Guess Man

OLD SCHOOL! And yet so dang charming... That pine note, overused for so long in the 80's and 90's, instantly makes me think "old man", but yet this is one pine scent that I really like! I'm pining over it even... ;D When I first started sampling scents, this was one of many that I bought tester vials of. Surprisingly, I feel the same way about it now as I did then: I loved it, but almost felt guilty about loving it, because of that old school reminiscent pine note. But the nutmeg and ginger (both old school notes, again) add a very soft powdery aspect that melds very well with the sandalwood. And I agree with everyone else - the sandalwood drydown might be the best part! Somehow it all comes together to be fitting for the time it was released and still modern enough for today. Im really surprised this goes for $15 a bottle and has so much dislike. I mean, I guess I can see WHY they dislike it, but it's a really charming scent nonetheless and I actually like this more than Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme and many other designer for men signature scents. The only thing I dislike is how much it reminds me of the original Grey Flannel, which is just old school and not charming at all. Then other times, it reminds me of Antonio Banderas "Antonio" for men, which is classic yet youthful, and shares the same "fir" note. Here's to hoping I meet a 30-something woman with daddy issues, because I'll be wearing this scent from time to time, and ain't none of you gonna talk me out of it!!! It may not be a crowd pleaser, but it's very charming. Plus, let's face it, I couldn't resell this one if I tried! :)

This review is based on first sniff after spraying on my wrist and wearing it for an hour or so. It's a very nice fragrance for man/women of all ages to place in his/her rotation for the upcoming warmer seasons. There's a good reason why Guess Man is one of the best sellers on Amazon... it's a great value and it smells incredible for the price. I blind purchased it for my summer rotation, but the moment I smelled this juice it reminded me instantly of Spring with its green/herbal freshness, fir and wormwood notes blended nicely with lavender, woody notes, and a touch of musk. It's not uber-masculine, but it's clearly a man's fragrance IMO. I loved how upon first sniff it immediately brought me back to a spring day in New England. However, it's not a so-called panty dropper by any means, and probably won't please fragrance snobs that think high price means higher quality... typical sheep. Pour this juice in a Creed or Dior bottle and it will become one of those houses best sellers. I'm really looking forward to Spring 2017 so I can rock this juice a few times during the season. It's a 100% day time fragrance and ideal for casual occasions. I'll update this review in April on its projection and longevity, or lack thereof. But I might have a long wait because today is Groundhog Day and Punsxutawney Phil saw his shadow. So I suppose its another 6 weeks of winter. Oh well... give me a beer!

The third fragrance I ever purchased (right after Hollister unisex cologne and Hollister Jake). I was 19, and found it in the Guess store in Honolulu which I’m guessing doesn’t exist anymore. It will always be associated with Hawaii when I took a school trip there my senior year of high school. A year later I was 20, in college, and thought I was too cool and mature for this cheapie when I was wearing stuff like Chanel Allure Sport and Silver Mountain Water. I gifted it to a friend. Repurchased two years ago right before another Hawaii trip for nostalgia, and I’m thinking I was such a silly guy to have given my first bottle away. Sure it’s cheap, but it just smells great. Clean white musk base with a fresh green aromatic melange on top, faintly linear, consistent. A little piney/woodsy without ever approaching that dated vibe you get from Polo Green, for example. Loved by women. Great warm weather choice. And still reminds me of Hawaii.

This for some reason I will always have in my collection. It was probably my signature scent for years before I really got into fragrances. This is a green, fresh, woody musky fragrance that’s nice. But performance is weak as hell. 1-2 hours. But for 20 bucks I can’t really complain. Guess is one of my favorite brand for clothes and jeans which is probably why i got into this. It’s a nostalgic scent to me and I give it a 7.5/10 since I’ve had it in my collection since I can remember. I’ve lost count how many bottles of actually have got of this lol. If this lasted longer it would be a 9 but its still a banger to me personally 🔥

Fragrances like Guess Man, Chrome, CK One, Drakkar Noir, and Nautica Voyage, all deserve a spot in everyone's collection. They are perfect for a casual, out of the shower pick me up for your run-of-the-mill day. The price point is great. The smell is pleasant if not complex. They are what they are: serviceable, safe scents. I personally enjoy wearing them from time to time. Another casual, affordable and fun fragrance you might want to try is Get Up! by Samourai. It smells like Coca Cola in a bottle. Don't you love all the choices in the fragrance world? I know I do.

