Fidji du Soir

I think Parischampagne might be referring to the og Fidji ( forgive me if I'm wrong, it's a great description if it is ! ) not least because this has been out of production for over 20 years ( at least ?) and wasn't around for long, as it was. It's not impossible but hard to have worn it continuously all this time (I haven't owned it in 20 years til now). It's also definitely not "light and breezy". What it IS is Fidji "for the evening". Some of the same bright florals that it took from L'air du Temps but they are 30% not 70% , it's Fidji turned on it's head. Whereas the og has just enough oakmoss to ground it in the 70's, du Soir has an overdose plus sandalwood to boot, that takes it bam straight into the 80's. It's a cusp fragrance like so any of that time. Chypres that started to get spicier following the success of Opium and eventually shed they're green coats altogether, exchanged then for velvet and excess as they became the orientals of the later half of the decade. The first spicy chypre was probably Armani, the last, probably Fendi. I also suspect there's far more notes than those listed. It's still as complex as it's daytime alter ego. The hyacinth, jasmin and tuberose are still there peeking through. Galbanum definitely, it's still green and the aldehydes are stil shining in the dark. However, they upped the clove, the spice and, yes, the oakmoss, all turned up to 11. This was still for those that loved Fidji and dreamed of that tropical isle and it's white flowers and cool waters sparking in the sun. Except our feet are bare because we danced the night away, our gold, strappy sandals in our hand, the sea is an inky black, the jasmine narcotic and our dress is getting wet. The sun has set. This is Fidji after dark. Voulez-vous danser avec Fidji, ce Soir ?

I Find it to be an extraordinary perfume, the deepest and richest version of Fidji (the good vintage one). Woody and very elegant. I think it is, according to the current taste, a perfect unisex. A jewel. 10/10

This scent is light, breezy yet deep and lasting and is a 'happy' scent. I've always had a bottle of it since the 1970s and I still absolutely love it!!

I have tested this version many years ago (middle 90s). A friend of mine had this edt concentree in her bathroom. I can't say in details but I remember I had the impression of a quite different fragrance compared to Fidji, more sensual and gross, common, in some way, a sort of eau de seduction at any costs. And wasn't particularly original as said. A typical fragrance of that period, end 70s firsts/middle 80s. Not bad, not applauses. Maybe it was forward for the '77/'78. About the notes cant say I suppose the list of notes here up (lemon, bergamot, oakmoss, sandalwood, vetiver, musk) is incomplete if not totally arbitrary. Without swear, was a heavy flowery animal fragrance. I suppose Tuberose jasmine ylang rose plus spicy animal notes, (civet?). Was a sort of Original Panthere (Cartier), Shocking (schiaparelli), La nuit (Rabanne), Diva (Ungaro) I mean those kind of scents, full, even if thought for summer.

Such masculine notes, is this really only for women?
