Nerolia Vetiver

I got a sample of this from a travelling sample box (EU) which is a very cool idea and is administered here in Fragrantica in one of the forum threads (under Perfume Splits and Member Giveaways). This was my nr. 1 finding among nearly 200 samples. I had searched for a green scent and didn't even know what to look for. I had experiences with something extremely green before, like Demeter's To Yo Ran Orchid and Dandelion which basically smell like cut flowers and cut grass (harsh green!), besides they were oil-based, leaving marks on clothes. Having smelt the sample of this was like a revelation: this is the one I want! I bought a full bottle immediately and wasn't disappointed at all! Even though it has the same soapy ingredient -- whatever it is, like in Pierre Balmain's Vent Vert, that I don't enjoy that much -- I still like it a lot. I probably understand why this reminds many others some cleaning product: because of the soap smell here. But I personally haven't used any such in the past and I don't have such associations, I only generally recognise the soap that everybody knows. Recently I went to a department store and smelt the other scents of the same Aqua Allegoria line. There weren't all of them but about 6-7. I realised that Nerolia Vetiver is very different from the rest, there's nothing sweet-smelling in this one. I don't really know what is a niche scent but maybe this is one, even if the producer is not considered one. It is exactly for me, a green scent that is worth being named green and having a light green colour. Also, this scent was a revelation to me in the sense I realised by smelling a sample of another vetiver scent (which I ordered among other samples just because this scent had vetiver mentioned in the name and is very good) that vetiver is the ingredient I like most, at least in a certain category of scents to me. I had tried one neroli scent but it wasn't that impressive, maybe I have to try more to understand what that is. Now I know where to head on to find other excellent scents among so many of them: they have to contain vetiver! Edit: It stays quite long on the clothes (all through the day) which is a good property for me because I use perfumes on shirts, not on skin.

Beautiful aroma! Well this deserves much higher rating! I'm amazed of some of the bad descriptions below. Toilet cleaner? Artificial lemony soap? Old lady.... Jesus! Probably because you like completely different scents and don't understand Neroli nor vetiver. If you can't see the soft sophisticated beauty in this scent and call it artificial, I think you should stay far away from Neroli. The Neroli here is creamy, discreet and well blended with the other notes, I can smell the fig which give a touch of sweetness and traces of basil/vetiver. The vetiver is clean and barely noticeable and this is why many people would like this much more than other vetiver scents. I''m actually surprised that the named it Nerolia Vetiver... I would have chosen to name it perhaps Nerolia Fig instead. Like someone else said, I also get the feeling of orange-blossom in this composition, because of the fruity creaminess it has compared to dry bitter Neroli heavy scents. And yes, in the drydown I can also see a touch of luxurious sunscrren. BUT, the scent is kind of week and on me it became a skin scent within 30 minutes at first test, maybe I got a bit noseblind due to sticking my nose to close too fast... I totally agree with some reviewers below: -Unisex. Maybe slightly feminine leaning. Great for summer days. Fresh and uplifting. You get Neroli then juicy fig and clean and soapy vetiver. Maybe Basil in the background. -Wow, this is such an elegant summer fragrance! I perceive neroli, and even some orange blossom, to be the most prominent notes. BTW I like this soo much better than Herba fresca which to me is really feminin, and the herbs and toothpaste feeling was a bit to much really. I swaped to this and I'm lucky that i discovered a new summer favorite. I will say, that I'm a big fan of Ferrari Bright Neroli also, that's why I like this I guess. This is weeker but more sophisticated and cleaner than Bright Neroli. Summary: You must appreciate neroli/ orangeblossom/fig to like this one :)

