‘Metal - Kohl - Makeup’ Not just a traditional kohl kajal (eyeliner) but its whole factory/manufacturing site. Very realistic earthy rock dust, burnt black coal, grind stibnite/galena; however, this is EXTREMELY feminine to me due to the sweetness and that kohl makeup quality of it. The particular pinkish sweetness part gives an illustration of stewed rhubarb to me. I’m not familiar with aldehyde and believe that this isn’t a typical aldehyde frag. This aldehyde mainly creates and bridges organic dry metallic-ey accord and a borderline soapy-makeup-ey since it’s extensively used to manufacture cosmetics. The semi-animalic oud gives that grainy darkness to the scent, mixed with (too much of) raw, bitter, a bit medicinal leather in the drydown, which is incredibly long-lasting and ME oriented. Fantastic creation to mimic a strange tangible substance like that. Also, kudos to Thierry Wasser & another great perfumer with this super power - Prin Lomros. There's also Khôl de Bahreïn that I love as a scent, and that the nose tried to achieve the similar kohl theme with a different interpretation but didn't really get there. I feel challenged to wear this. Actually don’t find this to be vintage at all. Just something quite stylishly quirky and magically realistic (and mysterious).

The initial opening is a deep woody note with an undertone of clean and freshness coming from the Aldehydes and Neroli. 15 Min - The fresh and cleaness is settling and the fragrance has become a dominant Woody Oud and Leather scent that is deep and quite intense. 30 Min - The intensity of the Oud and Leather continue to settle and have become a classy scent with light undertones of a clean and fresh notes. 60 Min - The Oud and Leather contunue to settle making the fragrance more wearable, but I am also getting some earthiness that is also providing some balance to the scent profile. Dry Down: The dry down of this fragrance is simply Amazing!! It is a settled woody Oud and Leather scent with with earthy undertones but with a fresh and clean overtone. Very complex and in typical Guerlain very elegant and sophisticated. Performance: Projection of this fragrance is Good with the frangrance creating a scent bubble of about 2.5 feet for almost 3 hours. The sillage is also Good with a scent trail of over 3+ feet for over 2+ hours. Longevity is Great with the fragrance lasting on my skin about 8 to 9 hours, but becoming a skin scent at about 4 hours. My rating for this fragrance is a 8.5 out of 10.

This is actual niche perfumery. It’s not for everyone. And that’s ok. It’s not just a mass appealing scent in a private line with upscale presentation and pricing (even though it is in upscale presentation and pricing). leatherorrisviolet in their review below has nailed what a lot of people have missed. This is a leather Chypre fragrance. Not Oud not anything else. It harks back to vintage scents that the house is famous for. People vomiting over this scent haven’t experienced scents like this before. Oud here starts off funky, but quickly settles down. It adds something to the composition but it’s not dominant. It also has a photorealistic kohl note. Dusty, black, mineral. But what you really have is a soapy aldehydes and leather and oak moss, praline adds only a touch of sweetness. It’s daring, it’s bold and it’s not for everyone or everyday wear. It’s a perfect statement maker in cooler weather for formal or dressed up occasions. People might not like your scent, but they will respect it. Unisex but it takes a certain type of person to pull it off.

Exquisite, expensive and extremely animalic with a kind of sour cheese twist; way too rich and animalic to wear. I can't imagine who would wear this, perhaps some sort of ancient, eminent game of thrones character would smell like this. In fact, the cheesey opening puts me right off, but it does calm down quickly, I just can't imagine purchasing a bottle for the near-on 300 euros it would cost, especially when Guerlain itself offers such an array of affordable, wonderful perfumes. This is for wealthy collectors, probably never to be worn, and hey, why not! Update: I now own this, and I love it. Shameful as it is to say, I've discovered (by accident) that layered with L'Interdit EDP it's a treat! (I know, I know).

When I first smelled this, it was in a Guerlain boutique after having smelled about a dozen other fragrances. I wasn’t as pointed at that point to pick up the nuances of the notes, but I knew it was special and made the purchase. I’m so glad I did. This is probably the most exquisite and wearable oud I’ve ever experienced. Not for the faint of heart, but truly beautiful and poetic in its dark mysteriousness. Smokey, incense, santal, oakmoss, patchouli- just gorgeous and utterly compelling. I think most would say this leans masculine, but I don’t care. I made it my own and I’m in love. Excellent projection and longevity. I think it’s a masterpiece.

