Mon Guerlain L'Essence

I was enchanted at the idea of the creamy frangipani flower combined into the soft Mon Guerlain formula. And the marriage is a lovely one —- although, the hint of lavender keeps L’Essence from being the true Tropical I thought it might be. What you do get with MG L’Essence is a beautifully blended warm floral, reminiscent of the previous MG ‘Florale’ flanker. It differs from the mainstream enough to be elevated to a carefree, but elegant, scent. An all-season, wear anywhere-anytime classy reach. This one, I can actually imagine Angelina wearing! While it’s true I’ve never disliked a MG flanker, this one smells special. I don’t own another floral quite like it. The OG and Intense will always have a special place in my heart, but L’Essence is easy to love. Scent - 10 Silage trail - weak to medium Longevity - 3 to 4 hours (longer sprayed on clothes)

Mon Guerlain with a splash of Terracotta and tons of bergamot. This one retains the original's scent profile but it's much more tropical and heavily floral. Maybe a touch screechy if you're fussy about buttery, beachy florals (as I am!). I really don't like Terracotta, so it depends which perfumes DNA wins out on skin! Edit* (in cooler weather) on paper, the Terracotta dna is dominant but on my skin Mon Guerlain is equal to it, so hurrah! Mon Guerlain have delivered a beachy floral in a way I find wearable! I will save this for warmer weather though as it has that slight sharp and buttery floral scent that will be softer in the warmth I think. Update! Started wearing it in spring and I Loooooove it!

This is hands down the best Mon Guerlain in my humble opinion. It’s so elegant, classy and beautiful! 💛 It definitely has the original Mon Guerlain dna, but l’essence is so much more creamier from the added frangipani. The frangipani mixed with the lavender really gives it a gorgeous twist they blend seamlessly together. 🌼🪻 This smells like a really wealthy and elegant woman on vacation in Europe. It just smells like someone who has it all together lol. It’s also a very serene and calm scent. If you’re searching for a creamier Mon Guerlain that is suitable for summer then you will love this one. The performance and longevity is also really good! 10/10

I have been chasing after this scent on and off for the last 18 months until I finally had the opportunity to buy it. This flanker smells a lot like the original, but it's a little less sweet and more floral, especially within the first hour after spraying it. I'm not sure if I can actually pick out the frangipani on its own since the lavender is still strong in this one, but with it being more floral and a little less sweet, it is definitely what I call the "hot weather version" of Mon Guerlain. It's very beautiful still and it still smells comforting, even though I was expecting a more tropical scent.

I recently was able to buy a bottle and it's a love for me. I like it better than the original, which I also really love. But the frangipani note just does it for me. It has the Mon Guerlain DNA with a strong frangipani note. The frangipani gives it a beautiful creaminess. The lavender it still very there but it's toned way down on my skin compared to the og. This is stunning! Edit/ sold my bottle of the original and bought another bottle of this one.

I don't find any similarities to Florale, which is a good thing, since that flanker gave me a headache. It's as if one took the original Mon Guerlain EDP, and added ylang and plumeria. L'Essence is a beautiful, lush, tropical, warm, cozy. The plumeria note is one that is done really right here. Ylang isn't listed, but it feels very present.

So this flanker seems to be Russia exclusive sell (you can see it’s available in the Russia Sephora website) but then the war with Ukraine started right at launch of this perfume. What an unfortunate thing! I’ve been hunting it down for quite some time now without any luck

I just received 2 bottles from Fragrancenet (still available) and love it, MG dna definitely but the frangipani twist does it for me.

Mon Guerlain Florale, BUT BETTER! The Frangipani really brings it out! Love it!

Similar to the OG but a bit creamier with the frangipani. Love this!

