Spiritueuse Double Vanille

Deliciously rich boozy gourmand opening. Warms up on the skin and radiates a sweet yet sophisticated vanilla which projects across the room. A beautiful delicate smokey incense and amber develops although it stays very close to the skin, which in one way invites you to smell your skin time and time again, but I wish the projection was smokier. My husband is adamant that it just smells like expensive cocoa butter, and that it's too sweet to be sexy, but that's just the main opening. If this was a touch darker on the incense it would be pure sex in a bottle! I personally find it a beautiful and comforting winter scent, and I'm now officially obsessed with it. It's grown up, sophisticated, womanly and inviting. The drydown is heavenly smokey amber vanilla, and of the kind you wake up the next morning still smelling your wrist and swooning. I was hoping for this to be sexy black velvet cocktail dress territory, but I think it's more luxurious cashmere sweater, ski lodge, sex by the fire vibe. Undeniably great quality. LOVE!

I've always adored vanilla and booze centered fragrances. I've been on the hunt for the most authentic and rich vanilla I could find. I thought Nishane Ani was just about the best vanilla I had smelled, until I sampled this. The vanilla in Ani almost smells synthetic compared to this. This smells like photo realistic vanilla beans. I only get a faint hint of the booze on my skin, but I get an overload of beautiful rich creamy vanilla. This stuff projects like an absolute monster off my skin. 1 spray from my sample on the back my hand and I was getting strong wafts for hours on end! Needless to say, after sampling, I immediately ordered a 200ml from Guerlain. Wow they are tripping with the price increases, but $360 for 100ml, or $550 for 200ml. The choice is obvious, unless you want to throw away even more money. If you can afford this, it is so worth it!

SDV is highly reviewed and extremely well-liked in the industry, so I don’t have too much to add. I’ll just say this: it is one of my favorite fragrances for the fall and winter; it is one of my favorite Guerlain fragrances; it is among my most worn fragrances; and it is among my favorite vanilla fragrances. The sweetness is complimented by boozy, ambery, spicy and woody facets, giving the vanilla a slightly dark and smoky character, while still maintaining a sweet and sensual side. I love SDV! It is delicious, intoxicating and addictive! A true masterpiece from Guerlain!

If I were to judge this by looking at the notes, think I wouldn’t like it but I love it. It’s a beautiful vanilla and I want a whole bottle of it. Not a sweet vanilla but a more realistic and mature vanilla. ❤️

I smell too much tobacco. I'm glad I purchased a decant only.

Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille has a very pleasant opening. The initial application brings a noticeable rum accord that blends well with the vanilla and ylang-ylang creating a fruity boozy scent that feels very inviting, almost delectable. The vanilla, benzoin, and ylang-ylang are key in creating that delicious gourmand vibe. The rose and jasmine add a soft floral tone which is not prominent. Although the official notes are distributed in three layers, top, mid, and base, the fragrance feels linear as all notes come up upon application. Once Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanilla has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate projecting boozy and vanilla fragrance with light floral and spicy accords. The fragrance feels casual, mature, inviting, bold, delicious, exotic, masculine, natural, nicely blended, and very pleasant. Batch reviewed: 2020 Wow Rating: 9/10. Occasionally it can be found discounted and as such, it becomes a great buy. Blind-Buy: Yes, but only if you are familiar with its main notes, rum, and vanilla. Dior Feve Delicieuse by Christian Dior – La Collection Privé is one of the best gourmands/boozy fragrances in the market, pricy but good; Dua Fragrances – Beauteous Delight is the clone of Dior Feve Delicieuse, and it is a good clone; Kilian Black Phantom EDP features delicious coffee, rum, caramel, and dark chocolate; Kilian Black Phantom EDP contains citrus, cinnamon, and sweet notes; Parfums De Marly Oajan EDP is slightly boozy, sweet and spicy; Nishane Fan Your Flames features woody, sweet, coconut, and rum notes, and it is very good. Summary: A moderate projecting boozy and vanilla fragrance with light floral and spicy accords that feels casual, mature, inviting, bold, delicious, exotic, masculine, natural, nicely blended, and very pleasant.

