I quite like the effect) - Longevity: 7.0 (up to 6~7 hours with 2 good sprays) - Sillage: 7.0 (4 feet at its peak with 2 good sprays; It projects for 1.5 hours) - Versatility: 8.5 (the EDT sweetness is elegant and alluring. It has a fresh nuance that contributes to proposing a wider range of situations where you can safely wear L'Homme Idéal like a signature scent, office fragrance, leisure situations, dinners, conventions, receptions, weddings, dining out, dates, intimacy... but not really in clubbing, work out, beach or sweating activities) - Wearability: 9.0 (just forget to use it on sunny Summer days outdoor activities or cold winter nights) - Compliments: 8.5 (With an increasing number of people enjoying sweet fragrances (but not sickly sweet), I really do think that this fragrance will please a wide range of both younger and older people. And like my daughter says, "chicks dig it!") - Uniqueness: 8.5 (This fragrance has lots of cousins but not really tween brothers) - Quality: 9.5 (great almond, orange blossom, tonka and cedar notes; heavy handy bottle and good sprayer; I just complain about the average performance) - Presentation: 8.0 (nice but common) - Price: 7.0 (€46,00 for a 100ml tester on sale + taxes + shipping back in 2018. For this price I could have bought a Guerlain's Heritage EdP 100 ml flask that I prefer by far) ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Average: 8.09 / 10.00 - between 7 and 8 =above average; - between 8 and 9 = recommended; - bigger than 9 = don't miss it; My opinion: I would not like to recommend this fragrance without you testing it previously. You may be one of the many unconditional lovers or you may belong to the indifferent majority. I suggest you compare it with similar alternatives. I don't plan to buy another bottle whenever the present bottle finishes. Anyway, for the use I will give it, this flask is going to last for quite a while. I prefer either the Intense version or an imaginary "L'Homme Ideal Boisé Intense" if such a flanker would be launched in the future. Like many other people, I am not impressed by this Guerlain offer. It's an "honest" and likeable fragrance, but too expensive for its juice uniqueness. For a little more than half of its price, I can order Azzaro EDP Intense (another fragrance that arises to my mind when I wear L'Homme Ideal). Although less versatile for its inexistent freshness, I prefer the Azzaro's scent type and I get a lot better performance. For the same price, I really prefer Pure Havane for instance. Climbing up the price ladder, I also prefer Code Profumo to L'Homme Ideal EDP, and I get a way better performance. Music: Yes - "Soon", taken from the album "Tales from a Topographic Ocean"

This is also my favorite from the whole L Homme Ideal line, which is one of the designer lines that I love the most. It's character is very unique: It starts with sweet, sherbet-like citruses with slight hints of orange blossom; later this sherbet smell mixes with amaretto-vibe almonds and tonka sweetness. In the base, becomes much more masculine with the leather accord and woods. Sweet, nutty, leathery, slightly gourmand and tad a bit boozy. This is a signature scent worthy juice. I believe there is a magic about citrus notes in the sweet, colder weather scents and this one of them. The citrus sherbet opening is what sets the magic for this fragrance. Hilarously lasts longer than the EDP version, this thing is beast-mode for an EDT, lasts 8+ hours on my skin and projection is beastly. However, I believe some people may prefer the other fragrances in the line, so here are my reccommendations: If you like cherry note in the fragrances and want a vanilla-sweet perfume instead of a citrus direction, go with the EDP (I also ADORE this, but performance is weak and leans towards female-unisex rather than male) If you like fruity or tobacco scents and overall a bit closer to the niche perfumery, go with the Extreme (I also appreciate the work here, but fruity scents are not my first choice.) If you are a fan of dark, intense, smokey and spicy scents, go with the Intense (This is my second favorite in the line, but I sometimes feel the smokey-spicy aspect is too upfront.) If you like boozy perfumes go with the Parfum (my least favorite in the line, has some bandage aspects hidden in it.) Of course, they all have the signature almond in it and do not get me wrong for critisizing the others; they are all masterpieces in designer perfumery and can blow almost anything into dust from the designer genre. Initial impression: Smells closer to the edp, completely different to what l'homme ideal edt smelled like in the store. Currently getting a very short burst of citrus, followed by mainly cherry, and a little bit of almond in the dry down. I completely see how this smells similar to one million lucky, however since it is missing the nut notes its way more delicate and comforting, less nauseating and in your face. In general great scent, especially at the price point. In comparison to the edp, I think you actually get more longevity out of this for a relatively similar scent. Very classy, but I do hope that the citrus notes come out more with maceration, as I prefer the freshness over the sweet cherry. 07/23 batch. Will update if maceration does make a difference. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: Honestly have grown to love it. The quality and the general fragrance experience that you get for the price is crazy. The citrus and floral notes stick around for longer, and the almond compliments it so well. I even often wear it inside the house as it just makes me feel confident and comforted. Projection doesn't really improve, so if you really want to leave a trail you're going to want to overspray (The atomizer is very high quality and generous, so 6 sprays should be enough). Longevity wise the creamy, almost powdery almond lasts for a while without issue. Daily driver for anyone who likes to dress smart casual or above. Can be used everywhere but the gym. Intimate smell so not a compliment monster, but you'll definitely impress whoever you're trying to impress. Absolutely love it, no regrets, won't be surprised if I finish this bottle very very fast.