After testing several Mon Guerlain flankers, this is my take on the line: Mon Guerlain EDP: -cozy yet easily wearable daytime fragrance -primarily herbal lavender, coumarin, licorice; ends with vanilla and very light patchouli -my fave, the blend is great at every level of the wear Mon Guerlain EDT: -sharp green bergamot top, baby-powder-like note from orris+violet, same cozy vanilla base -has a medicinal note, and lacks the coziness of the EDP -my least fave Mon Guerlain EDP Intense: -the most accurate 'intense' flanker of any scent I've tried -more lavender, more patchouli, more coumarin, more vanilla (especially in the dry down) -while frags don't have genders, I could see men preferring this version as 'bolder' and spicier ((Mon Guerlain L'Essence:)) -retains the lavender, and has a nice jasmine-sandalwood heart/base -does NOT smell like sweet frangipani (like I hoped) but instead the 'green'-smelling variety; still pretty but not what I wanted... it's a sister to Aerin's Hibiscus Palm, with a lavender twist. -the vanilla comes up in the dry down and sweetens things out in a gorgeous way Mon Guerlain Florale: -powdery, creamy, floral flanker that shares DNA with the OG -the florals are well balanced but it smells too much like vanilla baby powder for me

FINALLY got my hands on a bottle of L’Essence. It is NOT what I expected. Doesn’t smell tropical to me at all. It’s still a very likable warm floral over the Mon Guerlain base. Much less lavender but still a little there. To describe the floral element I’d say it’s giving a warm solar tuberose or jasmine vibe. Again, not what I had imagined but I do like it well enough. You must like warm solar type jasmine/tuberose florals to enjoy this. I’ll wear it come spring & summer. Longevity & projection are weak after 90 minutes. It’s potent at first with big sillage but after 90-120 minutes basically gone. I’m not mad about my blind buy but I won’t need another bottle. It’s good enough to wear this year during warmer weather (and who knows maybe it’ll grow on me). 6.5/10 PS after wearing multiple times the longevity is abyssal. Makes MG EDP seem like a powerhouse and I vastly prefer MG original & MG Intense.

this is beginning to feel like Guerlain Shalimar Millesime Vanilla Planifolia the way I’m STALKING the Guerlain site! And I’m not even a huge fan of Mon Guerlain but I like the idea of frangipani in the mix.

Mon guerlain edp is my favorite perfume, I would say my signature everyday scent. I was excited to try this version for a more summery take on mon guerlain. But I didnt find that to be the case here. I found l'essence really heavy, and hard to wear personally. It is still a good perfume, and would not mind someone else wearing it. The frangipani is very strong, and smells a little mature to me. I imagine someone in their 50s wearing this. edit to add: I got my bottle from fragrance net, so I do not know if storage conditions may have taken a part on how my bottle smelt

I truly believe this flanker is lovely! However, it has a few unusual qualities that my nose picks up which set it completely apart from the OG, which I will go over in a moment. Let me first start by saying that this edition of MG really thrives in the heat. Warm weather suits it best. The heat allows the solar, floral notes of frangipani and Jasmine to open up and bloom to give you the tropical feel that was intended. When these notes appear it does feel / smell very different from the OG. There is also a waft of sea salt that I pick up that reminds me of the smell of wet sand and the ocean. I know there are no notes indicating this, but the more I sit with it, the more it can’t be denied. The salty ocean amongst a background of sweet, creamy tropical florals is most prominent on clothing. Especially the next day. This aspect of it reminds me of the salty notes in Thierry Mugler Womanity. But instead of the salt being savory & briny like in Womanity, it’s salty & sweet... more like a cloud of salted caramel. Please don’t be put off by me mentioning this comparison. I know that many were disturbed by the savory caviar note in Womanity (not me personally), however it’s not that at all. Imagine yourself walking on the beach, driftwood washing ashore, the warm breeze carrying the sweet scent of vanilla, tropical flowers, and the salty scent of the ocean... that’s this flanker to me. The citrus and lavender disappear off the top almost immediately for me, so all I’m left with is what I mentioned above. IMO, This isn’t a heavy perfume as someone mentioned below. The sillage and combination of notes are just right for warmer weather. In cooler weather I find that it doesn’t bloom as well as it should— it basically becomes a skin scent. So if you got nothing from this perfume as I did when I first tried it in the chilly spring, wait for a much hotter day. You won’t be disappointed! 🌺

