Quand Vient La Pluie Extrait de Parfum

This is the second Guerlain exclusive that I've found completely underwhelming. (The first was Ne M'Oubliez Pas.) The slightly gourmand/vanillic/spicy perfume with prominent heliotrope is identifiably Guerlain (that powder!) and perfectly pleasant, but has been done better -- with more richness, vivacity and greater performance -- by Patricia de Nicolai in Kiss Me Intense. As Guerlain is now, price is no guide to quality, not that it ever really is with perfume, but especially not in Guerlain's case. I have older Aqua Allegorias that I enjoy wearing more than this. Wasser's revamped Mitsouko is both better and much less expensive than this. I'm not going to bother even sampling Guerlain exclusives in the future unless more effort goes into the juice. Verdict: all bottle, no juice.

Lots and lots of Heliotrope, super concentrated enough for it to smell like those sweet purple cough syrup, purple gummybears, and powdery makeup - in a pleasant and comforting way! Overall its a "nice" scent but nothing spectacular or crazy - it smells quite similar to Insolence EDP actually except instead of the tart and sour frutiness with a powdery floral undertone that you get with Insolence you get more of a dense, rich, sweet, and syrupy quality in Quand Vient La Pluie. Agree with drouhin's review that for the price you pay it is mostly for the bottle and novelty factor. If you want a close dupe to this all you need is to get Insolence EDP as I can say that to my nose it is 80% similar except insolence is more breezy while this one is more dense but they share literally the same DNA. Think of QVLP as the warmer more wintery rich-aunty of Insolence.
