Today's review takes me to Guerlain with Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21, and admittedly, this is one I've approached with equal parts excitement and financial apprehension. Within the fragrance community, Vanille Planifolia has developed an almost mythical reputation, frequently discussed not simply as an excellent vanilla fragrance, but as one of the finest expressions of vanilla that money can buy. Unfortunately, Guerlain appears to have taken that last part quite literally. At $660 for just 50ml, this is an extraordinarily expensive fragrance even by luxury niche standards, which puts me in the unusual position of almost hoping I don't fall completely in love with it. A full bottle purchase at that price would certainly have some unpleasant implications for my bank account. Humor aside, that combination of reputation and price creates an enormous set of expectations. The composition itself is surprisingly focused, centering vanilla alongside spices, amber, opoponax, and musk, suggesting that rather than transforming vanilla into something else entirely, Guerlain intends to explore the material itself and surround it with enough warmth, resin, spice, and texture to reveal its full complexity. Vanilla is one of the most ubiquitous notes in perfumery, appearing everywhere from inexpensive designer releases to some of the most prestigious fragrances in the world, so charging this much for a composition built around it requires something truly exceptional. At $660, smelling good simply isn't enough. Even smelling great may not be enough, honestly. Vanille Planifolia needs to demonstrate exactly why its interpretation of one of perfumery's most familiar materials deserves to be spoken about as a benchmark for the genre. I'm simultaneously excited and slightly afraid to find out whether it does, because there are really two possible outcomes here: either the reputation proves exaggerated and my wallet survives, or Vanille Planifolia lives up to the hype and creates a considerably more expensive problem. Let's find out. Opening: The opening is sweet, spicy, and resinous. The primary notes I get are vanilla, spices, amber, and opoponax, with the vanilla and spices leading the composition. True to the fragrance's name, the vanilla immediately commands attention with a rich, creamy sweetness that smells remarkably natural, calling to mind genuine vanilla bean rather than frosting, baked goods, or the synthetic vanilla accords that have become so common in modern perfumery. Supporting the vanilla is a warm blend of spices that reminds me primarily of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. Rather than standing apart individually, they work together to introduce warmth and texture while preventing the fragrance from becoming overly soft or one dimensional. Closely behind them, the amber wraps everything in a smooth, glowing warmth, providing a resinous sweetness that expands the richness of the vanilla without ever overshadowing it. Lastly, the opoponax introduces a darker balsamic resin with subtle incense like smokiness and gentle honeyed nuances, hinting at the richer direction the fragrance will eventually take. Beneath everything sits a soft musk, adding a clean, skin like sensuality and just a touch of powderiness that quietly ties the entire composition together. The result is an opening that feels opulent and effortlessly luxurious, allowing every ingredient to contribute while never losing sight of the true centerpiece: one of the finest vanilla accords I have ever experienced. Dry Down: The dry down remains sweet, resinous, and spicy. The primary notes I continue to detect are vanilla, opoponax, amber, and spices, with the vanilla and opoponax now leading the composition. The vanilla has become even richer as the fragrance settles into the skin, developing an almost velvety texture while retaining the same incredibly natural vanilla bean quality that immediately impressed me in the opening. Alongside it, the opoponax has risen considerably, contributing a darker balsamic sweetness accompanied by a more noticeable incense like smokiness that adds depth without ever becoming overwhelming. The amber continues to provide its signature golden warmth beneath everything, helping bridge the creamy vanilla and darker resins into one seamless composition, while the spices retreat into the background and become more of a gentle aromatic blanket than a distinct accord. The musk also remains quietly present, maintaining that clean, powdery softness that gives the fragrance much of its sensual character. Rather than transforming dramatically, Vanille Planifolia simply becomes deeper, smoother, and more enveloping as it dries down, allowing the extraordinary quality of its ingredients to speak for themselves. The result is a dry down that feels less like a departure from the opening and more like a richer continuation of the same luxurious experience. Performance: The projection within the first hour is exceptionally strong, comfortably reaching well beyond six feet without ever feeling abrasive or harsh. Sillage matches that performance with a thick, luxurious scent trail that remains easily noticeable to those around you. After approximately four hours, there was virtually no measurable decline in either category, with the fragrance continuing to project and leave a scent trail just as confidently as it had immediately after application. Around the eight to nine hour mark, projection had only begun to draw in slightly, still reaching roughly six feet while maintaining a clearly noticeable scent trail. Even after ten to eleven hours, the fragrance continued projecting three to four feet with a noticeable scent trail before finally becoming a skin scent well beyond the twelve hour mark. Overall, the performance is exactly what I would expect from am extrait fragrance of this caliber. At nearly seven hundred dollars, exceptional longevity and projection should be a given, and thankfully Vanille Planifolia delivers technical performance every bit as impressive as the fragrance itself. When to Wear: Vanille Planifolia is unmistakably a fall and winter fragrance that is best suited for evening wear. Its composition embodies warm, inviting sensuality, built around creamy vanilla, glowing amber, dark balsamic resins, aromatic spices, and soft musk, making it an exceptional choice for intimate special occasions such as date nights and anniversaries. The richness of the vanilla and opoponax feels particularly natural during cold evenings, when the fragrance can fully open up without