Mandarine Basilic Harvest

Edit 31st December 2024: Used my first bottle up last spring but was lucky enough to find a brand new one - on sale! Oh what happiness! The OG Mandarine basilic EDT is a great scent, but I dare say this is even better as an aromatherapeut in the coming January gloom! More citrusy, simpler, closer to nature. But alas, January! I'm armed! (Original review from 2023 below:) I absolutely adore this perfume! I have worn it from late summer on it's own up untill a couple of weeks ago when I started to layer it with St Barth's Vanille West Indies. I live in the northenmost Europe and we're full into the fall season and I have had to add a bit of warmth to the bright sweet citrus to adjust it to the falling temperatures. I think this is the best of the three incarnations of Mandarin Basilic, the perfect balance between fresh and sweet. If sprayed on hair and clothes the longevity can be lenghtened although the fact that this is an eau de toilette cannot be denied. The retail prices were ridiculous when the Harvest series launched, gladly they have come down since. Especially on the net. I'm not sure if you're allowed to write shop names, but I got mine from a June trip to southern Spain, from a cosmetics chain Pxxxxr, and the price was heavily, and I mean heavily discounted. Looking forward to at least a couple of days (before frost) wearing this heavenly scent with the light vanilla of St Barth's before I really have to switch into something heavier for the frostbite season before winter.

A longer lasting and more mature version of the OG Mandarin Basilic. Not far off from Mandarin Basilic Forte! More simple structure with fewer notes but somehow more intense smelling. Since I have both previous versions already don’t feel the need to add this to my collection. It would be redundant because they are too similar. But when I do finish one of my bottles, I will get this version. Seems even more long lasting and projects more than the Forte! And more expensive than the other two! Update February 2024: Apparently these three Harvest bottles are from a 2023 limited edition. I sampled Harvest again and I decided to purchase a bottle because it smells so refreshing and natural. And because the Harvest are limited edition so won’t be around for too long in case I want to get a bottle at a later time.

I picked this up at the airport in Rome on my way home this past May and it truly feels like the perfect perfume to remember my trip by. The mandarin is juicy and bright and the Basil and green tea are just zesty enough to make this more than a fruity fragrance. I love love love this scent. It’s perfect for spring as it puts a pep in my step and just smells like pure sunshine to me. And now any time I wear it I’ll be reminded of Rome. This was my favorite out of the 3 scents in the harvest collection. The longevity isn't the greatest unless you literally bathe yourself in this, but I have no problem spraying myself upwards of 20 times with this!! 🙊 This is just so juicy and addicting. If you love citrus scents you must try this.

Beautiful fragrance, especially for summer! Unfortunately it is very weak on my skin and that's the only reason why I won't be buying it. Guerlain, please make it 2-3 times stronger! :)

An amazing citrous smell! To me, it is an easy fragrance, fresh but warm, that mandarine is absolutely delicious, the dry down is perfect and it is very long lasting.

Last longer and a bit stronger than the original and the bottle is more beautiful with higher price. I spray on my clothes and it last all day. Love it ^^.

A super summer fresh citrus perfume, I got compliments for wearing this. It is a bit weak tho.

fell in love with the og edt in sephora but they didn’t have it in stock (thankfully); they referred me to a guerlain outlet in a dept store where i got to try the harvest version and i love it so much more. the salesperson let me try all three versions, as mentioned i bought this harvest version. so here’s my review of the intense and the harvest: harvest: same base notes as the og, but has a very freshly squeezed citrus note to it. it’s very summery and refreshing intense: honestly i wanted to love it. the salesperson even gave me a 8ml sample, used it all up and still don’t love it :/ it’s too sickeningly sweet for my liking and doesn’t really smell like the original or the harvest it’s just a completely different fragrance. i live in a very hot climate all year round, so i was looking for something floral and refreshing! harvest version definitely hit the spot for me. it’s a little on the expensive side for me; but i understand it’s a designer perfume and i love the quality of this fragrance. 4 hours or so feels just right for me, and the dry down is really clean! the top and base note transition is really smooth.

Opens sweet, slightly green, there's a strong orange-citrus note (The name and the notes listed would suggest Mandarin?). It gets drier as it wears with subtle hints of spice emerging from behind the sweet, fruity citrus. Gets slightly bitter (the name Harvest does seem apt as there are some dry, "grain-like" notes that do appear after a few hours) but the scent doesn't change that much. IMO very similar to the original EDT just a richer, more concentrated version. This would be good for any season really, late spring through to autumn might be favourite though. Definitely unisex, maybe a touch more feminine leaning, most guys would not typically reach for this I'm guessing? The projection is ok, the longevity (off my skin) is excellent. It's a more mature smelling fragarance and so good for anyone 30+.