Picked this one up years ago since my curiosity took over and it was worth it for the cheap price! Fast forward years later and I have another bottle. I'd say this is an aromatic, cozy, musky, sweet, and spicy masculine fragrance that fits in with casual clothing and the spring and summer seasons. I'd consider longevity for me as a bit more than the average moderate level but not long-lasting. Overall, 8/5/10 👍

This is ideal for fall, winter, or maybe spring; it is a very nice fresh and aquatic fragrance that is worth buying. You won't be disappointed if you like aquatic fragrances with hints of herbs and the good thing is that is not so expensive compared to other junk that are not so good like body sprays and other things out there, I highly recommend this one

Guess Man is one of those timeless cheapies that never disappoints. Fresh, green, and slightly spicy powdery, it’s easy to wear, and always feels clean. For the price, it’s a steal and easily one of my all time favorites in the budget friendly category also it has okay longevity and projection for an edt 6h+ 8.0/10 (2009 batch)

My husband wears this one often and I must say, WOW. It works well with his chemistry. A few of his patients even made comments about how great this smells on him. I don't smell the citrus when he wears it, and not really an overpowering spice or musk scent. It blends to a clean, yet totally masculine scent for him.

I don't know why people don't like this one. It reminds me of versace man eau fraiche and Nautica Voyage. It might smell a bit synthetic but it's fine.I really love the smell.Very good fragrance especially for the price. Rating longevity- 7/10 Projection- 8/10 smell- 9/10 Overall = 8/10

A very pleasing fresh and sweet musky fragrance with some woods. In my collection, it's unique. Longevity and silage both are OK. Very safe to wear anytime really. I just got a 50 ml bottle and I think I will buy another 50 ml. Update....This has grown on me - I love this.

I really like this scent. I don't use it for myself, but I want my own bottle for sometimes enjoy scent. I think it smells like a natural, mature, not too flashy but slightly sexy man.

Just purchased my first bottle today. I am glad to have decide it rightfully. The smell is so fresh and looks like a smooth trace after about 6 hours.

does smell very powdery and yet has a nice citrus smell that slowly turns sweet , lasting power isn't bad got a good 5+ hours .