I was able to find a legit bottle of MG L'Essence online (I'm in the US) and I was so excited to purchase this!!!! So today is my first day wearing L'Essence. I should also share, that my very favorite MG has always been its Sensuelle flanker. Back to L'Essence--it is BEAUTIFUL, and it definitely has MG DNA. I don't notice the prominent lavender note in L'Essence that I do in Sensuelle. Also, my initial thought was, "Wow, this smells a lot like Jimmy Choo Illicit," which I also really love. And hours later, I still feel that MG L'Essence is similar to Illicit. Almost as if Illicit and MG combined and delivered a lovely, new, well-blended and high quality scent. I would recommend this perfume for anyone that loves MG and loves florals! And there is definitely a warm, creamy floral component that the original MG doesn't have. Though I'm not usually a huge floral perfume wearer, but there a select few that make it into my fragrance collection. I've never tried MG Florale to say whether or not this might be similar or not to that flanker. I don't necessarily think "tropical" when I wear L'Essence, but it is very feminine and pretty. I am excited to wear this in the upcoming warmer months to see how MG L'Essence performs in the heat. If I have any other impressions from this one, I'll be sure to share updates. Update: I didn't hold onto this one. It is more green/floral, and less lavender/sweet, which is what I adore with MG & especially MG Sensuelle. While this is a really beautiful scent, I would prefer another bottle of MG Sensuelle!

Unbelievably, I've actually managed to get my paws on this and am now the proud owner of a brand new 50ml bottle of Mon Guerlain L'Essence! I do enjoy a good perfume hunt! Of course it was a blind buy, seeing as it's not available in stores anywhere (at least not in the UK) and I have to say it's a little underwhelming. It's nice, and therein lies the problem... It's just "nice". Maybe wearing this in the Winter rather than the Spring is the issue, as it strikes me as much more or a Spring/Summer sort of a fragrance, especially given the note of frangipani. My favourite out of the whole MG line is the Intense version and that is still most definitely the case. What Intense has, L'Essence doesn't. Maybe I'll hang onto L'Essence until the Spring and see if that makes a difference to how I feel about it. Like I said, it's nice... Can't yet comment on the projection or lasting power, but it's fairly strong when first sprayed. Very lavender dominant and floral-heavy (almost headache-inducingly so) but settles into something softer and warmer as the base notes start to come through more.

I was told by Guerlain customer service in Paris that this fragrance was due to be released a few months ago but got delayed and he didn’t have a release date yet but he said he thought it would be with a few months. I will purchase it as soon as I see it. I love frangipani and it would be interesting. They took off the rose and licorice so it seems like is going to be the most different flanker of Mon Guerlain. I seriously cannot wait 😩

Why is this a Russian exclusive? The original article announcement for this never said that. Normally all versions are sold everywhere? Why not this one? What's the war got to do with it? Guerlain is French. France isn't on Russia's side, this makes no sense. You'd think unavailable in Russia if anything. Another other possible reasons this was announced n then came to nothing?

Ohh my poor wallet. I am already in the process of buying all the mon guerlain flankers (except for florale) , sensuelle literally just arrived today, all I thought I had left to buy was bloom of rose. Guess I have two more to buy now. Edit: well obviously didn't get this one but I was gifted florale and love it. Still need this one. Bad.

This is such a beautiful version of MG. The tropical florals with bright green tones remind me of the opening of Shalimar milliseme Jasmin on a bed of Guerlain vanilla (sdv with added lavender) I'll be hunting this down for a while. Anyone in the states wants to swap me theirs, pls. message me

This fragrance has been out for two years now and i cannot find it ANYWHERE. Not in store, not on the website, not on the internet, NOWHERE. What is going on? Does anyone know? I am from Belgium by the way.

This was available at Sephora.com in Russia but is currently out of stock. Not sure if this is an exclusive only to them, the details I’ve found so far are vague.