NEROLI CREAM. Not what I was expecting, but this is gorgeous. I just have a tester spray, but I get the neroli & vetiver, but the fig note is actually more of a buttercream monoi oil that smells like tiare on the skin and gives it a beachy facet that altogether could read as vintage white-floral for some. In the air I get the neroli more, but softer and sweeter than usual, along with a fruity aspect from the vetiver. If you're looking for that punchy, sharp citrus cleaness like Neroli Portofino Tom Ford, this isn't the same thing, it's something different. But if you spray Neroli Portofino Tom Ford and Jardins de Bagatelle Guerlain side by side you would be in the ballpark for the first hour-and-a-half, although this is well blended. The neroli doesn't last too long in that sharply clean way but fades into a creamier ghostly pale-green version of itself, while the vetiver and buttercream keep it alive for several hours. A few hours in, I get a soft pale-green & faintly citrus scent that reads like a green-tea scent to my nose and more similar to Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria Guerlain. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Somehow I thought it is going to be somewhere like Limone Verde with its fig and neroli notes but is completely something different and more closer to Herba Fresca with its dry fresh nonsweet aroma. What I get is a blast of neroli which I'm crazy for, and vetiver which I'm learning to love with the help of this frag. No sweetness, no prettiness, it's kind of hard core fresh dry grassy neroli vetiver. The dry down is gentle fresh vetiver that is a bit manly, but i think it is because I associate vetiver with manly frags. Somewhere in the middle I can catch of something fruity and figgy that hides in the structure but, this release is focused on neroli and vetiver just as it says on the bottle. Overall it is not trying to be likable, it is old classic vibes with modern construction, dry fresh airy soapy that sings a beautiful vetiver aura in the drydown, and it last quite some time. Not a drop of mainstream here, just a fabulous creation for those who love it. Update: after wearing it a while I learned to recognize the fig note, the dry down is vetiver with semisweet fig. Gorgeous drydown..

I've been sampling this, and I can say Nerolia Vetiver has gone into the top of my list of amongst my favourite Aqua Allegorias. Just as its name implies, on myself Nerolia Vetiver is a superb blend of neroli and vetiver. The floral aspect is beautiful and most prevailing during the first hour, with some woody background. As time progresses, the composition slowly transforms towards the impression of bitter leaves and stems done in a wonderful way. The aroma is tender but present. Even though it's not mentioned in the composition, there is something soft like a delicate powdery feel, very Guerlain style. It exudes elegance and grace. It reminds me of Bvlgari Eau Thé Vert, but with way better performance. Nerolia Vetiver lasts at least 6 hours on me (which is great for an Aqua Allegoria), while Eau Thé Vert sadly only about 10 minutes. At some stages it also reminds me of Dior Pure Poison, though I greatly prefer Nerolia Vetiver. Pure Poison ends up with an ugly synthetic drydown on myself, while Nerolia Vetiver stays beautiful throughout its transformations throughout the hours.

I love it. But I'm not difficult, I love neroli and vetiver in general. And even that little bit of green fig leaf I smell is adorable. Men should love this too. But, it's June and over 30*C and I oversprayed it because it's what you do with Allegoria stuff...it was gone in 15 minutes. Not even the original 4711 does that. I did wore it before, in early spring, end of winter and I got 3-4 h without problem. I will try the Forte version, but I'm not a bit fan of tonka in summer, it's too heavy. And I'm pissed at new prices, Aqua Allegorias are eau de colognes at their best, except maybe Mandarine Basilic. They decided to make even more money. Well, it works for Tom Ford, everyday freshies are so ridiculously overpriced that only fragrance snobs and crazy enthousiasts buy them over and over. Frashies work great in heath, you spray or dab or whatever every few hours. That's the point of eau de colognes! That's what they were made for! And that's why they are reasonably priced! Or they should be!

Wow, this is such an elegant summer fragrance! I perceive neroli, and even some orange blossom, to be the most prominent notes, followed by vetiver. Fig and basil stay in the background and add to the allure. I definitely see the resemblance to 4711 Original Eau de Cologne, but Nerolia Vetiver is a bit sweeter and less citrusy sharp. When I smelled this fragrance for the first time, I was immediately transported back to the Amalfi coast and Ischia at sunset time. I think this is a must-try for lovers of cologne scents! So, it is a few days later and I have just visited a Guerlain counter where the sales associate sprayed Nerolia Vetiver together with Epices Exquises to demonstrate that Epices Exquises could also be suitable for a summer evening.... and I must say that this combination is really beautiful! It transforms Nerolia Vetiver into a woodier composition while bringing the fig note to the forefront.

Couldn’t love it more. It gets a lot of hate but then why is it always sold out ? Hmmm. I tried all the aquas and truly like each I think they are simple and elegant and very reasonable priced. I loved this though I can smell each note yes but they blend into this seamless concoction that gives expensive green frangranced sunscreen. No tropical banna boat vibes here (which hey they have their place! ). It reminds me of a soap at hotel cote de cap. Incredibly and distinctly European maybe even Mediterranean bc of the basil and fig. Definitely a summer frag. But honestly this could work nicely with fresh snow, a clean white juxtaposition. Doesn’t last an eternity but impressive for an EDT. If the EDP has lasting power thinking of making this my half year signature.