So, I own WAAAY too many fragrances (over 200). That means that I end up trying to rotate through them as much as possible and therefore It'll be months before I circle back to a fragrance. Guerlain - L'Homme Ideal edt was my "Gateway" into the house of Guerlain and Id purchased my bottle well over a year ago. MAN! Every time I spray this scent on it truley BLOWS MY MIND at how FREAKIN' GORGEOUS it is! I mean wWOWw! Thing is that these Guerlain's absolutely benifit from Maturation in just about every way, beit performance, nuance and over-all scent profile. Im now spraying some on after maybe 5 monthds since having last used it and I swear its become much richer, potent, longer lasting and that Almond note is now almost "creamy" and smells decadent! Along with the high quality- "Fougere like", masculine/Leaning accords? Fellas! DO NOT pass this scent up! I know that Guerlain has more hyped men's offering other than L'Homme Ideal, but this is TRULEY "Niche Level", ultra refined perfumery! Also dont be negativity swayed by the reformulations and "Bad performance" reviews bc initially when you first spray your new bottle, this scent has at the very least moderate performance, but a few months in after introducing air into the bottle you'll notice how the performance greatly improves as well as the over-all improvements. Amazing for gentleman 25 yrs old and up and damn near a 10 outta 10 in my book! I highly recommend that L'Homme Ideal edt be any guy's (or gal's) introduction into this amazing, timeless brand. Plus this edt is more affordable than most of the other men's offerings and comes in usually at between $50 and $60 for a full sized 3.4 oz bottle.. You'll thank me later!! Lol

Here's all you need to know about this fragrance. Matthew McConaughey in the film "The Gentlemen" by Guy Ritchie as a distinguished and well put together businessman in the UK dealing in the bush business hanging with Lords, Aristocrat's and people of power and distinguished elitism. If there's a fragrance that would fit that profile that he portrayed in the film, it would be this hands down. Sophisticated yet grounded. This fragrance exudes confidence and a daring attitude but, not reckless and more of a thoughtful process of thinking through the scenario to make a calculated risk. Leather and woods to give that depth of masculine presence with a citrus & aromatic flair up top that gives a vitality and reserved energy that is enveloped by the slightest green and warmth accord that makes it inviting with a smooth but, present sex appeal & mystery. Not too dark and neither to bright. Just the near perfection combination of sweet, bitter, woody and earthy composition that a well composed fragrance should deliver when one is looking for the signature scent to do it all. The edp is good and has some depth but, I feel that the sweetness that it has over the edt is geared more to a more younger or more youthful demographic. It gets too sweet on my skin. Not L'Homme Ideal edt. Everything works on harmony like a well orchestrated symphony of notes & accords that borders on being a masterpiece. For some it might be. For me it's just a shade under that line but, I won't deny that this is an incredibly well done juice. And I could definitely see myself wearing this as my exclusive signature scent. I just to get another bottle or two of the early releases....

WOW!! Just WOW!! I believe the hype now, I’ve seen a lot of talk about this fragrance and the entire Ideal line for that matter and have never been able to sample them or try them bc the Guerlain counters around me never have them on display. I finally got around to ordering this on my fragrance subscription and it was a love at first sniff. I test and sniff A LOT of fragrances, and I mean A LOT....there’s plenty of beautiful, interesting, artistic, and curious creations out there as well as boring, copycat fragrances. Not many wow me at first sniff and even ones that I really, really, really like may not even get a wow factor from me, they just get a “this is really good and fits me” kind of feeling. This however, this fragrance right here really impressed me. It’s everything you want it to be, the bitter almond opening gives an almost Orgeat or Amaretto vibe mixed with fresh citrus notes and it really invites you into stay around for the journey...as the fragrance evolves you can pickup on the slight spicy herbal notes from the rosemary, the depth of the tonka, a bit of the leather as it starts to dry down...the Vetiver and cedar blend together to create a nice masculine woody profile. That almond sticks around in the background and if you press your nose to your skin and warm up the fragrance the almond shines bright amongst the backbone of leather, Tonka, and cedarwood. It’s truly a scent profile that I adore. I’m very curious now to try other flankers from the line. This is full-bottle worthy for sure.