DeMercado, generally more adept at female fragrances during his tenure, had two large mainstream successes in the male market with the fruity Calvin Klein Escape (1993) and the long-successful groundbreaking celebrity fresh fragrance Michael Jordan (1996). Those familiar with both with find some similarities in the heavy reliance on synthetic ingredients that blended together seem to overcome their limitations rather well. At the time this version of Guess Man was conceived, Guess had been slowly reestablishing itself in the department store clothing market after peaking in the late 1980's and early 1990's with massive international acclaim and record sales. Guess Man starts off very green upon application, with fresh green apple and just a touch of bergamot slamming the senses with an overload of hard to pick out garden spices and aqua/ozonic synthetics that come off quite heavy on first impression. These disappear very quickly, moving toward the middle notes with excessive impatience. The ginger, white pepper, nutmeg and lavender blend into a rather non-descript ginger heavy sent within five minutes after clashing with the top. The white pepper shows early in the middle and within minutes recedes quickly to the background. Guess Man leans strongly towards the fresh spicy category, with the ginger asserting itself the strongest the whole way through once the middle flushes the quick citric opening away with ease. Around the twenty minute mark Guess Man becomes more musky, blending early with the balsam fir, ginger and sandalwood with little to no trace of the amber and suede. All the ingredients seem like accomplices to a party missing a head-turner or more assertive personality to make Guess Man standout from the typical fresh ginger spicy fragrance. After another 10-15 minutes the fir receedes and the ginger and sandalwood pretty much close this one out. This is a rather standard release that offers little in originality but does a good job of balancing rather synthetic ingredients into a fairly attractive, youthful scent perfect for wearers 25 and under. If you like ginger over musky drydowns, this is something worth your while. Inoffensive, fresh, spicy and warm, Guess Man is harmless in its projection, fading to a skin scent rather quickly; but makes up for it with surprising longevity, often going 5-7 hours on average. Got this one for 20 bucks on sale. Overall, it is a safe product with has a terrific opening, but then dries down to a relatively mild scent after about a 15 minutes. Its a very nice spicy, sweet, and creamy opening. No fruits are listed on pyramid note, but I definitely sense a fruityness circa apple, bergamot/orange or melon. The combination of fruits combined with other notes give it a definitive bubblegum like quality, sort of like Paco Rabanne 1 million or Faconnable, but a bit lighter, spicier and greener. Its sorta got a similar structure to modern fragrances like L'Homme, Blue de Chanel and John Varvatos for men in a round about way, but toned down and less depth than those fragrances. Perhaps I'm liking the opening alot just because it mixes well with the alcohol. All around, this has one of the best openings that I have come across. A bit disappointed with the heart and drydown though as it fades very fast to a skin scent. Not much in terms of sillage. It's hard to gage the drydown, as I don't get much. Mostly linear scent, but I wouldn't say it is completely linear as some of the attraction in the opening fades out after a few minutes. To me the greeny/woodiness and spiciness seem to disappear. It is mostly musky and fruity with some faint amber and sandalwood. Its mostly a fresh, sweet aromatic scent. Because of its sweetness, I would consider this to be more of an under 30s fragrance, but soft enough to be practical for older gentlemen. Mostly a casual scent for warm and casual days in the Nautica Voyage range. Not much depth but the scent is attactive enough for close contact situations sorta like John Varvatos or La Nuit De L'Homme. It has a bit of that bubblegum feel, but its not strong enough to be a clubbing scent. It could be a good everyday work scent from the point of view that it is inoffensive and light in sillage. However, the longevity is not enough to last a full work day, at least not for me. From that perspective, I just took it to work and keep it there so that I can reapply at lunch. Kind off a generic scent, but it is a safe bargain bin choice. If you are not keen on spending $60-90 bucks for L'Homme, JV, or Blue De'Chanel, pick this up for $19.99. In terms of bargain bin fragrances I know of, I'd pick this 2nd behind Nautica Voyage, and both serve somewhat similar functions.

GUESS Man is quite the cool character, and has much to be discovered besides his superficial beauty and sexy sweetness. I find all the Guess mens scents to be quite interesting and very likeable... This begins very green and sharp with pungent bergamot and the tart squirt of a granny smith apple, then all of this is charged with ozone to make it airy and a little jazzed up. Quite an enrgetic first impression! As the heart opens and we get to know Mr Guess better. We get the smooth nutmeg, the soft spice of white pepper and sexy ginger. Then the armoise (mugwort-a silvery herb in the artemisia family) adds coolness and lavender towers over all of it with a very clean woody floral scent. As nice inside as he is on the outside! The drydown is very sensual and warm-suede with its smooth, soft skin like scent, spiced amber and peru balsam (a resin found in S.American tree myroxylon: Santos mahogany). He has a gentle strength about him from the egyptian sandalwood, and blue fir gives him a nice green down-to-earth feel. If Guess Man were really a man...you could take him home to Mother or (if you are a guy) be best friends through thick and thin. Sillage: decent Longevity: good Overall: 3.75/5 This is somewhere between a citrus scent, an aromatic green and an oriental woody-but it's the bright fruits and lovely lavender that get your attention and set the tone of this fragrance. A really nice refreshing scent that is not just like all the others, but somehow feels like one of the guys. Worth seeking out and sporting anytime of the year and to just about any occasion. GM is truly a breath of fresh air and an all-around good guy...

