Oriental Rose

I have been searching for this one since it's release. The notes hinted that it might be a clone for the incredible YSL Lavalliere. I finally found an American seller at missperfumes.fashion and snatched it up immediately. Is it a 1:1 clone? To my nose (from scent memory; I don't own a bottle or decant) it's more than close enough. It satisfies my craving for an elegant fig and rose perfume. The fragrance opens with a fig accord. This fig here is more leafy than grassy, touched by nuances of crushed ivy. The presence of aroma chemicals Stemone and/ Glycolierral is definitely felt. Balancing the fig leaf is a soft black currant, presented as tart dried berries, without sharp ammonia notes. (No nuances of cat piss here, thankfully). A melange of citrus notes join the party. Grapefruit and Bergamot dance beside the fig, adding a joyful, sunny feeling to the perfume. The citrus here is more peel than juice, though. It's like scratching the outside of a citrus fruit you encounter on a garden walk, then inhaling the volatile oils. In the heart, we find magnolia. It is lush, natural, bright, and surprisingly not that soapy. Beside the magnolia blooms an unlisted orange blossom accord: green, fresh, and laced with herbal, basil like facets (thanks to linalool). Then comes rose. The rose here is dewy, green and radiant. It is difficult to describe. To my nose, a minty geranium leaf mingles with softer aromas of peony, hyacinth, tea, and pear skin. The "powdery notes" listed here are absolutely reminiscent of Nerium Oleander blooms in the heat of Summer. I have a giant bush that can't be contained thriving in my front yard. The flowers emit a powdery, almost talcum, like scent, sweetened by a nectarous quality akin to apricot fruit. The base notes listed here are missing a few details, to my nose. I definitely perceive a creamy sandalwood and clean musk. Alongside that, however, I perceive piney, coniferous notes: mastic trees and cypress to be more specific. As far as comparisons go, this perfume is absolutely reminiscent of the aforementioned Lavalliere, but also shares strong similarities with Balenciaga Rosabotanica and Hermes Un Jardin En Mediterranee. If you are a fan of any of these perfumes, I think you would like Oriental Rose. The perfume is so evocative of a vacation to somewhere in the Mediterranean: like Corsica, Santorini, or the Amalfi Coast. This is beautiful-- so beautiful that I almost considered gatekeeping the fragrance and not writing a review at all. However, I'm proud to be the first to review this gem, and share my discovery.