----Edit--- MAAAAN, When I first got L'Homme Ideal edt and left a review here, I really liked it, performance was decent and I considered this a safe "office scent". Now that Ive had it a while and it's sat in its box since 11/16, its really changed for the better! Its smells much bolder, I now actually get a cherry like accord which comes from the Almond and which I didn't get before and actually reminds me a bit of an excellent "Cheapie" Bogart Pour Homme, yet L'Homme Ideal is more citric, powdery and doesn't have that strong Lavender that the Bogart Pour Homme has. Performance has really improved and now lasts aboit 6 hours on skin and lasts till the following day on clothes. I'm honestly very impressed with Guerlain as far as their reformulations NOT COMPLETELY NEUTERING thier fragrance DNA's, especially after releasing flanker after flanker. I honestly feel that some houses just destroy their original dna's when they release flankers and perfume concentration flankers so that people purchase the newer (much more expensive) flankers instead of the originals which now "under-perform" all of the sudden, so a HUGE KUDOS to Guerlain for honoring their fans and keeping their reformulations as close to the OG's as possible and maintaining their "Niche Quality" throughout their amazing line. Anyhow, Guerlain L'homme ideal edt has gone from a lIke to a ❤️ LOVE!! Thanks to whomever took the time to read my thoughts on this timeless, SUPER FREAKIN' AWESOME fragrance! Cheers!!

LEMON, ALMOND & TONKA Menswear. Opens with a citrus-aromatic burst with a bit of body to it from orange-blossom, that deepens into the almond & tonka-bean heart. You do get a cherry vibe here in the heart - from the almond extract nuances and the dark-cherry facets of tonka-bean - but it's softened by the continuing citrus-aromatics and the woody aspects of almond & tonka, which carry on until the hand-off to leather, cedar & vetiver in the drydown. Vetiver here is multi-faceted with grassy and fruity tones that support the citrus & cherry, while the cedar supports the woody aspects of almond & tonka-bean. Alongside all of this, there is an airy, ozonic aspect coming from the combination of rosemary & leather, which tilts everything to the masculine. Overall, I get l'homme ideal that's fresh, nutty, sweet, deep and clad in leather. As a women I would wear this with some boyfriend jeans and an oversized motorcycle jacket. Contrast to Aoud Lemon Mint Mancera: These are different, but ALM is inspired by L'Homme Ideal EDT Guerlain but isn't a dupe. ALM has a more forwared oud note, but this is like L'Homme Ideal EDT done Mancera-style. Both have excellent performance, but there are subtle differences - ALM projects a little more, but L'Homme Ideal has slightly better longevity. Overall: high quality lemon, almond & tonka scent, with excellent longevity, with a soft but present projection. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Ive reviewed L'Homme Iseal edt here before, but MAAAN! Like every time I pull this one outta my collection my mind is just BLOWN at how FREAKIN' GORGEOUS this thing truley smells! That opening is just fantastic, and they way this transitions into a sweet, almondy/Tonka experince while still retaining some of the amazing opening... Its truley such a pleasure to wear. Ive only ever had one compliment from wearing L'Homme Ideal edt, but idk bc I know Im smellin' amazing! This just makes me stand up just a little bit more straight, and gives me a confident pepp in my step bc its such a "Dapper, refined" fragrance. But folks remember, these Guerlains do need just a little time to "Maturate" after spraying a bit out. I guarantee that the edges get even more smoothed out and the performance as well as the actual scent greatly improves over-all. This fragrance now lasts me a good 6 to 7 hours on skin and EASILY till the next day on clothes. Projection is also very nice. I own Habit Rouge and Vetiver edt's and they BOTH really improved within about a month. So Id try to hold off on using your Guerlains too much before they've had a chance to "Mature" a bit bc you'll wind up basically wasting it so you can get better performance out of a brand new bottle. A 9 outta 10 masterpiece of a fragran e in my book!

Bumped into an old friend of mine who ended up letting go of a 2015 batch to me. Oh goodness, its so good.. don't get me wrong, current formulation is nice too but since mine has macerated for almost 10 years, it smells even more masterfully blended. Starts off fresh with herbal citruses briefly, then the creamy almond brightens up. Then the tonka, cedar and vetiver. I don't get much leather but the vetiver is quite smoky, probably due to the bottle's age. The notes are all equally soft but takes centre stage together with creamy almond as its pedestal. Being in the tropics, most sweet scents can get cloying but this is so well rounded. The sweetness in this is just *chef's kiss* while keeping its profile classically polite yet masculine. For this reason, I prefer it over the cherry prominent EDP. L'homme OG is a great all rounder for the composed man. Rock em in the office, date night or a civilized night out. It's a compliment getter with an introverted scent bubble. Not the kind to get compliments from strangers, but rather acquiantances or people who know you on first name basis. Lasts at least 7 hours on me. Signature worthy, puts a smile everytime I sniff. Like some mentioned here, Guerlain is the best niche camoflaging as a designer.