becoming overly dense or cloying. It could also function beautifully as a cozy casual fragrance for quiet nights at home, assuming your budget permits casually spraying something that costs nearly seven hundred dollars. Despite its undeniable luxury, I would not choose Vanille Planifolia for formal wear. Its character feels too intimate, seductive, and magnetic for settings where I would prefer something more reserved and traditionally elegant. It is also entirely unsuitable for an office environment, where its immense projection, persistent scent trail, and sensual profile would be overwhelming and inappropriate. This is a fragrance designed for closeness and personal connection rather than professional or ceremonial restraint. Blind Buy: From a financial perspective alone, Vanille Planifolia is about as far from a safe blind buy as a fragrance can possibly be. Spending nearly seven hundred dollars on a fragrance without first wearing it on skin is difficult to justify regardless of how highly regarded it may be. Interestingly, the fragrance itself is actually quite approachable. Unlike many luxury fragrances that chase uniqueness through challenging or experimental accords, Vanille Planifolia remains steadfastly committed to presenting vanilla in its purest and most luxurious form, supported by warm resins, soft spices, and musk that are all widely appealing. Anyone who already enjoys vanilla fragrances will likely find very little here to dislike. The question isn't whether the fragrance is wearable. It's whether any fragrance, no matter how exceptional, can justify this level of financial commitment. For that reason alone, sampling on skin before purchasing is absolutely essential. Final Verdict: Having now worn what many consider to be the greatest vanilla fragrance ever created, I can confidently say that Vanille Planifolia deserves every bit of the praise it has received over the years. After experiencing vanilla interpreted in countless different ways throughout my journey of over 600 fragrances, this stands as one of the purest, highest quality, and most luxurious expressions of the note I have ever encountered. Even more impressive is that Guerlain never tries to reinvent vanilla or hide it behind novelty. Instead, the house simply presents the finest vanilla it possibly can, allowing amber, spices, opoponax, and musk to elevate the composition without ever stealing the spotlight. The craftsmanship is immediately apparent from the first spray, the blending is virtually flawless, and the technical performance is exactly what one would expect for an extrait at this level. The only real hurdle is the price. Nearly seven hundred dollars for fifty milliliters is an extraordinary amount of money, even within luxury perfumery, and it pushes Vanille Planifolia firmly into grail territory. Even as someone who already owns several fragrances in the five hundred dollar range, this is a potential purchase that gives me pause. However, vanilla has always been one of my favorite notes in perfumery, and after finally experiencing what I genuinely believe could be its pinnacle, I already know where I stand. This isn't a fragrance I'll buy on impulse or because I happen to stumble across a good deal. It's a bottle I'll save for, think about, and eventually add to my collection because it represents the very best version of one of my favorite notes that I have ever smelled. Glad I didn't buy a full bottle of this... This smells like many spicy vanillas that I already have. (EX: 1899 Hemingway, Lalique Le Parfum, Vetiver-Golden Vanilla, Whispers in the Library) Granted, it does have Guerlains wonderful vanilla...but still...this isn't any more special than my other vanillas. And with how intimate this frag appears to persist on being, no one will smell it on me outside of a hug. I'll wear this to bed or indoors and stick to "SDV" for going out of the house... (UPDATE) I have to admit that I was COMPLETELY wrong about this fragrance...goodness. I decided to give it a full wear today and put on about 15 sprays thinking that it was so weak and understated. What do I have to lose...it's such an intimate frag...not like my other loud vanillas....right? *Big time WRONG* First indication was that the wife came into my work-room from the bedroom and mentioned that what I was wearing smelled good...REALLY good. Now....my bedroom and work-room are at least 15 feet from each other. I hadn't left the work-room at all and for her to be able to smell me from the bedroom means that this fragrance is MUCH more powerful than I thought!! The other thing is that she is very unimpressed with most of my fragrances...reacting with an "Its OK" for something making me jump for joy. So I got dressed and headed to work. Nothing while picking up breakfast, and the ladies typically comment on my appearance and scent. However, when i got to work...a few minutes after arrival one of my coworkers/unit-mates came into my office and asked what I wore today because it smelled SO GOOD! I told her what it was and she gave me two thumbs up and praised it's scent! So....apparently I'm the only one that can't smell this fragrance very well...for some odd reason. That sucks...I would like to have a grand experience with this fragrance...but i just keep going nose-blind for some reason. Not like with all of my other Vanillas.... I'm not understanding this... 23JUL25 UPDATE: Another coworker in my mostly empty section of the building comes down the hallway, I can hear heels on the hallway floor...stopping at every door, she comes into my lab and says "I had to find out where that amazing smell was coming from!!! DM...WHAT IS THAT!!!???!?!?!" So I explained this fragrance to her and sprayed a shot onto her wrist...her eyes rolled up into her head when she smelled it on herself. She rubbed her wrists together and rubbed them on each side of her neck thanking me profusely for gifting her a spray. I told her how much it cost for the decant and she nearly screamed! Then when I told her what a full bottle costs she actually did scream "GET OUT!!"....lol. I keep getting positive vibes from this frag and it's changed since I first picked it up. Not so much spicy, but really strong and natural-smelling vanilla with a balsamic kick that almost feels like a light suede in the far background now...really amazing. It appears I'll be saving up for a full bottle... 27JUL25: More comments and compliments today heading in to work. This is crazy... This is turning out to be my most complimented fragrance of all time. Yep....definitely have to get a full bottle. 😓