At first spray the smell is musky fresh quite similar to Versace man eau fresh but that’s not all. This changes a lot through out , then it goes into the heart which to me smell like a note combination from 3 other fragrances : man eau fresh , blgavri aqua marine and lanvin oxygene. The last one might seem unusual but the green aspect of this scent is similar to that of lanvin oxygene, but only slightly not overpowering. The dry down is where this shines a lot. It’s very reminiscent of channel homme sport eau extreme with that musky woody slightly soapy freshness, it’s brilliant. It’s very masculine and has old school fresh vibe to it. But stands out from your generic old school freshies. I feel that the perfume has been very well made however , has been overlooked due to the brand being guess who aren’t that well know for fragrances. The longevity on this is ok I would say a solid 3-4 hours, after that it lingers in the air; doesn’t disappear as I could still smell it every now and then but very weak. If it lasted longer and had a popular designer/niche branding to it this would probably be very popular. I’m not suggesting you go and buy this immediately but for the price tag and what to me felt like a well made non linear scent , you can’t go wrong. Overall it’s a unique masculine scent which is great for summer /spring . Scent : 8/10 Uniqueness:8/10 Longevity:5/10 Overall: 7/10

First initial review: This stuff isnt bad ! I have to admit though this is a scent you have to spend some time with before you judge whether or not you like it or not. This opens up with synthetic green notes mixed with pepper and then in the heart its a very sweet, almost candy like smell that smells similar to green jolly ranchers if im to be honest.lol Although im not a fan of the opening or mid of this fragrance the drydown on this is actually pretty nice. It dries down to a more smooth,soapy,clean smell with a little bit of the pepper there to add a bit of spice. The drydown really is the redeeming factor with this scent and is the reason i chose to like rather than dislike this fragrance. Projection is moderate with this but only for an hour and then its a skin scent pretty much. With that said though this does leave a fairly heavy scent trail. I can see this getting compliments as it is a very pleasant scent once it dries down. SO FAR: Id give this a rating of 7 out of 10 ! The drydown on this is really nice !!!

Wow, truly this smells like a Bic pencil, eraser and all! I definitely get that vibe but it isn't unappealing say like such fragrances as Gucci Pour Homme I that literally smells like pencil shavings and lead! No, Guess Man is actually quite a nice green/woody fragrance. I'm not sure if I'd say it's sweet but it does have this very light sweet feel to it and the woodyness really balances it out! This is perfect for anyone who is looking for a fragrance that isn't loud but rather bold, unique, and on a tight budget! Its sillage is subtle, which makes it perfect for class or the office, but it's longevity is very good (6+ hours) and it's perfect for any occasion/setting so I highly recommend trying this one out! I usually try not to overspray on any fragrance but with this one, I tend to since it's such a great scent and I really can't imagine anyone thinking this is cloying or offensive, and so far, the results are positive!

Gee I like that green note at the top. Is that the wormwood? Fir? Mint? It reminds me a bit of Midori liqueur. It's uplifting yet a tad cheeky, in the same way that a Midori alcopop would be. Unfortunately that's really where it ends for this scent. It's quite topical, with not much depth to speak of. I don't get sandalwood or musk whatsoever, but my bottle is several years old after digging it out of storage, so bear that in mind. I barely get an hour out of it, which is sometimes good if I just want a refreshing pick-me-up after work or a shower. Overall, it's handy as a fresh cheapie shower gel type scent, with a unique green note to give it an interesting point of difference. Just don't expect it to be useful for much more than a quick spray-and-go.

My review of a year ago was based on a used bottle which, I now realize, must not have been kept very well, or was from a bad batch. A new bottle from a freshly opened gift set (incl. gel and spray) is closer to what reviews led me to expect it to be. Good for weekends or whenever you want to (in close range) smell noticeably decent but nothing close to overpowering, unpleasant, or offensive. Pity about the feeble longevity and projection, but budget lines are what they are and you know that going in. If there's ever a list of What To Wear That Will Not Demand Attention But Smells Acceptably Okay If Detected, this belongs on it. It won't ever be a favorite of mine but it is no longer something I'll toss out in utter disappointment.