An addictive, classy yet approachable, sweet nutty scent that can be worn by almost any age. Sure, it was influenced by trends in modern men's fragrances. But in this case those trends fit beautifully into Guerlain's vibe and we got this great scent. It smells high quality, smoother and less screechy than some other popular options in the same vein. The main stars are orange, almond, and tonka. The almond manages to last the entire duration of the scent. The rosemary in the top/heart plays the same role as the cedar/leather/vetiver mix in the base, and that's to cut the sweetness and give it a dry, masculine touch. It works. This is a rare moment where I agree that there was a reformulation, but in my opinion for the better. I could be wrong but I recall the vetiver and leather being far too strong. I picked up the original back when it was released, and to my nose, my 2024 bottle has softened the vetiver to absolute perfection. It's still there, but less heavy-handed. The scent projects moderately but doesn't fill the whole room, and it lasts all day even with the lighter vetiver. It leans masculine but any gender could easily pull it off thanks to the balance of cozy sweetness with an edge of herbal woods.

Several reviews portray this fragrance as unremarkable and that is very far from reality. There are people that see the notes listed for this perfume and expect to distinctly smell citrus, almonds, tonka beans, vetiver, etc. They fail to see that Guerlain is one of the oldest and more prestigious perfumers in the world, known for their perfectly blended fragrances, and this means that sometimes you perceive the result of the blend instead of their individual smells. There are others that expect a distinct wow factor in their perfumes, not realizing that this factor is the one that after some time gets old or dated. A combination much hyped right now, might not be much appreciated several years later. In this regard, L’Homme Ideal is a real masterpiece, as it is an atemporal fragrance that still will be relevant for many years. It is a fitting complement to a nicely well dressed gentleman. It is clearly masculine. I do not really pick any of the individual notes listed, because it is so perfectly blended, something to enjoy... it’s sweet, but not too much... it’s delicately earthy.... It’s elegant and not cloying. It is a really pleasant experience. But if you expect a wow, this is not for you.

I've had this for a few months now. I've put quite a dent in it already. This is one of most sophisticated and classy fragrances I own. I love wearing this to work mid-week when I dress up a bit and attend my weekly work meetings. I also like wearing this as an date scent. The almond is SO good in this scent. It is powdery and boozy but those aspects are somewhat muted. I'm sure its the orange and orange blossom that helps with that. This scent is not overbearing, which some powdery and boozy fragrances tend to be (which is great for evening scents, but not so much as a work scent). With all things considered it still performs and makes a presence with its profile. There is a little spice that helps make it masculine and the leather, cedar, and vetiver in the dry down helps with that too. Overall, this is such a great value. You are not going get this level of quality and blend from a niche house for the price. I know some of the other flankers get a lot of love but this one is so versatile. You can seriously wear this year round besides in the high heat of summer. I would repurchase this fragrance so I can always have this in my collection.

So the 2014 up to 2016 version is well worth it , as an investment if you love perfumes, I still have 50% of the 100 ml EDT bottle, I heard many complain about the reformulated version, I use it on special occasions, in the evening, and sometimes at the office. It is not a perfume for summer (only if the evening is a little cool outside, it is worth wearing in summer). As for the seasons, I prefer to wear it in Autumn and Winter because then it has the best performance and you get a lot of compliments, in spring if the temperatures are below 25°C it's ok worn (but its projection and intensity will decrease drastically), it smells insane and its smell warms you up if it's very cold outside. On my skin, in Winter and Autumn, I get 8+ hours and another 2 hours of skin scent (10+ hours in total approx.), Spring minus is projection and intensity will go up to 6 hours and 1 hour of skin scent (I don't use perfumes on my clothes, I want to specify). If you want to blind-buy, look for the EDT bottle from the 2014 up to 2016 version will not disappoint you! I highly recommend it only from those years period to be bought.

Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Eau de Toilette is a fragrance that feels like a subtle yet memorable experience. It fits perfectly into formal settings like office environments or professional meetings, but I personally find it best suited for evening wear. This fragrance truly shines during intimate dinners or romantic evenings, where its understated elegance is most noticeable. In terms of longevity, it performs well, though not in "beast mode." It offers a solid 6 to 7 hours of projection on the skin, maintaining a gentle yet persistent presence. Far from being an overpowering or offensive fragrance, it has a soft, refined scent profile that tends to garner compliments. Overall, L'Homme Ideal is a versatile fragrance, balancing professionalism with sensuality, and leaves a lasting impression without ever feeling overwhelming.

So, about a year ago Guerlain's L'homme Ideal edt was my first purchased from the house of (Guerlain.) I only purchased it bc I'd heard that the House of Guerlain was highly regarded and this original edt version was the least expensive from the entire house of Guerlain (Aroud $50 at the time) so I figured itd be a good, low risk introduction to the house. wWOWw! Blew my mind how exquisite this blend was! At the time I'd collected nearly 100 bottle of different fragrances and at that time NOTHING I owned smelled as refined and elegant as tbis fragrance was. This edt version is so incredibly well balanced and such a pleasure to experience! Starts of with refined, smooth citrus, slightly powdered Almond and smei sweet Tonka Bean (BEAUTIFUL!) I was instantly hooked on the house of Guerlain and just had to try their other offerings. (After fully maturating) the performance is above average for an edt and has moderate sillage. A 9 outta 10 scent and absolutely Stunningly beautiful, unisex leaning masculine scent which Id consider Unisex- Leaning masculine scent

Just got it tried it out of the box. Super beautiful masculine, elegant and sophisticated scent. I found it to be well balanced, with the perfect light amount of sweetness, starting very bright and live with the nutty almond accord being very present from the beginning till the end, and combining everything with this light woodsy/leathery delightful masculine accord that works great and makes this all combined be a truly masterpiece wroth of having and using a lot. Performance-wise it surprised me in a good way. Wore it on clothes and hair (as I don’t like very much spraying into my skin) from 9am with about 10 sprays. I kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day, the sillage and strength never diminished and even the next day i still could smell it without effort on the clothes. It’s an amazing surprise given the comments saying it performs bad... not true at all. This fragrance was love at first sniff for me. It has a very likable and inoffensive profile, yet it remains interesting and captivating. This scent gives you a gentlemanly and sophisticated aura, making it perfect for any occasion or season where a bit more class is required. What surprised me most is how fresh and light it feels. You get some citrus from the top, which settles into a smooth and slightly creamy almondy vanilla with some aromatic touches. Super smooth. Despite its refined nature, it’s not heavy at all—actually, it’s quite uplifting and easy to wear. The light and airy feel also makes it more versatile than I expected. While this isn’t a heavy projecting fragrance, it has good longevity. It’s not a room-filler, but you can clearly smell it for several hours within about two feet away. In dry-down the scent stays quite close to the skin but lasts a long time and you still get noticeable hints of it while wearing. I’m already thinking about getting the new Parfum version for those colder winter nights.

Can't believe I haven't tried this iconic line from Guerlain before because WOW!! I tested this along with the EDP and Parfum version -- ended up liking this one the most. They have different starting points but all end up in the same place (the dry down). The first 2-3 hours is definitely my favorite. It opens with a mixture of citrus and rosemary, with hints of vanilla underneath. As it fades, the heart reveals a harmonious blend of almond and tonka beans. It's soft, creamy, but also aromatic due to what's left from the opening. From there it slowly transitions into something slightly more woody and earthy. I imagine you can use this in all occasions, but I would be inclined to dress up a bit more. Feels like an elegant day-time fragrance imo. In terms of performance, arm-length projection for 2-3 hours, then became an intimate scent for another 4-5 hours. Overall this is such a good scent, especially for a designer fragrance. Elegant, classy, soft yet masculine. Iconic.

L’Homme Ideal is the perfect harmony of lemon and sweet almond. It’s a sweet, slightly citrusy fragrance that’s beautifully composed—those two notes couldn’t fit together any better. This scent profile is built to please everyone: men, women, kids... even the dog. Basically, it’s a sweet lemon-almond composition that, after a while, reminds me of the candy I used to eat as a child. The sweetness makes it easy to wear in any season, but it really shines in spring and summer. In autumn and winter, because of the lower temperatures, you’d probably want something stronger, since the sillage and longevity are moderate to rather weak. Even though it leans masculine, it’s easily wearable as a unisex fragrance. If you’re a man who doesn’t mind naturally sweet scents, you can safely blind-buy this one. The name “L’Homme Ideal,” in my opinion, doesn’t really match the fragrance at all—but that doesn’t affect my rating whatsoever.