I think you will be surprised at this review. Because of how expensive VP21 really is, I have held it to a much higher standard than I would with a fragrance that is around $300. Think about that. $300 is exceptional. That is around exclusive High end luxury Brands and independent niche houses. This fragrance blows them all out of the water at a whopping $695. For a 50 mL! Let us compare properly everybody. It should be 100 mL because everything else is currently being sold 100 ml. That is $1390. Guidance extract at 100 mL is around $700 if you include tax etc. So I absolutely have the right to critique at a higher standard because they are asking you to pay $600 more. More than any other fragrance house I have seen. I am not the oracle by any means, but I do spend every day of my life in the fragrance industry. Although this is a very classy vanilla, there is severe lack of personality. It's almost forgetful you have it on after an hour or so. For how outrageous this price is, I at least want something people can remember me by. I understand elegance and I understand class. But I also understand underperformance and I regretfully have to say that is what is happening here. Yes, you do have to adhere to Guerlain and the identity that comes along with it as the guerlainaide. Did I spell it right? Don't forget I am using my voice control, so it is quite a pain in the ass having to spell out every letter in the word. But I think it's important I say all of this because it is remarkable how overpriced this particular collection is. I was only able to purchase a small sample from a third-party and I regret that considerably. I am unimpressed by Guerlain and I think their products are not worth the money. I can recommend numerous other houses. If you are in your 30s or are younger, this house is not for you. That's how the cookie crumbles for me.

