Guess Double Dare

This is what I call a very complex, unique and full of personality fragrance. A real hidden gem. I got a 30 ml of this a couple of years ago, and now I am thinking I need to buy a full size bottle. As many of us here, I have a considerable collection of fragrances, and this one was one of the few that I got to use up in a few weeks. Because I reached for it every day. It is green, crisp, fruity. Fruits in it like strawberry, apples, litchi and lime are NOT SWEET! They are sparkly like champagne... The green notes are also very much there, and yes, the main note that I get is violet leaf, really majestic. I'd wish the sparkly green opening would last more...drydown is light and sweet, due to vanilla and musk... I personally dare to say that this fragrance is fruity green perfection!

This is definitely one of those sexy fragrances you would wear when going out with the ladies while all dressed up. I don’t think I own anything that smells like this so I’m glad I grabbed it. Does anyone have a lid to this bottle they are willing to part with? I accidentally bought a tester and my OCD is making me all anxious about it having no lid. Lol MSG ME.

Sparkling, girly, cheerful. Intense and pretty. Very fruity but the amber radiates warmth and depth.

I picked this up at Marshalls as it was only 12.99, and I must say I was not expecting how good it is! It's sweet and floral smelling at first spray, and I can definitely sense the mandarin orange and litchi, but not so much strawberry. After ~5 minutes I definitely started to sense more of the jasmine, vanilla, and amber. It does smell very golden like a lot of reviews are saying. It's very pretty and feminine smelling. It just keeps getting richer and richer until around 45-60 minutes after first spray where it settles into the musk and amber. There is definitely a lot of amber in this one. I will say, the drydown is disappointing and sort of unpleasant, and even a little bit headache inducing and very ordinary and artificial smelling. I really liked this perfume at first but not so much towards the end of its life. It lasts a decent amount of time on my skin, around 4-6 hours. Overall I'd give this perfume a 6/10 because of how beautiful it is before the drydown.

For a $12 perfume, Guess Double Dare is good. When compared to niche heavy hitters, Double Dare falls short. You will smell like a 90's mall teen. This isn't a complicated or expensive smelling perfume. This is not a bad thing, however. I am glad I purchased this bottle. The citrus in Double Dare is bright and bouncy. The scent is fun and sunny. As a woman in her early 30's, I wouldn't personally wear Double Dare on a first date or at work. I plan to wear Double Dare on hot days in the city while wearing a sundress that's slightly too short. Or in other words--Double Dare is a fragrance I'd wear when I wanted to smell fun and fresh but when I don't want to waste one of my more complicated and more $$$ expensive perfumes running errands.

Guess Double Dare does smell golden! Great description aqua76239, one which lead me to try (and buy) this underrated gem by Guess. I was completely seduced by "warm cooked fruit in sugar"! I feel softly spoken vetiver, lightly peppered lychee, rich amber and thick French vanilla custard in Double Dare on my skin. I don't get the strawberry here, and the white flowers are quiet flowers. In fact Double Dare on me is reminiscent of a lighter and fruitier (citrus rind) Let It Rock without the weight of the heavy wooden spice rack. Immensely desirable for the upcoming warmer weather.

This is really pretty! It’s a warm, amber, floral musk, that’s work appropriate, but sexy for date night too. I actually bought this instead of dare by mistake, and I checked, saw the review below me, and felt disappointed enough to not even open the box when it came a few days ago. I’m glad I decided to see for myself. I like it a lot better than most celebrity fragrances, and this is more affordable. It’s a gem for the price.

I got this for my mother and I and on her. It smells amazing on me. I do not like it. It gives me jadore dior vibe. Very inoffensive and easy to wear definitely as jadore dior flinker. This is perfect for older women or girls that just like simple, clean scents. 👏 perfect for a first date it's not strong enough to suffocate somebody but you can still smell late. Lingering around, it's a good smell. Warm easy and cute

Double Dare is a warm, sweet, ambery scent, suitable for cooler weather. There is also a sweet fruity element underlying this fragrance, which would make me classify this a fruity oriental. There is nothing sharp or screechy in this, nothing woody or spicy. I agree with the poster who said this smells golden. This is smooth, soft and sweet. If scent had a color, this indeed would smell gold.

Edit: I mixed Guess' Double Dare with Dare, when I did my first review. Today, is my first time wearing Double Dare, and I like it! I like it much better than Dare--even though, I do like Dare. I really enjoy the fruity flowers, along with the amber note. It has good projection and longevity. My husband complimented me on this fragrance. Perfect for day wear.

Got this at discount store....wow! Blind buy went RIGHT! Smells more expensive that what I actually paid. Not good with describing notes, but will be wearing for more day office wear.

This is one I've smelled a million times before, because it is your standard easy-sell generic perfume. You can find this type of perfume at any discount store, or by the cash register at a Charlotte Russe. Double Dare is from the token fragrance family of fruity florals: Sweet white florals, capri-sun fruit juice, and vanilla, of course - the optimal concoction to generate mass appeal. However, this one isn't as sweet and girly as most of the others. This one is trying its hand at "adulting". It's nice, but boring. I believe the politically correct term would be "inoffensive". A quick reach for days when you're undecided, or to keep in your purse or car if you're a smoker and need to cover the smell of cigarette ash before you head into work real quick. We all know that one girl. The type that swerves into your lane while putting makeup on in the car, then gets mad at you when you honk. Yeah. She wears this.