Very beautiful and enjoyable! I bought a full bottle immediately after testing it. Having also tested Hermès H24 recently I see that this is very similar but L'Homme Ideal is better because the sweetness here smells better (H24 reminded banana a bit). I also found that it smells even better on my shirt, reminding there Amouage Opus II (but being less sweet) which is one of the best scents ever. Edit: I also like the caps of these Guerlain bottles -- they look and feel like gear or some other piece of some mechanism. And the bottle itself looks just perfect! Edit2: I noted that it has many notes listed but I can only detect almond and tonka bean (provided this is the one that makes it sweet). Vetiver, leather and cedar as base notes? In my experience, those scents smell quite different if they are notable and this scent would be possibly even more interesting if I could detect them.

I really like this EDT. It's grown on me a lot over the past few months; I wasn't sure how I felt about it initially, but now I'm reaching for it all the time. This is an interesting one because the herbaceous opening can seem a bit strange at first, but it really settles into something gorgeous as it hits the mids. Definitely unique. Great all-season versatility too — somehow it seems like "autumn in a bottle," AND "spring / summer in a bottle," all at the same time. Wonderful drydown as well. Solid performance for an EDT. On top of all that, it's very reasonably priced online. This EDT, along with L'Homme Ideal l'Intense, are my two favorites from the line – both fantastic in their respective categories, and two of my all-time favs. Guerlain always makes uniquely good stuff, and does not disappoint on quality of composition.

A smooth blend of fresh, sweet, nutty, and suede-like leather with a touch of creaminess and medicinal notes. It is a classy, effortless, addictive, and versatile fragrance for a young modern man, suitable for any occasion. It is best for ages 25-40, I think. It has a strong projection for the first 1-2 hours, but it stays on the body lingering for hours with a moderate sillage. I sometimes get a whole workday with just 3-4 sprays on clothes. I have been wearing this occasionally for 3 years. I don’t get many compliments with this fragrance, maybe 2 or 3, so it is not a mass-appealing crowd-pleaser like the cringey L'Homme Ideal commercials suggested. Anyways, I love this type of leather fragrance–elegant, smooth, soft, and not animalic or overpowering at all. I have been wearing this a lot this fall/winter.

I reviewed this a few months ago, a bit before Christmas, and I was not a fan at all, I loved the initial spray, but all I could smell as it dried down was orange spice tea and I couldn't stand it. I wanted the EDP, but got the EDT on accident, so that could have been influential on my opinion. I decided to leave it elsewhere since I wasn't going to wear it. I left it for about two months before deciding to give it another try, and I am so happy that I did. I sprayed it again and was surprised. The orange wasn't as harsh as it was the first time, I was smelling something sweet and it kind of reminded me of cinnamon. I don't know if it was the almond, but if it was, then I love almond notes because it is so good. Every single time I wear it, I find I love it more and more. Can't wait to try the EDP.

Sweet men's fragrances are not usually my thing. I tend to avoid the syrupy sweet teenagery stuff, but I love Guerlain and decided to order this one blind.... After the first spray....oh no, what have I done? This thing is just too much. I enjoy the EDP and EDC but this one is just too loud, too strong, too sweet. Its going right back on eBay tomorrow. An hour later....hmm, this has an emerging spiciness that is quite nice. Still, too sweet for me. An hour later...well, this kind of smells good. An hour later...respray, just to get the opening accord again...dang, that smells really good. An hour later....I'm at a club, getting attention from females 20 years younger than me An hour later...I'm downloading Snapchat and using words like "Lit", "Fire" and "Extra" Curse you Guerlain.

Perfect non summer, summer fragrance. I got on the Guerlain train in 2019 with a bottle of this, as I was not able to purchase the insanely hyped edp. The cherry note was allpeople talked about. They said the edt was similar. And it is. The edt is more my style. A big pop of citrus up top is what got me. I eventually got the edp and extreme. The edp with that intoxicating cherry and the extreme with that oh so smooth dark sweat plum, with just a hint of cinnamon. I will admit the ladies always go with the edp. They love that cherry shit. Me? I prefer the citrus pop of the edt. I finally pulled the trigger on my second bottle so i dont waist my perfectly aged 2018 batch and will eventually buy backups for the other 2. Those 2 have a long way to go through.

Hyper masculine, if you subscribe to gender in perfume, which I normally don't. But this has really old-school macho dad vibes. It's a great scent, but there's something that catches in my throat and makes me feel like my airways are tightening. I have no allergies that I know of, and this is the only perfume that has this effect on me. All this considered, the EDP is a much more modern, accessible (and unisex) take on the same theme, as is Intense, whereas extreme falls more into the macho category. Of the line, this is my least favourite (and the new silver bottled flanker is superfluous in my opinion). I don't get people calling this sweet, to me it's ultra-bone-dry. For an EDT, it's STRONG.