Absolutely gorgeous vanilla! When I first tried it, it sort of smelled like your wealthy neighborhood grandma would whenever she'd put her winter coat on. Expensive, no doubt, but it'd make my nose scrunch. But then, oh, that drydown... you guys, it's absolutely MAGICAL. 100% unisex, with a longevity that more than makes up for it's price. 550 euros, come on... It's a warm, ambery, gourmand vanilla that is mainly linear (without taking the stronger opening into account). After 30 minutes or so, it's linear and you will LOVE this. On clothes, it's ETERNAL. Just now I opened my wardrobe to grab a shirt I used pretty much a month ago and it STILL smelled of vanilla when I put it on... It's not beast mode, you won't fill a room with this fragrance, but every time you stop at a crossroad you will smell it, and you leave this nice gentle non-invasive trail that people will stop to sniff and admire. I get compliments from family members and friends, even those who always have something negative to say about your fragrance choice, and even they love it. It's pricey, no doubt, but splurge on this, guys. Winter, cold day (more like evening vibes). Definitely found my signature scent!

Gorgeous vanilla amber. Spicy, slightly sweet vanilla with hints shiny dark chocolate that really good vanilla has. Faintly powdery from the opoponax and the amber, but I haven't gotten any tobacco as others have. Everything is in proportion like a great Guerlain vanilla should be. Not a huge sillage, but it's eternal in longevity. People will ask what your perfume is, no one will say "I smell cookies" in the elevator. It's not that kind of vanilla. But the thing is: while I love it, I feel stupid for spending $500 on it. I bought it in Europe - but if you buy in the States, you'll spend $650 plus tax. For 50 ml. I won't go hungry, my kids won't go without shoes, my husband didn't care that I spent that much and I'm very aware of my privilege - but.......who the hell does LVMH think they are? This is worth $150-200 tops and don't spout "natural, high quality ingredients" to me. Just say influencers and I'll nod my head. Love the scent, despise the fomo. Not preaching just trying to figure out where and when I was led off the path and started believing "I'm worth it".

I’ve made a little bit of a dent on my bottle, but I wanted to give more thoughts on this again since I was abit skewed by the novelty and recency bias the first time around and now I’m more sober regarding the scent having worn it more frequently. It smells like a very luxurious, decadent, spicy and refined vanilla. Vanilla formulated into a greatly luxurious essence, but not something that is essential or perfect whatsoever in my opinion. Most definitely would be stellar if chosen as a signature fragrance— but for the price, it is just not tantamount to the actual value of the perfume. I cannot in good conscience justify anyone buying this full price if they haven’t sampled a greater variety of vanilla fragrances (this being my condition when I first purchased) and they’re absolutely sure that they love this and are willing to purchase it. In my opinion, people can find better executed vanilla scents which they would like more and with greater value in other fragrances🤷 Edit: I agree with the person who said that this smells like cured meat😭

I tested this last exactly one month ago. On skin and I sprayed a couple sprays on my shirt. I left the shirt on my bed and every time I lay down I get a whiff of the most delicious vanilla scent. It's heavenly. On skin it's quite soft, expected from an extrait. I was on a hunt for an Alien Essence Absolue replacement as it is unfortunately discontinued. This is very close. Not as strong as Alien EA but has that photorealistic vanilla bean quality I'm looking for. No spices or aromatics that get all the attention. Just sweet, woody slightly smokey vanilla. Now, the price is absolutely ridiculous. Definitely over priced. For that amount of money you could buy a good amount of vanilla absolute or get yourself loads of vanilla beans and tincture it yourself - but that would be reducing the work and artistry that went into creating this fragrance. So yeah, if you have extra money to spend, I guess go for it. But if you're like the rest of us, we must look else where for a more affordable option.

WOW. this is made for the people who love warm, comforting vanillas. sweet, deep, captivating, beautiful. the two most frustrating things about this fragrance are: 1.) the price is rent-levels, and 2.) how familiar it smells without actually smelling like anything else i own. i actually had dupes for this fragrance in my collection long before i ever bothered to buy a sample, and wow... it should be illegal to write dupe reviews on the pages for the originals. i have had the genre dupe/clone in my collection for a while and i sprayed these on opposite hands and there is absolutely a difference in quality. the guerlain is cozier and the spice blend is warmer, where as the dupe/clone smells colder because the spice notes are louder and bring an intensity as opposed to a warmth. this is an incredibly special vanilla. at the price it's at, i can only see it being worth the purchase for die-hard vanilla lovers who love the smell of a warm, pure vanilla over gimmicky gourmands.