I received a sample of this EDT version and I was blown away when I tried it on my skin. Admittedly it is a very clean smelling fragrance which may not be particular to many, but I was surprised at how it shifted on my skin. I went to a local store to try the Harvest version (smelled very sweet like honey) and the Forte (turned bitter on me) but I tried this again and I just reconfirmed that I needed it. For me it is the perfect morning/day scent for work or day to day, to spritz on after the shower and use it to refresh throughout the day. On my skin it smells clean and fresh, but also bright. The vetiver is well balanced in my opinion, making it not too masculine. All in all I really love this one and am happy I added it to my collection.

I won this from Fragrantica, so a huge thank you to them! It's perfect for me and I've already gotten compliments on it. It's definitely become one of my new favorites. I lean towards freshies...love EA Green Tea, TF Neroli Portofino, and 4711. The neroli has an orange blossom sweetness to it, probably enhanced by the fig, while still staying bright and clean, not cloying. I'm not getting any bitterness or, as someone mentioned, smokiness (and I don't love smokiness, so I'm glad!) It smells like scents you'd actually experience in nature somewhere unspoiled.

Voted this unisex down the middle, although the far dry down leans a little feminine. Wow what a fragrance, can't believe the rating. This is my 4th from the line and I love them all, but nerolia vetiver might be my favorite. It's a soft neroli forward fragrance with semi neutral vetiver with some green and light wood accents. Very smooth, very light (NOT a skin scent, it will envelop you, but wont blast the room), airy and clean. I blind bought this because the other 3 I own are fantastic and I couldn't be happier.

@Mathaya - are you sure you didn't get a fake? 😳 Especially for that price! Anyway, this is straightforward neroli for me, so I love it. I thankfully don't get any basil at all, no fig - great, not even any vetiver, which I find can smell a bit flat/hayish/pissy. Just straight up neroli, yum yum. Edit: Darn, the more I wear this, the less I smell the neroli and now the vetiver is coming out, and maybe a hint of fig. Still smooth, still nice. I'll see over time how I feel about getting the big bottle I wanted ..

Really stands out among all the neroli dominated perfumes on the market! Opens with a lovely sweet neroli!!! It stands out with the earthy vetiver and juicy mouthwatering fig joined in!!! So good I usually hate fig in EVERY perfume~ but Guerlain’s fig accord is the one that I can really appreciate it! The dry down is where the magic starts really like the earthy vetiver it balances with the sweet neroli and stopped the neroli to be so cloying which it often makes me headache with neroli dominated perfume

Beautifully simple and transparent white floral. The opening of this fragrance is a sharp and bright neroli with green basil dancing around it. As it warms up the sweetness of the fig and the dirty, earthy, slightly spicy vetiver come through and marry with the neroli and basil to make a beautifully light and refreshing yet grounded scent. Something about this takes me right to summer days. I can't wait for the spring and summer to enjoy this is the sun and heat.

I think this is one of the best, if not the best, in the Acqua Allegoria line. The blend is very good, you can smell Neroli, Fig and Vetiver separately but you also feel the blend that takes you to other sensations, it is clean, ethereal, papery, sometimes green in a different way. There is something intriguing and it definitely has the quality and naturalness of Guerlain. It is a cologne style perfume, but it goes in a new, different direction.

Geurlain has a shop in Disneyland and if you purchase a bottle while their artist is in, they'll paint it for you free of charge. Mine has fireflies and magnolias all over the front of it. This will forever remind me of New Orleans Square and Pirates of the Caribbean water. It's sharp, a bit soapy, and aromatic but it dries down into something creamier, almost like a white floral. I smell fig leaves and basil and sunshine.

I have been searching for this scent for a long time! It is a reminder of younger days but without smelling juvenile. This is summer in a bottle for me! Fresh, floral but soft- not harsh or loud. It’s classy yet casual. I get a bit of a gardenia vibe from the combination of notes. I imagine wearing this with a sundress in the hot weather! Definitely one to add to my buy list!