Seeing most reviews below saying that this has poor longevity and sillage makes me think that my bottle, bought Spring 2023, is from a perfect batch since I get 10+ hours. I'm new to Guerlain and this has quickly become one of my most favorites and most beautiful scents I own. Definitely more sweet than fresh/sporty/spicy. I bought the EDP right after I bought this - to my nose it's darker/warmer while the EDT is sweet/gorgeous. This is a great place to start with the line if you're into sweet. Every time I have worn this someone always says something nice to me and I'm happy to share with them what it is. A certified home-run of designer fragrance. I will ALWAYS have a bottle of this.

This is my go-to daily fragrance in Fall and Winter. The opening is a sweet, sort of fruity, and dry almond smell. I get orange blossom, almond, and fruity notes even though I know its supposed to be citrusy apparently. The almond is great in this, it reminds me of some sort of dessert cake with sliced almonds on top, its not very sweet and the almond is natural smelling. As it progresses it still retains that nutty aspect, then its slightly sweet and smooth, and slowly the leather and woody aspects come in. I typically dislike leather but in this it is smooth and not super strong. This is a 9/10 and lasts 8-10 hours on skin.

Idk why I put off getting this for so long but out of my collection of 250+ fragrances this has to be towards the top. I have the Sport flanker and the Fragrance World Extreme clone (great clone for the price btw) and those were my only reference to the line, so when I got this it felt right. I just got it from Walmart in the US (online) for about $44 so I figured I'd mention it here while it's still on sale since that was what sold me on it. The almond is elegant and creamy but the fragrance as a whole has this citrusy effervescence that really sparkles in the air. Really elegant stuff. I have the EDP on the way too now lol

I finally added it to my Guerlain L'homme collection. It is a very interesting one where Tonka gives out a cherry vibe and reminds the EDP one. I like it quite a bit. As an EDT i find it the lighter (projection wise) of the rest I have , even Platine Privee which it has matured to quite a beast interestingly ! Overall I will be wearing it quite a bit. Will I re buy once it ends (got the small bottle). Not likely as the profile for my nose is close enough to EDP and I already have an almost finished small bottle and an unopened big one for that. Guerlain hopefully will keep on giving us a lot more of this wonderful line.

I really like the scent of this cologne. It's safe, yes, but classic and polished. It's like every Middle Eastern perfume house's interpretation of a "blue" scent, except Guerlain expertly executes it without that inevitable sourness that infects all ME blue fragrances. I L'Homme Ideal is smooth, aquatic (probably because to my nose, the citrus notes aren't very pronounced but do well to lighten the scent profile), and just different enough that you won't smell like everyone else in the room who's wearing Bleu de Chanel or Acqua di Gio. A safe blind buy and would be an especially good work cologne.

How can we describe it in a simply way? If you remove the prominent (sweetened from tonka) almond note you have pretty much L'Oreal Men Expert Barber Club grooming products scent! Cedar, leather, vetyver everything is there... (Okay, Barber Club in addition has eucalyptus on top of the pyramid but this is another story) So, if you like L'Oreal Barber Club grooming products at supermarkets and want to combine with something similar but much much higher quality cologne (it's Guerlain) here it is! Happy to see that finally receives the respect that deserves, at past it had low rating (3.72).

This is a very well balanced fragrance. It smells expensive. In a similar vein to the original Dior Homme EDT, it is a jack of all trades. I believe anyone can easily wear it and it will generate compliments and discussion. A citrus opening, quickly followed by almond and woods. It is long lasting and projects politely. Although I generally go for EDPs and parfums, the original is so good - comforting and reassuring to wear, and performs well. I prefer it to its siblings. I am reviewing a 2024 formulation. Guerlain rarely disappoint but they have excelled with this one. This is lovely!

This is like the perfect picture of a male scent. Like if someone mentions men cologne, this is the scent that I imagine they're talking about. Super classy, rich, sophisticated and seasoned (in a good mature way). The performance is good too. Honestly, this is perfect for every occasion but will elevate your aura in formal setting even more. Edit: Ended up getting a full bottle because a YUGE deal on a tester bottle via a local fb group. For some weird reason this scent stands out so much to me. Like I can even smell it while wearing a mask. Absolutely delicious.