Vanille Planifolia is -eyes rolling back into your head with a moan- worthy. As a complete loyalist to Spirtueuse DV, I feel like I am cheating a bit loving this so much, but whilst they are for different occasions, they are almost neck and neck for winning the badge of my soul (vanilla) scent. This is a very pure, opulent, luxuriously smooth, decadent, and silky vanilla.It reminds me of the homemade vanilla custard I make for special occasions, but instead of being made by me, its being made by a world renowned chef, and being served for dessert to royalty in their golden palace. Its indulgent without being too sweet, like the first time you taste vanilla extract and are shocked that there's no sweetness, this vanilla is so good that it doesn't need sugar, she's rich and mature. Add the MOST beautiful soft amber accord I have ever worn, with just the right amount of spices. It's good and I don't care how much it costs.

At the store, I sprayed vanilla planifolia on my left arm, and Iris Pallida on my right arm. I sniffed both and said to the sales assistant at Harrods "the vanilla is quite mild and weak isn't it?" She looked almost offended. I like vanillas, but the opening didn't speak to me, it reminded me of SDV which reminds me of root beer so I walked away with Iris Pallida which is an atomic bomb of a perfume. Could no longer smell it on my left arm after doing the dishes and showering, but the iris was still detectable on my right arm. I was so wrong about it on first sniff. Over the next week, I kept catching whiffs of vanilla planifolio every time I was within 2 feet of my coat and it was beautiful!!!! I would smile, and for a moment be transported somewhere into the clouds, where it felt like happiness was in eternal supply.

Vanille Planifolia does things to you. A couple months ago, I had bought a 5ml decant. I never thought it was worth the price. Now, I think the price is great for what you are getting. This is my favorite vanilla scent ever, it is perfection. Creamy, sweet and slightly woody, I could speak about this scent for days. Learning the tedious task of creating this scent, and extracting the vanilla really made me appreciate it more. Vanille Planifola (the plant) is manually pollinated, which only blooms for one morning. Afterwards, it takes almost a year for the plant to be ready for harvest. The vanilla is then aged, and bottled at 30% concentration. Which is the reason for the amazing projection and performance. I get around 15 hours with room filling projection! This stuff is perfection. My first REAL 10/10. 10/10

This is gorgeous! This is the first true, realistic, vanilla scent I have found - and I have looked everywhere. This vanilla is not disturbed by anything, it is beautiful enough to be the solo star of the show. This is not a girly vanilla like Vanilla Woods or Gorgeous Orchid or Goddess, this one, is a fully unisex grown ass sexy MF. If I had the money, I would wear this for the rest of my life. However, I am not lucky enough to be born into money and I cannot justify spending this much on a daily perfume. But how I do wish they would make a travel size for us normal people so we could sniff it at home, forever, and maybe MAYBE special occasions. This is the most sexy perfume, not because it's trying, it just is radiating confidence. My good. I'm in love.

This stuff is amazing. But the price... ouch. I bought a 5ml decant, this stuff ran me back $100 for such a small vial. I like it, but not enough to spend $700 on a 50ml. Do not get me wrong, this stuff is some of the best vanilla I have smelt, heck, maybe even the best, but I can never justify the price. Aside from talking about the price, this fragrance is really nice. Like I said earlier, this stuff is some of the best vanilla on the market, really sensual with some amber and spices. Really well rounded and high quality fragrance. Extremely strong and projects well. If Guerlain would lower the price down $100-200 I would 100% have this in my collection, but at this price in my opinion it is not worth it. 9.6/10

It’s always so funny to read a couple reviews that stand out as “shockingly horrible” or “the worst thing I’ve ever smelled” and they out themselves as having broken noses... Anyways, Vanille Planifolia exceeds what I have known to be “vanilla” in fragrances! If you expect little, you will be blown away. If you expect very much, you will still be blown away. Such a unique, beautiful note of a dry musky vanilla that smells so edible without going into gourmand territory. Later on, for me, when this dried down on my work dress shirt, it smelled even better! Like the musk was gone and the vanilla was intensified to this vanilla extract. 10/10 scent with great lasting power.