I think it's time we stop this nonsense of what's feminine and what's masculine.. perfume will smell differently on each one of us because of our own chemistry. Plus anything can be sexy on you if you rock it with confidence! This scent is ADDICTIVE, unusual, incredibly smoky I mean as if you've spent the evening around a campfire and your hair soaked in all the smoke but.. in such an elegant, smooth way that makes it smell so damn sexual! I'm in love with it however, it's not a fragrance that I could wear every day, it takes a special mood. I wish I could find a more affordable perfume with similar vibes, any suggestions are more then welcome 🙏🏽

Tremendously masculine and timeless, almost vintage smelling - but not. The initial impression is wild. Almost like a tremendously high end Dunhill 1930. But, the drydown is addicting. Terribly beautiful. The praline creeps in more and more as time goes by. At 12 hours, the oud and praline mix with a bag of lump charcoal and create a unique experience. A unique high end experience. People say you can't wear this. I've worn it several times and enjoyed it more every time. This is courageous niche perfumery. Some won't like it, some will smell and be in awe. I love this stuff. A brilliant Western interpretation of the Oud note by master perfumer Thierry Wasser, this minimalist modern chypre uses aldehyde enhancers to open a scent that smells like actual kohl. The scent has some leathery notes, carbon resin and caramel in the middle and settles on a powdery moss and Oud bed. The unisex semisynthetic scent has strong projection and very good longevity. Not for everyone, but adventurous perfume lovers will marvel at this modern masterwork that is a minimalist abstract reinterpretation of an ancient woody note. Exceptional. Enjoy!

This fragrance makes me feel super clan and yet dirty the same time. It kinda very strong smoky, sweet soapy very intoxicating. I can't stop sniffing my arm. I agree that it does smell like Dove bar soaps. So far It's one of the best fragrance in my collection. Edit 6/4/24 I heard this fragrance is discontinued! I’m glad I bought a full size 200 ml. For me it’s a masterpiece. Perfect for the winter when it’s cold and freezing outside. Best temperature to wear is 55 F Or below. I sometimes layer this with Neroli Vetiver or any rose scent for fun.

Someone is wondering how a woman could wear this? Guess what -Easy! I bought it while strolling in Paris after my concert and love it ! To me, it's intensely passionate, unique, and extremely feminine. It brings you to another world, perhaps a Medina or a Souk, perhaps Kyiv with its marvelous cuisine, landscapes, and style. It is way more sophisticated than any other perfume of Guerlain and I do own almost all of them. Ciao!

What an avant-garde, fresh pleasant surprise from Guerlain! It smells like eyeliner makeup, mixed with that deep Tuscan Leather suede drydown, has a pinch of praline sweetness...i will say that this stuff is superb, the best Guerlain release of 2020s by far. This is boss level stuff, while being super classy, sophisticated and stylish. The color of the juice is perfect for this. Im really glad i got to try this one.

I haved loved this fragrance since I first tried it. I feel so comfortable and safe wearing it. I finally realized why. The aldehydes in this high concentration are disguised, but they are the same used to scent the original Dove Soap bar. So basically I had already been wearing this for years before I bought the scent.

This one is not a typical oud which some people are afraid of trying because it says oud in the name its really good well rounded fresh take on oud which everyone can wear and all year round its master a true hidden gem which deserves more love

Lovely creation, definitely unique and brave, not for everyone, but highly elevated. I love the play on dirty and clean, dark and light. I believe this deserved more attention.

Praline has always been a struggle for me to enjoy in a perfume, but Oud Khol made it forgivable. Who would have thought aldehydes and praline can be so seamlessly blended?

An animalic sexy oud with a clean soapy undertone. It is very juxtaposing, you get a clean dirty feel that remains persistent throughout. Incredible!

Cheek smell in it is intoxicated, it has a good performance in cold winter night, I can not help to sniff the place where I spray it!