I have never smelled the original but this is a very pretty citrus perfume. Sweet like a mandarine orange not a Clementine or any variety that’s just sweet but those that are maybe more tart than sweet. I definitely smell the basil and tea but more that aromatic basil touch. It was a gift and I am happy I got it because I never cared for this line and wouldn’t have bought it myself. Edit: after trying the forte I realized that this one is the juicy part of the mandarin. The forte in contrast if fizzy/zesty and the basil is greener. So the harvest is my favourite plus it last surprisingly loonger after a side by side comparison Performance is definitely moderate. It doesn’t project much unless you overspray and it doesn’t last all day on my skin but I get around 6hours

A huge blast of juicy mandarin in the opening with a mouthwatering citrus feel. Like biting into a fresh mandarin orange on a hot summer day. It doesnt have much aromatic feel and mostly just get the mandarin. But I am not complaining.

Guerlain is everything beautiful. Its a beautiful natural scent fresh out of the shower feeling.

I used to love this at 18 but it just smells so strongly of cleaning products. I would not be able to describe this as anything but green - it smells like the leaf and skin of an orange, like straight orange oil rather than a juicy freshly peeled orange. it's not very complex or interesting to me, it's quite unfortunate. It's definitely not for under 30s, it's bordering on headache inducing. I do like how fresh it is at times but more often than not it just pulls cleaning product than photo-realistic orange. It may be a good layering scent? but overall it's quite meh

The mandarin note is almost too photorealistic—sweet and sticky in a way that I don't quite like. It kinda smells like your fingers 20 minutes after peeling a mandarin: slightly sharp, sugary, and unpleasantly lingering. Honestly, rubbing a real mandarin on your skin might even provide better longevity than this does. That said, this is the first mandarin-focused perfume I’ve ever tried, and I’m definitely curious to explore the note further. If anyone has recommendations, I’d love to hear them!

Beautiful, green, clean, bright opening, and a slightly aldehydic aspect that comes out more during the drydown. This would be a nice bedtime fragrance, but I don't think I'd want to wear it out because the soapy background makes it feel a bit mature and non-perfumy.

I have a sample of this but it’s a bit sour and it has a stale, almost ironlike drydown which I really don’t appreciate.

Smell like my dad’s shampoo. I did smell the citrus but actually this one is not for women 😭

I usually enjoy citrusy perfumes, but this one really didn’t work for me. The opening was overwhelmingly acidic and sharp it actually made me feel sick. It calmed down briefly into something slightly softer, but then that sour note came back again. Sadly, it’s a no for me thinking about it again make me nauseous

Male review: Traditional French perfumery, owns modern character, smells very light, airy and eloquent. Beautiful selection of naturals to aroma-chemicals. A linear and simple smell, yet beautiful smell. Absolutely beautiful opening, clean, sweet and soapy dry-down. I think, that this is a beautiful, very versatile perfume for girls and women for warm seasons. Smells very natural. This is expertly created, brilliant work of a perfumer. I image this being built around Linalool, Ethyl-Linalool, Bergamot EO, Hedione, Ambrettolide, Muscone, Lily of the Valley raw materials, Mandarin EO, Helional and some other well selected naturals like maybe Basil EO as well. The dry-down is very very clean and light, slightly sweet and floral to my nose, of course. I imagine a young lady sipping Aperol Spritz in the city centre bar's garden during a hot and sunny afternoon, wearing a beautiful delicate linen dress, sunglasses and sun hat. Very beautiful summer perfume, that is impossible to dislike. This is simply beautiful and delicate. If you want such a concept in a different approach and created on niche level, try Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford. This is slightly more complex, extravagant and richer structure of a perfume, created probably in a different way to French perfumery. EDIT: The opening is my favorite part of the fragrance. I pick up some 'bubble-gum like' clean and sweet texture in the dry-down, typical for commercial designer perfumery.

I got a full bottle of this scent. It is as lovely, fresh and optimistic as the original AA mandarine basilic. I would say this scent has more of the fruity sweet aspects of the mandarine orange, the tea and basil notes have been turned down, they are still there, but somewhat muted. It is slightly sweeter but staying fresh and bright. It is as ethereal as the original AA MB. It doesn't last more than 3-4 hours on my skin. My favorite in this line is AAMB forte. It has the mandarine punch that I crave and lasts many hours. I will use all my bottle of harvest, but honestly, forte is the best of the line.

The harvest version are like the ripe, candied (and concentrated?) smelling version of the aqua allegoria line imo. The green mandarine and basil is more pronounced than the original or even the forte.

How does this one compare to the OG when it comes to tangy citrus feel? I missed that fresh squeezed sour aroma in the Forte version. Forte was a bit too sweet for my liking

Very realistic mandarin orange citrus fragrance. Completely unisex, no idea why the votes are skewed so feminine.

I have no respect for people who vote without actually smelling a perfume; don't you have any life at all?!
