Bois de Panama

Spicy and woody unisex fragrance on a slightly powdery base. There's definitely something leathery in there too, and while I don't smell anything that could resemble peach, it has some slight fruitiness to it in the same way coffee or tobacco sometimes smell fruity. It's also not exactly smooth, and is quite bright and bold - it can settle down to being almost unnoticeable for just a moment and then suddenly "jump out" at you. When it does, it's even almost screechy. It's an oddly... piratey fragrance. Maybe it's the spicy + slightly fruity combination that reminds me of certain notes in whiskey, rum or, as I mentioned above, pipe tobacco blends. But for some reason when I smell it, I think seafaring and faraway tropical lands. Probably performs the best on colder fall days.

Pulled this out of the ScentXplore bag blind, not looking at the name or notes. It opened up kinda with an initial leathery whiff, but more powdery with some fruit. There's a little bit of baby powder, or is that raisins? Dried apricots? Cumin? Either way, the opening is quite its own experience and there's a little bit of dankness to it. Unfortunately, while it calms a bit it doesn't dissipate that much. The result is an almost damp and musky pungent cave. Looking at the notes, the peach and cardamon with the violet and musk seems to be jokying for position rather than finding sync with each other. You would think the nutmeg and cinnamon would be more dominant but they seem uninterested in trying to participate while the sandalwood and vanilla hangs out in the back waiting for the rest to get along. While its sillage and longevity were good, I can't get by the dry down which seems to have too much cardamon (like you bit down on a seed) and is to the point of being a dank cumin element that is off-putting.

This is a warm, spicy fragrance. I get the cardamom and nutmeg, but I also get a savory spice on my skin...something similar to bayleaf with a bit of cumin. I'm not a big fan of savory notes in fragrances, and because of that I'm not a big fan of this.