We all know fragrance is subjective. With that said, I find Vanille Planifolia 21 to be exquisitely created ,and extremely delicious on my skin ph level. The spice is there, but not too much. The vanilla is stunning ,but not in a syrupy way. It’s absolutely a great purchase. I wavered over this purchase and finally went for it. You do not need many sprays. I do not understand some of the negativity regarding this fragrance. It’s definitely a Guerlain Vanilla and special. You can wear it anytime of the day and the dry down is beautiful, but I find it ,at that point, to be more of a skin scent! All love here for the scent.♥️ Complete luxury for me.

This is unlike any other vanilla I have, and I have several including Angelique Noire, which is my favorite, Cuir Beluga, Feve Gourmand, Mon Guerlain, Babycat, and several others. It is overpriced for sure, but if you are a vanilla lover, and $$$ is not an issue, go for it. It's not a gourmand type vanilla, but a grown up, vanilla. Very pretty. And you only need a couple of sprays for good silage, and it lasts the whole day and beyond. Edit: I realized, its quite similar, not identical or a clone to Celine, Black Tie, another one of my favorites. However, Black Tie is not as strong/silage nor does it have the staying power as this does.

This may have eclipsed YSL Babycat for me as the most sensual, full bodied and comfortingly sweet vanilla. It is the smell of someone who has lived a life and has decisively chosen to forge ahead with the beauty of connection, empathy and forgiveness rather than steely convictions and "boss b*tch-level up" trendy memes of so called success. This is a strength so sure of itself that it wholeheartedly leans into vulnerability and humility. Exquisite. Tihota and SDV are in the same family but live on the other side of the planet. I never not want to smell like this. I have over 280 niche perfumes. This one lives on top shelf for life.

just picked this up at the guerlain boutique in wbp. hoooooly shit. i had the rep put it on hold for me because they sell out of this stuff every week. boy am i lucky. this stuff is insane. mind you i have never smelled it before today. vanilla heaven. obviously, we know everyone has different tastes and everyones noses are different. to me, this is a warm, spiced vanilla. not overly sweet but it smells HEAVY. 1 spray is more than enough for all day wear as im at hour 9 and this stuff is still going strong. the dry-down is spiced vanilla bean ice cream. very unisex imo. i can't stop smelling myself D:

A divine vanilla. So this is it, my bridal scent. What to say more? This creation isnt the most original one, overall it is a perfume focused on a single ingredient... but it is so smooth, so well blended, so calming, the longevity is out of this world. The below mentioned Grand Soir by MFK is screechy and dusty next to VP by Guerlain. I like and own Babycat by YSL and Vanille Antique by Byredo as well, but VP is a little bit another league. I think you can own all of these mentioned vanilla centered fragrances, every one of them has its own charm, but the Vanille Planifolia by Guerlain is the winner.

Guerlain has continued to exceed expectations. One of the most authentic and surreal vanilla to touch the olfactory cortex of my noggin. Its comparable to the middle of a vanilla orchid in central Madagascar, or a middle aged Italian supermodel. The amber just exemplifies it even more by giving this warm background of sweet love, liked I'm being cuddled by cougars. (animal or women). I have to give credit to Delphine for getting her hands on the Guerlain extrait's. I don't believe anyone could've done it better. If you can afford the price tag, you have no excuse for not obtaining this blessing.

I’ll be honest I usually just blind buy Guerlain fragrances because I generally love everything they do, but due to the price point i ordered a sample of this one first. I was seriously hoping I wouldn’t love it and upon first sniff my heart just sank and I knew I had to have this. I’m a vanilla girl, and let me tell you this is the best smelling vanilla forward perfume I’ve ever smelled. I loved it so much in fact I bought the 125ml bee bottle. The mix of vanilla and spice is absolute perfection. Is it overpriced? Probably. But if you a Guerlainade fan you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely the most beautiful vanilla. I am typically not a person that reaches for vanilla fragrances but this one hits different. It is creamy and buttery without being overly sweet or spicy. It feels airy which is unusual for vanilla fragrances. It also last hours on the skin which is important when the fragrance is so expensive . I found vanilla planifolia on a perfume buying trip to Paris . I was going to treat myself to a bottle of Rose Centafolia but after smelling Vanilla Planifolia I fell in love. It is truly dreamy.