Imagine Vito Corleone in the opening scene of The Godfather where he is confronted by Amerigo Bonasera about a particular murder-for-hire of two young men. This scene takes place inside a dark and smoky room with just enough light to showcase the tension that exists between Vito and the undertaker, if that room had a smell it would be Spritueuse Double Vanille. SDV is the upper crust of the perfume world and its price/exclusivity pretty much sums up how rare this gem is. Spiritueuse was designed by Jean Paul Guerlain himself in 2007 with the intentions of it being a limited edition scent only available at the higher end boutiques in Paris. Double Vanille is an elegant and boozy fragrance reminiscent of dark liquor and tobacco. This starts out thick and decadent with heavy notes of rum and benzoin, there is a dark boozy undertone that stays throughout the initial stage and into the dry down. The opening is reminiscent of expensive liquor and pipe tobacco, the chocolate stage follows abruptly with a hint of smoke and cedar. Its middle stage is where I fell in love, once the alcohol and smoke have subsided you are left with the scent of sweet luxurious vanilla on a bed of dark chocolate. SDV is beautifully balanced between sweet and smokiness, plus it’s probably liable to get you a little buzzed too. Spiritueuse has amazing endurance and sillage, I would wear this all day and could still smell it lingering on my skin the next morning. The bottle really ought to come with a warning label or at least a seal of potency; its opening is heavy with the scent of booze, enough to sweep me off my feet at times. Overall a decadent and expensive perfume that is unavailable anywhere but France, there are alternatives such as Eau Des Missions Cologne by Le Couvent des Minimes; although that one is a bit sweet and not as earthy or wholesome. Spiritueuse is worth a try in my opinion, its cult following makes it almost mythical. Vienna.Pink

The following is from Msr Guerlain's page and is the same information that was given to my friend at the Boutique today. COLOURED QUADRILOBE BOTTLES As a counterpart of the coloured 125 ml bee bottles at the new Guerlain Parfumeur boutique in Paris, Maison Guerlain now offers a selection of five coloured quadrilobe bottles, equally in the 125 ml size. The bottles are made for existing EdP fragrances from the Exclusive lines. Purple: Parfum du 68. Green: Santal Royal. Orange: Spiritueuse Double Vanille. Red: Oriental Brûlant. Blue: L'Heure de Nuit. Priced at 640 €, they are more than twice as expensive as the coloured bee bottles. They will only be available at the Paris Boutique, as are the 'new' 125 ml Bee Bottles which are available in 8 colors and 18 different fragrances of varying concentrations to be filled from urns in the Boutique. (Fragrantica listing it as a "new" fragrance is simply an error. )

Got the discovery set a few months back and decided on Angelique Noir as my chosen one. I felt at the time this one smelled strikingly similar to BB Brit EDP when first sprayed. I’m revisiting this sample today and sprayed the tiniest squirt, so the dry down didn’t take very long at all. It’s absolutely gorgeous. I don’t know what note it is, it isn’t one of the resins or smoke nor is it anything warm. It reminds me of the smell of my grandmothers home. Will be getting this at some point.

Just tried this and what Coffee Girl said, it's all that and more, especially the opening scene to The Godfather, YES! This turns tobacco heavy on my skin, it's dark, dangerous and a little scary and I don't scare easily.Not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't this lethally boozy, tobacco vanilla potion. Not getting more than a touch of sweetness, to me this is pretty dark juice. Wear with caution, it could scare or seduce, or both - there's no telling which way it would go imho.

I think this might be the most 'vanilla-y' perfume I've ever tried. If I didn't know what it was I'd think it was the absolute best, highest quality ever made, pure vanilla extract right out of the bottle. I certainly won't buy it - way too much money, but I'm enjoying the opportunity to sample it and see what all the fuss is about. And now I know. Guerlain, as only Guerlain can, managed to make a soliflor, or soli-vanilla, that's somehow better than the real thing. ⁝

This is truly a masterpiece. I find the sillage to be intoxicating. It's warm rich decadent elegant and beautiful. One of the best fragrances ever made in my opinion. Its perfection on its own but layers well with other vanilla based scents too! 10/10

Very good scent. I really like it It is a light boozy version of tobacco vanilla with some whiff of Tobacco oud. Yes. I can smell both tobacco vanilla and tobacco oud in Double Vanille Its a mix Im going to love it

"This is an new fragrance. Spiriteuse Double Vanille was launched in 2016." Wonder what they mean by that? Also interested in the quadrilobe presentation - is this a parfum?

I love this but it instantly reminded me of Raghba by Lataffa on the dry down.

I believe this is a special edition bottle, juice unchanged.