"Mommy, you smell like the prettiest perfume ever!," said my 8-year-old daughter this morning before school. She's just as surprised as I am that everyone is insisting Oud Khol is "masculine" and "manly." Is it the aldehydes? Is it the sweet "praline" note? I don't know, but I find this one very wearable for both men *and* women, and I'm about shocked to death that I'm enjoying it when I would have placed all my money on hating it based on the name alone. But you know how it is: you receive a free sample with a purchase and you've just gotta try it regardless. So here I am! If I'm being completely honest and upfront, I generally despise oud-based fragrances. No, not actual agarwood. I inherited chunks in my bohemian grandmother's jewelry chest, and they smell divine. I have long been trying to capture the exact essence of the stuff with zero success. In particular, I'm sick of synthetic oud screaming at me everywhere I go these days. It's not even the supposed "fecal" or "barnyard" aspects of oud that turn me off: I love a good skanky, animalic perfume, and I've never really gotten barnyard from oud anyway. It's that repugnant, medicinal, harshly astringent/antiseptic/rubbing alcohol, burn-my-nostrils nature of most of the big name ouds that are popular these days that make me screaming mad when I get a whiff of them in public spaces. They're awful and make me feel physically ill. So with a name like Oud Khol, can someone please tell me why I'm drawn to my wrists right now while wearing this stuff? I mean, it's certainly, ummmm...oudy-woodsy, for a lack of a better word at the moment. The smokey wood is peeerrrrfect. So much wood and so good! Definitely not natural but very well done damn close to smelling natural. I appreciate that this one isn't throwing in discordant floral and/or fruity notes like so many others do (I might usually be a Guerlain fan, but Cherry Oud, I'm looking at you!). The smoke certainly helps ground everything and adds depth to the praline. I do like a good leather, but the aldehydes mixed with leather here is a bit too in-your-face and harshly inescapable at first spritz (that might be the "sour" note others have mentioned. Very masculine at first), but it dries down in a matter of minutes, not hours, on my skin, and seems to stay at a pleasant level amongst the sweet woods and moss. As a woman, I do love stereotypically "masculine" and unisex fragrances, and whatever it is about my chemistry tends to sweeten whatever I'm wearing, which might explain why I'm typically not one to wear super sweet fragrances. Oud Khol is quite sweet on its own, but not *too* sweet. There's a vintage quality to this that I dig. An hour later and it's smokey, lightly sugared-leather and moss. Yep, totally diggin' it! I don't think I'd buy a full bottle just yet but will have fun playing with this sample until its gone.

Oud Khôl, a paradox in olfactory form. Oud Khôl, a fragrance that oscillates between the ashen dryness of finely milled kohl and the unctuous indulgence of most subtle gourmand. Oud Khôl, a chypre at heart, an oud in spirit, and yet inexplicably fresh. Truly a perfume that beguiles and bewilders in equal measure. Instead of the dense weight of oud and cavernous shadows of smoke I had braced for, the opening brings this surprising clarity, not gleaming freshness but more of a sharpness slicing through the air like light reflecting off obsidian. Likely the effect of aldehydes, an ephemeral brightness that flickers for but a moment before being swallowed whole by the encroaching dusk of an unmistakable oud—feral, tarry, rich. Interwoven with its animalic growl is however something unexpectedly gentle: the fatty smoothness of extra dark chocolate truffles, velvety, malty, cream in a sea of ink. There also arises this mineral dryness, evoking antique makeup compacts filled with powdered antimony and soot. As commonly echoed, this fragrance is smoky, definitely, but not in the smoldering embers sense; this is very accurately the ghost of crushed charcoal along a lash line. I get oakmoss too, a damp forest floor, grounding the composition and perhaps giving rise to what others have pointed out as a masculine quality. Yet the animalic and the refined, the smoky and the smooth, they suspend most femininely in time like dust motes caught in fading witchcraft candlelight. A deep, maroon leather-clad embrace made strangely airy, allure and austerity at play. Sniffing it, I am caught between finding its freshness invigorating, and questioning if it the darkness that should have been its true calling. I never quite decide—it never quite decides— and that is perhaps Oud Khôl's most haunting contradiction of all.

The sour-cheesiness of the oud with the clean, almost metallic sheen of the aldehydes is definitely one of the most arresting openings in recent memory! If Oud Nude is a cozy sweater, Oud Khol is a weird, haute couture fashion piece whose artistry you can absolutely appreciate and be in awe of even if you have trouble thinking about when the heck you'd ever wear something like it. To be fair, after the dissonant but intriguing initial onslaught, it becomes less challenging. While this is a far cry from Djedi, I'd say there are some interesting aesthetic parallels--namely the pairing of a kind of rosy floral aldehyde with bone dry, animalic woods. The praline note of ethyl maltol peeks its head in and out every once in a while (and I'm not 100% sold that it's necessary here), and a sort of inky oakmossy accord does provide a kind of velvety landing pad for the drydown. I think this is really compelling--the kind of scent I'd love to always have a sample of to sniff and put a dab on when the time is just right, but I definitely can't see myself succumbing to a full bottle.