This vanilla is it. All of it. Rich, but not cloying. Sweet, but not candy. The addition of opoponax makes it all the more addictive. I have not yet worn it in warm temperatures, but in winter, it is a melody of beautiful warmth. It can stand alone as a singular fragrance and be stunning or be worn as a base with a soft floral. My current favorite layering combinations are with Prada's Infusion D'Iris or Hermes Hiris. I had to sell my baby toe to buy a bottle, and I will likely sell my other one when this bottle runs dry.

This is a beautiful soft and eternally-lasting powdery vanilla. The amber and musk are also soft on the drydown and the powder remains. It's softer than Spiritueuse Double Vanille and although the spices are there, they're well blended and the ever so softly spiced powder is what remains. It's what I would call a "lovely" scent leaning mature and either day or night in all seasons. It's refined elegance in a bottle. It leaves a soft scent-bubble, almost a whisper. I could see it being unisex as well.

MY SECOND REVIEW After a lot of hesitation, I bought it for the retail price because I'm a huge vanilla lover and i completely fell in love with this scent. I assume a lot of people reading reviews or watching videos and trying to form an opinion for the eternal question: ''is it worth the price?''. I only have a decant of this. I plan to save up and purchase a full bottle by my b-day. I also have Guerlain's SDV and Feve Gourmand, as well as a mini of Oud Nude. Guerlain is my FAVORITE perfume house. Anyways, VPE is such a beautiful vanilla and spice dream. I can not put this into words - the other reviewers have done this perfectly. I have only to say that this is art. I see this as the spring/summer sister to the winter/fall SDV. 10/10 My queen fragrance!

The queen of all vanillas. Pure golden vanilla nectar. This does smell like sweet and creamy vanilla pods with some spices. Some may say simple but it’s the perfect high quality, long lasting vanilla. This perfume also smells clean. I got a compliment wearing this that I smelled like fresh laundry. Also a compliment saying that I smell delicious. This is an all around quality, well made and beautiful vanilla perfume. It has become my signature.

This is definitely the best vanilla I have ever smelled. It has an ambery and slightly woody base and is just the right amount of sweet, very balanced, very sophisticated, elegant, clean and adult. Delphine Jelk and Thierry Wasser managed to combine the classic and the modern in Guerlain's most important ingredient. Guerlain Vanilla has always been a world reference and is now very well represented in this magnificent extract. Vanille Supreme!

This one is so yummy. To me it smells like the vanilla aroma we put on cakes. I would let it settle down a bit, putting it on 30 minutes before actually leaving the house. I tried Spiritueuse Double Vanille and to me, Vanille Planifolia Extrait 21 is more airy although still has some depth and less balsamic and lasts way longer on my skin. Exceptional longevity and strong sillage on me. Still find it way overpriced for the smell I get

As everyone has said.....this is the mother of ALL vanilla fragrances. The search for the best vanilla fragrance has come to an end. I have SDV and I love this more more more! I can not stop smelling myself when I wear this. This is beyond addictive. It's drawing. Yearning. This fragrance is everything. And yes it is ridiculously expensive but sometimes certain things are worth the cost. This is worth the cost.

OMG. This is the goat of vanilla perfume. This is absolutely stunning. It’s not at all a juvenile easy to wear vanilla. This is beautiful, mature, gives a rich vibes, kind of perfume . This perfume is always a compliment get her, and the longevity is beyond measures. Jelphine delk is absolutely amazing, and she has created some of my most favourite Guerlain fragrances vanilla planfolia being one of them. 😍

I think we can all agree that Vanilla is objectively the best note in fragrances. It's simply amazing. So of course this is held in such high regards, the whole Guerlain Extrait line is amazing to be honest. It's a powdery vanilla fragrance, it's pretty one-dimensional but I do not care, and that is not an objectively bad thing. Smell: 9.7/10 Performance: 8.5/10 Bottle/atomiser: 8.3/10 Overall: 9.5/10