I don’t get much fruity notes or violet, mostly the white florals, vanilla, and amber. It is kind of dated and I’m surprised that it came out in 2015. I can see why some say it smells cheap, but it’s not terrible. It does smell similar to a lot of amber perfumes. I could see this being kind of cloying in the daytime or summer. I see it as more of a fall, winter or nighttime perfume. I really like the bottle, with the little chain, it’s quite cute. At 6.99 on clearance at Burlington, I’m happy with my purchase, but I’m guessing that I will not repurchase this generic scent. Edit: When I first tried this, it was summer and it felt more heavy and strong. Now it is a crisp Fall day, it’s lighter and less heavy, though on the sweet side. I think you could pull this off in the daytime during the colder months and even cooler spring days, but it’s a little much in summer heat.

On my skin I mostly get the lily and A TON of violet leaf. For me, the violet leaf is the most prominent note over anything. It's green and soapy. The fruits are almost completely drowned out by the violet leaf in general. I get a little mandarin here and there. I completely agree with others that this is VERY generic, AND completely unforgettable. Wear time is four hours max. Projection is below average. HARD PASS. Save your money. (I know this in inexpensive but it's just not good) There are amazing cheapies out there. This is NOT one of them.

This is a patchouli lovers dream. I am NOT a patchouli lover at all, so I returned to store immediately! It kind of reminded me of Britney Spears believe. I have that one and do not like either, but I layer with Vera wang Princess and it’s tolerable. Patchouli isn’t even listed as a note, so I don’t know how they pulled it off but it’s definitely patch heavy:( The dry down is a nice vanilla amber though, it lasted around 3 hours.

I can usually do fruity floral patchoulis (think Flowerbomb) and was particularly interested in this cheapie due to a potential similarity to Coco Mademoiselle (my all time favorite). Double Dare just did not work for me. The Patchouli note smells heavy, dated, and vaguely medicinal. I keep catching a note of sweet latex.

Guess Double Dare opens strongly of cedar to me, combined with a sugary sweetness. Within 15 minutes, vanilla emerges. A powdery element follows after the vanilla, veering a bit towards baby powder. I don't understand violet leaf being listed, which is supposed to smell like freshly mowed grass or cucumber. I get none of that. If violet *flower* was listed as a note, that would make more sense to me, because I find this woody/powdery, not fresh/melon/green. The only green I can imagine might be from a snapped green twig. I'm getting a lot of creamy vanilla, sweetness, and woods. I think if you like White Woods by Clean you might like this, or maybe even Hanae Mori by Hanae Mori, but I find Double Dare less fruity than the latter, and the fruit seems more apricot than berries. Although Double Dare isn't really my cup of tea, it's an interesting combination of notes, and it feels well blended and balanced. If it reaches the right audience, I think it might be very popular. Super affordable too.

Hummmm... It does smell like it has patchouli in it. Also has a bit of a ylang ylang scent which might be why it's been compared to Casmir (it doesn't smell as sweet or vanillic as Casmir to me though so it's quite a different sort of perfume!). The first thing that sprang to mind when I sprayed this was Jungle by Lush. Also a little bit like a light and more chilled out By Invitation by Michael Buble. It's an odd perfume in that it doesn't really smell like any of the notes listed to my nose! There is a slight sweetness, a humid jungle style yellow floral and some really green and earthy, vetiver and patch kind of aromas. I have no idea if I like this one yet or if I could actually wear it, but I have a soft spot for Lush Jungle (or Tropical Fruit as it's now known!) as well as it's relative, Cacharel's Eden but I find both of those perfumes very hard to wear.

OH MY GOODNESS YOU ALL!!! I do my weekly Burlington run today. I was set to finally blind buy Guess 1981 but I decided to look through all the perfumes on the display and found a 1oz of this for 9.99. Of course I was going to buy it. Mind you, I didn't run to this website to look at the notes. I just knew I wanted it. I go to the car, smell it and my eyes roll back!!! I then looked up the notes and sprayed this on my skin and clothes. WOW! This is sexy and sultry in the same fashion that Guess Seductive Noir is. To me, this can be worn year round. It was 90° today here in Virginia Beach and I smelled amazing running my errands. Was not too heavy at all in this heat. What a magical find. Guess is my favorite fragrance house by far. Quality for bargain. THIS SMELLS LIKE A RICH B*TCH.

I smelled it in Guess store, fell in love with it and bought a gift set with lotion on the spot. Several weeks later, I seen same thing at TJ Maxx for half price! Grrr, I was not happy lol however, I do like this scent a lot. Its "golden" smelling-to me it smells kind of like warm cooked fruit in sugar, but it then it has warm ambery note and vanilla but it has almost chypre feel to it. Its not your typical fruity vanilla. Warm spicy fruit dipped in vanilla with some citrus peel lol I think that's the best I can describe it

Eau dear, lol. I blind bought this because I love Guess Dare. I would agree with missyumyum, this absolutely smells like patchouli- I believe it's the way the vetiver combines with the violet leaf. The vibe is absolutely a fruity-patchouli one. Might be good for some, but it's a deal breaker for me- so I have a 1 oz bottle up for swap!

If you like Zen by Shiseido and Coco Mademioselle by Chanel, you will like this one, too. It is more complex and less synthethic than Zen; the drydown is sweeter than Mademoiselle. It is way cheaper than both.

This is so delicious. A sweet candied fruit fragrance , with a nice warm amber undertone- perfectly balanced.