The first 4-5 times I wore this I hated the praline accord so much that I put it away for a 2-3 months, and now I'm testing it again. That god awful praline note still is bothersome but not as much, and I'm getting more of the good stuff which is an ashy, bakhoor type oud, leather, and a nice hit of oakmoss. It's hard to explain but It has a coal smell but in a clean way, thanks to aldeydes and musk. It's also a bit scratchy and powdery on my skin, and the drydown has a vintage chypre vibe. I don't find this difficult to pull off but I wear and enjoy some wild niche fragrances, so your mileage may vary. I still hate the praline, but I can tolerate it now. Performance on my skin is fantastic. Conclusion : The praline accord nearly killed this fragrance for me, but I've learned to tune it out and enjoy the good parts. ------------------------------------------------------ Scent 68/100 Performance 90/100

For Guerlain's first Oud trio, this one outstands without any doubt. Oud nude is something timid with Guerlain's powdery-almond-thingy... Oud Cherry, oh please (is it necessary to try everything with cherry note when Guerlain already presented her best cherry fragrance La Petite Robe Noire). However, Oud Khol is a skillful interpretation of oud note with modernized aldehyde-opening. I love this idea and respect the bold dosage of such market-unpleased creation since rose-oud tune is already too much played. Of course, I know, this one is not as impeccable as Aoud Cuir d’Arabie (Montale), but given the general midiocore level of whole L'arte et Matiere line, Oud Knol is pretty good... and quite challenging to wear for many people out there. Very NICHE and smooth indeed.

This is exceptional. Wow. Bravo! The opening is, indeed, challenging- I was genuinely confused. It smelled like poopy diapers during the first few minutes. After I almost wrote it off, it began to change completely. Suddenly, it turned clean and soapy. The fragrance continues to develop, moving into yet another, entirely different stage where a strong moss accord dominates, followed by a sturdy oud and leather combination. I am astonished. Extremely potent. Niche quality. So absolutely unique- I haven’t checked the price point, but I’m sure it’s worth it. In the second, “clean” phase, I would have said it’s easily unisex. Even now, I can’t truly decide. I still couldn’t help being a bit stereotypical with this one, so I rated it as more masculine. It’s amazing!

Leather jacket, cigarettes, gel slicked hair. This one smells like the three combined, and to me, that smell is my father in the late 2000s. The smokey resinous leather smells exactly like a leather jacket would smell after a few decks of cigarettes. But it also adds this slight cleanness with the aldehydes that reminds me of my father's hair slicked back with gel. It's very strange for me, I love oud and I love this scent as it takes me back to my childhood and being around me father.

Testing my sample; this is a smoky and strong oud and leather with its edges softened by aldehydes and a touch of something sweet that I assume is the praline, though it isn't as gourmand as I associate with that note. Gets mossier as it dries down on my skin but that smokiness is still there. Cool/cold weather, this would be stifling and off-putting in the heat with how strong it is. Very strong on skin, my little spray is beaming up strongly from my inner elbow.

What a fragrance It’s a scent that keeps giving and keeps inspiring I gotta be honest I’m not sure what kind of oud was used but it’s not much I cant believe I’m saying this but to me it was enough here A different contrast of dark and bright Between oud and aldehydes the perfumer found the perfect balance between these colors To me mr.wasser regained my trust after his previous flop which was epices exquise A must try unless you hate aldehydes

Such a beautiful scent. I understand it is not for everyone, but it is for me! Smooth oud and leather. The aldehyde note is a little too strong for me, but only in the drydown. Initial spray is heavy oud and leather, but 30 minutes in the soapiness makes an appearance. It almost has a luxury, new car scent on my skin LOL. A 2ml sample is not enough and a 100ml bottle is too much. I enjoy it, but do not see myself reaching for it often.

The name Oud Khôl in my opinion is a perfect description: khôl makeup (I am thinking of Khojati's kajal for instance), smoothed with oud that gives it depth and opulence. The opening is harsh but becomes more enjoyable as it settles. I love the smell, but the same way I love the smell of ruber or gasoline, I don't think I could wear it for more than a few hours.

It's a different composition with synthetic strength that doesn't smell of animal or fecal . It is similar in style to the FM Arabian series, but I couldn't compare it to any of them in terms of smell. After 12 hours or so after the intense strong opening, the aldehydic skin remains. I liked it very much when it dried.

Ok so hear me out. I don't know if you guys ever had a chance to smell Amber Oud from Roja. This is the exactly same smell, for much less money. You know that Roja was working for Guerlain and even tho ingredients are different I guarantee that there is no difference in smell between Oud Kohl and Roja Amber Oud!