A lovely mix of sweet, tart, and succulent green. After about 30 minutes, the fig comes out (on me, at least). It's powdery, fruity, tangy, and elegantly-blended, and it also doesn't take itself too seriously. This is what I would wear with a Lilly Pulitzer frock on a late spring day in Palm Beach.

I love this fresh green floral that is not sweet or cloying. I really enjoy the sharpness of the top neroli note, and find that it lasts a surprisingly long time for a this type of scent, or any Aqua Allegoria I've tried. Every time I wear it I ask myself why I don't wear it more often!

Such a beautiful woodsy smell with citrus. I hate neroli but this was sent in a sample. It doesn’t last long on the skin- but when I put it on it smelled like I was on a Rocky Mountain, at dawns first light, the first scent of morning dew drinking fresh squeezed orange juice. Heaven.

This opening of this is actually VERY close to the legendary Mugler Cologne, more than anything else i smelled and I have looked around a lot for this. But, it is not a replica, it dries more feminine but well worth a look if you seek a high class expensive smelling alternative.

In cold weather, it's a grandma hand cream, but, in summer it comes alive with a blast of neroli that dries down to a gorgeous vetiver that lingers with some fig support that infuses fruit qualities to a very dry scent. This scent needs warm weather.

Thry keep passing samples of this to me and boy, I love it. Such transparent and airy, green lush herbal and not too sweet. If this fragrance had a color it would be airy green. It is on my wishlist. I think I will buy it this year.

The dry down gives a veeeery crisp woody vetiver off skin, almost no neroli or fig , but smelling skin up close in the dry down you still get the neroli and fig. Not many fragrances smell different up close and away in the dry down.

Wow! I'm excited! Aqua Allegoria unisex are one of the best and I'm a huge Nerolia Bianca fan. Can't Wait! ...and fig note when I adore Limone Verde.. I'm dancing!

Clean fresh Neroli perfume with amazing longevity and projection!! It's not sweet at all so I will layer this with a sweet perfume like L'empatrice! 😍😍😍

Certainly one of the better recent Aqua Allegorias in my opinion. Nerolia Vetiver is just different from most of the other recent releases (no citrus, no obvious fruit, no "solar" nor "aquatic" notes thank God) and to me seems like an overdue return to the heart of what the Aqua Allegoria range is supposed to smell like: nature. This is a slightly paradoxical scent because to me it is vegetal, floral and the key adjective I would use is "balm-like". It smells cooling and soothing but is not acidic or fresh like a citrus, rather more like plant sap or dew. It's not particularly feminine or overtly floral, but the neroli and vetiver blend to create this soothing, serene scent which reminds me of smooth pebbles in a gently running stream. It's calming, it's unisex, it's natural-smelling and it has surprising character for such a brief notes list. I can't smell any fig at all and the basil is hiding if it is there, but I think these notes just contribute to the greener half of the scent, with the neroli filling in the space with its white, cloud-like uplift. This is not miles away from most other colognes/ green scents I can think of but this is actually far better than most of them (in my honest opinion). Longevity, like most AAs, is not considerable but you will get strong projection for an hour and then a soft aura for another three or four hours. If you're someone who likes Aqua Allegorias in general you will enjoy this, and I'm glad to see Guerlain slow down a little and make something really very lovely.

It's a hot day here in Northern California, mid 90s F, bright yellow-white sun, and warm breezes. Nerolia Vetiver is an excellent companion today. It occurred to me that I couldn't really come up with off the top of my head any other perfumes that put neroli and vetiver front and center, and a quick Google search revealed why that was since the search results of (good) neroli + vetiver perfumes is very short. Guerlain and Delphine Jelk show with this AA presentation that the two are - or can be - very natural bedfellows. Accented very pleasantly and lightly with the rich herbal licorice note of basil, the green and salty aromatics of the vetiver and the citrusy white floral of neroli create a light-weight but full-bodied feel that is very refreshing and energetic. Translucent and effervescent, it's so easy to wear. This perfume isn't deceptively simple, it's just simple. But therein lies its strength: by using very good materials and a deft blending hand, Delphine Jelk has no need for tricks or complexity to help this perfume along. The only issue is that its longevity could and should be longer, but, no matter, that just means I get to spray it again for one more beautiful hit to put a big dumb grin on my face. Great stuff.