Grossly overpriced, but beautiful nonetheless. The best vanilla perfume i own and have ever smelled, and i think nothing is dethroning it anytime soon. Will use my bottle very sparingly. Longevity is above 12 hour with moderate to intimate projection, you will get whiffs of it 12 hour plus. If it is too expensive then dont buy it, but if u like it that much, save up for it, its worth to own. 10/10

After so many years of being a frag head, I’ve limited my reviews at this point on fragrances as a lot of of the vanillas and Amber fragrances are fruity, leaning or too lactonic. This lies perfectly classic a deep opening of Amber vanilla, and drives down to a softer cleaner oponoax and spice that makes it more complex than just a skin scent. All vanilla lovers need this in their collection.

The most refined beautiful vanilla fragrance ever to be brought into my world. I am in love with this stunner. People follow me down to tell me how good I smell, every single time I wear this fragrance. This became an instant obsession, I even ordered any dupe that was supposed to smell like this, and nothing will ever compare. Vanille planifolia extrait 21 is a must for me. Always.

I dont want to justify the hefty price tag, but what I have to mention is the SUPERB quality. I can smell this perfume after a 6 !!! months on clothes. Show me other perfume which can do that. Otherwise I love this perfume, it is a special occasion perfume, definitely for a more mature and put together people. Vanilla & Guerlain magic at its best. My full review is somewhere below.

This is the ultimate lap of luxury fragrance. This is not a little girl's fragrance, this is a woman's fragrance. This is maturity in every definition of the word. The name even says so. This perfume is perfectly aged like a fine wine or bourbon. It is crafted. It is perfection to the olfactory senses. The vanilla is so rich and deep and remains sweet. Just beautiful.

It's good dammit. Very good. I do get the root beer/cola feeling at the top - but the purity/quality of the vanilla is undeniable. I like the spice profile here - it is way better done than in SDV and Babycat, etc. Here we get a feeling a euphoria. I want to roll around in this. I have a 5ML decant that I will have to guard with my life.

This is the longest lasting perfume I’ve ever encountered. One spray dabbed between the wrist stays 14+ hours. Reminds me of a smoky black vanilla tea. More vanilla and less smoky than the Spirutuese, it is undoubtedly the superior of the two. It even feels soft on the skin. I believe it is worth the price; the quality is clear.

Fantastic. Smokey vanilla on my skin. The longevity is amazing. Every time I’ve worn i get asked what I wearing. This is the best vanilla imho and I have a number of great vanillas. This is beautifully blended and smooth. It does have a nod to le labo patchouli 24 on my skin but I think that’s the smokey vibe. Wonderful.

God damn this fragrance. I tried and tried and tried to hate this fragrance. Put it on skin in store 2 separate occasions... this. Lasts. For-ev-er. Beautiful syrupy vanilla but not overly sweet, smooth, intimate. Truly the perfect vanilla. Figuring out what loan I’ll have to take out to afford this 🤦🏿♂️

Incensy, dry vanilla, slightly aromatic, often gives an impression of chai or root beer to some. Very unisex. Not a dessert vanilla at all. Some close cousins do include Le Labo Vanille 44, Dior Addict, even Blanche Bete. I have the Genre dupe La’Vanille and it is outstanding.

It’s a Guerlain vanilla. It can’t be beaten. Warm, slightly spicy, rounded, creamy...there’s something magnetic and enigmatic about it. Lasts for hours on me, which is a miracle. The price point is hilarious though. On which planet is a 50ml bottle of perfume £495?

Vanille Planifolia is so beautiful! And the lasting power and the dry down with the different compositions on the way down are just like a well put together masterpiece. But I cannot justify the cost so I will just get smaller samples that I can afford.

I have the dupe of this by Amara perfumes...although I've never actually smelt the original, i got to say this smell absolutely divine. It's so beautiful and sweet, and sophisticated and elegant. The amber and the vanilla worth so well together in this.

This has become my favorite fragrance and I was on the look out for anything that smell like this so I wouldn’t be using all my good stuff up. Vanilla Romance from BBW to me is close didn’t say a spot on , but a close.