Guerlain Ouds First impressions - Cherry oud : opens up with cherry and some nice cardamom . Rose soon appears and cherry remains in the background. A nice leather in the base with some cypriol/ oud. I like the drydown. It has a slightly lipsticky/make up leather feel. very good performance. I need more time with this. i'm not a big fan of the cherry/rose combination. - Oud khol: Incensy leathery soap. opens with a burst of soap from the aldehydes. smoky almost charred form the incensy, sharp cypriol/ oud and leather. It remains soapy for long . I don't get the praline . very good performance. I'm not a fan of it. - Oud Nude: it's from the 24 gold / kalemat/ Raghba family of fragrances but its smoother and with better quality. Really nice raspberry, almond, vanilla and wood . Gourmandish, Delicious sweet fragrance . A hint of smoke. It's my favourite out of the three . excellent performance.

Collector’s item. Some may be repelled by a very strong, dry and dark opening. The beauty lies in the evolution and dry done wherein the softer and sweeter aspects come to the surface. To me this is a dark gothic leather fragrance with hints of freshness, but never enough. Only for the adventurous. Shukran Habibi!

This is definetley more male I couldn't imagine a woman wearing this at all, it's the strongest of the whole line for sure. Oud nude was my favorite from the new 3 releases. This reminds me of a rich middle Eastern man.

"Oh Christ!" I blurted on first sniff. This is a brusque little number, sharp and dirty. A jarring combination of soft, smoky, tarry oud with astonishingly harsh, soapy, peppery, incense-like aldehydes. A real challenge to the nose. What a curiosity! The opening, with the barnyard oud and harsh, harsh aldehydes is one of the weirdest from any major house. After the aldehydes settle (it takes at least 40 minutes), it becomes a charred, bitter, earthy oud, reminding me of the abrasive smell of burning plastic. The marketing PR is spot on, if this perfume had a colour it would be black. A dirty, greenish, inky black. It takes 5 hours on my skin to settle into smoky, majestic woodiness. Congratulations to Guerlain for having the guts to put something this challenging out there. Looking forward to hearing what others have to say.

This does not represent the Guerlain elegance or craft to my nose. It’s a shrill, faux-oud that has been turned into headache inducing concoction with the use of aldehydes and praline (?). There is some creaminess and leather. All these notes are not jiving with each other while the blend still seems seamless somehow (haha! alliteration). I get all this from just half a spray! Oud Khol is annoyingly repulsive (80%) and addictive (20%) at the same time. I doubt I will ever wear it but I still want 5 mL decant so I can keep smelling it from the nozzle. Weird, isn’t it? Also, I do get many similarities between Oud Khol and Soleil de Jeddah Afterglow. I will need to compare these two side-by-side to understand how similar they really are!

A trumpet blast of Aldehyde C-12 announces this fragrance, after which the aldehydes really kick in. After that, you'll notice some aldehyde C-12, followed by a nice little nuance of aldehydes. At this point in the scent's evolution, three aldehydes sit on each others' shoulders and put on a trenchcoat with a nametag that says "Oud" and stand in line at the Oud Club where a bouncer lets them in with no questions asked. Then after that you're treated to some prominent aldehydes. Rating- Aldehydes/10

This is so disgusting and Repulsive, smells like baby wipes with poop stains on them. i have my fair share of experience with real oud scents and "fecal" smelling ouds but this is hands down the most horrible fragrance i have sniffed in a very long time, vomit inducing

got a sample from Saks and definitely not for me ! definitely in the top 5 worst fragrances i've ever tried ! none of the s/a at saks like it either !

I am yet to smell anything that has assaulted my nostrils as violently as this “fragrance” has. I sprayed this inside of fenwicks infront of a heavily pregnant woman and she not only projectile vomited because of the stench emitting from my presence after spraying such a putrid scent, she also gave birth from the stress of smelling such a vile creation. I am not exactly sure how this scent is legal considering it may very well kill people if they’re close enough to it. I have smelt actual fecal matter much more pleasant than this. The “oud” in this perfume is reminiscent of vomit, rotten eggs and a dead body. I am rather into my wacky and wonderful fragrances however this is miles too far, after i smelt this for the first time i coughed up a bit of spew i had to release into the bottle i was smelling it from, which if anything probably made it a bit more bearable. On my way home after i hopped in my automobile with a good friend of mine, ghumbit (A.K.A gumbz), he was able to notice the foul smell on me as i entered and quickly vomited into my glovebox which was already overflowing with gloves as that is it’s purpose after all...i’m getting side tracked here! My point is, this is a real lady killer, literally, i walked past a homeless man with this on and he screamed and climbed up the nearest building where he was then obliterated by a laser beam from inside of the window. This perfume is so brutally vile i actually can not express it in words unless BLEUGHHHHHH counts as a word. Do what you will with this information, stay clear. If anyone wants any gloves please contact bulchonson on instagram some may have a bit of vomit but a little wash and they’re good as new! Please i do have too many gloves inside of my glovebox.
