Hermis

This is another Guy Fox scent where it doesn’t smell like a dupe at all, but to some the notes will be reminiscent of a distant relative of an existing fragrance. For me, I do not get any association with YSL Y, but likely because I really disliked the sweet punch of that (For me I think it is the geranium, that note can ruin a scent for me.) I do however get an association with Creed Original Vetiver- again not like a dupe but more like a lighter, brighter, less dry relative with a bit of the sweetness pineapple brings without being cloying. Maybe a younger cousin. I have the Creed on my wrist and the Hermis on my neck. You would not mistake one for the other, but smelling them right next to each other you can sense the similarities. It’s definitely worth a sample try. Longevity is excellent, I think all Guy Fox are on the high end of EdP levels and smell like they use higher level ingredients that avoid a synthetic feel.

The initial spray was very bright and citrus, rapidly settling minty and a little darker. Almost antiseptic. Antiseptic settled down quick though and it was then more minty, fir and musk. Settled nice. Slight trace of fruit, otherwise quite forest-like, lost the mint fast but my skin gobbles topnotes at an absurd rate. Warm but fresh, pleasant. Slightly stormy vibes as it develops, almost a little soapy. Not obsessed with it, dont think I'd buy a bottle, but it's mostly nice. The vestiges that clung at the end were rather soapy and not in an altogether pleasant way though, the sort of scent you want to follow up with something different.

I don't get any original vetiver here. This is a slightly spicier version of a white or "blanc" style designer men's cologne from the early 00's. The aldehydes/musk give it slightly irritating white soapy dry down. Slightly generic in that I feel like I've smelled many like it before.