It opens with super glue notes that are gone within minutes. Settles into something truly unique and lovely. I was worried it would smell like marzipan, but it does not. All notes seem to blend seamlessly. Edit: The downside is eventually all that is left after a couple of hours is the citronellol (a bit like the Floris No.89 I tested the day before) which really does smell like insect repellent and, once you realise that, you can't smell anything else. It's so long-lasting and cheap, it's no surprise why it is featured in so many frags

2016 batch vs 2021 batch They increased the level of almond and leather but also reduced the level of citruses, vetiver and tonka bean. It now smells more dry and woody. Old batch smells like almond and cherry(citruses gives this cherry feeling) with a clean vetiver finish, new one is more like lineer almond scent. Performances are similar maybe the opening is stronger with the 2016 batch thanks to that citrus blast but overall longevity and projection are toe to toe. I actually prefer the new one because I like simple fragrances more.

This is a fantastic inoffensive sweet versatile scent. Very underrated. I prefer this over the flankers. It isn’t heavy at all. L’Homme Idéal EDT would work great possibly all year round, especially in the office but even at night. It has moderate longevity, but I’m getting very intimate projection. I recommend a minimum of 7 sprays, maybe 5 if it’s hot. This is a very very high quality fragrance. It’s niche quality for sure, just not very strong. It is a sleeper that has started to become one of my favourite fragrances.

This is the best fragrance there is. The almond is the main note that i smell and it compliments everything around it so well. This is so unique yet so unoffensive. This works in pretty much all seasons but i wouldn't wear it in the summer unless you're inside. Also this is the longest lasting edt i've ver used. It lasts about 10 hours on my skin. The projection is also perfect. People will notice it but it wont give anybody a headache. My signature fragrance, and the best fragrance i've ever smelled. 10/10

Almost nisch quality very nice opening fresh and sweet (but not much sweet) Almond is dominant with citrusy and back ground twisting cherry and rosemary little bit. Very pleasant scent for +30 age.Image of this scent on the people that man is trustable and who has soft personality and good person and has a good education. Longevity modarate and sillage nearly 1,5- 2 hours very good and strong but not bursting so you can wear in office also in a restorant for dinner.it is a good quality fregrance

This is my special occasion fragrance. Got it from my wife as a father's day gift, and absolutely died for it instantly. Smells niche, behaves niche, but priced as a designer. The shower gel + 100mL is what I got, and was absolutely worth it, and super shocking to be gifted this. I'll love to smell the flankers, but this a great signature that works all year around, but smells more dressed up in my opinion. I have Aoud Lemon Mint from Mancera, and do think they smell much alike.

Masterpiece. Beautifully blended with surprisingly good performance for an EDT. My June 2024 bottle gives around 8 hrs noticeable but moderate projection. Insanely good value too at just £48 for a 100ml bottle. You'd be hard pressed to find something as well put together as this for that kind of money..... Also, don't be put off by the leather in the note breakdown if that isn't your thing (I'm not a huge fan myself). This is a softer suede type accord which I really enjoy.

Initial impressions are that it's amazing definitely better than Extreme,Cologne and Maybe even the edp(who knows I just got it recently),This is the only fragrance so far that I can smell almost all the notes from Bitter orange to orange Blossom to the core DNA of almonds a stunner and the sweetness is very reminiscing of Armani code absolu. EDIT: I think if you removed the name than this would've had it's 15 minutes of fame on Tiktok as a "hypebeast"

I received a bottle of this as an early Christmas gift, I was hoping for the EDP, but I decided to try this one out anyway. I don't like it much. The initial spray is actually lovely, I don't remember how it smelled since it was last night, but I remember smelling it and being amazed. But after it dried down, it became a warm orange spice tea, and it stayed like that for the rest of it's life cycle. I don't hate it, but it's not my kind of thing.

seriously whats wrong with the group of fellow fragranticans who teamed up to bash this fragrance? the beautiful smoky tonka and almond duo form the core of l'homme ideal, very guerlain-ish, with a whiff of praline and dry aromatic herbs and woods and orange blossom. it lasted more than 10 hours on me and all through i was getting whiffs. its unisex, slightly gourmand and i really like it. much better than any Bleu or One million will ever be.

Incredible fragrance. The almond note reminds me of the sadly discontinued Guerlain fragrance Ideal Cool, which was a smooth minty almond fragrance perfect for summer. Ideal EDC is like the ying to its yang, a perfect winter/fall fragrance with that same almondy smoothness and deeper notes that give it the vibe of an orange flavoured dark chocolate. Since I’ve sprayed the decant I cannot stop sniffing my arm. Real addicting. Highly recommend.

This used to be my favourite perfume. Last bottle i owned, i purchased 2017 or 2018. The smell and performance where great! Now, while i still enjoy the scent, the performance is a joke! With the old bottle i took 2-3 sprays and it was projecting good for at least 3 hours. Now, even with 10 SPRAYS!! it becomes a skin scent after an hour. What a shame. Really dissapointed, since i bought the 150ml because i thought i knew what i was getting