I hadn't smelled this one until recently. I can see how it would've been made alongside other fragrances of its time like Versace Man Eau Fraiche and Polo Blue. Not sure what it is about it that gives that feel. Maybe it's that the frags from the mid '90s to the mid '00s were a little easier-to-like than many of the the powerhouse frags that came before them but didn't have the aggressive sweetness of today's typical scents for men (with a few notable exceptions, like Le Male, etc.). Anyway, I like it. Spicy, green and aromatic. Nothing much sweet about it. Just a simple masculine frag. A good one if you work around only men and don't want to smell like a modern fairy-boy who employs a murse to carry your manpons.

Blind buy. Applied it for the first time today. Slightly strange top note, the smell is a bit oily. Lets wait for the drydown. Will update as the perfume progresses. Edit <+1 hour> Much better dry down. The oily smell is gone. Citrusy fresh smell remains. Sillage is short close to the body types. Edit <+2 hours> Sweet fresh smell remains. Possibly a mix of musk and Sandalwood, with a citrusy overtones Edit <+6 hours> Skin frag for the last couple of hours. The smell remains sweet and fresh. Overall rating - 7/10. Will I enjoy this while I have it? - Yes Will I buy this again? - No Final Edit: Was trying to remember what this smells like after drydown - the answer is Body Shop White Musk..

My girl got it for me last Christmas. I enjoyed it from the start. Synthetic but pleasing non the less. I just started getting into fragrances so when I got this last year I thought it was the best thing ever! Now I realize there's really nothing amazing bout it. I'm not gunna lie, looking back compliments always seemed to be given by other girls and guys. It comes off as a great clean smell that can be used in everyday wear especially for work. Non offensive but lasts poorly on my nose. Great for the dollar as my girl I think got it for about $30 for largest size. Good starter for someone who isn't too into fragrances but just wants to smell clean and good.

Ahhhh Guess green. This was one of 4 colognes I had in my arsenal during my late teens and a good chunk of my 20's. So many fond memories! This is a great signature summer fragrance for that younger man in your life be it son, brother, nephew etc. You can be confident that they're smelling great and if they make the mistake of bathing in it like kids do it won't be the end of the world as it's not a beast mode fragrance. Just a nice smooth, fresh appealing scent with a bit of elevation in the dry down. 10/10 (keeping in mind it's a cheap cologne for younger people)

I really like the smell, but the performance is terrible, but doesn't outright disappear once it dries. Paid 25 for this, but see that it's going for 45 in-store. I would never pay 25 for this and I don't think I would replace my bottle for the 20 bucks it's going for. I just don't see the point in a fragrance that doesn't last. Smell - 4/5 Performance - 2/5 Buy Again? No way. What's disappointing is how good it smells at first and how it doesn't mature and dry down into anything that stays around. Frustrating scent I can't wait to be rid of when it's gone.

Because it's slightly odd, I might Top 25 this fragrance if there were any of the bracing bitterness I keep seeing described. To my nose, though, there isn't much except a quiet, vaguely fresh and spicy greenness that, inexplicably, then leans blue (one thing I do NOT need more of), then a too-quick fade to nothing. It isn't often that I wish a fragrance was louder but here I do since I have Axes that smell more interesting and last longer. Inoffensive, not unpleasant, but insipid and categorically "meh." It'll do as a deo but that's about it.

This was my first complimented fragrance, the performance is so poor my ex must've been smelling me directly after spraying. Its nothing special. Very fresh and green, aromatic, shower gel-y. Easy to wear. Inoffensive. Very poor longevity and projection. One of the few fragrances I enjoyed but won't purchase again because its so plain you might as well find something else. 5.5/10. edit: Going to bump up to 6/10 because I forgot the price point makes it a good gym fragrance for people who wear those.

