Shalimar Oiseau de Paradis

I'm comparing this to Jicky and Bal a Versailles. If you like Jicky's citrusy opening, but find the drydown a bit unsettling; and if Bal a Versailles feels a little stale, then insert jackpot sound here... I have to say I impressed myself, I took a sniff of this at Nordies and said 'I"m sure this has civet in it!!!' None of the sales agents could verify, but yes, I was right!! Here's what I think you'll like: this is the most wearable 'skanky' scent I've found. the opening is refreshing, but the drydown is actually something you'd want to spend time with. Iris floats about (which I love), and maybe that is what prevents this from hitting the 'powdered panties' pyle. This is another fantastic, high quality fragrance that Guerlain slipped onto the shelves. I highly recommend it :-)

it's a powdery floral soapy smell, like chantilly it is only fo the ladies or chic woman, luxurious, incredibly sensual and intense, it's a shot of youth and maturity ( two quality rarely collected ! ) Lemon goes fast enough that it does not bother the skonky I also feel it is perfect ! I am beginner in perfumes, I can not say more, but I wear it almost every day.

This was a limited edition bottle that was discontinued and can't be found anywhere. I felt like I wasted my money on it because it's the exact same scent as the new Shalimar Eau de Parfum. The bottle is so cute though! It has the little bird feather on it. There might be more vanilla in this scent as it becomes a familiar smoked spicy vanilla. It has the incense and opoponax and the patchouli. It has a medicinal smell, a citrus scent and a jasmine floral scent. The jasmine surprised me because I was never able to pick up on it in the other Shalimar perfume. This is an Oriental of course and it's very nice to have 2 Shalimars instead of one but I'm through with Shalimar because they are basically the same formula: citrus opening, lightly floral with rose and jasmine heart, and a base of incense, leather and sandalwood. I have not finished this fragrance yet and love to take the bird feather bottle with me in my handbag an spritz it on throughout the day. Unfortunately this scent disappears quickly on me and I have to reapply it. Always refreshing and dense, very much a fragrance to wear to nightclubs to go dancing and for sex.

Shalimar Bird of Paradise Essentially the same as the Shalimar we all know and love with that smoky gourmand vanilla patchouli. As usual it opens with the citrus notes that all the Shalimars open with. However everything changes once the fragrance gets to the dry down and we experience the base notes. This is where they changed it. There is musk and another animalic note most likely a synthetic civet. This is a furry musky scent and has no vanilla to my nose or just a small touch of it and it's barely perceptible. I love the bottle and the cute little bird feather. They might still be selling this fragrance on ebay. It was not very popular but I loved it when I first wore it. Very sexy and musky appropriate as an evening cologne to go out on dates and or concerts, theater, dinners. Definitely on the unisex side but then again all the Shalimars are. Wonderful fragrance. I wish it had been more of a success.

I own this edition of shalimar. I love the deep blue bottle, and the playful blue feather attached to the top. I little of this goes a long way. This was the first serious parfum I ever bought, and it took me a while to come to an understanding with it. My first memories of grown up perfume were vintage Oscar de le renta and Chanel #5, and this is a different beast all together. It is a bit more beastial, but it is a beast with a beautiful physique and high cheek bones. This is no little girl's toilet water; this is a serious perfume of the 1925 model, and she makes no apologies. You wear this when you are grown up and know who you are.

I tried this perfume today and I must say that I didn't paticulary like the citrusy and slightly soapy opening, However once the top notes fade away it turns into a nice,spicy and rather sexy scent. I must say that I am absolutley inlove with the dry down the leather,vanilla and incense blends perfectly. So I think that this is a really high quality perfume,that's just perfect for a night out.

I never liked Shalimar, it smells too much like baby-powder.Maybe appropriate for use in a nursing home.