Kind of challenging for me, tbh. Trying out several neroli-oriented fragrances after TF NP piqued my interest, and I think this one is definitely the earthiest of them. It is most definitely a different take on neroli to what you'll find in other perfumes. On opening, this is super fresh and bright. A crisp neroli burst, and a green-ier aromatic smell accompanying it. It smells like rain-soaked grassland and forest. Smelling balm-like and creamy, it steers away from the typical airy quality that neroli commonly has. I loved it on first spray. My issues with this fragrance really start at the dry down, where I feel like that aforementioned freshness is lost in favor of a very dry vetiver smell. It begins to lean more mature and vintage. The creaminess remains in tact, but the vetiver absorbs a lot of what I love about the opening. Nice, but not sure if this one is for me.

This is one of my favorite of the Aqua Allegorias. It smells very expensive and although I see no similarities, it’s far better than Tom Ford Neroili Portofino, which is mentioned several times below. The vetiver is more prominent than the Neroli and is a bit powdery and earthy, imparting some masculinity that is characteristic of vetiver scents in general and sometimes makes them harder for me to wear, but this vetiver is light and sheer and apparently aided by some fresh basil and fig, which I’ve never detected. It’s such a lovely fragrance for summer. I’ve been thinking about getting a bottle since it came out and can’t see myself passing up another season without it. On longevity this is a Cologne and meant to be sprayed and refreshed, although I do think they’re all overpriced at retail this now seems to be available on discount sites at a very affordable price.

I have this and each time I wear it I question if I like it, but then get addicted to sniffing it throughout the day. It smells clean, strongly of citrus, though it is a bit “dry” of a smell (possibly the vetiver), with some inoffensive (quite pretty actually) florals and slight sweetness rounding things off. There is something bitter (if you could smell bitter!) in the opening. Maybe that’s why I always question whether I like it or not. Anyway, this isn’t a perfume I choose to wear often, but I’m glad to have it, because it is very enjoyable in the summer. It smells very realistic, not fake or cloying. I also own 2 other Aqua Allegoria and I get the best performance and silage out of this one, about 5 hours on skin, 8 on clothing. I consider that very good for such a light, fresh, citrusy eau de toilette. Perfectly enjoyable, perfectly unisex.

Very fresh, airy-transparent, green neroli/muguet scent. The greeness is quite pleasant, and not grassy at all. It almost comes across as faint ivy leaves. This is one of those frags you could spray 8 sprays and it still wouldn't choke out a room. Very light and opaque smelling. It's very "springtime" feeling. I don't get much vetiver in this. It is slightly woody under it all, but it's a clean vetiver and not the earthy kind...but it's faint. I also don't pick up any fig. It literally smells like you spilled neroli oil on yourself, .....but in the best possible way. There is a distinct "muguet/lilly valley" tone to this along side the neroli, which also brings a white floral with greeness to this fragrance. Once the neroli/muguet dies off, your basically left with a clean cotton like musk with a slight woody undertone.

The opening is too sharp that it reminds me of a laundry detergent, but as it settles down, the shaprness goes away and i get to sense the fresh, bright, orangey, soft, floral qualities of the neroli, which is the main event of this scent. It also has a tiny hint of a green, herbaceous tone below it, which is probably courtesy of the basil. The fig note is also there underneath giving it a bit of creaminess, which made me realize that neroli and fig could make a really interesting and delicious combination. I unfortunately haven't smelled vetiver in isolation, hence I can't comment on its contribution. Overall, this is a really pleasant, likable and easy to wear scent that one can wear on a daily basis. It's my approachable clean girl fragrance, lol...i really like it though.

Very true to the nature, it smells exactly like orange blossom flower and the green stem. Not perfumery, not sweet, not artificial. It is the most natural fragrance I have ever smelled. I wonder if it is really man-made. Maybe Guerlain mixed orange flower oil with alcohol to compose this fragrance. Actually possible because orange trees are abundant in many parts of the world so is its flowers. Very nice smell. I tested twice; on the first I found it leaning feminen, but on the second I could not decide whether it is feminen or masculine. I think this is not unisex, but actually genderless smell, just like flowers are neither female, nor male. I hope to buy a small bottle as soon as I afford. Test it, recommended. It is natural and lovely.