This smells about 75% similar to the newer Acqua Di Parma Colonia C.L.U.B (clear bottle).. Not as good quality as the ADP of course and not as strong in the opening but it's definitely similar. Clean, fresh, green, with a hint of sweetness to smooth out the green notes. The wormwood in Guess Man gives the same feel as the shiso in the ADP. Think sharper green Irish Spring soap. Paid $23 at Burlington for a 5.1 oz and I'm happy about it since I really enjoy the DNA. This will be a spring champion.

This starts with an almost citrusy/lime type scent and then after that you get the sweet/spicy, peppery, lavender, pine mix that's quite pleasant. Unfortunately the performance seems lousy- you need to spray a lot in order for this to last long and project more, otherwise it's barely noticeable after 2-3 hours. Overall a good fragrance and a safe blind buy, but I wouldn't recommend only because of the very poor performance.

This fragrance gets the most use out of all the others i own. It's such a fresh scent, it is safe to wear, i can't imagine anybody not liking this. Smells awesome after a shower! It is not that strong, so its best if used during the day time in spring and fall, even winter. I would not wear this for the summer, it might be a lil too woody! So, great scent, nice and fresh!

I love the perfume because it have that tangy sweet smell. At the the beginning you can smell sweet tangy style. Then you can smell a leathery scent. For me it's not for those who want to stand out from the crowd but that is what so good about it. People may ask what are you wearing when they got a sniff of this scent on you. Longevity is ok around 4-5 hours.

in my nose: . top notes : cucumber and mojito . middle notes: fresh ginger and nutmeg . base notes: amber, lavender and musky suede. in my skin: . longevity 7/10 . silage 6/10 . projection 7/10 in my opinion: . it's a twin brother of Guerlain Homme ( or at least they're have the same DNA ). . it's inexpensive fresh juice for enjoying summer.

I really like the smell on me it doesn't last long at all just got yesterday wore it last night to bed and to church today i sprayed it a couple of hrs ago and its all but gone keep trying to see if it takes my body getting used to it or something Idk but I wish it would stick because I love the smell its pleasant and not over bearing

It has been many years since we parted ways. I either donated the bottle or I may have broken it. Can't recall. What I do remember is that I had been on a quest for a clean balsam wood fragrance and this was the prize at the end of the journey. The notes featured here are mostly irrelevant. Balsam wood was what made this good.

It's a nice fresh green scent, Easy to wear , It smells so good and very pleasant with reasonable price. It opens up with like fresh citrusy green and spicy notes in the background then dry down is musky woody. This is perfect for the spring, summer and fall. I like Guess Man EDT. Longevity is average. Rating : 7.5 / 10

Guess Man is a great all purpose citrus aromatic fragrance that perfect for all seasons, You really dont need much on to get an affect of it, this cologne has a great longevity and an even better price at the bargain bins. At TJ Maxx and Ross its like 24 bucks for a 2.5, Not bad at all

I like it! It has a nice woodsy, spicy, herbal smell to it. Longevity and sillage are moderate, Still worth the price. Borderline aquatic... but not really. Maybe it more so reminds me of a coastal rain forest in the Northwest.

This is very fresh, green & clean scent. But for me, it has a little bit like teeth paste scent also. It’ good for casual wear use, daytime , spring & summer are good season. Also using at gym is good.

Get nice comment from friend when wear Guess. He ask what perfume? I say "Guess". He say "No, what do you wear?" I say "Guess Man!" He get angry. Ha ha! Is my good smell secret.

is there any difference between this and the gold version? i got the gold one and it's quiet good actually. a pleasant, sweet woodsy but refreshing, calming smell. 5/10

It is indeed a very spicy scent with a fresh twist, I still have my bottle from circa 2010, and at least on this one the pepper is very strong, followed by sandalwood.

a good one, very clean, somewhat cosy too, but if you already have that white lalique or porsche design titan, you dont need it. all three smell exactly the same.