This scent makes me happyyy. It's happy, carefree summer morning happy. Summer but not solar. It's Mediterranean and refreshing, brings me straight back to those warm days in the countryside of the French Riviera. Hot sun, bright early morning, air still cool, but not for long... It's a grassy neroli, rounded out with a sweet, warm basil. Not synthetic. Very, very natural. The drydown's less of a stunner. To my chagrin the floral neroli takes backstage, leaving a more unisex, watery/watered-down green basil burnished with vetiverian spiciness. Remains refreshing and warm-weathered, but doesn't "sparkle" anymore. 3+ hours in: faintest wilted basil barbershop skin scent (p.s. I didn't really catch the fig but that could just be me)

I was at the Breakers in Palm Beach a couple months ago and stopped in the Guerlain boutique and sampled a few fragrances, this being one of them. Received a sample and have worn it a few times. I love Neroli and I also love vetiver so it’s not really a surprise I like this but really it’s nostalgic for me because it reminds me of an elevated version of Design, a perfume my aunt wore in the 80s and 90s. I hadn’t smelled it in years but this took me back instantly. I haven’t checked the notes but I know it’s not the neroli bc I wear a lot of neroli heavy fragrances and it’s never invoked this memory. From this line, I also liked Mandarine Basilic and from L’Art- Herbes Troublantes.

It's somewhat hard to find obvious neroli fragrances, which is one of my favorite components of a scent. The combination with vetiver is even better! Came across this in a México City airport, took a sniff, and knew it was mine. I do think for the bottle it feels a little pricey ($115 USD in duty free) but it's a strong scent that applies to various daytime and warm weather occasions. The neroli is so pronounced and I applaud the makers because it's a pretty basic scent as it's name suggests, but it hits the spot and doesn't feel overpowered with notes or other fluff. Don't use it all the time exactly, but this is a daytime rotation perfume for sure.

This is the second Allegoria that gets my attention; first one is Nettare di Sole (which I wore on a city trip to Valecia; perfect match!). On the way back, at the airport, I came across the one. At first sniff, I got an instant flasback... this reminds me so much of Trussardi Skin that I used to have years ago... Never before came across a "dupe" until now. It's not quite identical but definitely close! Smells green/yellow to me, much like the Trussardi bottle! I definitely like it a lot, hope to buy a full size one day. I would prefer this perfume for summer though. It's happy and uplifting.

The scent is fresh and invigorating but somehow there's a faint sweetness I can't get enough of. At first it is a bit sharp, and turns sweeter over time and I can smell more and more of the figs. If you spray too much the sharpness can be overwhelming like a cleaning product as some have said, but when sprayed in moderation it almost smells ~expensive~ and ~high class~. Makes me feel like a model, like a woman in dark shades, dressed in a sleek, unisex designer suit. I don't wear perfume heavily as I have a sensitive nose so this is just right for me.

very green, soapy, and fresh scent. in the opening it smells very much like perfume, maybe even leaning toward hairspray territory. perhaps it would be nice for a sunny spring day, but right now I am sick and hibernating, thus it is unpleasant. as it develops it gets a bit sweeter, revealing what I think is the fig note, but it could also read as peach. at this stage it smells similar to Hugo Boss the scent for her and becomes quite pleasant

The neroli and vetiver are very nice in this one. Smells fresh, a bit bitter and balsamic. Reminds me a little bit of cleaning products or wet wipes, but not in a bad way. As the hours pass, it gets more pleasant. Suits spring weather and mood perfectly. The only thing that bothers me in this is the powdery note. Luckily, if you smell it from afar it is not that noticeable. Just don't put your nose too close to where you sprayed it.

Just like any other guerlain perfume , this one is elegantly sophisticated and layered , this is one of the perfume that change dramatically after drying , it’s texture is like a cotton and dare I say a little creamy as well , the fig is barely but it’s not so bad , what really disappointed me is the performance , it lasts about 1.5 hours on skin which is an inexcusable crime , a solid 6.8/10

The reviewer wst below nailed it. I can just add that it is surprisingly long-lasting for an Aqua Allegoria. Projection is rather mild but fits this type of scent. Well done, Guerlain! It is just regretable that the Aqua Allegorias get quickly discontinued (I would like to have Passiflora and Teazzura back!). So if you really like one stock up, it might not be available anymore next year.
